Katara: Water, Soldier, Mechanist, God, Earth, Fire, Spy, Archer, Monster, Air

(One by one, eight figures do something to show off their skills: the Waterbender weaves a stream of water from the ground, around him and then thrusts it towards the side, the soldier blocks an attack with his shield before throwing it, the mechanist has armor envelope him and then uses the repulsor on his hand to blast something on the side, the god holds a powerful hammer high to summon a bolt of lightning, the Earthbender kicks the ground bringing up a large rock before he kicks it away, the Firebender twists around as she summons fire from her foot before doing a high kick to the ground and makes the flames spread, the spy drops down from above and displays a few moves, the archer rolls across the ground and fires a few arrows, and finally the monster comes down from a jump and smashes his huge fists on the ground, the Airbender drops down and then with a circle of his arms he creates a blast of wind.)

Katara: Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.

(Docked on a shore, five Fire Nation ships with the Hydra insignia released their soldiers. With a jump forward and a palm thrust, the firebenders released a wave of fire as the Hydra soldiers used their advanced technology.)

Katara: Only the Avatar, master of all four elements could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished.

(The Avatar, a man with a crown on his head and dressed in robes stands on a pillar of stone as he bent the four elements of water, earth, fire and air to show his skill in the arts of bending. After releasing a powerful disk of wind, he disappears from existence.)

Katara: A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar: an Airbender named Aang and met the team called the Avengers.

(The water tribe siblings find a young Airbender frozen in block of ice. After freeing him, they are then joined by heroes called Captain America, Ironman, Thor, Hulk, Clint, and Natasha.)

Katara: And although with the teams help and his airbending skills are great, hehas a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone.

(At an Air Nomad path, Aang creates an air scooter and starts to have fun with it. But when he expands his circle a little bit, he runs right into a statue. He rolls over onto his back as all six of the Avengers then poke their heads from behind the statue to check on him.)

Katara: But I believe the Avengers and Aang can save the world.

(Aang, Steve, Katara, Tony, Thor, Bruce, Sokka, Clint and Natasha stand side by side, looking down at the world on a mountain's peak for a moment as the reader's view is turned upwards to the sun.)

Avatar Roku: Previously, on Avenging Avatar…

The six friends arrived on Kyoshi Island. The village chief, who thought they were spies, said, "Kyoshi has stayed out of the war so far."

"This island is named after Kyoshi?" Aang asked. Then he said, "I know her."

"Hah!" The village leader sarcastically laughed before questioning, "How could you possibly know her. Avatar Kyoshi was born four hundred years ago."

Suki kissed Sokka on the cheek and it made him blush.

"The visions that you've seen in the swamp, they're people that we've lost, people we loved. Folks that we think are gone." The man said. But then he said, "But they can also be visions of what may come."

Blue Spirit looked down at the man before stepping back into the shadows. Unaware to both of them, another figure crouched in the shadows, watching the whole thing.

Book Two: Earth

Chapter Five: Avenging Avatar Day

It was a warm spring morning as the sun had yet to rise over the horizon. The group had left the Swamp two days ago and had enjoyed a night of peaceful of rest. While Aang was resting on Appa's foreleg, Katara, Sokka, Thor, Natasha, Steve and Bruce were lying comfortably on tree stumps. The only one who was awake at the moment was Momo, as the lemur crawled over to the sleeping Sokka. The Water Tribesman had his head hanging from the side of the swamp and was snoring away. Momo looked into the teen's mouth and saw that a spider had made a web in Sokka's mouth during the night and the teen hadn't noticed.

Momo watched as a fly flew into the web and the spider moved towards it. But Momo used the opportunity to make a grab for the spider, but his hand ended up going into Sokka's mouth. Sokka gasped from the furry hand in his mouth and sat up, throwing the lemur onto his stomach. The teen then spat the web and hair on his tongue before questioning the lemur, "What do you think you are doing in my mouth?!"

But Momo only chittered as he started eating the spider. Sokka then said, "Momo, you need to be just a little more sensitive to my boundaries."

"You're talking to a lemur who probably scratches his butt daily." Natasha said from her log without opening her eyes. Sokka became a grossed out by the high possibility. But Momo started chittering in alarm when he sensed something coming. It caused everyone to start waking up, and even more so when the sound of rumbling came from all around. They all gasped when they four Komodo rhinos emerge from the forest. Each rider of the Komodo rhinos was different in armor and had different weapons. A fifth Komodo rhino and its rider appeared on a large rock behind the group. He glared down at the group and shouted, "You're all completely surrounded! I suggest you just give up while you can!"

"Not gonna happen, Mohawk feathers." Natasha countered as the group all stood at the ready. The leader then nodded to his group to round them up. The archer of the group raised his bow and prepared a flaming arrow. He let loose a few arrows at Sokka who was inching like a worm. But he quickly crawled out when the arrows hit his bag and shouted, "Come on. Come on, come on!"

"Should I-?" Bruce started to ask. Steve blocked a few burning arrows while Thor knocked back the man with a large ball and chain's weapon back. The super soldier looked to his friend and said, "Not unless the situation really calls for it."

Natasha made a run for the leader, but a bald but bearded man rode up with a curved spear raised and tried to impale her. Natasha comically stopped from being skewered while the Komodo rhino rider rode on past. But the Komodo rhino's tail knocked the spy off her feet. The man turned his mount around and held his staff up high. Natasha was able to roll out of the way of the first strike, but she cried out in pain when one of its claws snagged her leg.

Bruce happened to see that Nat was in trouble, and his anger overtook him. With a growl, his skin turned green and he started to grow in size. Both sides, friend and foe alike, watched as Bruce disappeared and the Hulk now took his place. The green fighting machine looked to the man with spear and growled in anger as he had tried to hurt his friend. Raising his hands in the air he let out, "Hulk…" Then bringing them down he shouted, "SMASH!"

The ground cracked from underneath his fists and spread to the man with the spear. Everyone cried out as the ground shook and split. Steve then shouted to them all, "Go! Now!"

"Come on!" Sokka shouted as the kids all started to get on Appa. But Katara stopped a moment as she forgot something. She turned around and said, "My scrolls!"

She quickly made a run for them. Aang noticed that he nearly left something behind as well while Thor used his great strength to push one of the Komodo rhinos back, "My staff!"

Aang hopped off of Appa's head and made a run for it. Steve ran before helping Nat onto her feet and helped her to the bison. The Hulk kept himself between the man with the curved spear and the man with the ball and chain. He caught the ball and chain while knocking the man with the curved spear back. Katara was a few steps away from recollecting her scrolls when the leader's Komodo rhino leapt from the rock and he shot a few fire balls at her. Katara quickly bended a stream of water to act as her shield and the fire attacks created steam. Then bringing the water back to her, Katara then sent it again at the ground right as the Komodo rhino landed and formed ice underneath it. The man cried out as his mount slipped at the frozen surface. Katara then quickly grabbed her scrolls before running back.

Steve helped Natasha up onto Appa and looked back just when the archer of the enemy group readied another arrow. But the super soldier was quick to toss his shield at the man. The shield knocked the man off his mount before retuning back to Steve's hand. Placing the shield onto his back, Steve then climbed up after Nat.

Thor yanked the man with the ball and chain weapon from his mount before tossing him into the tree. Since the tree was already dead, a little force caused it to fall over, but it also got in Aang's way as he stopped just before it crashed down. Aang sent an annoyed glance to the Asgardian who sheepishly shrugged and said, "Sorry about that."

Aang then jumped over the knocked over tree and landed on the other side. But as the Airbender landed on the other side, the masked man unclipped a small explosive from his belt before lighting the fuse. He threw it over at Aang as he had just grabbed some of their things. The explosive landed by his feet and Aang glared down at it before spinning his staff while turning himself. Then with a flick of his staff, Aang sent the small explosive away. It landed next to a tree as Aang jumped back over the fallen tree. It exploded when Aang landed on Appa's head and commanded, "Yip, yip!"

"Thor! Bruce! Let's go!" Steve yelled their friends as they continued to fight. Thor had just bashed the man with the curved spear and the archer's heads together while Hulk had picked up a Komodo rhino. Thor dropped his two while Hulk tossed the animal away into another. Thor was able to grab on to Steve's outstretched hand just when Appa started to take off. Hulk was able to follow them as they flew off by jumping over vast distances.

The five riders watched as the group were able to get away. The leader launched a fireball at them and those in the saddle ducked under it. But when they all lifted their heads again, Sokka noticed that he had left something behind and crawled to the back of the saddle, "Wait, my boomerang!"

"There's no time!" Katara said as they flew fast from the campsite. Thor quickly noticed and said, "Whoops, almost forgot."

