A/N: This is highly experimental. And will not be updated as much. But depending on inspiration, I might come back to this from time to time. Yes, this will have YAOI in it. There's a Blue Byakugan fic if this type of relationship offends you, go read that. This fic is provided for FREE for the enjoyment of everyone. I'll be happy to receive critique and suggestions based on the story itself, but not on the pairing. The pairing is written in the summary for a reason. You are not forced to read this.

Chapter 1: Hyuuga Naruto
The fresh drops of the morning dew was still fresh on the leaves, the fog of the night has barely lifted, yet the sounds of a spar echoed deep in the Hyuuga compound. On the dojo, deep in the heart of the main family's branch, palm met palm in short bursts of chakra. Sweat fell on thin tatami mats as two boys met in their morning ritual.
Blue eyes met with pale shade of lavender, confident smirks on their faces as they sported bruises on their forearms and chin. Yet, never seemed to mind as they dodged, parried and charged at each other.
"You've done it now, Naruto-sama. I won't go easy on you." A dark haired boy yelled as he assumed a familiar stance, a stance that Naruto has encountered before.
"I told you to stop calling me that Neji!"
"Only when you managed to pierce my absolute defense, young sir." A smirk widened as blue eyes widened, offended at the nickname as he glared at the spinning mass of chakra, in its center, his older opponent gracefully spun to an unheard tune.
"Why I oughta—You'll pay for this Neji. I can see your chakra clearly now. That only worked before because I got distracted ya know!" Naruto's palm glowed blue as he struck at the rotating sphere, veins around the corners of his eyes thickening as he focused on one weak spot, a rotating chakra of his own channeled into the gap. "Absolute defense, yeah right. You're getting sloppy, Neji. Eat this!"
Lavender eyes widened as he saw a second too late. The smaller body of his opponent weaving through wind and chakra as he disappeared gracefully. The last thing he saw was a set of grinning teeth glinting against the low light overhead before he felt a slight pressure, just barely enough to catch him off balance.
"No, it can't be- my blind spot?" Neji cursed under his breath as he looked in horror as he now see the crack in his sphere, now in full display just as he turned. The crack widened before it finally stopped the stream of chakra from his Tonkotsu points and he was flung to the far wall of the dojo.
It took a second for him to recover, before a hand appeared in his view.
He looked up to see a smiling face and a pair of blue eyes gazing down on him.
"Told ya I'll pierce through one day. Looks like it's my lucky day today, huh, Neji?"
Neji smiled back, wrapped his hand around the other's wrist as he was pulled up before patting the other's back, closing the gap between them.
"Looks like you did… Naruto-kun…"
Neji smirked as he heard the other grunt, before meeting a pair of angry eyes… "Really Neji? I finally got you to drop the -sama and now that?"
"But of course. You're a member of the main branch, just like Lady Hinata. It would be improper of me to address you otherwise…"
"That's bull and you know it. We all know that's not true."
"Well, like it or not, father seems to think so. And whether you see father as your real parent or not is irrelevant."
"Hey, none of that talk. We all know the only reason I wasn't put in the branch family is that the caged seal wouldn't work on me. So as far as I know, we're equals. Always has been. Now stop being such a difficult bastard and call me by my name."
Neji sighed but the smile on his face remained as he extended a fist to his friend. "Fine, Naruto. Happy?"
Naruto grinned wider as he bumped his fist on the other. "Now that's more like it. Now come on. Let's clear this place up before everyone starts to wake up. Can't have those old farts finding out you're using jutsus from the main family now, can we?"
"That would be wise. I'll see you at breakfast?"
"Yeah yeah. And for pete's sake, come up with a better lie this time, yeah? I'll heal but that…" Naruto pointed at Neji's bruises. "Will be very obvious to everyone later today."
"Why whatever do you mean, Naruto?"
"Really? You slipped and fell? Very creative, Neji." Naruto ranted as he wiped the sweat from his brow and true enough the bruises from their earlier bout has started to heal. Neji handed him a white towel and a water bottle. And while the younger one wanted to protest, he accepted them just the same. He hasn't seen Neji smile like this in a while. And maybe there's a look of pride in there too somewhere.
"Of course. I'll come up with better excuse this time. I'm just happy that you're training is finally paying off."
"Right?" Naruto smiled wider, sapphire eyes shining at the unspoken praise. "And it's all thanks to you, Neji."
"You give me too much credit, Naruto. Now why don't we head out before the sun rises? See? The dojo's clean and it looks like we're never even here."
Naruto surveyed the room and nodded. Their morning ritual has been a secret from the rest of the clan. So they always do their best to fix the area before leaving. And while they were messy fighters, they made it a point to know where everything was located beforehand so they can replace every displaced item back to where they were.
"Looks good to me. Well, I'm off. Thanks for the warm up Neji."
"Likewise, Naruto."
And both boys headed their way. One to the Hyuuga main house and the other the branch house. Their day is just about the begin after all.

