A Wedding in Kalos
Serena stood in front of a full length mirror, nervously staring at her reflection. She scrutinized every aspect of her physical appearance. Her dress, her make-up, her hair. It was all perfect, or at least as perfect as it all could be. But this didn't make her any less nervous.
Serena shut her eyes and shook her head, and she said softly to herself, "Come on, Serena. You're being ridiculous. Don't be nervous. You don't even have any reason to be nervous, because-."
Knock-knock-knock!
Serena jumped at the knocking, then she turned towards the door and called out, "Come in!"
The door opened, and Bonnie ran in with a big smile, while dressed in a white dress with pink trim. On her right arm was a basket full of pink and white flowers.
"It's almost time! It's almost time!" Bonnie said cheerfully, "I'm so excited!"
Dedenne popped out of the flowers and cheered as well.
Serena smiled back and said, "I know. Me too, Bonnie. You look like the perfect flower girl."
Bonnie chuckled and blushed, "Thanks, Serena! You look really pretty in your dress too!" The little girl laughed again and twirled around, "I'm just so happy for you and for. . . for everyone!"
Squishy the Zygarde core stuck his head out of flowers and nodded as well, while the Dedenne next to him continued to cheer.
All of Serena's worries and nerves vanished at the sight of Bonnie's joy, and the general happiness of her two Pokemon friends. She then replied, "Thank you, Bonnie. This really is a big day. . .a big change. . .but a good one."
"Mm-hm!" Bonnie said, "And it's almost that time!"
"Right. . ." Serena said in a hushed tone of voice, then she nodded determinedly and said, "Then let's do this!"
The venue was set up outside under the clear blue sky. It just felt right to have it take place outside, rather than indoors. If anything, having it indoors would feel unnatural all things considered. The rest of the guests, both human and Pokemon, were all already seated. Serena's mother, Clemont and his father, Luxray, Helioisk, Professor Sycamore, Korrina and Lucario, the entirety of Ash's Kalos Team including Goodra and Greninja, Alain, Mairin and Chespie, Tierno, Shauna, Trevor, Nini, . . . . Miette. . .
As Serena walked down the aisle, passing between the rows of chairs, a strong, slightly immature desire rose up within her. This desire grew stronger and stronger as she got closer and closer to where Miette was seated. To her credit, Serena did her best to quash this inclination, but in the end, she couldn't help it. She just had to say something to her rival.
And so, just she was passing by the blue-hair Pokemon Performer, she slightly leaned over in her direction and whispered out of the corner of her mouth, "I win. . ."
Serena's smile grew all the more confident and victorious as Miette pouted deeply, her brow furrowing her face nearly in half.
Serena reached her spot with no further incident, and she took a moment to look over at Ash. The Kanto boy, well known for his Pokeball themed caps and casual activewear, was now dressed in his finest. A grey and white suit with brown trim, along with a red bowtie. It was slightly reminiscent of the outfit he wore during the award ceremony that came after the Team Flare crisis had been resolved.
Serena smiled warmly at him. He looked as bold and as handsome as he always had. Even better was the way Pikachu still sat perched up on his shoulder, even now.
"That's Ash to a T," Serena thought to herself in a deep fondness, "It's like. . .Pokemon are a part of him. They always will be. . . and I can't help but admire that about him."
Serena shut her eyes and took a deep breath.
"Well. . .this is it," she thought.
She opened her eyes and looked over at Clembot, who sat an odd looking piano/organ device Clemont had built. Somehow, she had complete faith in this invention, in spite of Clemont's many explosive failures, and because of Clemont's many successful inventions. Not only that, there was also exactly who Clemont had built it for.
And so, the robot began to play that iconic song that everyone knows. The song that marks and important moment in the lives of two souls, who have decided that they truly wished to become one.
Braixen was the perfect mixture of poise and utter joy as she walked forward, dressed in the finest pink and white bows. The Mon of Honor's eyes seemed to sparkle from the second hand joy she was feeling. After Braixen, Bonnie gracefully stepped down the aisle, looking the proudest she had ever been as she sweetly tossed out the pink and white flowers, with the aid of Squishy and Dedenne of course. Then, after the flower girl, came the ring bearer. Pancham had a solemn and serious expression on his face as he held the pillow in his paws, the two pieces of jewelry sparkling in the Sun.
Serena nearly felt like laughing as the infectious joy and happiness reached her. Thankfully, she maintained her composure as the procession moved on.
She sat straight up in her chair as the bride walked down the aisle in perfect time with the music.
Sylveon had on a gold trimmed dress of white, with the classic veil on her head. Her bright blue eyes and even brighter smile shone right through as she stepped closer and closer to the altar, and to her true love.
Bunnelby stood in a white vest, a black top hat, and a white bowtie. He stared at the approaching Fairy Eeveelution in awe and adoration, his eyes wide as he took in every inch of her beauty. Meanwhile, Clemont's Chespin, who was Bunnelby's Best Mon, just sighed and smiled, amazed how lucky his friend was.
