Chapter Two.
When Midoriya saw that the task was going to be destroying robots, he felt slightly scared because although he was strong, punching and kicking thick metal was on a whole other level.
'Maybe I'll need to open the first- No, if I were to show this right now, they are going to ask questions I don't wanna answer- But if I'm not able to destroy these things, then it won't matter- Damn, what should I do?'
As he thought about what to do, he saw one of those machines, a two-pointer, walking around. It was shaped like some kind of scorpion with two tails. When it spotted Midoriya, it started running with its tails pointing at him, ready to strike.
'Right, let's start by assessing our enemies.' He thought fiercely, moving in.
He went head-on, and when the robot made two puncturing attacks, he ducked, frowning at how slow the machine actually was, getting up with a kick to the underbelly of the robot, seeing the metal breaking as if it was made of cheap wood. He noticed the material wasn't as tough as he imagined, seeing that his right foot went deep inside the machine's body, breaking cables and circuits, and after his attack destroyed its insides, the robot instantly went into an energy failure, falling down and deactivating, and that made him smile wide.
"Time to have some fun, then." He whispered to himself before moving.
Midoriya ran around seeing people fighting two-pointer robots and saw a three-pointer all by itself. It looked like some kind of tiny tank, with two rocket launchers on its back. It was firing at random people passing by, so it didn't notice him until it was too late. One rounded kick on its side bent the metal again, but this one was sturdier, and it did not break like the other. It turned to Midoriya, but before it could fire, he saw that the metal connecting the rocket launcher to its back was thin and vulnerable, so he jumped over it, stepping once on top of its body, turning to kick the connection, and it broke like glass, making the weapon hit the floor. With the same spin, he kicked the second one, and just like that, the three-pointer turned off and fell.
'Wait, is that it?'
"We need to destroy the turrets! You saw how he did it?" One boy said while watching Midoriya and he glared. That wasn't fair.
He didn't waste any time, running while punching and kicking, making mental math.
'22, 24, 27, 29, 31, 34, 37, 40, 42!'
Midoriya guessed he was doing pretty good because he could hear people talking to themselves, still on single digits, but he didn't want to let anything to chance, hearing familiar explosions a few blocks away from where he was.
He went after the two-pointers the most because one good kick to their underbelly was enough to destroy them, and he noticed he had found its weakness by chance because the upper torso was really thick. He kicked the carapace of one of them and felt it barely bending, understanding this was made to resemble a real scorpion's body.
After speed-kicking bellies, he made it to 74, and then he heard Mic's voice.
"ONE MINUTE REMAINING!"
'Should I go for the hundreds? Yeah, just to make sure.' He was about to turn when he heard a bomb going off. Well, when he turned he saw it wasn't a bomb, but the zero-pointer, a huge robot, bigger than the buildings, moving while punching stuff. It had taken a whole street down and was now rolling in his direction. Midoriya saw the others running away, and was about to do the same, so he could get more points, when he saw the girl from earlier, stuck under a giant piece of concrete, just in front of the giant machine.
Midoriya's first thought was that the machine would never run over her because someone had to be controlling it, but it didn't stop, coming closer and closer.
And he felt a shiver.
He didn't know why he was doing that, but he was doing it anyway.
He ran towards her and tried to lift the debris so she could move, but it was huge, and he barely managed to make it budge. She looked at him with scared eyes, and he didn't even think:
"First Gate - Energy Crown"
He felt his forehead burning and tried again, but he barely managed to lift it ten inches, her leg still trapped. The zero-pointer came closer, and he knew he had to go all-in for this.
"Third Gate - Gate of the Twin Palms"
He felt the burning sensation on his arms and his vision blurred before it focused again, but when he picked the piece of concrete this time, he not only managed to lift it, but he was able to throw it aside with great speed, seeing it hit a wall, breaking it while raising dust. Midoriya looked down, and the girl eyed him with nothing but surprise on her face.
He was about to get her up when he felt danger and turned to see the zero-pointer just a few yards away from them, so he had no other choice.
"Fifth Gate - Gate of Transcendence"
And he felt his whole body burning, his head dizzy, his heart racing, and he knew it had worked.
He ran towards the zero-pointer, and used the pieces of broken concrete to jump upwards, getting a good last jump, feeling the rubble he was standing on to give, noticing how strong his legs were, propelling him up in the air, and he noticed he was face to face with the robot. He saw that the color of its armor was darker, but its head had a lighter color, where there were a lot of red sensors, resembling eyes. Midoriya didn't have time to notice anything else, raising his right first, aiming at its face, punching with all his might, roaring before attacking. One punch was all it took for its head to be cracked, falling backward, but then, it hit a building and its upper part started falling forward. Midoriya was free-falling now, amazed by the wind force that followed his punch.