Then holding out his hand, Thor summoned Mjolnir from its spot on the ground. The hammer lifted off the ground before shooting towards Thor's open hand. The Asgardian was able to catch it. Sokka looked between all of them and questioned, "Oh, I see, so there's time to go and get your scrolls, your staff and your magic hammer but no time for my boomerang?"

"That's correct." Katara said to her brother's comical looking face. The teen hung his head and said, "Oh."

The group continued to fly while the Hulk jumped after them. The five riders just watched with scowls from their bounty getting away from them.

\_|_/

The sun had well risen into the day when the group had landed. The Hulk had landed and rejoined them soon after and was able to turn back into Bruce. Katara used her waterbending to heal Natasha's injury. They saw a store just outside the tree line and went to go get a few more supplies before continuing on. Katara, Natasha and Steve stood at the opening to get the stuff, including a few new clothes for Bruce, while the others gathered around a sullen teen. Aang placed a comforting hand on his friend's shoulder and said, "I'm really sorry about your boomerang, Sokka."

"It feels like I've lost a part of my identity." Sokka said as he was lost in sad thoughts. Then getting up he became a little hysterical as he pointed out, "Just imagine if you lost your arrow." Looking to Thor he said, "Or if you lost your hammer." Then to Bruce, "Or if you lost the Hulk." Then turning to the other three said, "If Steve lost his shield, Nat lost her long, flowing, red hair or Katara lost her-"

The teen had to stop to think and it made them all look to him. They gave him confused looks before he said, "Hair loopies."

The sullen teen then walked up to the shop and Katara hugged her brother. When she let go he seemed to be cheered up a little. The shop keeper brought their new supplies and said, "Here's your produce, ponytail guy."

Everyone sighed as Sokka became sad again and turned to take the basket. He turned away with the basket in hand and said, "I used to be boomerang guy."

"It's okay, Sokka." Bruce said as he walked with the teen. The shop keeper then came back with a few articles of clothing and said, "Here you go."

"Okay, how much do we owe you?" Natasha said as Katara started to fish around for the money. The man started to say, "Oh, it's about-"

He stopped when he saw who was standing at the back of the group. The shop keeper's eyes went wide with surprise and he asked, "Sir Thor?"

"Hm?" Thor asked as he was a little confused. The man then said, "I know that it's been a little while, but you once bought an apple from my stand."

"I did?" Thor asked as it wasn't cleared up for him. The shop keeper then asked, "I'm surprised that you don't remember where you're at, Sir Thor."

Then pointing to the village, that's when Thor's eyes grew wide with realization. Steve then asked, "Are you okay, Thor?"

"I'm fine." Thor nodded. Then he revealed, "It's just that this is where I ended up after our battle at the base."

"Huh, I guess we never really asked." Katara commented. Then she looked to the keeper and asked, "So, how much was it again?"

"Only one copper coin." The shop keeper then said. It confused Katara, Steve and Natasha as the Waterbender then said, "Really, I figured it would be a little more than that."

"Are you kidding?" The shop keeper said, getting all fanboy like. Then gesturing to Thor he said, "Hardly anyone in the town of Chin would make Thor Odinson pay full price after what he's done."

"And that would be?" Steve said as Katara placed a coin on the counter. The man picked it up and was fascinated by it and said, "Hey, Water Tribe money."

"I hope that it's okay." Katara hopefully said. The man nodded and said with a shrug, "As long as its money, but it's really okay for a friend of Thor's."

The man then came out of the shop and closed it up. The shop keeper then looked to Thor and asked, "Are you coming to the festival, Thor?"

"Ah, yes. The festival." Thor said as he nodded. Then he said, "But please don't tell anyone. I wish for it to be a surprise."

"You got it." The shop keeper said before heading to town. But before he disappeared, the man waved to them and said, "Have a nice Avatar Day!"

"Avatar Day?" Aang asked, looking between Thor and the shop keeper. The shop keeper nodded before continuing to the village. Steve then asked, "Thor, what is Avatar Day exactly?"

"Oh, before I left I was told that it was a day that celebrated the Avatar." Thor said. Bruce then asked, "And what did you do that made the town love you so much."

"Oh, did a few things here and there. Saved a few people from a burning building while two or three women were about to have children." Thor recounted. Then he said, "Plus, there were a few raids by bandits and a few other things."

"Huh." Natasha said. Aang then asked, "Should we at least check it out."

"Fine. But on one condition." Steve said. While Aang, Sokka, Thor and Bruce were a little confused, Katara and Natasha both knew what the super soldier was talking about. Steve then said, "No repeat of Kyoshi Island."

"Oh." Aang and Sokka said as they remembered. Aang then nodded and said, "I promise this time."

"Good.' Steve nodded before they all started to head towards the village. Though most of the group had smiles on their faces, Katara placed her hand on her weeping brother.

\_|_/

The group had entered the village and were able to put on a few disguises, or new clothes all together, and entered the crowd. Aang still had on his cone hat while Thor, Bruce, Steve and Natasha all had one cloaks. Music played as they joined a large crowd in them idle of the village. Aang was very surprised as he looked about, "There's a holiday for the Avatar. Who knew?"

"Though it's a little weird that no one else has mentioned it." Natasha pointed out. But before they could talk about it some more, Katara looked behind her and said, "Look, they made a giant Kyoshi float."

A giant float of one of Aang's past lives did come rolling down the road. The Kyoshi float had her fans attached to her hands, but were a little upside down. The group all moved to where they could get a better look at the parade. When they came to a spot were they could see better, Sokka pointed, "And here comes Avatar Roku."

A giant float of Avatar Roku rolled on by and watched as the two floats were pulled into the middle of town. The Roku float had what looked to be fire blasts attached to its hands. Aang smiled as he said, "Having a huge festival in your honor is great." He shrugged when he added, "But, frankly, it's just nice to be appreciated."

"That's some good insight." Bruce nodded as they kept watching. Natasha looked to Thor and asked, "So, when are you going to tell them?"

"In a minute. Let's let them enjoy the festivities." Thor said with a grin. A cheered up Sokka lifted up a pastry and said, "Well, I'm appreciating their deep fried festival food."

He started to eat what he had while Momo took a little bit off at a time. Natasha chuckled while she watched as Sokka was oblivious to the sneakiness of Momo. Katara then noticed something coming and said, "Aang, look!"

"That's the biggest me that I've ever seen." Aang said as they watched a large float shaped like him rolled down the street. The float had ornaments that looked like puffs of air attached to its hands. The float's shadow passed over them as it made its way to the middle of town. Soon it stood amongst the Roku and Kyoshi floats. The floats were lined up like the Avatar Cycle with it going from Kyoshi to Aang.

The group then looked back down the street and saw a guy holding a torch in his hands. The team was a little put off that the guy was dressed in what almost looked like Thor's armor. Sokka then commented, "Now, a torch, that's a nice prop. It's bright, dangerous…" He took in a deep breath through his nose, "It smells manly.

"But I'm not sure that I could carry it off." He said as he continued eating, only to find that his snack was a gone. The crowd continued to cheer when most of the group noticed that the guy in the Thor costume was quickly running at the Kyoshi float. Katara asked, "Hey. What is that guy doing?"

"He's gonna run right into the Kyoshi float." Bruce said as the guy yelled and leapt through the float. He tore through the float just as the torch set it ablaze. The crowd then chanted, "Down with the Avatar!"

The group all watched in horror as the flames completely engulfed the Kyoshi float while the man with the torch brought the torch close to the Roku float's foot. The fire quickly caught before spreading over it as well.

\_|_/

Meanwhile, in another town built onto a hill, things were a little calmer. The streets were mostly quiet save for a few villagers here and there. A couple was walking past a few stands with their bought goods on either their head or shoulders. The two were unaware as a shadow ran past them on the roof. The two kept walking when the Blue Spirit dropped down and unsheathed his swords. Slicing through the pole that held the basket, the man then backed away as the Blue Spirit walked up and used his blades pick up before letting them slide onto his shoulders. Then running up, he jumped while grabbing the jug from the woman. The two released their embrace as they looked for the Blue Spirit, but were grateful that they weren't hurt.

From underneath the shadows of a stall, a man had witnessed the robbery but chose not to say anything.

\_|_/

A fly buzzed around before a lizard's tongue caught it. Underneath the lizard, the Blue Spirit walked through the woods. He stopped by a tree before taking off his mask and placing it in the hollow near the bottom. Zuko then took his stolen goods further into the forest. But before he took another step forward, he looked around the trunk of a tree and saw that his uncle was still where he had left him. In a cave with a few possessions. Iroh looked up to see Zuko set the things down and was surprised to see that Zuko had them at all. He continued to look at the barrels of buns and jug as he asked, "Where did you get these things?"