As Sylveon walked by, Miette huffed and thought to herself, "I can't believe one of Serena's Pokemon found love before any of my Pokemon. . .oh well. . . All is fair and whatnot."
Bunnelby's buck toothed smile got all the bigger as his beloved Sylveon to her place next to him. As the pair looked into each other's eyes, Clembot stopped playing and the one officiating the wedding cleared her throat.
It was none other than the Princess of the Diamond Domain herself.
"Ladies. . . Gentlemen. . .Humans. . .Pokemon. . ." Diancie said regally and with a smile, "We are gathered here today for the most joyous of occasions: that being the union of two into one through the power of true love. It is written. . . 'that a male shall be joined to his lady, and they shall become one flesh'. Due to the love shared between the two souls being united on this day, it is crystal clear that they would not have it any other way. This union will bring a sense of support, of peace, of safety, of belonging, of closeness, and of a confidence in the fact that no matter what, there will always be one soul who shall forever stand by their side as a testament to their inherent value and importance in this wide world."
Diancie turned to Sylveon and said, "Sylveon. With Lord Arceus as your witness, do you take this male Bunnelby to be your wedded mate, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"
"Syl ve," Sylveon cooed as she nodded her head, her eyes focused on Bunnelby as she held a look of joy on her face.
Diancie smiled, and she then turned to Bunnelby and said, "Bunnelby. With Lord Arceus as your witness, do you take this female Sylveon to be your wedded mate, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"
"Bun by!" Bunnelby nearly cried out joyfully, nodding his head up and down rather energetically.
Diancie held back a giggle, one that the audience simply could not. Then she she raised her arms and said, "If there be any who object to this union, speak up now or forever hold your peace!"
"What are you waiting for, Meowth! Push the button and fire the net!"
". . .I can't do it, Jess!"
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU CAN'T!?"
"I've always had rotten luck in love. No girl ever loved Meowth. How can I ruin someone else's love like dat?"
"URRRRRGH! Fine! James, you do it!"
"Wait, are we really ruining someone's happy wedding?"
"What do you care!?"
"Well, after all that time I've lived in fear of being forced to marry Jessiebelle, and now I'm seeing what it looks like when both parties want to be married-."
"FINE! I don't care anymore. We can denounce the evils of truth and love another time. Let's just get out of here."
Pancham held the pillow carrying custom made paw rings up to the couple. Bunnelby somehow managed to keep his eyes on Sylveon as he grabbed her paw ring and held it out to her. Sylveon raised her right forepaw and allowed Bunnelby to slip the golden band studded with pink diamonds onto her paw. With her eyes sparkling with delight, Sylveon used her ribbons to pick up Bunnelby's paw ring, which was studded with smoky quartz, and slipped it on his left paw.
Diancie nodded, and she directed her vision skyward and said, "By the power vested in me by both Lord Arceus and Lord Xerneas, I now pronounce you true mates for life."
Unable to wait another second, Sylveon's ribbons shot on and wrapped around Bunnelby, pulling him in for a passionate kiss. Bunnelby had been anticipating this moment for weeks, so even has his right foot thumped wildly, he still managed to give the Fairy-type what she wanted and kissed back with equally intensity.
The crowd gathered there all applauded and cheered. Bonnie smirked and rolled her eyes as Clemont burst into tears in a display that trumped the day he and Bunnelby had first met. The Pokemon all cheered as well, congratulating their friend on not just finding a suitable mate, but finding one that he loved so dearly that it had to be announced in a big way.
The planning that went into this event was no simple feat. The love Sylveon and Bunnelby had for each other was quite clear, with the way both would become wistful and lonesome for each other at times, how Bunnelby would be glued to the TV whenever Serena performed in a Showcase or Contest, and the desperate joy that would overtake the two of them whenever Serena came to visit Clemont and Bonnie.
The decision to have Bunnelby become Serena's Pokemon wasn't easy either, but in the end, Clemont couldn't live with himself if he kept the two apart and prevented Bunnelby's happiness. The fact was that Bunnelby being Sylveon's moral support, not to mention a source of strategic inspiration given his Gym Battle experience, was the best thing not only for Sylveon, but for Serena and her entire team as a whole.
And so, whether Serena would ever become Kalos Queen or not, one thing was for sure.
The Fairy princess had finally married her prince.
The End
Sorry to all you Serena and Ash shippers for trolling you, but I'm a Negaishipper and I always will be. Ash and Iris for life! But seriously, this was a lot of fun to write. Sylveon and Bunnelby is such an adorable pairing that more or less seems cannon. At least it's not as onesided as Pikachu and Buneary's relationship!
By the way, this story was kinda inspired by that Pikachu Wedding in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. At least it proves that Pokemon weddings are cannon.
I hope everyone who reads this had a very happy St. Valentine's Day!
