Title: Our Love Was Always Forever.

Couples: FABERRY/Quinn/OC.

WARNING: Genderswap!

Clubs, jealousy, fighting and other Things - Chapter 35.

The process of fixing up Rachel's apartment came to a conclusion three days after Quinn first showed up on her doorstep, the blonde having taken time off of work because of the holiday's meant that he had a lot of free time on his hands to help out the mother of his child. The two exes had grown even closer after spending several uninterrupted days with each other and Quinn had barely seen Jen after walking out on her that one morning following their argument.

He was avoiding her to the point that, whenever she would call asking if she could come over, he would always give her the excuse of being preoccupied or busy and Jen was at her wits end with his excuses. It was becoming glaringly obvious to the younger brunette that the more she tried to step into Quinn's life and push Rachel out, the harder the blonde would try to hold on to his former love. She was beginning to wonder if it was even possible to compete for his attention. After all, how do you possibly measure up to the woman who had been his first love and was responsible for giving him the most precious thing in his life, his daughter.

Quentin stood leaning against the kitchen counter, his eyes trained on his little girl who was happily munching away on her jam covered toast that morning. He really couldn't believe how fast she has growing up! Each day that passed she looked more and more like her beautiful mum, only with his eyes and Quinn realised, with a smile on his face, that the girl was truly the perfect combination of both him and Rachel.

"Are you okay daddy?" The blonde was snapped out of his thoughts by the sound of his daughter's voice before approaching where she was currently sat.

"I'm fine baby," Quinn replied, "How would you like to spend the day with your ol' dad?"

"The whole day?" She asked with a beaming smile on her face, her almost finished breakfast forgotten in her excitement.

"Yup, just you and me, all day," the father grinned.

"Can we do anything I want?" Bella asked.

"You're the boss, you name it and we'll do it!" Quinn replied, willing to do anything to make his little girl happy.

"Awesome! I'm gonna go get my dolls so we can have a tea party!" she yelled, her small footsteps padding up the stairs.

If Rachel had still been living with them she would've yelled 'no running Isabella Fabray, walk' out of the fear of her daughter falling and hurting herself. Quinn smiled at the thought, because when Rachel had been around everything had felt so right, as if that's how it was always meant to be.

"Ready daddy?"

Quinn was brought out of his thoughts by the sound of Bella's voice and he smiled. He loved nothing more than spending quality time with his daughter and he realised he hadn't had much free time to do it in a while. He had been so caught up in trying to keep Jen happy while also trying to figure out what was going on between him and Rachel and these feelings that were resurfacing. He was annoyed with himself for almost losing sight of what was most important to him, and that was and always would be Isabella.

Her happiness came before anything else in the world, because she was his whole world, and he had been so wrapped up with the whole Jen vs Rachel situation and the complications that it brought that he had begun to neglect the one thing that was always simple and uncomplicated, his relationship with his daughter.

"Alright princess, let the fun begin."

/

The whole day was spent just the two of them. After the tea party which Quinten was the guest at, Isabella suggested dress up and Quinn, eager to please his daughter, dressed himself in the blue tutu the little girl requested him to wear. Then they had sat down for ice-cream, much to Isabella's delight. Eating ice-cream before dinner? Dream come true. After their sweet treat they sat in front of the TV and watched a few of Isabella's Disney movies. It was odd how most of her favourites were also Rachel's, she truly was her mother's daughter.

After the movies had ended the two found themselves in a deep slumber on the couch in the living room. When Quinten woke up from his nap, he decided to order pizza and when it had arrived, he woke his daughter up and the two ate together before calling it a night. Rather than taking the little girl to her room to sleep in her own bed, Quinn chose to bring her to his own bed where he fell asleep with his daughter wrapped up in his protective embrace, sleeping soundly. After all, Isabella wouldn't be a little girl forever, Quinn wanted to savour all of these sweet precious moments for as long as possible.

-New Year's Eve-

It was New Year's Eve and Rachel had Bella with her at her place, giving Quinn the time to deal with a particularly difficult client that insisted on having his kitchen finished as soon as possible, even though Quinn was supposed to be on a break. To be honest Rachel didn't understand why Quinn put up with his ass of a client, he was plain rude and all Quentin was doing was being nice. Anyways it wasn't like he could find a better interior designer in this town like Quinn. The blonde shouldn't have to put up with rude clients regardless of what they were willing to pay for his services.

"Mama."

Rachel's train of thought was interrupted by her daughter who was sat opposite her nibbling on her fruit slices.

"Yes baby?" the brunette acknowledged with a motherly smile.

"Would you take me to my first day back at school after the holidays?" Bella asked shyly with innocent doe eyes.

Rachel's smile widened at the request, her heart bursting with happiness. "Of course baby." Having missed many of her daughters' firsts, Rachel was more than eager to have the opportunity to begin making up for those lost moments. "I would love to." Rachel said. She grinned as she laid a kiss on the girl's cheek. Just then the buzzer downstairs sounded throughout the apartment and Rachel had no doubt who it was.

"Daddy's back!" Isabella exclaimed getting out of her seat, food forgotten as she tried to run for the door.

Rachel, seeing her daughters' actions, reacted instantly and pulled her back turning her gently to face her. "Now little miss, what did we say about running to open the door?"

"Not too?" the small girl replied, shamefully looking down at her feet over the scolding. "I'm sorry mama" she added with just a little pout that made Rachel almost want to let her get away with bad behaviour.