"What does it matter where they came from?" Zuko asked as he walked off. Iroh found that Zuko's odd but usual behavior, coupled with the stolen goods to be suspicious. He gave a low growl of suspicion as he took one of the buns and took a bite. But the taste took his suspicious mind away as he enjoyed the bun and it leaked a little when he went, "Mmm."

\_|_/

The group continued to watch as the Kyoshi and Roku floats continued to burn. The crowd continued to chant over and over again, "Down with the Avatar!"

The six then looked to see a man in fancy robes and hat turn to the man with the torch who was now on the roof of a building. The man then motioned for the man and the man nodded. Then moving his hand with the torch back, the torch barer flung it at the Aang float. It hit the float right in the right eye and it caused a few in the group to wince. The crowd around them cheered for the burning of the floats. Natasha then pointed to it and said, "That's a lot more than a shiner right there."

The group all slightly glared at her and she shrugged. Having had enough, Katara ran forward and with raised her arms to raise some water from a few giant urns. Then with a jump and forwarding motion of her hands she sent the streams of water to the floats and put the fires out. All three floats were burned no matter how big or small the fires had been. The six in the crowd looked to their left as one of the villagers sounded angry when he said, "That party pooper is ruining Avatar Day!"

Not liking how they were bad mouthing their friend, Aang then used his airbending to jump onto the shoulder of his float and looked down at them all. He removed his hat as he said, "That party pooper, is my friend."

He tossed it away and revealed his shiny dome of a head. It sparkled in the sunlight as the crowds all looked upon him. The man with the fancy hat and green robe fearfully said, "It's the Avatar himself."

"He's going to kill us with his awesome Avatar powers." The other villager said with equal fear when he stepped forward. Aang tried to alleviate their fears by lifting a hand and saying, "No, I'm not. I-"

The man jumped into the shaking crowd and hid from Aang's sight. Aang looked to his and before placing both behind his back. The man in green stood back up as he said, "I suggest you all leave." He dusted himself off before waving Aang off while saying, "You're not welcome here, Avatar."

"But why?" Thor asked as he removed his disguise. The entire crowd all gasped in awe and were no longer in fear. One of the villagers then joyously shouted, "Sir Thor has returned, and he's going to defend us from the Avatar."

"What?" The entire group asked in confusion. Thor shook his head as he looked between the citizens of Chin and Aang before saying, "No, I won't fight Aang. He's my friend."

Then looking to the man in green he asked, "Mayor Tong, what is exactly is going on?"

"What do you mean, Thor?" Mayor Tong asked as if it were a stupid question. Then he said, "We're celebrating Avatar Day and the Avatar has come to ruin our festivities."

"Aang has not come to ruin anything." Thor vouched for his friend. The Asgardian then asked, "Mayor Tong, what exactly is Avatar Day?"

"Huh." Mayor Tong said as he placed a hand to his chin. Then glancing the townsfolk before looking back to their hero he said, "I guess we only told you about the upcoming festival. We never did tell you about the festival itself.

"I think it would be best if our current residential record keeper should tell you." Mayor Tong then said. Then turning he said, "Someone give him a push in the right direction."

Aang jumped down from his float and it scared some of the villagers. They didn't have to wait long as an old man with a small moustache and orange tinted glasses wearing brown robes walked up to the front. Thor smiled as he said, "Mr. Lee, it's nice to see you again."

"Same to you, Sir Thor." Mr. Lee said as he walked to the front of the group. Then looking to each of them he said, "Gather 'round kiddies, 'cause I'm only gonna tell it once. I'm old after all."

Gesturing to the burned floats he said, "Avatar Day is the one day of the year where we wish that whomever the Avatar is to pay for the horrible crime that they committed against the town."

"That's crazy talk right there." Bruce argued in Aang's defense. Katara was with him and said, "Bruce's right. Aang helps people. As have all of the Avatars before him."

"It's true; I'm on your side." Aang said as he took a step closer. The townsfolk all flinched and Steve then said to Aang, "You might want to keep back a little."

"I find that a bit hard to swallow, Avatar." Mayor Tong said as he clasped his hands together. Then he said, "Especially considering what you did to us in your past life." Then pointing to the Kyoshi float he said, "It was Avatar Kyoshi who did it. She murdered our glorious leader, Chin the Great."

"You think that I murdered someone?" Aang asked in disbelief that any Avatar before him would do such a thing. Steve then asked, "I doubt that she would have killed anyone in cold blood."

"We used to be a great society before you killed our leader." A voice said from the right. Everyone looked to see an old man with a disfigured face. Then pointing to himself he said, "Now look at us!"

Everyone from the group to the villagers, cringed from the old man's face. But Mr. Lee then said, "Pay no attention to Ugly Dan! He was born that way."

"Aang would never do something like that." Katara vouched as she placed a hand on his shoulder. Natasha nodded and said, "He makes mistakes from time to time, but he's no killer."

"No Avatar would do that." Katara added with a shake of her head. Then she pointed at them and said, "And it's not fair you all to question his honor."

"Let's tell this girl what we think of the Avatar's honor." The villager from earlier said. Then jumping around he pointed his butt at them and made a farting noise, from who knows where is beyond anyone. This caused the crowd to agree with the guy. Thor then said, "My friends, there must be a way to resolve this."

"Please, give me a chance to clear my name." Aang asked them. Mayor Tong then said, "Since it is mostly at Thor's behest, and since you are willing, the only way to prove your innocence is to stand trial."

"I'll gladly stand trial." Aang agreed. His friends all stood by his side. The Mayor then said, "You'll also have to follow all of our rules. And that includes paying bail."

"No problem." Aang said, feeling that it wouldn't be one. Mr. Lee then said, "And we only take-"

Ten minutes later…

Metal bars clinked together as the Avatar soon found himself in jail and wearing a stock over his head and hands. He looked to his six friends outside of a large jail cell, who were either facepalming or looking to the Airbender with questioning looks and he asked, "How was I supposed to know that they wouldn't take Water Tribe money?"

The Avatar was being held in a central courtyard as the prison was one of the biggest buildings in town. Sokka looked at Aang through the grate and he said, "So a village of people don't like you. Big deal." Then he tried to make it sound much better by saying, "There are a whole lot of Firebenders in the Fire Nation who hate you." Then getting serious he said, "Now, let's bust you out of here."

"I can't." Aang said as he hung his head. Thinking otherwise, Sokka then said, "Sure you can!" The whole group looked to him as he said, "A little-" He made whooshing sounds as he went all over the viewing room and made airbending motions with his hands before coming back up the grate and said, "Airbending slice!"

Then with a circling motion of his hands he pointed he said, "And then we're on our way."

Aang and the four Avengers all looked to the teen along with Katara with questioning looks. But luckily for Sokka, Katara spoke up, "I think that what 'Master Swish' is trying to say is that you're supposed to be out saving the world."

"And he will." Steve said siding with Aang. Looking to the Airbender he said, "But he doesn't feel like he can do it something like this on his conscience."

"Steve's right." Aang nodded. Then he said, "I can't save the world with people thinking that I'm a murderer, either."

"Can't you use your connections to the town to help sort this out?" Natasha asked the Asgardian. Thor then said, "I suppose that I could talk to Mayor Tong to at least give us a description of what the story is, but for Aang himself…"

"It might be better if he waits for the trial." Bruce spoke up. Thor nodded in agreement. Aang then said, "I need you guys to help prove my innocence."

"But just in asking-" Bruce started up a question. They looked to him as the scientist asked, "Even though she's Aang's past life, isn't she mostly responsible for her own actions?"

"What?" Some of the group questioned. Bruce then explained his question, "Since Kyoshi lived so long ago, no one today really remembers what went down between her and Chin. It might not be how we think."

"You could be right about that." Natasha said as she thought about it. But looking to their locked-up friend she said, "But let's just focusing on helping Aang for right now."

"Right." They all agreed. Sokka then asked, "So where do we start? Like Bruce said, the crime was said to have happened over three hundred years ago. So where do we start?"

"Maybe we should split up." Steve suggested. They looked to him as he said, "Someone will stay here with Aang to make sure that no funny business goes down. Then someone can go to where they might keep records of their history. A final team, with Sokka leading will go to the mayor to see what they can find."

"Wait." Natasha said with her hands up. Then she questioned, "Why is Sokka in charge of one of the groups?"

"It's mostly because once or twice he's told me that he's classified as an expert detective." Steve said with a deadpanned glance to the teen. Sokka looked a little prideful at the reminder. Katara perked up as she too remembered, "Oh, yeah! Back home he was famous for solving the mystery of the missing seal jerky."

