A/N: Hey all. So this story is mostly done. I am in the editing phase with the end of the story. Hopefully it will be up soon. Enjoy.
Chapter 2
About a week later, among the many wedding preparations going on, it was time for the newly engaged couple to pick out their wedding dresses. Beca was accompanied by her mother, Anita along with Sarah, while Chloe tried on her dress with Aubrey.
Beca is in the dressing room, trying on dress number three, while Sarah is sitting with Anita. Beca comes out to look at herself in the mirror, admiring this choice. It was a sleeveless dress this time, with a v-neck line, and white beading around the edging. Beca liked how simple it was, but still pretty. Anita and Sarah agreed that this was a very nice dress for her.
"You think this dress might be the winner?" Anita asked Beca.
"Yeah, I think so."
"It suits you, Beca. Chloe will love it," Sarah told her.
Beca smiled while staring in the mirror, twirling in her dress to get a feel for it. All of this was really happening, and this is just the first step. While Beca had a big knot in her stomach, she was still able to stand there in the mirror, smiling at what she saw. She was never the kind of girl who had her wedding all planned out from the time she was twelve, so she never expected to be having fun right now. Beca couldn't wait to see what Chloe would be wearing, and to share this day with their family and closest friends. Sarah stood behind Beca with her hands on her shoulders, to reassure her nervous friends.
"You're gonna do great."
"I hope so. There's so much left to do, and I hope it all goes well," Beca said.
"We're all here to help you, Beca. Listen, don't worry about the little stuff. What's important is that you and Chloe love each other, and that's what will really make your day special," Sarah said.
"I'll just be happy when we get to the reception. Although I am looking forward to the cake tasting coming up."
"You're not gonna get fondant on that cake, are you?" Sarah asked.
"Of course not, I love my family," Beca said, and they both laughed.
Meanwhile after Chloe got the wedding dress she was happy with, she had told Aubrey a few days ago that she wanted to get a tattoo. They paid for the dress, and Aubrey took her to the tattoo parlor down the street from the dress shop. They walked in and Chloe showed Aubrey the design she wanted on her wrist. It was music notes with hearts on the bottom, and the inscription "Beca and Chloe," Music is what brought them together, and Chloe wanted a symbol of what brought the love of her life to her.
"This is really sweet. She'll love it," Aubrey said.
Soon the tattoo artist was ready for her, and Chloe sat in his chair. The process took about a half hour, and was so far looking good. She was remembering what Beca once told her about how the tattoos she has really mean something to her. This would be a permanent part of her skin, and she didn't want to just do it on a whim or because it was popular. This was certainly something that meant something to Chloe, and someone she is excited to share with Beca. After the tattoo was done, Chloe was able to admire it before being bandaged up, and the ladies left to take their dresses home. Beca was curious about Chloe's secret errand, but she promised that it would be a great surprise.
So far the first part of wedding planning has been successful, and they hoped the rest of it would be this easy. Of course most of that was probably wishful thinking, but at least Beca and Chloe had all the help they could get.
Some time has passed since the proposal, and there is still more wedding planning ahead of them. There is a lot to decide on, and both brides-to-be are happy to have the support of their family and friends. At this moment, they are taking a break from wedding planning, and are out at a bar to relax, and have a drink.
"What better way to celebrate this occasion, then a night out like this?" Chloe asked.
"Just promise me it won't turn into one of your emotional drunken toasts," Beca jokes.
"Okay, I promise," Chloe laughed, as the couple clinked their wine glasses.
"I have to say, this time at the bar together is way more fun than when we came here after the Brooklyn Aquarium," Chloe said.
"Yeah, at least now we're celebrating something," Beca said, as she smiled looking at the wonderful woman beside her.
Beca began thinking about when the two first met, and how at first she was too shy to even talk to Chloe. The redhead had a bubbly personality that made everyone else around her happy, but more than that, she was also strong and confident in who she is. Beca's heart swelled, thinking about how lucky she felt to have Chloe in her life, and how she couldn't wait for them to be married, and build a future together. Beca had often worried about what would come next in her life, but now she didn't have to worry alone.
"You're awfully quiet. What are you thinking about?" Chloe asked, while Beca brushed Chloe's hair behind her ear.
"How glad I am that you asked me to marry you."
"Yeah, I think it's the best decision I've ever made," Chloe said, leaning in for a kiss.
As Beca and Chloe were at home getting ready for the day, they've been making progress with the wedding plans. The reception hall is reserved for them, and they have all their wedding colors and flowers picked out. While there was still plenty to do, Beca and Chloe felt good about where things were. Soon the alarm on Beca's phone went off,
"Hey Chloe, I gotta get going. My father's flight is arriving, and I have to pick him up at the airport," Beca said.
"Okay, I'll see you later," Chloe said, as Beca kissed her before heading out the door.
While at JFK, Beca waited at the baggage claim for her father, Dave to arrive. He approached the carousel, waving to Beca before collecting his luggage.
"Hey you."
"Hi Dad. How was your flight?" Beca responded with a hug.
"Good, it's good to see you. Are you excited for your big day?"
"Yeah, I am. I'm so glad we were able to have a summer wedding before you start work."
"Oh Honey, I would have found a way to come anyway," Dave said.
"Yeah, but I'm glad it worked out this way."
"Where is Chloe?" Dave asked.
"Oh, she's grocery shopping for when her parents get here later tonight. I thought you and I could grab lunch before heading home," Beca said.
"Sounds like a plan," Dave said, as the two left the airport.
The father and daughter leave the airport and head to a diner for lunch. They each order a burger and fries, while they catch up on what has been going on these past few months. In recent years, it has been easier for Beca to talk to her father. After her parents divorce, Beca seemed to make every effort to avoid deep conversations with her dad, so that she wasn't reminded of the problems their family was dealing with at the time. Since learning to accept that her parents are much happier apart, and since growing up and having her own life experiences, Beca has done more opening up to her father which has improved their relationship. Dave talked to Beca about the goings on at home.
"Sheila and the kids will be here tomorrow. She is finishing up a project, and then I'll be able to pick them up in time for dinner."
"How is everyone?" Beca asked.
"Macy is five now. She's excited to start kindergarten next year. Daniel is however less excited about starting highschool."
"I remember what that was like," Beca said.
"Yeah, Sheila and I keep telling him it'll be okay, and we're here to help him, but he doesn't want to hear it. Maybe you can reassure him; he might listen more to you," Dave said.
"I can try."
They talked more about the wedding and how excited everyone was. Macy wanted to show everyone she is prepared to be a flower girl, practicing her flower tossing around the house. Her parents were less excited to keep cleaning up the little girl's mess, but it made them happy to see her so excited. Also Dave couldn't stop smiling as the day his daughter was to be married fast approaches. It was nice to see Beca in a good place, with the life she wanted. Admittedly it was nice for Beca to have so much family involvement for her special day. She is about to share her life with Chloe, and thinking about the future with holidays and family dinners excited Beca more than she thought possible.