"Mmhmm, now go get your stuff while I let your daddy up before he freezes his butt off," Rachel said making Isabella giggle as she ran toward Rachel's bedroom.

"And no running" the mother called out shaking her head at the muffled replied before walking toward the front door to press the button for downstairs, only to suddenly hear a knock on the apartment door making her jump in surprise. After collecting herself the brunette finally opened the door to be greeted by Quinn's smiling face.

"Hi" Quinn said the smile on his face light and carefree.

"Hi," Rachel replied with a smile of her own.

The two stood there smiling at one another as if they were seeing each other for the first time. Rachel couldn't deny the fact that her feelings toward Quinn were growing day by day, and when Quinn stood there looking at her like she was the only girl in the world, the brunette wanted nothing more than to fall into his arms and confess her feelings.

Having spent those glorious three days with him working on fixing her small apartment, she found it more difficult than ever to keep from blurting out her true feelings, especially when Quinn would walk around constantly shirtless and sweaty and it was in those moments that Rachel had to actually dig up all her self-control to hold herself back from jumping his bones. The thought that it was Jen who got to have him at the end of the day more than irking her because she wanted nothing more than to be the person who Quinn returned home to every night.

She finally decided to break the staring match upon realising that if somebody walked by they would think they were both crazy. Stepping aside, she gestured for Quinn to enter and then shut the door behind him.

"So the gangs all hanging out Saturday night at Puck's club," Quinn finally said as they waited by the hallway for Isabella's appearance.

"Yeah?" Rachel replied, slipping her hands into the back pockets of her jeans.

"Yeah, you should come," Quinn said with a casual tone as if he wasn't hoping with all his might that she would say yes, "It could be fun." At least he hoped it would be, what with Jen also tagging along. Truth be told, Quinn had been hoping to have a night out without his other half. He wanted to get all the old gang together for a night of fun without the added tension of having Jen and Rachel in the same room.

Unfortunately Finn had accidentally let it slip about the arranged night out in front of Jen, and having no other choice but to invite her along, Quinn covered his tracks by claiming that he was hoping to surprise her by inviting her out but that Finn had beaten him to it. Jen eagerly jumped at the chance, more than willing to go in the hopes that integrating herself into Quinn's circle of friends would further cement her status in his life.

Quinn was thankful in that moment that Jen had bought the lie, and when he walked Finn out of the house he punched his friend on the arm...hard! Because of course he didn't want Jen to go because that meant that Rachel and Quinn wasn't sure why, but he was more to have Rachel there for New Year's than Jen. It should have been a warning sign, the one that told Quinn he was fighting a losing battle, but he couldn't deny the fact that a part of him was still fearful of allowing himself to fall for Rachel again in case she did walk out on him again.

Jen on the other hand was safe. She really liked Quinn and she seemed like she was in it for the long haul, but something deep inside Quinn kept nagging at him, telling him that maybe settling for safe wasn't good enough. Choosing the safe option may save him from heartbreak in the long run, but would it truly make him happy? Could he really deal with having Rachel at arm- length for the rest of his life while he tried to play happy family's with a girl who seemed to want everything with Quinn that he wasn't yet prepared to give?

He just didn't know, and the more time that passed, the more conflicted he felt and the harder it was for him to make a decision, especially because it was possibly taking one more day away from Jen or Rachel in terms of either of them finding their own true happiness. He was stringing both girls along and he knew it, but he didn't know how or who to let go of. Should he choose the safe Jen? The girl he genuinely cared about and made him happy for the first time in a long time and had done nothing but open herself up to him completely? Or did he go for Rachel, the girl who had been his first love, had been the girl he thought he would spend the rest of his life, the one who have given him the greatest love of his life in their little girl?

It was an endless loop in Quinn's mind, a constant aggravation that plagued him daily. However in that moment Quinn didn't care about anything except waiting on Rachel's response. He needed her to say yes.

"Uhm, I don't know- I mean what about Isabella?" the brunette asked, trying to find a reason to say no knowing Jen would probably be going as well. But Rachel couldn't deny the fact that she really wanted to spend New Year's with all her old friends, to reconnect with them on the one night where everyone said goodbye to the past and looked forward to a new and brighter year. She wanted it so badly, she just didn't know if she had the strength to watch Quinn kiss Jen during the ball drop while she stood on the side lines alone, watching the man she had loved since high school begin a new chapter in his life with somebody else.

"Don't worry about that, it's already sorted," Quinn said.

"Sorted how?" The brunette asked curiously.

"Well I knew I had to beg for you to come and you wouldn't be able to if Bells had nowhere to stay so I called your dads and they're fine to have her with them for the night." He explained with a proud smile.

Rachel hummed in reply knowing she couldn't say no now, not when Isabella was already taken care of and she didn't have any lessons planned for the night. With no other excuse to back out up her sleeve, she caved in.

"Fine, I'll come."

"Yes!" Quinn cheered and quickly hugged her in excitement just as Isabella arrived in the room.

"I'm ready daddy," she announced, her coat zipped up and backpack in place.

Rachel bent down to her daughter's level and hugged her goodbye while placing a kiss on her forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow okay?"

"Okay mommy," the little girl said as she welcomed her mother's kiss on her forehead before moving to take her Father's hand.

"We should get going," Quinn said as she opened the door and stepped out.

"I love you sweetheart," Rachel called out to her daughter.