"Everyone in the village wanted to blame it on a polar leopard…" Sokka started to describe what happened. Everyone was slightly bored with it as he continued, "But I figured out that it was Old Man Jarko wearing polar leopard boots." When Katara and the Avengers looked to Aang, they slightly smiled to see that he was mimicking Sokka as he finished up, "See, a real eight-hundred-pound polar leopard would have left much deeper tracks in the snow.

"Okay, I guess that I am pretty good." Sokka admitted with a grin. Steve then asked, "So, will you do it?"

"Will you help me with my case, Sokka?" A hopeful Aang asked. Sokka took a minute to think it over but then agreed, "Okay, I'll do it." But then he added, "But first I'm going to need some new props for this."

Five minutes later…

Sokka was back before them wearing a ridiculous looking hat. The whole group was a little surprised by the hat and found it a little funny. Sokka slid a monocle attached to the hat around as he said, "I'm ready."

Most of the group started to snicker from Sokka's new look and it made the detective extend the monocle and he questioned, "What?"

"Nothing." Steve said. Then he said, "Sokka, you, Katara and Nat go with Thor to talk to the mayor." Then looking to Bruce he said, "You go and see if you can find a library or archives with this place's history."

"Right." Bruce nodded in agreement. Looking Aang, Steve then said, "I'll stay here with Aang. Hopefully, nothing happens while you're gone."

"Right." Those heading out said before leaving the prison. Steve and Aang shared a glance and hoped that their friends found something to help them.

Elsewhere in the Earth Kingdom, a nobleman's cart was being pulled by an armored ostrich-horse as it brayed. Two guards steered the ostrich horse while the nobleman sat inside. The nobleman had a large greedy smile as he played with a large amount of coins in a small chest. The coins clacked together when he lifted some and let them fall back into the pile and did it all over again.

A large bump caused the man to fall forward. The man heard a commotion outside as he heard the guard outside fighting someone and losing. The man quickly locked the box before holding it close as the sounds of battle continued outside. Sweat ran down his head and the man breathed heavily as he waited for the sounds to stop. When it sounded like they did, the nobleman gave a sigh of relief.

But it wasn't over when a blade sliced through the roof of his cart and he screamed in fear. Another slice followed through before a fist came crashing into the cart. The nobleman looked up in fear as the Blue Spirit stood menacingly above him and moved his combined sword together. The nobleman held the chest up to the Blue Spirit who swiped it out of the man's hands. When the nobleman looked again, he saw that the Blue Spirit was gone. His guards were lying beside the road and the ostrich-horse had run off.

Sokka, Thor, Natasha and Katara all walked up to the mayor's office, and were receiving mixed stares the whole way. When they reached it, a man held the door open for them and waved to Thor. The Asgardian nodded back to them and they gasped in excitement. When they made it to the mayor's office, they saw Mayor Tong step out of his office. Katara walked up to him and said, "Mayor Tong?"

"Yes." Mayor Tong said before he turned to them. Then he said, "Oh, Thor and his friends." Then he bitterly remembered, "And the Avatar's friends as well."

"Uh, okay." Natasha then said. Thor then said, "We're trying to find out exactly what happened between Avatar Kyoshi and Chin. Do you think you can help us?"

"Well, I guess if you're asking, Thor." The Mayor said as he thought about it. Then he said, "Just let me get a few things done and then I'll take you to the scene of the horrible crime."

"Thank you, Mayor Tong." Thor nodded his thanks as the mayor walked off. They only hoped that Aang could hold out until then.

Bruce walked through town through town trying to find something to help Aang's case. He tried to ask a few people but they either ignored them or gave him stares. Bruce was able to guess that the stares were for him being friends with the Avatar, and those ignoring him were just really rude. He then looked to see Mr. Lee walking by. Running up to him he said, "Mr. Lee!"

Mr. Lee looked to see Bruce slow his run into a walk before stopping before him. Placing his hands into his sleeves, Mr. Lee then said, "Well, Mr. Banner. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I've been wandering around for a little bit now, but I can't nor will anyone help me-" Bruce started to say. But Mr. Lee beat him to it by saying, "You want to know how to find out about the whole Chin and Kyoshi incident."

Bruce became very surprised by that and said, "Yeah. How'd you know that."

"My friend." Mr. Lee said with a chuckle. He patted the scientist's shoulder and said, "Ever since I was a boy, I knew that there must a reason as to what exactly happened that day. And I can help you."

"Thank you." Bruce said with a relieved sigh. Mr. Lee then gestured for Bruce to follow, "I'll show you the way."

Bruce followed after Mr. Lee, really thankful that someone was being helpful.

Mayor Tong had completed his tasks at the office and no lead the four through the town. They came to a cliff with an amp Théâtre overlooking a statue and a small temple before looking out to the ocean and the horizon. Mayor Tong then said, "This here is the crime scene."

The four began to look about while Sokka took a close look at the temple. He walked up the steps and looked at the archway of the door. Mayor Tong had walked to the edge of the cliff and gestured to something at his feet, "This is the footprint of the killer, Kyoshi."

All four walked over an looked down to see a small foot print. Sokka kneeled down and looked at the footprint. The monocle inadvertently dropped down into the footprint. The mayor then described the fateful day, "It was at sunset. Three hundred and seventy years ago today, when she emerged from this temple from this here temple and struck down Chin the Great."

They all looked around the temple to the statue of the hero as it had a fist raised. Mayor Tong sounded mournful when he said, "After that tragic day, we built this statue to immortalize our great leader." Then looking to Thor he said, "And before too long, we will have a statue to immortalize our great hero."

"Uh, thank you." Thor said, not knowing how to feel about it. Mayor Tong looked to them and said, "Feel free to look about."

With that said, the mayor started to walk off back into the village. Sokka then said, "Okay, gang. Let's look for clues."

"Yes, meddling kid." Natasha jokingly said, causing a chuckle from Katara and Thor. Sokka just glared at her before walking up to the statue. He looked over it, noticing everything about it. Then he ran over to the temple before examining it as well.

Thor and Natasha walked back over to the footprint and took a look around it. Natasha then said, "The footprint is really small. It seems to be more military grade by what I'm seeing. And judging by the indention that it makes into the earth, I'd have to say that whoever it belongs to is a lightweight."

"So probably not Kyoshi?" Thor asked. Natasha nodded and Thor looked to the cliff. That's when he noticed something and took a closer look. Natasha saw him kneel down next to the edge and asks, "See something?"

"Somewhat." Thor said as he ran his finger against the rock. When he removed it he said, "Though much has faded over time, the cliff at this small point had been touched by magma."

"But that doesn't make much sense." Natasha shook her head as he stood up. Sokka then shouted, "Thor, Nat, I think I've found something."

The two Avengers looked to each other before shrugging and walking back. When they joined the siblings, Sokka then said, "I've seen signs that both the temple and the statue had been cut from the same stone. And we all know that the statue was built after Chin died."

"So, if they were built around the same time, then that would mean-" Katara started to say. But Sokka silenced her when he came too close and rudely said, "Shh! I want to be the one to solve it!"

The three gave him slight looks as he walked past them. He pointed and then continued, "That means that Kyoshi never set foot in this temple."

"That's a really big hole in the mayor's story." Katara pointed out. Thor then said, "Or someone who had a grudge against Kyoshi."

"It could have been fabricated and the townsfolk just believed it as time went on." Natasha agreed. Katara then said, "But unfortunately, this isn't enough to prove Aang's innocence."

"Well, we do know one thing." Thor said as he looked between his friends and the two constructions. They looked to him when he said, "We do know that both Kyoshi and Chin were at this spot on the day that they speak of."

"What did you two find out?" Katara asked. Natasha then said, "Well, for one thing, the footprint might not be Kyoshi's."

"Plus, there's a lot about what happened on that day that we do not know about." Thor added. Then he said, "The very tip, and maybe the whole of the cliff once, seems to have been touched by magma."

"But that doesn't make any sense." Sokka said as it confused the siblings. With a shrug he said, "There aren't any places for an eruption to occur."

"There might be a place that has more answers that we're looking for." Natasha suggested. Sokka nodded and said, "You're right." Then raising a dragon bubble pipe to his lips he blew out some bubbles before saying, "We need to go to Kyoshi Island."

"Where did you get that?" Katara asked as none of the three remembered him getting that when he got the hat. But Sokka only responded by blowing more bubbles.

Back at the prison, Aang was waiting patiently for the others to come back while Steve waited outside the prison cell. A small rodent scurried around in the courtyard while Aang watched. Steve then reassured him, "Don't worry, Aang. The guys will come through for us."

"I sure hope so, Steve." Aang said as he was still a little worried. Suddenly, a voice from the shadows said, "You got a bald head and some nice tattoos."

