So as I'm starting this chapter I just wanna say the prologue already has 4 people who read it. All I can say is. FEAR MY GROWTH.

Enjoy ya Shmucks.

"God it's so damn early! I swear captain is just training us by this point to resist torture."

"Pfft please as if. That damn rat probably just hates superiors being shocked his base is so clean."

"Hah!..Hey what do you say to us skipping work redhead over th-"

With a snarl a young red headed 16 year old woman turned away from polishing a near sparkling floor with her hair that went down the middle of her back tied into a basic pony tail pinned her fellow 2 marines a glare that would freeze hell over. "Or you two can do your damn job and actually move up the ladder and start fighting those villainous pirates! Fucking chop chop Captain Nezumi assigned us this task!"

As she turned back to the floor she had been polishing and steadfastly ignoring the pain in her knees and back from staying hunched over so long she with long practice easily tuned it out as her fellow marine grunts muttered. "Fucking Ava I still bet she's trying to get into the captain's pants..." As they begrudgingly returned to work as well.

With a small snort of annoyance Ava tried to vent her frustrations by scrubbing harder at the tiles underneath and using the mental image of her rag being a pirate's face to settle her frustrations a bit as she slowly made her way down the hall to continue her tedious job with a hard glare down at the floor and occasionally taking the time to smooth out her uniform now and then.

Just as she was passing by the door to her captain's office she had to fight down a wince as she heard Captain Nezumi's voice. "Chi chi chi! Sir's please it's my honor to keep track of Arlong's movements! I understand the risk me and my men are under but I swear! On my honor as a marine the second Arlong does something heinous and utterly evil I shall do my best to arrest him like any other pirate and if me and my men fall then all I hope is that we'll last long enough for reinforcements to arrive and put an end to his villainous ways!"

As Ava tried to deny the fact that she was eavesdropping she couldn't stop herself from wearing a small proud smile as she listened in and despite her distaste for the man she felt her heart swell with joy as she noticed a small bit of muck on the floor and attacked at it with renewed vigor as she listened to her captain's reports to his superior's she was just about to start tuning him out until the dry monotone voice of a Den Den Mushi. "Purururururu-Ka click!"

As Ava started eavesdropping again she couldn't help but wonder who her captain was calling as the shuffling of his chair and the sound of 2 thumps signaled he had leaned back in his chair in a leisurely position of leaning back in his chair with his feet up on his desk as he snickered loudly. "Chi chi chi chi! Weellll hello Arlong~!"

With those 3 words Ava's spine went ramrod straight as she slowly feeling as if her muscles were stones grinding against one another she stared at the barely open door of her superior with a her mind racing a million miles. T-this...this can't be captain...W-wait maybe he's calling a different Arlong! That must be it! As she slowly crept closer to the door and focused all her efforts into just listening although did occasionally glance up and down the hallway to check if she was alone.

As she stood there dreading what she heard whoever was on the other side of the line was interrupted by Nezumi once again as he chuckled happily. "I just felt like letting you know I had quite the interesting call with my 'superiors'-" Ava fought down the urge to kick the door open and throttle the man for the way he said superior's as she pressed herself against the wall silently. "Why they were calling about a certain big fish in east blue~! Such a shame I had nothing to report aside from some swimming around huh?"

And with a loud bellowing laugh Ava dug her fingernails into her palms at what sounded like nothing but the voice of pure evil as she bit down her snarl and waited as the voice started talking and she swore she heard the gleaming bloodthirsty grin he was wearing as Arlong spoke. "Oh yeah? Huh guess rat's really are good at spreading disease ain't they?" And fought down the urge to giggle to herself as she heard the leather arm rests of Nazumi's chair creak as he squeezed them as Arlong went on. "Have to say this new partnership is working out awfully well! After all it would slow down my plans if I had to deal with marine's constantly on my ass. I'll be sure to give you a little 'gift' in the next shipment...some no good human woman didn't have my 100,000 this month! Shahahaha Shahahaha!" And Arlong's bellowing laughter was reflected by the rat like snickering of her captain as they moved on to other business.

Ava spent a few minutes standing there in open mouthed shock and disgust and as much as she would later tell herself it was a tactical retreat with the new information she couldn't lie to herself as she silently grabbed the bucket she had been dunking her rag in and walked away as quietly but as quickly as possible with the feeling that her stomach was twisted into knots and new for a fact that she wasn't going to be eating tonight...and maybe even be lucky to make it to the end of the day without throwing up.

Later that night Ava was found alongside many other of the marines making use of the mess hall as while other's greedily wolfed down their food as if they were starving she was just staring down at her pile of mashed potatoes with a blank stare slowly poking and moving it around as she slowly blinked herself back out of her daze and with a soft sigh slowly ate a forkful of the now cold spuds with her stomach still in not. I-...What the fuck? I always knew Captain wasn't the bravest but...he laughed at the idea of taking in a slave woman.

