Hi! I just wanted to say I really enjoy writing this story. The next few chapters are going to give Jax and Lyla a glimpse of the life they could have but when is life ever perfect for long.

"Luann we need to talk." Jax said walking towards her. "About what?" She asked. "Lyla starts her internship at St. Thomas this week, she won't be able to film for 8 weeks." Jax says bluntly. "8 weeks? You're crazy, that can't happen." Luann replies. "Well that's too bad because it is, if you even try to fuck with her internship I will come at you personally." Jax tells her. "What are you doing with her?" Luann asks him. "Nothin' I just care about her." He replied.
"I remember how you were with Tara in high school, you're acting the same way right now." She says. "I care about her Luann she's finally getting her dream and I will make sure nothing happens to her or her dream. She deserves this, you can tell life wasn't good to her." He tells Luann. "I'll have to interview a few new girls, she's a big money maker I don't think anyone could replace her." She replies. "Nobody can." Jax says before walking out of Cara Cara.
Lyla was excited to start her internship, she was looking forward to this day from the day she started classes. She wanted to be hands on and help people that needed it. When Lyla was younger her mom went through a lot of shitty boyfriends. The worst one was Vince, he beat her mom until she was blue and bloody all over. She thought her mom died that day when she was driving her to the hospital.
13 years old and driving a broken down car running on hardly any gas. That was a day Lyla would never forget, she was afraid to lose her mom. As shitty as she was to her, her mother Lydia was the one who gave her life. She never forgave her for putting her through so many shitty situations but she was thankful it gave her the strength to break the cycle and get out of that life.
She understood why her mother had a new boyfriend every few months, they brought comfort to her. Her mother's boyfriends were a greater comfort to her than she ever could be, it was a distinct observation. Deep down all she wanted was her mother to love and support her but Lydia wasn't that person.
Monday morning came bright and early, Lyla woke up at 7 for her 8 o'clock shift. She was ready by 7:45 and headed out. On the way there she thought about Luann in a way she felt bad for balling on her but she knew being a nurse is the better choice for her.
The beginning of her shift was amazing, she knew this was what she wanted to do. She tended to people in the emergency room many coming in for cuts and bruises. On her lunch break a familiar faced swung by. "Hey darlin' how was your morning?" Jax said sitting down at the table she was sitting at in the cafeteria. "It was really good, I loved every minute of it. It's exactly what I wished for." She replied before cutting herself off. "Sorry, when I'm happy I tend to ramble a lot."
"It's fine babe." He smiled at her. Lyla nodded with the biggest smile. "This job is what I always wanted in life, it's stable and comes with a good pay. I'll be able to get out of my shitty apartment sooner than I thought I could." She tells him. "You don't like living in your apartment?" He asks. "Its good enough for now, my landlord Hale gives me the creeps." She admits. Jax mentally notes how she feels about Hale.
"Want me to set him straight?" Jax asks her. "I can deal with it for another month or so, thanks for caring though." Lyla replies with a soft smile. "Well I have a spare room at my house, I don't really stay there often I usually crash at the clubhouse. You're welcome to stay there if you'd like." Jax offers. "That sounds perfect, thank you." Lyla says looking at him longingly. "Any time babe." He replies with a smile.
"I should get going I came here to check on you and Abel." Jax says standing up. "Abel?" Lyla asks. "My son Abel he's in the NICU, do you want to join me?" Jax asked her. Lyla checked the time then nodded following him to the NICU. Jax walked into the room and saw Gemma reading to him. "Ma, I thought you were working today?" He asked.
"Lunch break." She said quickly not noticing Lyla. Lyla felt awkward but knew it would be rude if she didn't introduce herself. "Hi, I'm Lyla." She says extending her arm. Gemma looked up at her and shakes her hand. "Gemma." Lyla smiled and pulled her hand away giving her attention to Abel. Jax was standing behind her ignoring the looks Gemma was giving to them.
"He's beautiful." Lyla says softly. Jax replies with a smile. "It's because he's my kid." Lyla rolls her eyes playfully before checking the time. "I have to go my lunch break is almost over, it was nice meeting you Gemma." She kissed Jax on the cheek saying her goodbye then leaves. "Lyla huh, sounds familiar." Gemma says looking at Jax. "Yeah she used to work for Luann." He tells her. "You're bringing a porn slut around my grandbaby." She replies offended. "Lyla isn't like that, she worked in porn to pay for her schooling. She's doing her internship to become a nurse." He tells her. "Hm." Gemma says standing up. "I'll see you later baby." She kisses him on the cheek then leaves.
Lyla has now met the most important woman in Jax's life. Will Gemma accept her? Will she always view her as one of Luann's girls? Stick around to find out :)
Have a good day or night - Shea