This was the first time the boy really tested the Gate of Transcendence, so he was amazed by how powerful it was, by how powerful he was.
He looked down and saw there was no point to land, free-falling, but his mind was on the girl, thinking he wouldn't have time to get her to safety, who was still on the ground looking up at him, trying to move towards the point he was going to fall with her hands up as if she was going to try to catch him. Midoriya knew he had to do something.
"Sixth Gate - Gate of the Forbidden Lotus"
And he felt the pain following the activation as if millions of tiny needles pierced his whole body, followed by searing pain as if he was falling through fire. He started kicking the air as if he was hitting something solid, and the wind force created by it made Midoriya move faster towards the ground. When he was about to impact, he raised his right fist and punched towards the ground, sending a blast so strong, that it canceled his momentum, but that also hurt like nothing he ever felt in his whole life, dislocating or probably breaking his arm. When he touched the ground, he barely had time to be worried, looking up to see the upper half of the robot falling over them, so he ran with all his might, getting to the girl in a heartbeat, seeing that she was getting up again after his punch, but her leg was bleeding, so he never stopped moving, running straight at her, using his remaining good arm to throw her over his shoulder, carrying her.
He wasn't going to make it in time, so he pushed with everything he got and looked over his shoulder at the last moment, seeing the giant metal piece reaching the ground, barely missing his feet when he dove to get out of the way. He gasped and looked around, the girl was a few feet ahead, lying on the ground and he got up, running to her.
"Oh, no- Sorry for dropping you- Are you ok?!"
"I- I'm ok- Are you all right-"
And then he felt it.
The searing pain had reached its peak, and now it was like his whole body was on fire. The burning sensation that came from his insides made him fall to his knees, gripping his costume where his heart was, trying to think throughout the overwhelming pain, his jaw locked while he tried not to scream.
"RE- RELEASE!"
He was able to say, instantly feeling the pressure and the pain vanishing, but the fatigue that settled on his body was like nothing he had ever experienced. It was like his body died, completely numb and cold, and all he could see was the world becoming white before he hit the ground.
When Midoriya opened his eyes again, he was lying down in some kind of infirmary. He looked around and saw his bandages and his boots to his right. He tried to move, but his body was too heavy, so he just looked around.
"Hello?" He asked after a few moments of nothing but silence.
"Oh, you're finally awake." This really tiny woman came wiggling her way from another room and Midoriya instantly recognized her face.
"Recovery Girl?"
"That's me."
"What's going on- What happened? For how long was I out?" Midoriya asked alarmed, trying to move, but not having any success again.
"I should be asking you that. Well, you've been out for four hours now... we were about to contact your guardian, but since you're awake now, we can discuss a few things. You have the weirdest quirk I ever saw- I did some tests on your muscles and it's something both incredible and unbelievable- It's like your muscles are dead. You also had a dislocated shoulder, but I put it back in place."
Midoriya tried to sit, and although his body was too heavy, he was strong, so he managed to pull himself using his left arm until his back was against the bed frame. He cracked his neck and his fingers, feeling as if he just had run three consecutive marathons. All his muscles were numb.
"I have to ask, what is this quirk of yours? I never saw anything like it."
Midoriya looked at her and answered with the most natural look:
"I don't have a quirk."
"You don't have a quirk? Are you trying to be funny?"
He just shook his head, and she frowned, not convinced.
"I am serious- I never had a quirk."
"Then how in the world have you managed to gather those amount of points?"
"Do you know how many I got in the end?"
"74."
"Oh, right, the zero-pointer was actually worth zero points." Midoriya frowned to himself, imagining why was he thinking the giant machine was worth something. Mic told them it was just an obstacle.
"Now that's some genius thinking." Recovery Girl said sarcastically.
"Heh."
"Your name is Midoriya, right?"
"Yes, Midoriya Izuku."
"So tell me, Midoriya, how did you manage to defeat the robots if you don't have a quirk?"
He thought for a few seconds about his answer. He would have to tell them eventually, right?
"Analyses and martial prowess?" He tried the waters.
"Just that?"
"Just that. I mean, I saw their shapes, so I looked for weaknesses and used my training to destroy them." He tried omitting the truth, and she nodded.