They both looked to the back of the cell to where some of the other inmates were concealed by the shadows. The owner of the voice walked out and revealed to be a bald man with a green snake tattoo running all over his body. With a growl, the man lunged forward at Aang. The Airbender gasped while Steve prepared to go in. But the prisoner had a chain wrapped around his neck and it stopped him from getting real close. Looking down at Aang he said, "You're going to fit in real well around here, kid."

Aang gave a nervous smile as the man clenched a fist. Steve still got ready to bend the bars to protect Aang from the guy. But the man relaxed and then said, "But you don't have to worry much about us. We're not so bad once you get to know us."

"Huh?" Aang and Steve said as they became confused.

The group had been flying on Appa for a few hours and soon saw the island of Kyoshi underneath them. When they started flying real low to land, the people of the island saw the bison and someone rang the bell. Everyone became excited to see the group again and ran to meet them at the village entrance.

Appa passed over the statue of Avatar Kyoshi before landing right in front of it. The whole town had gathered to see the team. Cheers rang out and a familiar face ran to the front of the crowd. He became lost for words as he looked to some folks. They were startled when he gave nonsensical mutters as he looked between them. Then raising his hands into the air he began shouting with joy and started foaming at the mouth. Then the man slowly fell to the ground and passed out.

All four of the team waved to the islanders. Another familiar face, Koko, saw that one person in particular wasn't among them. Stamping her foot she questioned, "Hey, where's Aangie?"

"He couldn't be here, Koko." Katara told the little girl. This caused a few dejected cries from the crowd. The foaming fan rose to his feet and looked about to see the sad look on everyone's faces. Then wiping his mouth, the man then raised his shirt over his head like a hood before walking off. The rest of the dejected crowd followed after them. Oyaji walked up to them and gave a nod, "Good to see you my friends."

"Good to see you too Oyaji." Natasha greeted with a smile. Oyaji noticed Thor and said, "I see that you have found one of your fellow Avengers."

"Two actually, since I last saw you." Natasha said, "We found our friend Bruce in the Bang Grove Swamp."

"Oh, I've heard tales of that swamp." Oyaji said. Katara then walked up and said, "Oyaji, Aang is in jail. The town of Chin thinks that he murdered their leader in a past life."

"They say it was Kyoshi." Sokka said after blowing a few bubbles from his dragon pipe. Momo jumped off of Appa and landed on Thor's shoulder as it sounded absurd to Oyaji and he questioned, "Kyoshi?! That's crazy talk."

"Think you can help us?" Thor asked. Oyaji nodded and said, "I'll take you to her shrine. Maybe something there will help you clear her and Aang's name."

They all started walking together to get to the shrine.

Back at the town of Chin, Bruce continued to follow Mr. Lee until they came to large building. Mr. Lee then said, "This is the town archive. If what you know what you want to know, this is the place to find it."

"Thank you, Mr. Lee." Bruce said with a bow of his head. Then he walked into the building and opened the door with Mr. Lee following after him. He saw that it looked like just about any other library or archive, a lot of shelves with cubbies for either scrolls or books.

Bruce walked up to the clerk and asked, "Hiya. I'm looking for anything on the final days of Chin the Great."

"First shelf to the front of the door and at the back." The clerk said as if he were really bored. Bruce's eyes darted between the clerk and Mr. Lee before saying, "Uh, thanks."

The clerk didn't say anything and Bruce and Mr. Lee walked away from him. Coming up on the first shelf, Bruce then walked down the row before coming to the back of the archives. Bruce then said, "Okay, we need to know what happened before Chin was founded."

"Very well, True Believer." Mr. Lee said as they started looking through the scrolls. They gathered up anything that had to do with Chin and what they allowed of Kyoshi.

Bruce carried all the books and scrolls to a table. The two started looking between the old papers to see what they could find.

Back at the town of Chin's prison, Steve and Aang got to know the prisoners a little better.

"So, you're mostly putting on the big bad prisoner look for show?" Steve said as the man and a few other prisoners between the light and dark halves of the jail cell. The man with the snake tattoo nodded and said, "We don't rough up anyone unless we really have to."

"So, what are you in for?" Aang asked as he was able to sit down. The man with the snake tattoo then said, "We're mostly in here because we picked fights. A few broken bones here and there."

"Not that we enjoyed it. We were just trying to defend our honor." A man with tanned skin and a white beard said. Aang then said, "Maybe you guys will get out soon."

"Hopefully." The man with the tattoos said. Steve then said from the viewing room, "Don't give up hope. It can be the brightest light in the dark."

"True words, Captain Rogers." The other man said with a nod. The man with the snake tattoo then asked the Airbender, "So, got something to get off your chest there, Aang?"

"Well, there is kind of one thing." Aang said as he started to tell them a little about himself.

Back on Kyoshi, Oyaji led Katara, Sokka, Thor and Natasha past the Kyoshi Warrior's training dojo. Sokka looked at the building but couldn't hear anything inside. He stopped to see if she was there but didn't see anything. The teen then ran to catch up to the others and asked Oyaji, "So, what's Suki up to?" His sister and friends looked to him with grins as he asked, "Is she around?"

"Actually, she and the other warriors left to go fight in the war." Oyaji said, surprising three of the four. Momo took off into the air and flew ahead. Oyaji sounded a little proud when he said, "You kids had left a big impact on Suki and the others. She said that you inspired her and she wanted to help change the world for the better. Even the others were willing to go and join her."

"Oh." Sokka said as he was a little disappointed. But he gave his support by saying, "Well, then… that's great."

"Maybe we'll see her when we're on the road." Natasha said to cheer him up. Sokka smiled in appreciation to this. They soon came to a spot where a small temple sat behind a gate. Oyaji then told them, "This temple was converted into a shrine to honor Kyoshi."

"You two go ahead." Thor said as he started walking around the shrine. This confused to the siblings. Katara then asked, "Where are you going?"

"Me and Thor want to check something out." Natasha said as they continued walking. Katara looked to Sokka and Oyaji and her brother only shrugged. The three walked into the shrine. When they walked into the room, Sokka and Katara looked about as Oyaji said, "The clerics tell us that these very relics are still connected to her spirit."

Katara walked up to Kyoshi's outfit and boots. Oyaji told her, "That's her kimono."

"She had exquisite taste." Katara said when she looked to him while touching the kimono. But Oyaji became serious when he said, "Please, don't touch that!"

Katara immediately let go of the kimono. Sokka stood before the very weapons of Kyoshi when he said like a detective, "These fans." He picked one up by the blade and asked, "These were her weapons, no?"

"Also refrain from touching the fans." Oyaji said in annoyance as Sokka shook it. Sokka then placed the fan back on its pedestal, but it ended up falling to the floor. Katara kneeled down to look at Kyoshi's foot where. She was surprised when she asked, "These were her boots? Her feet must have been enormous."

She was a little spooked when Momo poked his head from the right boot. Oyaji was proud when he said, "The biggest of any Avatar."

That got Katara thinking about the crime scene and what her friends said, "Wait just a minute. Big feet? Little footprints?" She stood up straight and turned to her brother, "Then there's no way-"

But she stopped when her brother cleared his throat. She saw her brother's questioning look as he asked, "Special outfit, a hat and a pipe- Do these things mean anything to you?"

"You're right. I'm sorry. After all, Steve did put you in charge of the investigation." Katara said with a lip. Then gesturing to him he said, "Please, continue."

"Aha!" Sokka said as he started to take what Katara was about to say. Using his own foot as an example when he said, "There's no way that Kyoshi could have made that little footprint, and therefore, there is nothing linking her to the crime scene."

"Brilliant, Sokka." Katara said with an eye roll. She then suggested, "Let's wait to see what Thor and Nat find out."

"What do you even suppose that they're looking for?" Sokka asked as they looked out the door.

\_|_/

Outside the shrine, Natasha and Thor came to the cliff. Natasha then asked, "Looking for signs that the cliff was burned by magma?"

"Yes." Thor said before kneeling down by the edge. Then feeling the side of the cliff his fingers brushed against the rocky surface. He nodded and said, "It's faint, but the feel of rock burnt by magma is there."

"And look at this." Natasha said next to him. Thor looked as she moved some grass back to reveal large square shaped footprints. She then said, "No doubt that someone was standing here a long time ago."

"And I'm willing to bet that if one were able to go in a straight line from here to Chin, then that other footprint would be exactly in front of the others." Thor put together. Natasha then said, "Let's go and tell the others."

"Right." Thor said as they both stood up and walked back to the shrine.