"I love you too," came the response from the little girl as she and her dad disappeared out Rachel's view and the brunette shut her apartment door.

/

"And here's our contact numbers if you want to call in case something is wrong or anything. He's really fussy so don't wait long to call if he's crying or anything," Brittany mumbled towards the scared looking babysitter.

"Britts, babe you're scaring the poor girl. I think she knows what she's doing," Santana stated looking at her watch. Trust Brittany to be self-conscious about leaving Ethan in the hands of someone else.

"You know how Ethan is Santana, I need her-"

"Okay baby she will call us if there's a problem. Won't you Abby?"

"Of course Miss Lopez," the girl nodded as she cradled Ethan in her arms.

"See! Now let's go because everyone is waiting." Kissing her son's forehead she dragged Brittany away who was busy showering Ethan with kisses before they left.

Abby, the baby sitter breathed a sigh of relief as the door finally shut before walking toward the living room.

/

"Grandpa Hiram hurry up or we'll start without you."

"Oh no you will not! No one can start a game of scrabble without the master of the game himself." Hiram bragged as he walked inside the living room with two cups of hot tea and a hot chocolate and placed them on the table beside the game board.

"Yeah a master of cheating," Leroy mumbled under his breath as his husband took a seat beside him, their granddaughter sitting on her small plastic chair giggling at her grandpa Leroy.

"Just because you suck at it doesn't mean you can be bitter," Hiram teased.

"All the years I have played this game with you and Rachel, both of you always cheated sweetheart don't fool yourself."

Hiram's mouth hung open not knowing how to respond to the accusation while their granddaughter kept giggling like crazy.

"Yeah, yeah whatever, let's just play so I can wipe the floor with both of you."

"Oh Lord help us all" Leroy groaned mockingly as he nudged Isabella slightly and winked at her, the small girl continuing to giggle. Her grandpa's were so silly.

/

"I still don't understand why we had to pick up Rachel," Jen complained for the hundredth time and Quinten rolled his eyes from behind the steering wheel.

"Because she doesn't have a car Jen and I wasn't going to let her take a bus or a cab. Anyways it was me who invited her, the least I could do was give her a ride."

"Why?" She whined, clearly not content with the answer. Ever since she had found out that Quinn had invited his ex she'd been in a huff. This was supposed to be her chance to really integrate herself into Quinn's circle of friends and make her presence know. Instead she was going to be spending the night watching Rachel reconnect with the group while she sat on the side lines completely out of the loop while everyone shared old stories from high school or whatever. She was well aware of the fact that if she were to settle down and start a life with Quinn that Rachel would be part of the package because of Isabelle. But truth be told, she wasn't sure she could handle having her so close to Quinn, especially with the way her boyfriend lit up whenever he was in her presence.

"Oh my god Jen, please!" Quinn groaned, his annoyance at her behaviour more than clear in his tone. The girl knew better than to keep pushing him when his patience was wearing thin and decided to shut up throughout the rest of the car ride until they reached Rachel's apartment complex. Quinn made his way towards the apartment himself since Jen refused to get out of the car and to be honest, he was kind of glad she didn't want to come, her incessant nagging over Rachel's presence for the night was already testing his patience, and they hadn't even made it to the club yet. Reaching the now familiar door he pressed the downstairs buzzer to get in and then slipped his hands in his pockets.

/

Rachel rushed around her apartment running toward the door as the bell from outside signalled that Quinn had arrived. She knew it was him as he had promised to pick her up even though she would've rather grabbed a cab. She didn't want to spend any more time in the girls company than was necessary, however she figured she might as well try and get along with her, at least for the nigh so as not to ruin New Year's for everyone else. So, with that in mind, she agree to take Quinn up on his offer of a ride.

Reaching the door she pressed the button to unlock the downstairs entrance before walking away to go finish getting dressed.

After a moment or two, her front door buzzed and she swiftly walked to now that her heels were on and opened the door.

She was greeted with the sight of one Quentin Fabray dressed in a pair of black pants, blue bottom down shirt sporting a charming smile.

"Hey," he said, never failing to leave her breathless even after all these years.

Quinn for his part was speechless and frozen in place at the sight of Rachel. The brunette wore a short cocktail dress that reached just above her knee with a pair of 3 inch black heels to boost her height and elongate her legs, her hair pulled in a bun, not one strand out of place, her perfectly done make-up emphasised with a burst of red lipstick. Quinn felt his heart beating as wildly as it did the first time he laid eyes on her.

"Quinn?" Rachel questioned, trying hard to hide the smirk that was fighting to spread across her lips. At least she could still leave him speechless.

"Wh-a-what?" he stuttered feeling his mouth dry, unable to swallow and his friend downstairs stirring to acknowledge the beauty before him and in that moment Quinn prayed Rachel didn't glance down in that direction and notice the affect she had on him. 'You have a girlfriend Lucas' he scolded himself.

Rachel giggled because, dear lord, she just couldn't help herself knowing Quinn was probably hot and bothered because of her.

"Shall we go?" she finally asked.

"Ye-eh-yeah," Quinn managed to get out, trying to act casual even though he was failing hard.

"Okay," Rachel grinned, turning around to retrieve her purse before stepping out of the apartment, shutting the door behind her and walking just slightly ahead of Quinn so that he could watch the sway of her hips.