Breakfast came too soon. And while the whole clan eats together, the main branch has their own long table in the center.
"So Naruto-kun, I heard that you'll be graduating the academy today. And you too, Hinata."
A man began as the servants bowed to him as they set the food on the table. A branch member poured some tea on his cup as Naruto shoved a piece of sushi to his mouth.
"Nuh-uh… We still got a final exam. Right, Hinata-chan?"
"H-hai… That's right father. A-and… we-we'll" A young girl to Naruto's left struggled as she tried to avoid her father's eyes before Naruto slung an arm over her shoulder, causing her to turn red.
"And we're going to ace it, right Hinata-chan?"
"Manners, Naruto-kun. How many times must I drill that into you."
"I-it's okay father." Hinata hastily quelled their father as she glanced at her adoptive brother's grinning face, oblivious to the man's displeasure.
"Anyway, you don't have to worry about anything at all. I'm sure we're both ready for it."
"I'm sure. Just remember, don't underestimate the test. And you'll make us all proud." The rest of breakfast was spent in idle chatter. All this time, blue eyes kept glancing to the far corner where the rest of the branch members were eating.

Naruto tightened the straps on his boots as he slung his bag over his shoulders. To his side, Hinata shyly gripped his orange jacket.
"Shall I accompany you to the academy, Naruto, Hinata-sama?" Neji greeted them at the gates. But Naruto just shook his head. Hinata frowned at the way that Neji addressed her brother but said nothing as they walked to the gates.
"I'll take care of her. Besides, Hinata-chan can do well on her own, right, Hinata?"
Hinata just buried her face in her brother's jacket as Neji walked on worriedly, but he trusts Naruto well enough to understand that with him accompanying the young heiress, no harm will come to her.
"Besides, you got to meet your own team, too. I heard you guys need to retake this year's test, too."
"Unfortunately. Gai-sensei believes that we needed to work more on our team work. But I think he'll finally pass us this year."
"Hey, that's great news. That means you'll be graduating with us! Can't wait to see you in one of our missions. Hey, you think they'd let our teams work together?"
"Unlikely, most genin teams operate independent from each other. But I'm sure we'll cross paths eventually. Now, you better get going, Naruto, Hinata-sama…"
"Yeah, we should. Oh and Neji…. About this morning… don't think it will be the end of it. Someday, I'll change the Hyuuga clan and you can stop calling Hinata-chan that too… Because someday… we'll all walk this same halls not as branch and main members, but as equals. It's a promise of a lifetime…"
Neji smiled, this time genuinely as Hinata looked in shock at the rare display of emotions on her cousin's face.
"Heh, I heard that one a thousand times before, but after this morning… I think… I think I can believe you, Naruto-sama…"
"Neji…" Naruto said, warningly as his piercing blue eyes narrowed.
"Yeah yeah. I was just joking, Naruto. Now off you go. And go ace that exam like I did." He gave a wink and Naruto responded with his own as he dragged a befuddled Hinata behind him.
Indeed, it was a quaint morning like any other.
But there's something different in the air this time.
The smell of adventure, or a grand tale to come, who knows. But Hinata looked at her brother more closely this time as he held her hand securely. She knows that something big… a change is coming on the horizon.
She's not sure entirely what, but as she gazed upon the rising sun that bathes Konoha in its golden glow, she knows it in her heart that maybe, just maybe, this heaviness in her chest will finally be lifted.
She can feel it in Neji's tone, and the way that her Naruto-niichan looked at her. Change is coming to the Hyuuga clan. And maybe even Konoha.
This is a tale of her brother…
One who came into the clan as nothing but an orphan… adopted into the main house for some unknown reason. But she feels as if he's destined for something great. After all, Naruto captured the stone cold heart of her cousin Neji… Naruto brought chaos… a welcome one into their walled garden.
And she can't wait to see it unfold.
This is the tale of Hyuuga Naruto. And Hinata will be there every step of the way.

A/N: Heh. How's that for a first chapter? Writing this is making me feel so nostalgic for the good old days. So there will be callbacks to OG Naruto. I hope you'll enjoy this one as well.
