"Insolent peasants! Be obedient and hand over the girl!" Bezewanst shouted, his attempts to pretend to be a kindly old man had dissolved as soon as he had seen Myne's parents and were told that her father was a common soldier and not a rich merchant.

Perhaps things would have gone better if they had Benno bring her, or better yet, Shirou.

But her Master had told her not to worry about it. That Bezewanst couldn't use magic, nor could anyone around him in the Temple. And the Gray Priests were not fighters. Even five or six of them would have a hard time handling someone like Gunther, who was a trained soldier, even without Myne's help. Even Effa had more experience with fighting than the Priests did.

As for long term repercussions, Shirou told her not to worry about them. While an Archbishop might look big from the perspective of a commoner, he was nothing compared to Myne's backing.

"The Temple already has a lot of orphans that you use as playthings or entertainment whenever you want." Gunther said as he stood in front of his wife and youngest daughter. "We will absolutely not allow our beloved daughter be treated the same way."

While Shirou had earned Gunther's trust, no other noble or priest had it. He wouldn't let any of them touch his children. He looked really cool, standing there like that.

But Bezewanst was not impressed. "Don't fuck with me!" The fat man shouted, none of his honorable act remaining. "Seize these insolent peasants and lock Myne away in the back!"

The Gray Priests moved to do as they were ordered, looks of apology on their faces as they approached with their hands up.

But Gunther had no such hesitation and he immediately decked the first Gray Priest with a sharp punch to the solar plexus and before low kicking another hard enough to bring him down as well.

"Fool, now that you have raised your hand against our Priests, you will be imprisoned in the name of the Gods!" Bezewanst shouted.

"Shut up!" Gunther shouted back as he backhanded a third Priest in the face. "Since I am prepared to defend Myne, I would be prepared for at least that much!"

But more and more Gray Priests were filing into the room, more than a dozen of them. "You might be able to handle a few by yourself, but can you take on these numbers?" Bezewanst said arrogantly.

"O God of War Angriff, of the God of Fire Leidenschaft's exalted twelve, I pray that you grant Gunther your divine protection." Myne chanted with her hands clasped in front of her.

A large wave of blue light came from Myne and traveled to Gunther, seeping into him and causing him to glow with divine light.

Gunther was as shocked as the Priests as he felt the power surging through him, before he clenched his fists and gave the air and experimental punch, which moved at speeds that the Priests' eyes couldn't follow and sent out a gust of wind.

Gunther grinned and raised up his fists, ready for a fight. "It would seem the Gods are on our side, not yours."

This gave the Gray Priests pause, not just out of fear of what would happen to them if the man got his hands on them, but because none of them had seen such a powerful blessing before. They had only ever seen the small bits of light that nobles traded as a form of greeting, and only seldomly.

"What are you doing!? Get them!" Bezewanst shouted, now frightened himself.

Myne wondered if she had overdone it, since her dad might accidentally kill someone with the amount of strength he now had, but before things could escalate any further, a voice cut through the room.

"What is going on here!?" Sylvester shouted, entering the room with a dozen Knights and several other nobles, including Shirou.

Bezewanst grinned at seeing the Knights, immediately calling for their aid. "Nephew, these commoners have attacked me and the other Priests of the temple. Please assist me in…"

"Do not speak familiarly with me." Sylvester said, cutting the man off with a glare.

"Wha!?" Bezewanst said in shock.

"Myne, what are you doing here?" Shirou asked, his voice full of concern.

Myne was momentarily confused, knowing that Shirou knew about the meeting, but realized he was trying to play off their timely intervention as a coincidence.

"I'm sorry. We were summoned to the Temple by the Archbishop and had no choice but to come, and when we got here, he attempted to imprison me by force." Myne said as she went to her knees, signaling for her mother to do the same, as her father, being a soldier and recognizing the face of the Archduke, had already kneeled.

"That is a lie!" Bezewanst shouted.

"If it is a lie, then why are they here?" Shirou said, looking to Bezewanst for an explanation. One that the man couldn't give. "You ordered the Priests to assault them?"

"E…Even if I did, they are meanly commoners. It was there own fault for disobeying…"

"You attempted to kidnap my niece?" Sylvester said in a threatening tone of voice, stunning not just the Archbishop, but many of the Knights and Nobles behind him, as well as Myne and her parents.

"N…Niece?" Bezewanst said, confused.

"That is right. Myne is my daughter." Shirou said in a matter of fact tone.

"T…That is a lie! You never adopted any commoner girl! I would have had to sign off on it as Archbishop!" Bezewanst shouted.

"That is correct. Because I didn't adopt Myne. She is my daughter by blood." Shirou replied.

The Knights started to murmur in shock as Karstedt, one of Sylvester's Guard Knights, came forward with a magic item, handing it to Sylvester. "You see this? This is a magic item used to confirm parent-child relations among the nobility. It compares the magic energy between to people and if the child's magic contains the adult's magic signature, then they are related by blood."

Many of the Nobles nodded, having seen such a tool before, as they were used when a husband suspected his wife of being unfaithful. Though they were never used publicly like this, as even the accusation could cause serious damage to the family's reputation.

Sylvester handed it over to Shirou, who put his magic power into one of three Feystones in the item before Shirou approached Myne. "Myne, please put your magic energy into this Feystone."

Myne did as she was told, remembering that Shirou had told her that she had somehow copied his magic signature.