Quinn found himself following Rachel's walk with his eyes as they trailed her from top to bottom taking in every inch of her, his eyes staying fixed on her ass longer than necessary before descending down to her long smooth legs that seems to go on forever despite her height, no doubt due to the towering heels she had on. Rachel's legs had always been one of Quinn's weaknesses, seriously the way she used to wrap them around his waist… His eyes instantly widened at the realisation of his perverted thoughts and he suddenly found himself trying to think of dead puppies or anything to cool him down.

/

To say the car ride was uncomfortable would be an understatement because as soon as Quinn and Rachel stepped out the building talking and laughing, Jen's green eyed monster appeared. When Rachel slid inside the car she scowled at the brunette so hard that if looks could kill Rachel would've died on the spot.

What really irked her though was when Quinn opened the door for Rachel to get out. Even though the blonde had done the same for her, she didn't miss the way Quinn had extended his hand to help Rachel out, having failed to extend the same courtesy to Jen. She decided not to voice her annoyance at Quinn's act out of the fear of causing an argument, instead she settled with glaring at Rachel and then her boyfriend. Either Quinn didn't see the look or he chose to ignore her but Rachel definitely saw it but said nothing as the trio headed toward the club.

/

"Finally!" Santana exclaimed once she spotted Quinn with his two ladies. 'Fucking pimp' she thought with a smirk as she watched them cross the room.

"Oh hush Satan, we didn't take that long," Quinn retorted as he lead his ladies to sit them down, pulling out a seat for both of them further fuelling Jen's growing fire.

"And here I thought you'd be early since you brought the Hobbit with you," the Latina added glancing at Rachel.

"It's always a pleasure to see you Santana," the brunette stated sarcastically.

"You do realise this is an over 21 club right Quinn," Kurt suddenly spoke up having glanced briefly at Quinn's younger girlfriend causing the Gleeks to snicker at his remark.

"Hey don't sweat it Q, 18 year olds are welcome too, just no drinkin' cause I ain't paying the fine if you get caught," Puck added with a chuckle.

"Excuse me!" Jen said with a dejected tone as she stood up and left the gang alone.

"Seriously guys? We just got here! Why did you have to do that?" Quinn said rather annoyed as he followed after Jen.

"If she can't take a joke then she obviously doesn't belong here!" Santana called out over the loud music, "Isn't that right shrimp," she said turning to Rachel and grinning.

"Screw you Satan" the brunette bit back.

The Latina raised up her glass and tilted it toward the brunette smiled widely. "It's great to have the old you back Berry," she said and then took a sip.

Rachel couldn't help but smile because that was Santana's sort of way of saying, 'we cool'. It's a known fact that the relationship between the two of them had been complicated, they'd always had a bit of a tug-o-war friendship that went back and forth depending on their given mood but there was always a mutual respect underneath the surface. The fact of the matter was, Santana had also been hurt by Rachel up and leaving. Though she had always been Quinn's friend first, over the years, both she and Rachel had established a friendship that Santana valued. So it wasn't just Rachel walking out on Quinn and Bella that had hurt, it was the fact that she too had lost a good friend. But slowly, over time, Santana was beginning to see the old Rachel and she couldn't help the way the smaller brunette was burrowing her way back into her heart.

xox

"Jen wait!" Quinn called out trying to chase after the girl through the sea of dancing people.

"Leave me alone Quinten," she finally said just as she was able to reach the exit. Just as she was about to leave Quinn caught her by the arm. "Let me go or trust me I will scream!" she said, still fuming over the jabs about her age that Quinn's friends had made. Seriously if she knew his friends were this rude…

The blonde reluctantly let go. "Where are you going?"

"Home! Where else do you think? How can you just sit there and watch as your friends make jokes about me!" She shouted angrily over the music.

"Okay, I didn't let them make fun of you! That's just how they are, didn't you see how Santana was with Rachel. You just gotta take it on the chin and shoot back," Quinn replied.

"Well sorry to disappoint you but I'm not Rachel!" Jen sighed and tried once again to move toward the exit.

"Jen please! Just stay ok. Look they're great people, they were just joking around. Just give them a chance. Please?" He begged and the brunette looked at Quinn unsure. Okay, he wouldn't have minded her going, after all, he had wanted to spend the night without her to begin with, but he also didn't want to seem like a jerk so the least he could do was convince her to stay. Besides he did care for her deeply.

"Fine," Jen growled moving passed Quinn to head back to the table. Shaking his head at her antics Quinten chuckled and followed after her.

xox

When they finally walked back to the table they found the gang minus Puck and Finn deep in conversation. From the sounds of it they were all telling old stories and Quinn would bet anything Santana was shamelessly embarrassing Rachel by the look on the brunette's face.

"Hey, did the bouncer tell you to come back in until he called your mommy to come pick you up?" the Latina joked.

"Santana!" Both Brittany and Quinn warned in unison and Jen glared at Santana although it just looked like an attempted glare to Santana. Having grown up witnessing the glare of one Sue Sylvester and even Quinten Fabray, Santana could safely say no one could glare at her intimidate her.

"Alright guys, drinks are all on the house," Puck hollered as he and Finn placed glasses of various different alcoholic beverages and shots on the table. The club was packed to the brim with people prepping to ring in the New Year. Puck knew the tills would be ringing all night. Finn passed the now empty trays off to a passing bartender and then sat next to his girlfriend.

"Hi baby," Finn grinned leaning over and kissing her softly on the lips.

