Chapter 17 The Hunt for the Starry Knight

Ignis' POV

I was cleaning the apartment when the front door opened.

"I'm back", Prompto greeted as he walked in.

"Welcome back", I greeted. "How are things in the city?"

"Terrible", Prompto replied. "The empire's began searching for the Starry Knight everywhere, and they're arresting every person someone claims is the Starry Knight, even if there is no proof to back these claims."

"That's terrible", I stated. "You mustn't tell Noct about this."

"Why", Prompto asked.

"Because", I started. "If Noct finds out, he'll want to do something about it, and that could end up putting him right in the hands of the empire."

"And we wouldn't want that", Prompto added. "Don't worry. I won't tell Noct about what's going on in the city."

"Thank you, Prompto", I said.

"It's not a problem", Prompto stated. "Speaking of Noct, where is he anyway?"

"He went out to visit his father's grave", I replied. "However, that was quite some time ago, and he has yet to return."

"I hope he didn't get himself into trouble", Prompto said.

And as if he had cast a summoning spell, Noct walked through the door as soon as he said that.

"I'm back", he said. "Sorry I'm so late."

"Where were you, Noct", I asked in concern. "I hope you didn't run into trouble while you were out."

"Don't worry Specs", Noct reassured me. "I just got caught in the rain and had to take shelter."

"Well", I started. "That's a relief. But if you got caught in the rain, then you should go change into some dry clothes. After all, you just got over a fever. You wouldn't want to go catching another one."

"Definitely not", Noct agreed. "I'll go change."

With that, Noct walked into the bedroom…and I sighed sadly.

I didn't like to keep information from Noct, but for the sake of the future of Lucis, it's what had to be done.

The Next Day

Frode's POV

My wife and I watched as an innocent man was being accused of being the Starry Knight.

I wanted to help him, but was stopped by my wife.

"Please don't", she pleaded. "If you are arrested again…"

Knowing that my wife was right, I decided not to do anything…and watched as an innocent man was taken away.

My wife and I walked into an alleyway…and I saw a poster that made me angry.

I tore the poster off the wall before clenching it in my fists angrily.

"Offering money in return for information", I asked. "This is unacceptable."

After I said this, I looked up with a look of determination on my face.

"Don't you die, Starry Knight."

"I'm sure everything will be alright", my wife reassured. "I must go pick up the girls from school. I'll see you later dear."

With that, my wife left.

After she did…I saw something that took me by surprise.

I saw…the friar…with a Niflheim guard?