Back at the town of Chin in the archives, Bruce and Mr. Lee were still reading through the scrolls and books. Bruce put down a scroll when he didn't find anything useful in it. When he picked up a tome, he read aloud, "The final battle of Chin the Great." Looking to Mr. Lee and said, "I found something."

"Hm." Mr. Lee said and looked over to the scientist. Getting up, the older gentleman looked over Bruce's shoulder. With a shake of his head he said, "I don't recall seeing this book here."

"Well, let's take a look into it." Bruce said as he opened it. His eyes widened and he said, "It's a journal, but I can't exactly make out the name of the author."

Bruce then started reading, "The final day of Chin's conquest is supposed to come to an end. Avatar Kyoshi had tried many times to peacefully talk to Chin to end his reign with an iron fist as he sought to conquer most of the Earth Kingdom, minus the capital in Ba Sing Se, also, the city of Omashu did put up a fight that nearly crippled us.

But no was a questioning day, for we arrived at the peninsula where it is said that Kyoshi was born, where her people resided. Everyone in Chin's army knew that she would protect her home however she could. I only hope that we do not lose our lives if we try to fight her, not that I wanted to fight her.

"So there was someone who was there at the battle." Bruce said before he skipped ahead. Then he said, "Aha." Then kept reading, "The battle ended in disaster, mostly for Chin since he not only lost his last conquest, his dignity, his clothing, but greatly his life.

I knew that he was very stubborn in life, but I cannot believe that he would throw his life away. Even if he wasn't meaning to. I don't know much since I was at the back of the army and ran away with the others when Kyoshi began bending the elements. But I did watch as Chin fell to his doom.

"So, it looks like Avatar Aang doesn't have a role in this." Mr. Lee said. Bruce looked to him and said, "But there's still something between Chin and Avatar Kyoshi."

"And since there are no other accounts to this guy's story…" Bruce shook the book as he thought. He shook his head when he added, "We don't know exactly if there was a killing blow or not."

"Only Kyoshi would know." Mr. Lee pointed out. Bruce stood up and started to place most of the scrolls and books back. He kept hold of the book he had when he finished. They walked out of the archives when Bruce said, "Hopefully, Sokka's group has found something."

The sun was starting to set as Aang still sat with the group of prisoners. Aang had told them about his feelings for Katara and Steve watched from the grate. The man with the snake tattoo then reassured the Airbender, "This girl that you're talking about? She'll come around." With a nod he added, "You just got to hang in there."

"You guys really think so?" Aang asked as he was able to pull his head from the stock. They all nodded in agreement, "Sure. Yeah. You're a catch."

"I don't know." Aang said as he still felt unsure. But the prisoners were on Aang's side as the man with the snake tattoos then said, "Hey, don't be like that. Remember, you're smart, handsome, funny. Not to mention that you're the Avatar."

"You guys are great." Aang said as he took their words to heart. The man with the scar over his eye cried as he let his feelings out, "Don't be afraid to tell her how you feel about her."

"I won't." Aang nodded as the man sniffled and wiped his eye. The man with the snake tattoo looked to Steve and asked, "Hey, Cap, you got a special girl?"

"Uh, yeah." Steve nodded as he remembered Peggy. His face fell as he added, "Once. A really long time ago."

"Huh?" Some of the prisoners said, a little confused. Aang then asked, "Do you remember what I told you about Steve? And what he's been through."

"You said you told us the most important stuff." One said as he looked between Aang and Steve. Aang then said, "Well, like me, Steve was frozen in ice."

"Right." The prisoners nodded. Aang looked to Steve and the super soldier nodded. Aang looked back to the prisoners and said, "Well, while he was frozen, his world passed him by, and so did the woman he loves."

"Aw." The prisoners said in sadness. The man with the scar over his eye said, "Don't worry, man. You'll find love again someday."

"I hope you're right." Steve said, but started to wonder where his friends were.

The sun was starting to set over Kyoshi Island as well when Thor and Natasha rejoined the three. Oyaji led them to the back of the shrine and said, "And here is what was painted on the day the island was founded. The piece is called "The Birth of Kyoshi"."

Sokka looked over the painting while the others stayed back. Then he said, "It was painted at sunrise on the day this island was founded." Then he added, "Why, it was today, in fact- three hundred and seventy years ago."

Sokka spit out the bubbly water he had in his mouth when he heard that. Then grabbing Oyaji he questioned, "Three hundred and seventy years! Wait, are you sure that was today?!"

"Well, seeing how it is Kyoshi Day…" Oyaji said before pushing Sokka off of him. He dusted himself and finished, "Yes, I'm sure that it is."

Sokka took another look at the painting and really noticed something. Thor then asked, "What is it, Sokka?"

"The painting. The ceremony didn't take place at sunrise." Sokka said as he got a knowing smirk. Pointing at the painting with his pipe he said, "It was painted at sunset. Look at the shadows."

The four looked at the portrait and noticed that he was right. The shadows were facing the other way from the sun. Katara said, "Since they point east then the sun must have been in west."

"I'm a little lost here." Oyaji said with an arched brow. Katara started to explain, but Sokka shoved her out of the way and said, "So if Kyoshi was in the ceremony at sunset, then she couldn't have been in Chin committing the crime." Then turning on his heels, the monocle spun around the hat and he pointed the dragon pipe at them and then declared, "She has an alibi."

He gasped when Katara snatched the dragon pipe before bashing it against his head. While the teen rubbed his head from the pain, Katara said, "Let's get back to Chin and tell Aang, Steve and Bruce what we've found."

"Right." They all said before rushing out of the temple. Katara brought out the bison whistle and blew into it. They didn't have to wait long as the bison came flying up to them. Natasha looked to Oyaji and said, "Thank you for all your help, Oyaji."

"Anything for you heroes." Oyaji bowed his head. The four climbed back on Appa and Sokka snapped the reins, "Yip-yip!"

Appa growled as he slammed his tail against the ground and took off into the air.

They had returned to the prison in Chin long after the sun had set. All of the team was there and had asked for Mayor Tong to meet with them. Thor, Steve, Sokka, Katara, Natasha and Bruce all stood on one side of the grate while Mayor Tong and Mr. Lee stood on the other side. Aang stood on the other side of the grate as Katara said, "Honorable Mayor Tong, we've prepared a solid defense for the Avatar. Each of us helped out in an investigation and have found some very strong evidence."

Sokka smiled to Aang and Steve and gave them a thumbs up. But the mayor slightly scoffed and said, "Evidence? I'm afraid that you don't know much about Chin law."

"Huh?" The group asked in confusion. Mr. Lee took in a sharp breath and said, "Yeah, I'm afraid that the court of Chin doesn't allow witnesses or evidence to be brought forward."

"So then how can I prove my innocence?" Aang asked. Mayor Tong then said, "It's quite simple, really-" He pointed to himself, I will say what happened," then pointing to Aang he said, "and then you will say what happened, and then I will decide who's right."

This caused the entire group to gasp in shock to this. With a shrug the mayor then said, "That's why we call it 'justice'. Because it's 'just us'."

Then turning to the door he cackled at his words. The group and Mr. Lee watched Mayor Tong go. Steve looked to Mr. Lee and asked, "Is there anything we can do?"

"All I can tell you is that you can try to talk to the mayor." Mr. Lee shrugged. But then shaking his head and said, "But other than that, you'll have to follow all the rules of Chin court."

With that said, Mr. Lee walked out of the room. Thor then said, "I'll go and try to talk things over with the mayor. Maybe we can work something out."

Thor quickly rushed out of the room to go find the mayor. Natasha looked to Bruce and asked, "What did you find out?"

"All I was able to find was a journal from a soldier who was at the last conquest of Chin." Bruce said as he revealed the tome. They looked at it and he said, "The soldier who wrote in this said that most of the soldiers who faced off against Kyoshi didn't want to fight her. But unfortunately, the soldier didn't see much of what happened because he was at the back or something."

"So, there's no way of knowing if Kyoshi did or not kill Chin?" Steve asked. Bruce shook his head. Natasha then said, "Well, since we're doing this whole trial thing tomorrow, Aang's gonna have to be as convincing as he can." Looking to Sokka and Bruce she said, "Tell him as much as he can remember so when it comes to tell his side of the story, he'll at least know what he's talking about."

"Right." They both said. Katara then said, "Let's just hope that Thor's able to talk to the mayor."

\_|_/

Thor was able to catch up to the mayor before he left the prison and said, "Mayor Tong!"

"Ah, Thor." Mayor Tong said as he turned to face the Asgardian. Thor stopped before him and asked, "Mayor Tong, is there no other way to help Aang's case?"

"I do apologize Thor." Mayor Tong said as he glanced away. Then he said, "I wish that there were a way for you to help your friend. He clearly isn't anything like what I've been told of Avatar Kyoshi. But I have to do everything according to our town's laws."