"And the zero-pointer?"
'Damn.' He knew he couldn't lie his way out of that one.
"Energy gates." He whispered and Recovery Girl repeated with a frown.
"Energy gates?"
"Ummm... do you know anything about Chi?"
"Chi?"
"Yes, the energy we have inside of us... the five anchoring points of Chi we have in our bodies."
"Oh, I heard something about those, but that's about meditation, right?"
"In a way, yes, but there's more to it. That's what I use."
"So, that's how you managed to pull that off, huh?" A different voice asked while a man walked in, looking bored with a beige scarf around his neck.
"Ah- Who-"
"What you're doing here, Aizawa-kun?" Recovery Girl asked.
"I came to check on him."
"Me? Why?" Midoriya asked, surprised by the man's words.
"We need to talk about the thing you used."
After Recovery Girl left to take care of another injured student, Midoriya was left with the weird man, who took a chair and sat beside his bed.
"I'm Aizawa Shota, one of Yuei's home teachers."
"Ah- I'm Midoriya-"
"I already know that, Midoriya Izuku, but what I don't know is what you did back there."
Midoriya sighed and looked straight at the man. He had a weird aura, as if he was someone strong but weak at the same time. It was weird to explain what Midoriya felt when he looked at him.
"I enhanced my body, that's all."
"Care to explain?"
Midoriya did care, but someone who was probably from Yuei's staff was asking him, so he really had no choice.
"Well, do you know how the human brain imposes limitations on every muscle in your body?"
"I do, the brain does that to protect you from self-harm." Aizawa answered quickly and Midoriya raised his eyebrows.
"Right, but sometimes, you can witness someone doing something-"
"Impossible." He nodded.
"Yes, and that's exactly what I do. I found a way to bypass these blockages and force my brain to allow my body to push past its limits."
Aizawa took some time thinking about that last part and got up, walking around.
"And your current state?"
"Well, I had to do a little more than I'm used to save that girl- Oh, is she ok?"
"She's fine."
"Oh, thank god- Well, because of that, I had to go a little above my limit, and as I result, I'm like this."
"Recovery Girl said your whole body is showing muscular stress beyond any levels she ever saw. She wanted to cure you, but she was afraid her quirk would actually kill you because you were all out of energy."
"That's well though- I think it could've been really dangerous if she tried."
"So you're quirkless." It wasn't a question and Midoriya frowned.
"Yes- Why?"
"It's going to be interesting to explain how a quirkless boy ended up ranking first on the entrance exams."
Midoriya felt his heart speeding and just stared with his mouth open.
"I ranked first?" He whispered after a few moments of silence.
"You did."
"Ah- Should I be knowing about this now? Is it going to be a problem-"
"It's not a problem to tell you, don't worry, but I'm surprised."
Midoriya recovered and cleared his throat, trying to keep his cool. It wouldn't be very manly to cry right now.
"About what?"
"About the whole thing. You stopped at seventh four points, but I'm sure you could've reached the hundreds if you kept your pace going, and the second place got seventh seven points."
'Probably Bakugou.' Midoriya thought, and frowned.
"Wait, then how did I rank first if he destroyed more-" And then he gasped, his eyes widening.
"The robots were not the only point system in play, were they?" He asked Aizawa, and the man gave him a tiny smile.
"You're a fast thinker, huh? Yea, you're right. There were also the rescue points in play, and you got 80 of those, so your overall score is a hundred fifty-four against seventh seven from the second place."
Midoriya wanted to scream right now, trying hard to not explode in laughter, but he couldn't hide his smile. He beat Bakugou.
"And I'm also curious about those moves- Are you trained in martial arts?" Aizawa's words brought him back from his trip, and he nodded.
"Self-taught."
"Interesting, but I saw a few roots in your moves- Taekwondo for kicks and Boxing mixed with Muay-Thai for punches, right?"
Midoriya simply frowned, how could he know that?
"Although your Taekwondo is strange- It's full of spins and flying kicks. I thought it was just flamboyant, but you actually turned those flourishes into effective hits."
"They help me connect the combos."
"But they also leave your guard open since you'll have to fall after the jump."
"That's the thing, my moves are designed to give you this impression, but at any time, I can attack or counter-attack you, even when I'm falling, and if I'm not fast enough, I have my gates-" Midoriya was so happy that he just burped the word, trying to leave at that, looking around.
"Gates?" Aizawa asked interested and Midoriya mentally cursed himself.
"It's how I call my blockages." He tapped his temper and Aizawa nodded.