"Hey hey now, not everyone at this table is coupled off tonight," Kurt pouted.

"Rachel," Santana said through a fake cough.

"I really hope you choke," Rachel responded with a sickeningly sweet tone and a smirk as Santana flipped her the bird.

"Alright you two enough," Mercedes said rolling her eyes.

"Mike! What are you doing man, get off your phone," Puck shouted as he tried reaching to snatch the device away only to have Mike pull back towards himself.

"I'm texting Tina, I want to know if she and the baby and Junior are alright," he said.

"Don't worry Mike, you're not the only one that's been texting it seems," Santana said raising her brow at Brittany who was trying to hide her phone from sight.

"I'm sorry but you know how I feel about leaving Ethan alone," the blonde pouted at her wife.

"Alright you sad people, up!" Mercedes instructed and the gang followed, "Dance floor," she announced taking Puck's hand into hers and dragging him along with her to the dance floor.

Kurt squealed doing the same with Rachel and most of the Gleeks moved toward the dance floor, leaving just Jen and Quinn and the brunette smirked.

"Maybe we should have some fun of our own now that they're gone," She grinned.

"Wha-" Quinn's confused stupor was interrupted once Jen climbed into his lap and pulled him into a searing kiss.

Out on the dance floor Rachel glanced towards their table only to find Quinn in a lip lock with Jen and she almost threw up at the sight.

"Hey what's wrong?" Kurt shouted over the music as he realised his dancing partner wasn't dancing anymore. He tried following her line of sight but he was blocked by a sea of people moving around.

"N-nothing. I just suddenly don't feel the need to dance anymore," The brunette said trying but failing to smile.

"But we literally just started dancing," the young man pouted, "I wanted to show you my dance moves," he continued as he then proceed to attempt to break dance.

Rachel shook her head as she found herself chuckling at his antics. "Well you can stay and danc-". Before she could finish what she was about to say she was cut off by Kurt.

"No, I'll come with you. We could just go back to the table," he said.

"Actually, I'm in a mood to sit at the bar instead," Rachel replied, more than eager to avoid the situation currently getting underway at their table.

Kurt scrunched up his brow before shrugging. "Fine, let's get our shots on," he said before pulling her with him.

/

"EW! Get a fucking room!" Santana screeched out once she and Brittany walked back to the table to find Quinn's tongue practically down Jen's throat.

At the sound of Santana's horrified screech Jen pulled away smiling shyly at the eyes that stared at her.

"I think the liquor I consumed is coming back up," Kate, Finn's girlfriend commented as the rest if the gang appeared and sat down in their original seats.

"Amen!" Mercedes added with one hand up in a praise manner.

Quinn just kissed Jen's cheek to ease her mind over the teasing while deciding to ignore his friend's comments before something caught his attention.

"Where's Rache?" he asked. The rest of the group looked around only to realise that the brunette wasn't there. "And Kurt?" Quinn added so as to hide his rather obvious concern for the wellbeing of the mother of his child, especially after Jen flashed him a questioning look.

"Who knows and who cares?" Santana stated uninterested in the current search warrant out on two members of their group.

"They're probably still on the dance floor," Mercedes commented.

Quinn shifted uneasily at the thought of Rachel still on the dance floor without the rest of the gang around her.

'Probably dancing with some sweaty asshole' he thought, 'Not that I care or anything!'

'Dude relax! She's probably dancing with Kurt' he reasoned with himself.

'Oh right, she's with Kurt. Good!'

"Q!" Snapping out of his thoughts he found the eyes of his girlfriend staring questioningly at him.

"What?" he asked confused, his friends ignored him and went back to their previous conversation but Jen stared at him suspiciously as if she knew something.

/

Kurt and Rachel had been sitting at the bar for a while now, a few shots here and there and Rachel was getting sort of tipsy, but not tipsy enough to not realise what was going or be aware of her surroundings. In this particular moment Kurt was telling her about the many adventures he has had but then the boy stopped short and Rachel glanced at him in wonder.

"Alright Berry, don't look now but that guy is totally checking you out!" he squealed, fanning himself.

The brunette twisted herself around slightly to look where he was gazing only to find a curly haired guy smiling at her before winking. He sort of reminded her of Jesse and the brunette suddenly felt cold.

"He's not my type," She spoke up as she turned back around to face Kurt.

"Oh yeah because your type is blonde hair, hazel eyes, a smoky, husky, deep voice, just the right height, used to be the star quarterback," he responded with a raised brow. Kurt saw the way Rachel looked at Quinn, he didn't need Rachel pouring her heart out to him to know the brunette was still deeply in love with Quinn.

"What?" she asked as if pretending not to know what it was he was talking about.

"Never mind. Look Rach, you really need to get back on the market," Kurt said as he put his hand on her knees. He hated the fact that while she sat and sulked in self-pity over her feelings for Quinn, the blonde was busy screwing Jen.

Which baffled Kurt because in all the time he had known Quinn, he had never known the man to mess around with people's feelings, sure he had flirted and dated many girls in high school before Rachel, but he never let a girl get close unless he genuinely felt something deep for them, and Kurt could tell from observing him with Jen, that while he did care for the girl deeply, his feelings didn't seem to be on the same level as he younger brunettes. Something was holding Quinn back and it didn't take having a degree in rocket science for Kurt to figure out that that something came in shape, size and stature of a certain other brunette who looked just like a grown up Isabella.