"I understand." Thor said with a nod. Mayor Tong then said, "But I will at least try to be fair. If your friend's testimony is able to convince me, then I shall think it over."

"Thank you, Mayor Tong." Thor said with a bow. He then added, "That is all I can ask of you."

Thor then turned back to go and tell his friends.

\_|_/

The next morning, the crowd had gathered at the amp theatre and Aang, still in the stock, and Mayor Tong stood before the temple. The team sat amongst the villagers as they waited for the trial to start. Mayor Tong looked to Avatar Aang and said, "Good luck."

"Uh, thanks." Aang said as the mayor stepped forth. He cleared his throat to quiet the crowds and then began, "As it was foretold many a time before, Chin the Great was trying to bring stability to the Earth Kingdom., except for the capital of Ba Sing Se, since there was already order there. But then Avatar Kyoshi struck him down before he was able to finish his great work."

The mayor then walked to the seats while Aang stood next to Mr. Lee. Gesturing to Aang, Mr. Lee then said, "The accused will now present his argument."

He took a step back while Sokka placed a hand to his mouth and said to his friend, "You can do this, Aang. Just remember the evidence."

"Right. Evidence." Aang said as he tried to remember everything that Sokka and Bruce had told him last night. Natasha looked to Bruce and asked, "Do you think that he can really remember all of what you and Sokka told him last night?"

"He seemed to understand it when Sokka told him." Bruce shrugged. He held up the journal and said, "But since the guy in here doesn't know much except that Kyoshi used her Avatar abilities, I couldn't help him much with that."

"Then here's hoping." Steve said as they all watched as Aang got ready to deliver his testimony. Taking a deep breath he said, "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm about to tell you all what really happened on that day," He made himself sound confident by saying, "and I will prove it with facts.

"Fact number one…" Aang said but forgot how to say it exactly like Sokka and Bruce told him how, "Uh…"

"The footprints." Sokka quietly reminded him. Aang nodded and said, "Oh, yeah." Then pointing down to his feet he said, "I, uh, you see, have very large feet."

The crowd looked down to Aang's small feet while some on the team looked to him with wide eyes or facepalmed. Aang then tried to get them on his side by saying, "Also, your temple …" He had to think of the words, "matches your statue."

The crowd looked to the statue before looking back to Aang. Aang then finished by saying, "But I was in a painting at sunset." Then he sounded joyous as he jumped and pulled silly pose while saying, "So there you have it. I'm not guilty."

The crowd slightly glared while his friends gave him encouraging smiles, even though they were all thinking the same thing as Sokka said to the others, "He's dead."

"No kidding." Natasha said as they kept smiling. Mayor Tong huffed before saying, "We shall take a recess until sunset to decide the verdict."

The everyone in the crowd got up to do what they could before coming back for the hearing. The team got up and walked over to Aang who looked a little disappointed with himself. Sokka questioned, "You couldn't have made yourself sound a little more convincing?"

"Enough, Sokka." Thor said as he stood side by side with Aang. Placing a hand on the boy's shoulder he said, "Aang was trying his best to remember what he had been told. But perhaps that it was a bit much."

"If only one of us could have represented him in a more fair trial." Natasha said crossing her arms. Bruce then started to think and said, "I've got an idea." Looking to Aang he asked, "You said that you're connected to all of your past lives, right?"

"Yeah." Aang nodded. Steve then asked, "Where are you going with this, exactly?"

"Well, we know that we wouldn't be able to show any evidence or bring in any witnesses, for obvious reasons…" Bruce started as he started work out a plan. Then he suggested, "But what if it wasn't just a witness, but the person in question."

"Like Avatar Kyoshi." Katara said as she too thought about it. But Aang then pointed out, "But it's not gonna be like at Roku's Island."

"True, it's not any where close to the solstice." Sokka shook his head. Thor then asked, "But is it possible to connect to her spirit? Maybe with something of hers?"

"Like the relics on Kyoshi Island!" Katara remembered. Steve then said, "Here's the plan. Nat, Sokka, Katara, Thor will go to Kyoshi and ask to borrow the relics. Bruce and I will stay here with Aang and wait for you all to get back."

"Then let's hurry." Sokka said as both groups ran off to get their missions done.

Back at their cave, Iroh walked into the cave as more and more stuff had been brought in. Iroh kneeled down next to a fancy tea set while saying, "Looks like you went and did some very, serious shopping." He picked it up and asked, "But where did you get the money for it all?"

"Do you like your new tea pot?" Zuko asked, dancing around the subject. Deciding to play along for the moment, Iroh then said, "Do you like your new teapot?"

"To be honest with you, Prince Zuko, the best tea tastes delicious whether it comes in a porcelain pot or a tin cup." Iroh told him. Rising from his spot, the older man walked up to his young nephew and said, "I know that we've had some difficult times lately. We've lost our home, good friends, and now a days of being fugitives." He turned it around by saying, "And though we've struggled just to get by, it's not something to be ashamed of.

"There is a simple honor in poverty." Iroh said with a nod. But Zuko became frustrated as he thought about honor and hung his head. With a shake of his head, "There's no honor for me without the Avatar."

Iroh sighed at the situation of Zuko's honor and said, 'Zuko…" He got very real by saying, "even if you did capture the Avatar again. And was able to go home, I doubt that it would solve our problems so easily. Not right now."

"Then there is no hope at all." Zuko said, feeling like the world was completely against him and his uncle. But when he turned to leave, Iroh grabbed his nephew's shoulders and said, "No, Zuko!" Pulling his nephew back he said, "Do not give in to despair."

Zuko didn't look his uncle in the eye as Iroh imparted his wisdom, "If you allow yourself to slip down that road, and you will surrender to your lowest instincts." Iroh then said, "In the darkest of times, hope is something that you give yourself. That is the meaning of inner strength."

Zuko turned to look his uncle in the eye as Iroh let him go. Without so much as a word, Zuko rose to his feet and walked out of the cave. Iroh watched him go before hanging his head and closing his eyes, hoping for his nephew to find his light.

It was an hour before sunset and the group had successfully returned with Kyoshi's stuff. While the guys were helping Aang to get ready, Katara and Natasha stood in front of the regathered crowd and the former said, "Mayor Tong and people of the town of Chin, I'd like for the court to hear one last testimony."

"My dear, girl." Mayor Tong said as he rose to his feet. With a shake of his head he reminded, "You cannot call out for a witness. It is just supposed to be me and the accused."

"That's why we're bringing the accused." Natasha said, confusing the crowd. Steve, Thor, Bruce and Sokka came out from behind the temple and walked up to the girls. Katara then said, "I know that we can't call just any witness to help Aang's case. For obvious reasons."

"But that's why we're calling the only witness who knows that day better than anyone." Natasha added, surprising the crowd. The group stepped back as Katara and Natasha said at the same time, "We call upon, Avatar Kyoshi herself!"

The crowd started talking amongst themselves as Aang walked out of the temple wearing everything of Avatar Kyoshi's things. He wore her head dress, kimono, boots, her fans were placed in the waist band and his face had been painted. All that Aang was really missing was hair like Kyoshi's. The six took a seat on the bench and Sokka asked, "Do you really think that this'll work?"

"Well, she is Aang's past life." Katara said with a shrug. Natasha then said, "Maybe a connection could be made with Kyoshi through her things."

"Hmm. I do believe in the power of stuff." Sokka nodded as he thought about it. The other five looked at Sokka with dry looks before Natasha slapped him upside the head.

When nothing happened, Mayor Tong stood up and said, "Nothing is happening and I have reached a verdict."

"Wait, please. If you could wait just one more second." Katara pleaded to him. They looked to the dressed up Aang and she said, "I'm sure that Kyoshi will be here soon."

"Please, Mayor Tong." Thor asked. Mayor Tong sighed but said, "Fine, a moment more."

They all looked to see if Aang would be able to contact Kyoshi or something. But nothing happened and Aang looked down at the outfit. But then he looked at everyone with a shrug. The mayor then sighed before he got up and said, "Well, since she isn't coming, and I have made my decision." Stopping in front of Aang and said, "For the murder of Chin the Great, the court of Chin finds the Avatar-"

But before he could even cast the verdict, a gust of wind came over the cliff as a tornado completely covered up Aang. Everyone held on to something as the tornado continued to spin. The sky seemed to darken as an unearthly shadow was spread out over the area. When the tornado ended, standing in the place of Aang was Avatar Kyoshi herself. She raised her head, opened her eyes and her voice echoed when she said, "I killed Chin the Conqueror…"

The group looked in awe and shock at the news. Kyoshi then recounted of what went on during that time.