Shaking her head lightly to try and clear her thoughts the young red head looked around before she blinked at seeing the pair she had chewed out that morning only sitting a little away from her laughing as they talked about what they did after ditching work way too loudly as she cleared he throat and waved for their attention. Once their now slightly annoyed eyes were on her Ava did her best to not show her shakiness as she casually asked. "So I've been wondering but what made you two join the marines?..."

The duo stared at her oddly for the question and shared a confused glance until the one on the right suddenly snickered and caught his friends attention before mumbling to him. "Told ya she was a ditz if she didn't even comment." Before he turned to look at her with his friend laughing in the background. "Simple easy money and you get so many privileges over civvies!" And as his friend slowly got his laughter in control he nodded with a cocky smirk at her before the two turned away to continue their conversation.

As they talked Ava's expression didn't shift an inch throughout their speech as she eventually found the Herculean strength to turn away and stare down at her food again and did make an honest effort to continue eating. She eventually found she just didn't have the strength for it and with a long sigh she slowly made her way out of the mess hall and made a point of passing her plate to one of the large marines so the food didn't go to waste as she wandered aimlessly once again with a glazed over expression.

It was late in the night as everyone except Ava and the night guards outside the barracks when her numb shock gave way to her ice cold rage once again as she started to shake in her bottom bunk with a glare at the top of her bunk that could make even the Admiral's icy powers pail in comparison as after a few moments the red head threw her pillow over her face and let out an endless scream into it and nearly started ripping strips out of it with her teeth in her rage.

After spending the better part of an hour venting her frustration's into the poor pillow Ava finally brought it away from her face with said face now being red from spending so long seemingly trying to suffocate herself as she slowly caught her breath with her frigid glare pointed up still as she muttered to herself. "Don't let your rage burn let it sharpen itself, don't let your rage burn let it sharpen itself-" On loop as the blossoming fiery rage that came naturally to her slowly died away to the cold fury she hung onto as she thought over her plans from here.

I could just quit...no that won't work who knows if that shady fucking rat even let's people quit...Besides I need ti break into his office for some evidence and if I quit afterwards it'll be obvious who stole from him...

And as the night went on the red headed woman planned to quietly on how to make it out of the base with the information she needed and probably one last 'fuck you!' To the base as a whole.

"Longest 3 fucking days of my fucking life holy fuck..." Was the eloquent mumbling coming to Ava's mouth as she slowly worked on her uniform one final time in the darkest of night's as surrounding her was her very soon to be ex bunk mates as she tied up her laces and did a mental inventory of how things were going. Key to the rat bastard's office? Check, one of the smaller faster life boats hidden away in the docks? Check, oil to set his office on fire? And with a small sigh as she finished lacing up her boot she slowly stood and started making her way towards the exit that lead to majority of the base as she muttered bitterly. "Nada...He does have a liquor closet tho." And with a small sinister smile she hurried along as silently as she could.

As she made it to the door that lead closest to Nezumi's office Ava began to slowly creak it open and winced upon hearing the quiet squeaks of the hinges and after chancing a glance back over her shoulder sighed in relief upon just finding the other marines snoring away peacefully still as she quickly slipped her way out, shut the door behind her, and started walking as if nothing was wrong while hoping no one would question her being on night watch as she made her way into the much larger building looming in front of the barracks.

As Ava watched a couple guards make their way inside without noticing her she was quick to follow them silently and where they turned left to head to the front gates she went left to slip through the maze of corridors that made up the marine base and soon enough she found herself standing on front of the door to Nezumi's office with a cold sweat making her uniform uncomfortable as she looked down upon the very floor she polished 3 days ago and saw her troubled reflection looking back at her.

So...here it is. Beyond this door is a room of scum, corruption, and a spit in the face of all things good...m-maybe I can just turn back and forget this? As that thought crossed her mind Ava looked back towards the way she came with clenched fists as she nervously worked her bottom lip between her teeth. I'm just one woman what can I really do? I couldn't save mom and I think I can just fight the system?

Looking back at the door again Ava swore it looked over her as she stared it down to the best of her ability while flipping the key to it nervously. "...H-hero's..." And with a frown at how squeaky her voice was she cleared he throat, took a deep breath, and set her spine straight as she held her head high. "Heroes don't care about the odds!" And with her confidence faked she shoved the key into the keyhole, unlocked the door, and slipped in while shutting it behind her making her decision.

Standing there now Ava was quick to do a scan of the room and her nervousness slowly came away to find an empty, and in her opinion way too decked out office as she spied the large liquor case standing against a wall, a bookshelf full to the brim with important information (that she now suspects Nezumi of never really reading), an expensive looking bear skin rug, and finally the whole reason for her journey was staring at her as filling a noticeable portion of the room was a massive mahogany desk that she made he way towards with a determined glare filling her face.

After nearly 2 hours of scouring and stealing Ava now found herself slouched back on Nezumi's expensive leather chair staring up at the ceiling with a blank emotionless expression as spread out in front of her was worse then what she could've imagined.

What seemed to start as only one corrupt captain now became much more then she could've expected as staring back at her where commands from the world government to protect some slave traders and take payments, multiple pirates under Nezumi's protection, and praise from some of the higher ups that she couldn't tell if they were for his 'heroic' actions and occasionally some form of praise for protecting the slave trade.