"I think I quite like being single," Rachel smiled cheekily, taking a sip from her glass and pulling Kurt from his inner thoughts.

"Yeah well maybe you should tell him that," he said as he glanced over Rachel's shoulder.

"What?" the brunette asked looking confused about his statement.

"He's coming over now," Kurt said and just as he finished a new voice spoke.

"Hi, I'm Chase," the young man said holding out his hand towards Rachel who just stared at it not shaking it.

"And I'm Kurt, this is Rachel," Kurt said while shaking his hand, jumping in to cover for his friend who seemed to have temporarily shut her brain off. "Why don't you sit right here and I'm just gonna be right over...there" he suggested as he grabbed his drink and made a quick exit.

"Kurt don't you dare…" Rachel started to say but the boy was already waving bye to her. Once she was left alone with the guy she had just met Rachel chuckled nervously at him. "Hi..."

His pearly white teeth flashed in a smile looking her up and down with lust in his eyes.

/

"And these idiots!" Santana said pointing at Quinn, Puck and Finn, "Confessed it was us who did it because they're a bunch of pussies!" she spat out as she rolled her eyes at the end of her story.

"We were gonna get pulled out of the game!" Finn exclaimed, his arm tightening gently around his girlfriend's waist.

Santana scoffed. "You know Bieste was bluffing, you three were her best players. I doubt she would've actually pulled you outta the game."

"She did to Dave," Puck argued trying to defend himself and the boys.

"Dave was an asshole and a shit defender anyway," Santana added with a cock of a perfectly sculpted eyebrow just as Kurt appeared.

"Hey guys, what are we talking about?" he asked as he plopped himself down on an empty seat.

"Where's Rach?" Quinn automatically asked trying to spot the brunette but to no avail.

"Let's just say if things go well, our little diva will get lucky tonight," the fashion forward man winked turning towards Mercedes and high fiving her as she grinned back at him.

"What's that supposed to me?" Quinn questioned with an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Santana rolled her eyes, more than interesting to see how this would play out, especially with the way Jen was practically seething in her seat next to the blond who didn't seem to notice his girlfriends reaction.

"Dude it means she may be going home with someone to fill her empty cold side of the bed tonight," Puck explained with that trademark smirk of his, waggling his eyebrows in the process as he thrust his hips for added emphasis.

"Even I know what he meant," Finn added, looking at Quinn like he had just asked a completely dumb question.

"I can't believe you! Are you actually serious?" Quinn shouted.

"Excuse me?" Kurt was confused at the sudden outburst from the man across from him who looked like he was about to murder someone.

"How can you just pass your friend off like some piece of meat to a complete stranger!" Quinn yelled, sitting forward so that he was speaking directly in Kurt's direction.

"Okay Mr Hulk! 1. Rachel is a big girl and can handle herself, 2. I don't see how it's any of your business what or who she does!" Kurt said trying to defend himself.

"Yes Quentin, Rachel can handle herself," Jen spoke up, throwing a questionable look at her boyfriend who looked angrier than Jen had ever seen him.

"You don't even know the guy!" And with that said, Quinn stood up and moved away from Jen and started walking towards the dance floor in search of the missing brunette.

"San…." Puck started but the Latina already knew what he meant as she and Finn stood up and chased after him.

"What's going on?" Jen asked confused, and Kurt was still trying to work out just how Quinn could be so ignorant to the situation that was playing out right in front of his nose.

"Come on baby, are you sure you don't want to dance?" Chase asked for the hundredth time. He was barely able to get much out of Rachel in terms of conversation, it seemed like she wasn't much of a talker or was probably blowing him off, but she was too hot to just give up without trying, so he bought her and himself a drink in the hopes of finding a reason to talk to her.

While he spoke all Rachel did was hum and nod here and there, feigning interest. She was still resisting his approach toward her so he decided to be a little more forward and ask her to dance, to which she made up the excuse of being tired, but he was determined to get her to agree.

"No, I'm tired," the brunette said again sounding annoyed.

"Just one dance." Chase says whispering close to her ear, his arm going around her waist in an intimate manner.

"I think she said no, so hands off," a seething voice said from behind the two and Rachel swirled around so fast she almost ended up with whiplash.

"Excuse me buddy but this ain't any of your business," Chase responded standing up straight to face Quinn.

The blonde took a step closer to the other guy coming face to face with him.

"I'm not your buddy," he smiled sarcastically.

"Whatever man," Chase said as he turned back toward Rachel, "C'mon babe lets can go somewhere quieter," he suggested as he once again placed his arm around Rachel's waist.

"I don't think you understood me, take your hands off of her!" the blonde growled reaching toward Chase and pulling his arm away from Rachel's waist in a twist. "No means no, buddy!"

"Take your hands off of me!" Chase screamed trying to twist out of Quinn's grip, managing to free himself enough to turn and punch the blonde in the face.

"Quinn!" Rachel yelped but Quinn wasn't worried about his face as he quickly bounced back to his feet and landed a punch himself. "Oh my God!" Rachel screeched, clasping a hand over her mouth in shock as the dancing crowd stopped moving edged out of the way as the two guys leaped into a full on fist fight.

Finn and Puck quickly pushed their way through the gathering crowd and each tried to restrain the two men to pull them away from one another other.

"Q stop it!" Finn grunted using his taller frame against Quentin because he knew, although Quinn was shorter than him, he was much stronger and years of being the football captain would tell you that.