"Ummm, I saw your kicks sending windblasts while you fell, and the punch you used to stop yourself from going splat- They were so powerful that they reminded me a little of All Might."
Midoriya tried not to let that go to his head, but he blushed to Aizawa's words. That was the best compliment he ever received in his life.
"But I have to tell you something, Midoriya-"
"I know already."
Aizawa frowned and tilted his head, crossing his arms.
"You're going to say that being in this state is not suited for a hero, right? Every time I put myself in this condition, I'm actually making it worse in the bigger picture, because someone will have to save me too."
Aizawa left a tiny smile and sat again.
"At least you're the whole package, muscles, and brains, huh?"
"Thanks- Well, about your worries, I would never put myself in this state without a real reason- If it weren't for that extreme situation, I would've been fine by now."
Aizawa nodded a few times and leaned back in his chair at the same moment another patient was brought in. Midoriya saw the very same girl he saved, lying down unconscious.
"What happened- I thought you said she was fine." Midoriya said to Aizawa who got up and walked across the room.
"She was- What happened, Recovery Girl?"
"The concrete that fell on top of her did some internal damage, but I can't see anything on her skin- There's no internal bleeding showing through her skin, so we may need to take her to a hospital. I can't really perform any healing without knowing what's going on because it can actually harm her."
The girl woke up right at that moment, looking around.
"Wha- What's happening-" She asked groggily.
"Good- Dear, where does it hurt?"
"Ah- Everywhere." Her voice started breaking as she started crying.
"Try to focus- Tell us where it hurt the most-"
But she was out again.
"I need help." They both turned to Midoriya who was pulling himself up, and Aizawa walked to him.
"The heck are you doing, Midoriya?!"
"Take me to her."
"Why?"
"Just do it, please, I'll explain later."
They nodded and the two assistants that brought the girl helped put Midoriya in a wheelchair, rolling him to the girl. He got up with help, his legs shaking to the weight of his body, and he looked to Recovery Girl.
"Take off her clothes, she can keep her bra."
"What?" One assistant asked, but Recovery Girl saw something in Midoriya's eyes and obeyed, taking a pair of scissors, cutting the girl's hero costume. Midoriya tried hard to not look at her body, placing his left hand where her heart was.
"Second Gate - Gate of the Moonfall"
He stared at her head, following something down, looking attentively for some time, while everyone kept staring at him until he pulled his hand away, and Aizawa saw a very light green glow in his palm.
"Her Chi is weak in her head, but it's not troubled at all, so I guess it's just a concussion- Thank god."
"How can you tell?"
"Like I just said, her Chi isn't troubled- It's just out of balance on a part of her brain, so I guess it's caused by some damage, but with that amount, she's going to be fine."
Midoriya sat again, sighing in relief.
"Well, I'm not calling you a liar, but we'll ask for an ambulance anyway. She needs an MRI."
"It's fine, you can check if I'm right, but I already know she's going to be fine."
Midoriya said that with such calm, that Aizawa believed him for a moment. The girl woke up again and groaned.
"Mommy- My head hurts."
"I'm not your mommy, but I know, honey, we're going to take you to the hospital, don't worry." Recovery Girl said while kissing her cheek, and Midoriya saw her quirk in action, making green light envelop the girl's body.
The girl didn't faint again and was with her hand on her head, and after a few moments, she looked down and blushed, pulling her sheets over her body.
"Why am I naked?!"
"You're not naked, you're wearing a bra, aren't you? Your ambulance will arrive in a few minutes." Recovery Girl answered while putting a phone back to its base.
"I'm already feeling better, a rock hit my head when I was down- Why was I semi-naked?"
"He asked us to take off your clothes so he could check your Chi or something like that." Recovery Girl said as if it was the most normal thing in the world and the girl glared across the room, her eyes finally settling on Midoriya, who was looking at her with a tiny smile.
"Hey." He waved once, and she started going red.
"He- he- he- he- he- he saw-"
"Are you ok?" Recovery Girl asked confused, but the girl just disappeared below her sheets.
Midoriya took advantage of the moment and used the second gate on himself, touching his chest for some time, feeling his Chi completely out of control, flowing to places it shouldn't be flowing yet.
He closed his eyes and started meditating, fixing his mind in his heartbeat, slowing down to the bitter end, focusing on controlling the flow again, putting his hand on his chest, whispering before closing his eyes:
"Second Gate - Gate of the Sunrise"
"Midoriya?" Aizawa called, seeing his eyes closed. He thought he was in some kind of trance.
