Chapter Two
Two figures are walking down a quiet road in Crowley. As the scene narrows out we see that these two are Marcus Wilson and D'Angelo Burrow, two friends from the area. They are walking towards the latter's home, where Professor Burrow is anticipating their arrival.
"Bur, so you're certain that your pops has a Pokemon for both of us?" A voice, the one belonging to Marcus, asked. "And it's not gonna be something like a Spearow or some bird?"
As if on cue, a young flock of Pidgeys fly by the boys, cueing and singing their songs. The day is very sunny, a nice day to be outside.
"Believe me Mar," Dee retorted, laughing. "He promised us years ago that we'd have our choice of some nice ones… last night all three Pokeballs came in from overseas, we'll catch up to Dalen and the rest of the guys soon,"
Dalen, the boy mentioned, had already been gone on his Pokemon journey for close to a month already. Graduating in their class, he had been given a Cyndaquil and set out for his adventure the day after their classes had finished thanks to his family. Before setting out he had told Marcus and D'Angelo to meet him in Dallas when they got their own Pokemon.
Jacquii adjusted the straps of her PINK backpack as she closed in on the laboratory that her grandmother had given her directions to before leaving her at the bus station in Austin. Crowley was definitely much smaller than Austin, that was for sure… the town didn't even have its own Battle Gym like the Ghost-type gym that her grandmother had run for years in the past. But still, waiting in Austin, she would be thirty by the time she was chosen to be given a Starter Pokemon so that was why she had made her way here… what Pokemon she would choose and what journeys awaited her afterwards, she didn't know but boy was the sense of adventure making her blood boil in excitement. It was finally time for her to show that the MacDonald's women were all capable of becoming very accomplished Pokemon Trainers.
Coming to the door of the building, the young woman was met by the tall figure of an older lighter complexion male.
"Are you the Professor?" She asked the man meeting her, a hand out to shake in the event of not looking too disrespectful as her grandmother had told her. Jacquii swallowed a lump of spit in her throat as the man's smug look stretched into a genuine smile.
"W-Why yes I am," The man started, his voice as radiant as his smile. Walking into his laboratory, Professor Burrow motioned for Jacquii to follow him, which she did. "Well, you don't look like my son Dee or that friend of his so I'm guessing that you're the third of my new Pokemon Trainers. Your grandmother and I talked on the phone a few hours ago… Jacquii, right?"
Nodding, Jacquii continued to follow the professor through his laboratory, looking at the tons of research and Pokemon roaming the premises. Her grandmother hadn't told her about more Trainers showing up but it couldn't be helped… she wasn't the only teenager in the world… not even a small town like this one. Where were they though? And how had she beaten them after a train and a bus ride into the city? And would they be kind enough… or incompetent enough to give a lady some pointers on this area?
The two of them sat and talked for a few minutes, the professor looking for some spare Pokeballs he had mentioned and she just watching in awe at the sheer number of Pokemon that seemed to be popping up in the fields around her. In Austin, people usually kept their Pokemon in the Pokeballs so this was far more than she was used to seeing at one time… such beautiful creatures they were though.
"Now we were going to wait for them two twats but as always, my son has no sense of timing…" The professor began, coming to meet Jacquii with a handful of three enlarged Pokeballs. With three separate presses, three different creatures sprung to life from their capturements. The first was Treecko, the Wood Gecko grass-type Pokemon. The second was Torchic, the Chick water-type Pokemon. The final of the three were Mudkip, the Mud Fish water-type Pokemon.
"These are the three choices of Pokemon that most trainers in Texas are given the choice of when it is time for their Pokemon adventures to begin." He continued, pausing to give Jacquii a time to overlook each pokemon. "Now, while they look harmless, each one of these creatures has the destructive ability of high-class military weapons and have feelings and emotions just like us… by choosing your first partner, not only are you picking your Starter Pokemon but also the pet that you are choosing to take care of with as good intentions are you can."
"And I have the first choice?" Jacquii asked.
"Since our other guests want to take their time, I'm sure they wouldn't mind"
"Man, they all look good professor, I don't know," Jacquii said, running through the choices in her head. Before long though it was decided, she had always had a thing for Water-type Pokemon anyways. "I'll go with Mudkip!" She added, grabbing the Pokeball containing the Mud Fish Pokemon. Bringing out the creature, Jacquii immediately pet it and as if it had already known, Mudkip let off a screech of excitement at its new trainer and companion.
"Hey what gives Mr. Burrow," The voice of Marcus laughed as he and Dee entered the laboratory just to see Mudkip and its trainer embracing each other. Playfulness mixed with a little jealousy, Marcus eyed Jacquii up and down… which obviously the girl noticed. "You said I'd have first pick over Burr, I didn't know that meant I was only picking second."
Without even batting an eye, Marcus grabbed a Pokeball of his own. Bringing out the Wood Gecko Pokemon, the smile never left the young man's face as he nodded in approval with himself, saying, "A Sceptile wouldn't be too bad… Marley would hate it if I followed behind her and got a Fire-type like Torchic,"
And that meant that D'Angelo ended up with the last of the bunch, a Torchic… not that it was a loss in his eyes.
Before long, after being equipped with medicine, pokeballs and every essential thing that they would need, surprisingly to the three of them, the professor sent all three of the newly appointed trainers to Dallas, a nearby city where they would receive their Trainer IDs and be shown what it was that young trainers did after receiving their Pokemon… and with that, the three's journey would finally come to a start and a lifelong companionship's first chapter comes to a start.