"Alright guys break it up!" one of Puck's night shift bouncers boomed as two security guys came over. There was an absolute no fighting policy and Puck being the owner of the club knew that. Just because Quinn was his friend didn't mean the rules didn't apply to him.

Both security guards moved towards each guy taking them by the arm and began leading them both out of the club.

"Puck seriously!" Quinn shouted.

"Sorry man, you're my bro and all but I gotta set an example," Puck shrugged, looking apologetically at his friend who was being led away by the security toward the exit.

"What happened?" Mike asked in disbelieve towards Rachel. To be honest the brunette didn't know how to feel about Quinn's act. Should she be happy because he punched Chase to defend her honour? Or mad because yet again he was sending her mixed signals by involving himself in something that didn't concern him when he should've been with his own girlfriend?

Anyone who knew Quinn would tell you that the blonde hated fighting, he barely got in any unless provoked and the last fight Rachel remembers was back in high school while on an away game. Both she and Santana had begged Sue to let Rachel cheer to surprise Quentin during the game as it was his birthday, and although reluctant, Sue had agreed. However one of the guys on the other team decided to be an asshole and grabbed Rachel's ass through the short cheerio skirt and Quinn saw red.

They had to forfeit the game because the other team member was rushed to the hospital and Quinn had been banned from the game for a few weeks. Beiste, although not pleased with Quentin's actions, was proud of her player for defending his girlfriend. Chase was lucky both Puck and Finn jumped in when they did because the last thing she wanted was to explain to her daughter why her father spent the night in jail.

"Rachel!" Realising she was being spoken to she snapped out of her thought to look at the person who was talking to her, only to find most of the gleeks looking at her with questioning stares, while Santana just looked pissed off when she noticed the missing presence of Jen. Her psychic Mexican third eye was telling her that something was about to go down that was about to cause more problems.

"I...I have to go guys, I'm sorry." Rachel quickly turned toward the exit ignoring both Mercedes and Kurt's calls after her.

/

"What the hell is wrong with you!" Jen screamed walking behind Quinn.

Although a part of her was baffled by her boyfriend's action another part of her knew exactly why he had reacted that way, the same part that she actively tried to ignore because she didn't want to accept what was right in front of her eyes.

"Don't start with me Jen. I'm not in the mood for your bullshit right now!" Quinn threw back walking towards where he had parked his car.

"Don't start with you? You just got into a fist fight with a guy because of what exactly? Because he was hitting on your ex-girlfriend?" she argued back, not content to just leave things be.

"You don't know what you're talking about Jen," Quinn said finally having turned around to face her, anger still flashing in his eyes.

Jen was taken aback by at the look in Quinn's eyes, she seriously had never seen him look so angry.

"Really? Well enlighten me then because all I'm seeing here is you punched a guy because you got jealous of him hitting on Rachel, right?" she yelled, standing her ground against him. She really was confused and hurt, why did he have to act like that? And over his ex of all people, the one person who Jen felt the most threatened by. The one who she was all too aware could be the breaking point in her relationship with Quinn. But Jen was tired, she was tired of constantly having to question Quinn's intentions and feelings because of the mere presence of Rachel Berry.

"I punched a guy because he was trying to force the mother of my kid into a situation she didn't want to be, just like I would've done for Santana, or Mercedes or Brittany or you." Quinn simply stated feeling defeated because even he didn't understand why he felt so much anger toward that idiot. It was the exact same anger he felt when Rachel had started dating that idiot of an exchange student back in high school before they had begun dating but that was a jealous type of anger, why would he…

'I'm not! I can't be!' Quinn thought to himself as realisation had finally dawned on him and he was hit smack in the face with the truth that he had been trying to deny.

"Are you in love with her?" Jen gasped in realisation, she was seriously starting to believe that Quinn liked Rachel more than he was letting, more than she wanted to believe but to the point that he might still be IN love? The brunette suddenly found herself unable to breathe, she felt like she just got hit with a bucket of ice cold water. "Are you?" she asked again as a tiny tear rolled down her cheek as her eyes stared right at Quinn who stood in a state of shock. "Quentin!" She yelled sounding hurt, angry and so many other emotions she could barely comprehend.

"No!" He finally yelled back. "No, I'm not I…" he swallowed hard feeling his heart suddenly pick up at the thought of what Jen just said, "I'm not," he whispered, barely able to speak around the lump in his throat as he realised he didn't believe a single word he had just said, and yet those words passed his lips.

"I can't believe this," Jen spoke lowly and quietly. "I can't believe this," she repeated her voice getting louder. "You are!" She couldn't do this, she couldn't stand there right here in front of Quinn after this. She had to get away!

"Jen wait!" Quinn called out chasing after the girl who was heading back toward the entrance of the club. When she ignored him Quinn quickened his pace finally able to reach her and then grabbed her arm, spun her around and crashed their lips together.

The kiss was so hard it almost knocked Jen off balance but Quinn steadied her by wrapping his arm around her waist, pulling her even closer to him as the kiss deepened.

The two were too busy basking in their kiss to notice the door open and Rachel step out, a smile on her face that only faltered when her eyes landed on the vision of the two people I front of her kissing. She really thought Quinn had been jealous and that was why he had punched Chase. She honestly believed that there was still something there, that his feelings were just as strong as her own.

'Looks like I was wrong,' Rachel thought sadly feeling her heart fill with a pain she hadn't felt since the day she left for New York. Finally she watched the two pull away and listened as Quinn spoke the words to Jen that killed her inside.