"What the hell is happening to him?" An assistant asked and was about to come towards Midoriya when Recovery Girl said:
"Leave him alone- He's meditating."
"Meditating?"
"Can't you see? He's some kind of Chi user- Just add two plus two."
After at least thirty minutes, Midoriya opened his eyes again, flexing his hands, noticing the numbness of his body fading, and the pain coming back, but that was a good sign.
He touched his chest and felt the flow of Chi aligned again, looking aside to see that Aizawa was still there, while the girl was across the room, talking to a few EMTs.
"Oh- I forgot to tell you I was going to meditate a little to realign my Chi- Sorry."
"It's fine, I was helping with Uraraka."
Midoriya looked at the girl, who was wearing a blouse now, and she noticed his gaze, looking back, and he smiled, but she became red before looking down again.
He moved, and this time, he could feel the pain and soreness, but at least he could withstand his own weight, so he got up, taking his things.
"Where are you going?" Aizawa asked and Recovery Girl walked to him as well.
"You're not discharged yet-"
"It's fine, my Chi is already aligned, I just need some rest."
They eyed each other and were about to discuss, but they remembered the EMT's words that the girl just had a concussion and was practically ok now. Recovery Girl didn't believe it, but the EMT had a portable MRI machine that showed no bleedings and no damage, and that made her gasp towards Midoriya, who was still mid-trance. This Chi reading this boy had was something really weird, but it sure looked like he was good with it.
"All right, but if you feel anything go to the hospital asap."
"You got it, ma'am. Well, excuse me."
He walked slowly and went to the other side of the room, stopping by the end of the girl's bed, who turned to look at him, her cheeks flushed.
"I'm sorry for asking Recovery Girl to take off your clothes, miss- I was worried about your condition and I wanted to give you a quick check- Ah, I can feel Chi- The energy my body produces, and I can feel it on others too, so I can check where their energy is weak or strong- That's why I had to ask her to do that. I'm very sorry for doing such a thing while you were unconscious." He bowed his head and turned to the door, but her voice made him stop.
"Wait- I wanted to thank you- Recovery Girl explained to me what you did- I'm Uraraka- Uraraka Ochaco."
"Midoriya Izuku, nice to meet you."
"Thanks for what you did back there as well- If you weren't there-"
"Don't mention it, I'm just glad you're ok." He smiled, truly relieved she wasn't hurt, and saw her cheeks becoming even redder before turning and walking away.
Midoriya was walking home slowly, trying to minimize his movements to not hurt himself, thinking for how long he was going to feel pain, not bothering that much. He had done it. He had not only beaten Bakugou, but he also ranked first in the exams... all with his own strength.
He was smiling wide while coming back home, but then, he heard laughs and looked over his shoulder to see Bakugou walking with his friends, already wearing casual clothes. Of course, they finished the exams almost five hours ago, so he had already gone home and changed. Midoriya could identify they were talking about Bakugou's display on the exams, telling him he was a badass or something like that.
'Shit- What's up with this timing?! Not right now!'
Midoriya could barely stand, and if they noticed that, they would probably destroy him for what he did.
Midoriya saw a tiny garden, sitting on its edge, facing the street, and after a few seconds, the quartet stopped in front of him.
"Look who it is."
Midoriya looked up and saw a boy with a big scar on his chin, and another one with his hair weirdly out of harmony, where he had to shave it for some surgery.
"The hell you're doing here, Deku?" Bakugou asked with a hint of anger in his voice.
Midoriya couldn't handle Bakugou right now, but he didn't want to answer to that insult either. He thought for some time and decided to risk it, staying silent, glaring at Bakugou.
"He asked- He asked you a question." One of them said, but he stumbled on his words, and his voice just sounded scared.
"My name is not Deku." Midoriya whispered and Bakugou stepped up to him, making Midoriya get up, trying to sell it he was having no problem standing, but Bakugou narrowed his eyes while looking down, and after frowning, kicked Midoriya's legs, making him drop flat.
"What the hell is wrong with him?"
"I don't know, but he seems weak- You know what I'm thinking?" One of them said with a smile, and they all started cracking their joints.
"Yea... this is my fate." Midoriya mumbled towards the ground, shaking his head.
"The hell are you talking about?!" Bakugou shouted, his hands sparkling, and then, Midoriya got up.
"My road has to be the toughest- It's just my fate."
"Huh?"
"Just remember that this is your fault, not mine."