"That's not possible." Bezewanst said in complete disbelief.

"Anyone who wishes to debate it is free to check the tool themselves." Shirou said, handing the tool back to Sylvester before glaring at Bezewanst. "So tell me, why did you think you could get away with attacking the child of an Archduke Candidate?"

"I didn't know. I… I was tricked!" Bezewanst shouted, turning to Sylvester. "Nephew, please see reason! Don't allow Ferdinand to deserve you like this! He sent this child here to entrap me!"

"Didn't you invite her here yourself?" Shirou said, poking a hole in the man's story. "How did you even find out about Myne anyways? I have been making sure to keep her hidden until it was time for her baptism."

"But… she was baptized with the rest of the commoner children." Bezewanst said in confusion.

"...Myne, is this true?" Shirou asked, looking towards the girl.

"It is." Myne admitted, lowering her head.

"I see. It would appear my daughter convinced her attendants to let her visit the Temple under the guise of being one of the children there for baptism, despite being underage." Shirou said with a sigh.

"Sneaking off to see where her father works, huh? Wilfried does the same thing all the time." Sylvester said with a slight smile before his face turned serious again. "Bezewanst, we had come here to question you in regards to some documents that were discovered that connect you to both embezzlement and in a possible conspiracy against the Duchy as a whole. But now that you have been caught red handed attacking a young noble lady, and active member of the Archduke Family, this will not be a simple questioning. As Archduke, I strip you of your position as Archbishop and order you confined to the Ivory Tower until further notice! Knights, seize them!"

Bezewanst paled and tried to plead his case, but the Knights didn't care, grabbing Bezewanst and his Priests.

"Will the Gray Priests be executed as accessories to the crime?" Shirou asked as he saw them being led out.

"Of course." Sylvester replied.

"What!?" Myne shouted in panic, before covering her mouth. The nobles all looked at her, making her feel uncomfortable. "U…Uncle Sylvester…"

"Just Sylvester is fine." Sylvester said, trying to put the girl at ease.

"Sylvester, is it really necessary to punish the Gray Priests so severely? They only acted because they didn't have a choice." Myne said uncomfortably.

"Maybe, but they work for Bezewanst. It is unclear as to who among them would try to continue his will. Best to just deal with them all." Sylvester said, as if he wasn't talking about human lives.

"But that's…" Myne was biting her lip and Sylvester was getting uncomfortable.

"Perhaps we could let Myne sort them out." Shirou suggested, getting Sylvester's attention. "We are in the Temple, aren't we? If we use Schutzaria's Shield, then we can determine who among them hold's genuine resentment towards Myne and towards you as well."

"...Alright. If that is what the girl wants. If she can operate the shield, then we will spare anyone who can pass through it." Sylvester said, ordering people to fetch the Divine Instrument.

The shield was retrieved and handed to Myne, who activated it with a prayer, creating a dome of wind around her and Sylvester. A barrier which would only repel those who mean harm away, while letting those without ill intentions towards those inside to enter.

The knights then pushed Bezewanst towards the dome, who was immediately thrown back, repelled by a powerful gust of wind, marking him as someone who had true ill intent, rather than it just being a misunderstanding. Two others among the Gray Priestesses, those who served Bezewanst, were also flung away, while the rest of the Priests and Priestesses passed through unharmed and breathed sighs of relief, understanding that their lives would be spared. Surprisingly, of the twenty people who served as Bezewanst's attendants, only two of them failed the test.

Many of the others, mostly women, immediately outed themselves though and told the knights that they would be more than willing to answer any questions if asked. Apparently, they weren't very welling when they were demanded to 'offer flowers' and wanted revenge on the fat pig who had been raping them for years.

Myne breathed a sigh of relief as the Priests thanked her for her mercy, after she healed those who were injured by her father's attempts to defend her. Meanwhile Sylvester and the Knights took the former Archbishop and his minions and left to prepare the interrogation.

"You handled that well. A lot of innocent people were saved because of you." Shirou told Myne with a smile.

"You knew this would happen, didn't you?" Myne asked with a pout, understanding that he had let slip the information of the Gray Priests' fate knowing that Myne would object, improving her image in the eyes of the Gray Priests.

"Of course. But it was necessary to clean out the Temple before you and the others start your etiquette training here." Shirou said and patted the girl's head. "You can all go."

Myne had performed several impressive blessings in front of the Gray Priests, and made use of a Divine Instrument. Combine that with the mercy she showed them, and she would likely look like a saint in their eyes by the time she actually entered the Temple.

A very dazed and confused Gunther picked Myne up and carried her out, along with Effa, as they went home to process everything that had just happened.

Meanwhile, Shirou summoned the Blue Priests to inform them that Bezewanst was gone and that the Temple was now under new management.

Myne looking like the Goddess of Wisdom is actually canon, as is the Goddess of Wisdom being the daughter of the God of Life. It is also canon that only the Goddess of Wisdom can use all of the other God's divine instruments, something that Myne can do... suspicious.

So is that people with the Devouring who become extremely close to death will then copy the magic signature of the first person whose magic they are exposed to, which is why Shirou could pass himself off as being her father. (They haven't reached this point in the translated version of the LN though, and the number of people who know about it is very limited. Georgine being one of them.)

It all does kind of make it so that Miyuverse Shirou might have been a better choice, given that the God of Life is supposed to be the bringer of Winter.