"I love you."

She couldn't stay there anymore. She needed to go back inside and drink herself into oblivion in the hopes that it would take pain away, at least for the night.

'I was definitely wrong.'

Jen felt like she was on top of the world, she couldn't understand why she ever doubted Quinn's feelings for her. He loved her, not Rachel, her!

"Let's go home," Quinn said holding out his hand to her. He knew he shouldn't have kissed Jen, that he should never have uttered those three words knowing that they were far from being true, but he needed her to stop question him, to stop questioning what he was slowly realising. Quinn knew that he shouldn't lead her on but he was still conflicted between what his heart was telling him and what his head was telling him. Jen smiled shyly at him reaching up to peck his cheek before accepting his hand, and as Quinn lead them back to the parked car, she knew she was going to make this night special for him.

/

The next morning when Quinn woke up, he carefully untangled himself from Jen before sliding out of the bed and walking toward the en-suite. As the light came on his reflection stared right back at him through the mirror and the blonde stood there just staring ahead. The necklace Rachel made for him years ago dangling from his neck, though he never told Jen of its origin. He really didn't understand his feelings, however a part of him knew exactly why this was the case but he was either in denial or hadn't come to accept it yet. But what he did know was that he needed to talk to Rachel. He needed to understand what was going on and hopefully she could help sort through the mess in his head.

So with that thought in mind he grabbed a hot shower before getting dressed and leaving the house with Jen still asleep and the blonde had one destination in mind. 'Rachel's place'

/

As his car came to a stop, the blonde got out of the vehicle and approached the building and he didn't have to ring the bell to be buzzed in as someone was coming out the building so he just slid in after them and quickly rode the elevator to Rachel's floor. As he slowly approached her door he felt himself grow nervous, the same nervousness he felt when he first asked her out and on his way to pick her up for their first date, but this wasn't high school and he wasn't a teen anymore. They were adults and they could talk like adults!

His fist finally made contact with the door knocking gently. He only had to wait a few moments before it opened to reveal Rachel wrapped in a bathrobe and Quentin almost lost himself as his eyes wandered from her legs to her eyes.

"Quinn? Wha-what are you doing here?" Rachel asked? Quinn scrunched up his brow in confusion as to why she sounded so nervous.

"I think we need to talk," he said, expecting her to let him walk right in but that wasn't the case as Rachel stood leaning against the door as if trying to shield him from stepping inside.

"Oh, now?" she questioned looking sideways quickly.

"Uhm, yeah. It's important Rachel," he said.

"If it's about last night then you don't have to explain anything. I would actually like to thank you for what you did, although I do not tolerate violence, it was nice of you," she smiled shyly at him and Quinn blushed.

"You know I would do it all over if it means I'm protecting you," he replied and now it was time for Rachel to blush, "So can, can I come in?"

"Uhm, I-" but the brunette was suddenly interrupted.

"I thought last night was a dream when I woke up and didn't see you beside me, then I realise I didn't wake in my bed and-" the person stopped when he saw Quinn standing there gaping at him.

His chest was bare and he only sported a pair of boxer briefs.

"Oh hey buddy," the guy said, not even an ounce of shame as he addressed Rachel ,"I didn't know you had company." Quinn was seething, these idiots really needed to stop calling him 'mate'. He wasn't their 'mate'.

Rachel smiled nervously as she began to grown uncomfortable.

"Um, Quinn this is Brody. Brody, Quinn," she introduced but Quinn was far from listening as his gaze was on the this half naked guy standing in Rachel's apartment confirming exactly what they were up to last night.

"I'm sorry what?" Quinn said finally snapping out of his shock as his eyes bored into Rachel then finally shifted up to glance at Brody who shifted nervously on the ball of his foot.

"Brody and I met last night," Rachel explained still feeling uncomfortable.

"I see," the bitterness in Quinn's voice was hard to miss, "Good on you Rach. And you too...buddy!" he forced out with a fake smile. "I um, I should go. I need to pick Bella up and…."

"Quinn…," Rachel started but he was already backing away from her as she began to speak.

"I'll drop her by later, I guess," he said before he quickly turned around and left.

Rachel sighed as she watched Quinn all but run toward the staircase instead of taking the elevator. She really didn't understand his actions lately. Last night he defended her and Rachel thought it was out of jealousy, then he was kissing Jen like his life depended on it, telling her he loved her, and now he all but ran away as if he got burned, and the look he shot Brody, she was so confused.

"So...that's Quinn?" Brody said pulling Rachel out of her thoughts. The brunette said nothing but just nodded her head and closed the door.

"Alright hold on!" Santana hollered out at the loud banging through the door. She seriously needed a butler because she couldn't deal with her crazy visitors who felt the need to bang on her door instead of ringing the damn doorbell, waking her up from her beautiful sleep wrapped up in her warm bed sheets with her wife.

"I'm seriously about to kick your damn ass I swear to god!" she threatened once the banging continued.

"What!" came her angry yell once she whipped the door open.

"The fuck you idiot!" she said with an annoyed tone at the person she found, "what happened to you? You look like a homeless drunk," she joked, but the person didn't even crack a smile nor try to defend themselves. "Q?" Santana questioned once the guy did nothing but stare right at her.

"What happened?" the teasing smile was wiped away now to be replaced with a look of concern.

"I'm in love with Rachel."
