Nightmares

A Good Night Show fanfic

By Madeline Fretz

It was a calm night in the You and Me Tree, a cozy treehouse in the hills of Sprout. Nina and Star were both fast asleep.

Star then woke up screaming, waking up Nina in the process. "What's up, Star?" she asked.

"Nina, come over here!" Star told her. Nina then raced over to the hammock. "What's wrong?"

"I…I had this bad dream. You know how Qubo shut down earlier this year?"

"Yes. It was due to E.W. Scripps acquiring Ion Media."

"Well, I had this bad dream where I was on YouTube and watching a video of Qubo's shutdown." Star added.

"What happened in the video?" asked Nina.

"The Qubo characters got brutally shot and held ransom, and you saw their heads getting torn off and their skeleton faces. There was a scrolling message about how to save the channel and while each character died, the screen turned all red. And at the end, there was a taunting message about how ungrateful Qubo was."

"That doesn't sound good." Nina replied. "What are some things you like? We can think of that instead!"

"I like looking up at the stars and playing with you and our Sprout friends."

"I like that too! Who are your favorite Sprout friends?"

"Chica, Barney, Caillou, Elmo, Big Bird, Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Patty, Ricky, Curtis E. Owl, Fifi, Dirtgirl, Thomas, Noodle, Chloe, Franny, Justin, Squidgy, Apollo, Squacky, Cowbella, Sweetpea Sue, Sportacus, Stephanie, Bean, Olly, Beth, Mama Mirabelle, Iver, Groove, Tula, Hubba Hubba, Roma, the Motorettes, Luna, Jupiter, Clyde, Miles, Banjo, Brussel, Bean, Alfalfa, Sister Bear, Brother Bear, Comet, Halley, Sputnik, Radar, Jet, Sal, Noddy, Piggley Winks, Jay Jay, Roary, Angelina…"

"That's a lot of friends!" Nina pointed out.

"I know. I could go on all night if I wanted to!" exclaimed Star.

"Well, everyone needs their sleep." Nina replied.

"I know. I just like playing with all my friends." Star said. He then yawned and fell asleep.

"Well, I'm glad he turned out fine." Nina told herself, as she made her way over to the moon couch and fell asleep.

Star then had a dream that Qubo was alive and well, and it was Christmas Eve. The channel ran "Qubo's Snooze-a-Thon," a montage of characters sleeping to get excited kids sleepy.

"Nina, wake up!" Star yelled, waking her up and she ran over to him.

"What now, Star?"

"I had this dream where Qubo was still on the air and they showed clips of characters sleeping on Christmas Eve."

"Now at least that was a happy dream." Nina said. They both went back to sleep.
