Chapter 20 You Have to Live

Frode's POV

Noctis was about to throw himself into the city square without a disguise on. He was willing to expose himself to the empire…for the sake of his people, and that was exactly why he had to live.

Right before he was about to jump…I grabbed onto his arm and pulled him back.

He turned around, and was surprised to see me.

"Doctor Frode", he asked. "What are you doing here?"

"You are exactly the type of person I hoped you would grow up to be", I said. "As the Starry Knight, you fought against the empire and aided your people. And now, you were about to expose yourself to them."

"Well", Noctis started. "What else am I supposed to do?"

"Become king", I replied. "And overthrow the empire once and for all. But you can't do that if you die here and now."

"But…", Noctis started. "I can't just let these people, my people, die!"

"Don't worry", I reassured. "You won't have to."

"What do you mean", Noctis asked in confusion.

I didn't answer. Instead, I turned around.

"Noctis", I started. "I have a favour to ask."

"A favour", Noctis asked in confusion.

"See to it that my wife and daughters get out of this city safety."

"What do you mean", Noctis asked. "What are you going to do?"

For the last time…I didn't answer.

"Farewell", I said. "King Noctis Lucis Caelum."

With that, I ran off.

"Doctor Frode", I heard Noctis yell out.

I ignored him and continued run…donning an outfit similar to that of the Starry Knight's as I did so.

"How could you help the empire?! They are the ones who took our home from us!"

"What else was I supposed to do?"

Don't let the empire win. That's what you could've done, friar.

With that…I jumped onto the cage holding the Starry Knight suspects.

If a Starry Knight is what the empire wanted…then a Starry Knight is what they were going to get.

"It's the Starry Knight", I heard somebody say in relief.

"The real Starry Knight is here", I lied. "Let all these innocent men go at once!"

"Very well then, Starry Knight", the commander of the guards said. "Release the prisoners at once!"

With that…all the men that had been imprisoned were set free, and they all ran up to their very relieved families.

Good. Everybody is safe. Now…there is only one last thing to do.

Lunafreya's POV

I had spent the whole day in my room, working on my embroidery.

By the time night fell…I had finally finished it.

"It's finally finished", I said excitedly as I held the handkerchief in the air.

It was a simple white handkerchief, but on one of its bottom corners, I had embroidered a Sylleblossom and a capital 'N' into it.

I smiled at my handiwork, but as I was doing so…Gentiana walked in the room.

"Something has happened."