While staring up at the ceiling Ava eventually built up the energy to let out a long sigh and leaned back into searching the desk as she was looking for something this Spandam character had sent Nezumi to help with his 'missions' until she eventually found a decently sized chest stored within one of the drawers and threw it open as she stared down at a pair of items. A strange looking fruit that in some form resembled a watermelon but instead of having the signature lines it was instead covered in strange spirals and as she tried to focus on on one of the spirals she found her eyes glazed over it and soon lost herself in just staring at the fruit.

After a bit she eventually managed to shake it off and looked into the chest for the next item in the chest and found a large scroll that was simply labeled 'The six powers' and stuffed it into her bag alongside a large folder of the papers with plans to put a stop to what she could, and then found some thick stacks of beri notes with the top note being a 10,000 beri bill and stuffed a couple into her bag too before she took a deep breath and stared back at the fruit nervously. So...a devil fruit huh? I don't really have enough room in the bag for it. Well I'll need every advantage I can get.

And with grim determination she hefted up the fruit the size of her head and cautiously sniffed at it but upon finding it had no scent she shrugged, sighed, and brought it up to her mouth to take a large bite with juices dripping down her chin.

One chew, two chews, and a deep swallow forced the chunk of fruit down her throat. Then the flavor set in. With a chocked gurgle Ava dropped the fruit as her hands clasped at her throat with her face going from her deep tan to a sickly green as she barely chocked out a. "F-fucking holy shit!" As she fell to the floor gagging at the flavors of dumpster water where the juice was, crunchy mold for the peel, and the mushy insides tasted as if she had blended up all the contents of every bathroom on base.

Stumbling her way towards the liquor case she threw it open and after some searching she found a bottle of tequila and poured a near quarter of the bottle into her mouth and relished the painful burn of it fighting against the horrible taste of the fruit as she gurgled the powerful drink with tears in the corners of her eyes and after the worst of it passed she turned her head and spat the mouthful out onto the bearskin rug with a sigh. "Wow...that was not fucking worth it."

After shaking off number 7 on most scarring moments of her life Ava chanced a peak out the window and sighed in relief again at seeing how it was still dark out with the lack of a visible moon making it still dark out as she turned to the rest of the liquor cabinet and her green cheeks were quick to turn back to their natural tan as she uncapped a bottle of vodka and whiskey. "Weeeelllll I think this'll be a good distraction~!" As she started soaking everything she could in the room while eyeing the now empty chest for a timed Molotov cocktail.

Okay so devil fruit eaten...ugh. Papers retrieved, scroll of super secret government techniques secured, and finally office set to burn in the next hour. Ava wore a small satisfied smirk as she thought over her success the night so far as she made her way towards the docks while sticking to the shadows as at the moment the base was still in peace. As she got herself into a group of bushes near the docks she smiled brightly at the sight of the small boat and quickly got it into the water and started to row away from the base and sent silen thanks to the dark night as she made sure to pace herself. "Okay so I should be able to get far enough out that they won't be able to find me and knowing how lazy Nezumi is he'll probably just state that I died in combat..." While mumbling all this to herself the red head wore a bright smile on her face and couldn't help herself from humming softly to herself as she watched the marine base disappear over the horizon. "Hopefully my luck holds out!"

"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!" The ear piercing scream of Ava let out as she glared at the giant whirlpool that was slowly sucking her ship down. "I DOZED OFF FOR 10 MINUTES HOW'S THAT FAIR?!" As slowly rising behind her the sun began to light up the ocean and upon seeing it earlier Ava had decided that was enough rowing and she deserved a quick nap.

As she glared down the whirlpool again she grumbled to herself while pacing worriedly. "Of course of fucking course the first thing I run into is a damn giant whirlpool after I ate a devil fruit!" With a lot more grumbling and another glare at the oncoming death Ava took a deep calming breath. Before letting loose another scream of frustration before she finally focused her mind on trying to think of a way out.

Okay so swimming is out of the question cause I ate the damn fruit...I can try experimenting with it and see if I can fly with it? I'll try it last...As she slowly took in her surroundings her eyes eventually landed on the large barrel of fresh drinking water as she stared at it before sighing. "It is air tight..."

With a particularly hard splash that nearly sent her tumbling Ava let out a long groan and made her way to the barrel as she drank as much as she could of it, ate as many rations as she could stomach, before dumping the barrel out and shimmied her way in while groaning at how little room was in the barrel before she barely squeezed the bag in on her lap while desperately ignoring the more furious shaking of the boat as it was being consumed by the whirlpool before the finally locked the lid down at the same time she heard her ship crackle and splinter into worthless pieces as the whirlpool violently shook the barrel and left her feeling sick again as she huddled up against her bag with only the darkness and the crashing of waves being her companions as she shakily whispered to herself. "I-I'll live...I'll get stronger...I'll become a hero!" And with her final cry of determination she forced herself to slowly doze off nervous of weather she'll make it out of this barrel alive.