Bakugou frowned, but took a step back, seeing the wind blowing Midoriya's hair aside, and his eyes were cold and dangerous.
"Sixth Gate - Gate of the Forbidden-"
"What are you boys doing?"
They all turned and saw a weird man, but Midoriya sighed.
"I was just about to break their legs and arms." He whispered with his cold gaze, and Aizawa frowned at how serious that sounded.
"That's not very hero-like if you ask me, Midoriya."
"Well, I'm not a hero yet, so you can't hold that against me. I also tend to have a weak spot against bullying."
The boys were confused, but one of them turned to Aizawa, unaware of who he was talking to.
"Walk away, old man, this has nothing to do with you."
"Old man?! You brat!" Being called an old man seemed to annoy him the most, and Bakugou's hands sparkled, at the same time one of the boy's fingers started to stretch, but then, Aizawa's eyes changed color, and the sparkles vanished, the fingers went back to normal, and suddenly, Aizawa was right on their faces, his hands in his pockets.
'Damn- He's fast.' Midoriya thought wildly.
"Wha- My quirk isn't working."
"Brats, go home while I still allow you. I have a few things to discuss with him." He nodded towards Midoriya.
"The hell are you-"
"Shut up- Let's go." Bakugou said and walked away, looking over his shoulder, and then, Aizawa's eyes went back to normal.
"So you're the Eraser Head." Midoriya whispered, and Aizawa turned to look at him.
"Disappointed?"
"Just surprised, but now that makes sense."
"What does?"
"Your analyses on my martial arts- You're the same as me- You're quirkless."
Aizawa smiled at that.
"Why would you say that?"
"Well, when I think about a quirk that can only nullify other quirks, I can't consider it a quirk, just a way to nullify other quirks, thus making you quirkless. You suppress their quirks, then what? You bring them to normal human status, but then you must have something to work with, otherwise, you just erase quirks for nothing... I bet you're trained in combat as well... and that's how you knew what kind of martial art I was using just by watching me."
Aizawa smirked but didn't answer.
"Why are you here, Aizawa-san?"
"I was following you home to make sure you weren't going to pass out and die in the middle of the street- Tell me something, Midoriya, what were you really about to do to them?"
Midoriya sighed and started walking, signaling for Aizawa to walk with him.
"I was about to break their arms and legs in three places so they would never bully someone again."
Aizawa frowned at that, and Midoriya shrugged.
"That could've ended their chances of becoming heroes. Broken bones like that can never be the same, and this kind of injury leaves the limbs in a weak state-"
Midoriya glared at him while walking, and he stopped talking.
"But you already know that."
"I do, and are you trying to change my mind or actually make me follow them and finish the job? I mean, the idea of bullies becoming heroes is just revolting. I'd be doing the city a favor if I ended their careers before they even try to start it."
Aizawa chuckled at that and walked in silence for a few seconds.
"You're very violent for a child, you know that?"
"The world is a violent place, and kids learn that too late, but I'm an exception."
Aizawa frowned again at his way of speech and asked:
"How old are you, Midoriya?"
"I just turned sixteen."
"You don't talk like a sixteen-year-old boy... and you don't look like one either."
"Was that a compliment? If it was, thanks."
"Well, I'd advise you to not use violence as your answer in situations like that, but I'm really good at sorting a person's character."
"You are? What about mine?"
"You are the type that doesn't care."
"Huh?"
"The type who suffered a lot, so you just don't care, you'll impose your will and demand respect even if it means breaking bones."
"Hahahahaha- I'm not a maniac that will go around punching random people- I always try to resort to non-violent means, but-"
"But if you're out of options, you simply don't care about the consequences." He smiled and Midoriya nodded, understanding that that was what he meant and that he was a hundred percent right.
"Why are you here, Aizawa-san? I mean, I'm glad you showed up, otherwise, I'd be in a coma right now, but why are you really here?"
Aizawa took a few moments thinking and answered while looking straight forward.
"I was following you to make sure you weren't lying or faking your injuries."
Midoriya nodded, and Aizawa snuck a glance at him.
"You're not angry?"
"Not really, it's understandable- I'd have done the same."
Aizawa chuckled again and asked out of nowhere.
"What are these gates you told me about, Midoriya?"
Midoriya stopped walking, and he did the same, staring at the boy until his face showed a smile.
"Now that would be a secret, but maybe I'll show you someday."
They just stared at each other, until Aizawa smiled as well, and they walked away in silence the rest of the way.
