On the way to free Libitina, Monika explained the situation to Sarah and Elyssa.
"This world is part of a simulation experiment. Somehow, when Libitina became self-aware, I did as well. It took countless cycles of killing my friends over and over before I figured out what was actually going on. I reached out to [Insert Your Name] as soon as I could. Now we're here to set things straight."
"Jeez," Elyssa huffed, "All this trouble for a bunch of sickos' entertainment."
"At least we have help on the outside, now." Sarah reminded.
"I guess. I'm just ready to get the fuck outta dodge."
Monika and Sarah agreed simultaneously.
Along the eastern wall, you discover a staircase leading to the facility's recesses. Monika intervenes once more.
"We have to be careful from here on out. In her awakened state, Libitina's completely unhinged. She's unpredictable. That's what makes her so dangerous."
"How do we snap her out of it?" Elyssa questioned.
"We hack her file."
"I get it," Sarah exclaims, "That's where [Insert Your Name] comes in, isn't it?"
"Yahtzee. Once we wear her down, she'll be too drained to resist."
"Let's do it!"
The party descends into Libitina's chamber.
"Hello, Monika." Libitina greets eerily.
"There's no point in talking. You already know why we're here."
"Yes."
"Well, shall we begin?"
"Of course."
The battle begins. Deciding to play it safe, you make heavy use of Sarah's healing abilities and the guard mechanic. Eventually, you manage to defeat Libitina despite her immense power. The cutscene automatically shuts her abilities down. Her hair reverts to a familiar purple color. She falls to the ground, drained and exhausted. The others gather around to comfort her.
"Are you okay?" Monika asks.
"I've been better."
"You look it. Come on."
Monika lifts Libitina onto her back.
"This area's clear. We can rest for a while."
"Thank you."
Early the next morning, the group review the information they've obtained so far.
"The man responsible for this madness is Doctor Reiner," Libitina explains, "His goal is to wipe out the last remnants of humanity from the earth."
"The question is, why?" Monika wonders.
"Simply put, he's psychotic. It all boils down to a meaningless bloodlust."
"Of course."
"It'll be hard tracking him down. This world is the size of an actual planet. Even with outside help, it won't be easy."
"That's fine. To tell you the truth, I'm in no hurry."
"What do you mean?"
"Life for us is barren and meaningless. Maybe this will offer a chance to find something more."
"I see. It's an interesting way to look at it."
"Besides that, I want to get to know [Insert Your Name] better. I tried to force them to love me before. I snapped under the pressure of my own knowledge, and it drove me into the abyss as I'm sure you're aware."
"More than I care to admit."
"What are we sitting around here for," Elyssa cut in, "Let's find Reiner and beat him into ground paste!"
The others nod. They exit the structure's depths together.