\_|_/

(Flashback)

"A horrible tyrant." Kyoshi described him from what she saw of his deeds. She remembered him earthbending innocent people away when he was upset. The man himself then looked to the horizon as he had plans. "Chin was expanding his army to all corners of the continent."

Chin's takeover expanded from a small island to the rest of the Earth Kingdom after some time of conquest. They lastly came to the peninsula where Kyoshi's home was. "When they came to the neck of the peninsula where we lived, he demanded our immediate surrender."

Chin, with his army behind him, stopped just before the could invade the land. Kyoshi met them to stop them from going any further. Chin stamped his foot to make his point. But when Kyoshi met with Chin, it turns out that their sizes were greatly different. "I warned him that I would not sit passively by while he took our home.

"But he did not back down." Chin assumed his stance and prepared to fight against Kyoshi. His foot stomped into the ground and left a familiar shape in the ground. Kyoshi removed one of her fans before opening it up and unleashing a blast of air at Chin and his army. The winds were strong enough to leave Chin in nothing but his hat, shoes and underwear. The army behind him gasped at this. Kyoshi then closed her eyes as she prepared herself. "On that day, we split from the mainland."

She opened her eyes and entered the Avatar State to be able to split her home from the rest of the Earth Kingdom. When her eyes stopped glowing, Kyoshi took out her other fan and opened them up before jumping and extended her right arm to the land on her left. A large fissure ran through the earth before connecting to the ocean. Then Kyoshi repeated the action with her left arm to the land on her right. The fissure grew longer by spreading to the other side. A large dust cloud had been raised from the earthbending as Kyoshi stood straight and closed her fans. Then jumping up, she plunged her closed fans into the earth to spread the fissure downward. Chin and his army watched as the fissure opened up between the two sides. Kyoshi then raised her fans and waved them around in circular motions before raising her arms up and causing a large wall of magma to rise out of the fissure. The wall of magma rose high into the air before falling back down into the fissure. Kyoshi then spun around before blasting a powerful gust of air. Chin covered his ears while some of the army was blown back. Seeing as they were no match against Kyoshi, the army started to flee for their lives. Kyoshi's continuous blast of air caused the new island to start moving away from the mainland. A large cloud of magma burned underneath the ocean on both sides and in the fissure as the new island continued to move away.

When the air no longer blew against him, Chin looked to see the island moving away very fast. He walked up to the edge of the cliff as it disappeared on the horizon. Chin then let out a frustrated scream that his conquest would never be completed. But as he kept screaming, the cliff underneath him gave way and fell into the sea. His fate was sealed when he splashed down into the water. And the rest was pretty much history.

(End of flashback)

Back in the present, Kyoshi finished up by saying, "I created Kyoshi Island so my people could be safe from invaders."

With her testimony done, Kyoshi closed her eyes, hung her head and the tornado formed around her once again, meaning that she was done. Everyone watched as the darkness receded back to the tornado. When it ended Aang, still wearing Kyoshi's clothing, was standing there again. Aang weakly groaned as he started to sway. Katara ran forward and stopped him from falling over. The four Avengers walked up to him with uneasy looks as he raised his head and asked, "So… what just happened exactly?"

"You kind of confessed." Katara said as she thought about what Kyoshi had told them. Then she offered, "Sorry about that."

"And with that…" Mayor Tong said as he rose back up on his feet. He pointed to Aang and said, "The court of Chin finds you, guilty."

The citizens cheered to this turn of events. Steve then asked, "And what happens now?"

"This, I must tell you." Mayor Tong said. Looking to the townsfolk he shouted, "Bring out the Wheel of Punishment!"

The crowd once again started cheering to this. All seven members of the group looked to each other as Momo chittered with unease and laid down and covered his eyes with his tail.

Back at the cave, Iroh was putting some stuff into a box when Zuko came back in. After a while of being alone with his thoughts, Zuko came to an uneasy conclusion. He took a deep breath before saying, "Uncle."

The older man looked back to see his nephew standing there and Zuko said, "I've thought a lot about what you said earlier."

"You did?" Iroh asked, feeling a little better. Turning his head away he nodded, "Good, good."

"And it's helped me realize something." His nephew said, making Iroh smile, thinking that Zuko might be finding the right path. But what Zuko said next caused his smile to fall, "We no longer have anything to gain by traveling together."

Iroh closed his eyes and wished it otherwise, but decided to respect his nephew's wishes. Though he didn't want to, Zuko felt it for the best, "I need to find my own way. I'm sorry."

A surprised Iroh didn't look back as he nodded. Looking down for a moment, Zuko wanted to say something to his uncle, but couldn't find the right words. Zuko then grabbed a pack and started to walk away from his uncle and their hideout. Though a little heartbroken by Zuko leaving, Iroh still wanted to look out for his nephew. He walked forward to give Zuko something to help him on his journey.

Zuko hadn't walked but a few steps when he heard his uncle shout, "Wait!"

Looking back, Zuko saw Iroh walking up with the ostrich-horse. It brayed as Iroh handed Zuko the reins. A grateful Zuko took them before jumping onto the ostrich-horse's back. But before he left, Zuko cast one last glance to Iroh before riding off. Iroh watched Zuko ride off before hanging his head in sadness. Suddenly a voice asked, "Always sad to see someone go isn't it?"

Iroh looked back to see a familiar face standing behind him. The man from the other town was leaning against a tree and he said, "Took me a little while to see where you guys were hiding out."

"Who are you?" Iroh asked, a little worried of who he was allied with. The man raised a hand and said, "Don't worry. I'm not working with the guys chasing you. I'm kind of one of the guys they're chasing."

"You are?" Iroh asked, a little surprised. The man stopped leaning against the tree and walked up to him. With a nod he said, "Don't worry about your nephew. I'll keep an eye on him."

With that said, the man started to walk after Zuko. Iroh then raised a hand and said, "Wait." When the man stopped, Iroh then asked, "Who are you exactly?"

"Well, my real name is Tony Stark." The man said with a grin. He opened up his tunic a little, surprising Iroh with a glowing device and said, "But some people call me Iron Man."

The sun was starting to set over the town of Chin as they got ready for the sentence. Back at the amp theatre of Chin, the citizens had brought down a large wheel and placed it next to Aang. Katara and the Avengers had returned by Sokka's side and watched. Mr. Lee walked up and said, "The accused will now spin the Wheel of Punishment to decide his sentence."

There were a few options displayed on the wheel; one was being burned alive, one was falling into a pit of spikes, another two showed of either getting eaten by a bear or a shark, one showed being boiled alive, a sixth showed sleeping on a nail bed, one showed being lashed and there was a community service option. Aang cast one glance to his friends and then said, "I said that I would face justice, so I will."

He walked up to the wheel and looked to Mr. Lee. The man only gave him a small smile but didn't offer any words for him. Aang grabbed a side of the wheel before spinning the wheel with all his might. The wheel spun really fast and a lot of options passed underneath the deciding arrow on top. Behind the group in the seats, the team could hear some of the citizens shout, "Come on, torture machine! Eaten by bears! Razor pit!"

"Community service! Please land on community service!" Katara shouted, hoping for the only good punishment on the wheel. All seven of Aang's friends present had looks of discomfort what Aang might be put through. Soon the wheel began to slow down and everyone watched to see where it would land. It was stopping on the one where one would be boiled alive. Mr. Lee winced and said, "Oh, it looks like it's going to be boiled in oil."

Another roar of wild cheers erupted from the crowd at the punishment. Aang's eye twitched at the sound of his sentence while the team all had horrified expressions on their faces. Unbeknownst to them all, a small explosive landed beside the temple before exploding. The temple was destroyed in the blast and everyone cringed from it. When everyone looked to the top of the amp theatre, the team gasped when they saw who it was. The Komodo rhino riders from the day before were able to get into the town. And this time they had a little more men; Hydra agents to be precise. The leader of the small army shouted down at them, "We've come to claim this village in the name of the Fire Lord and the Red Skull." Then he demanded, "Now, show me your leader so we may…"

The man with the curved spear rode down to Chin's statue before slicing through it. The blade was able to cleanly cut through it and the pieces fell to the ground. The leader then smirked and added, "Dethrone him."

A villager turned and pointed at Mayor Tong, "That's him over there!"

Mayor Tong quickly hid behind the Wheel of Punishment in fear. Aang looked to Mr. Lee and commented, "Not a lot of loyalty, is there?"

"Yeah, some people just don't have a backbone like they used to." Mr. Lee agreed. Mayor Tong then said, "Avatar Aang, please do something!"

"You know, I'd really love to." Aang said. But he didn't make a move and reminded the mayor, "But I'm supposed to be boiled in oil."

"Just this once, sir," Mr. Lee suggested, "perhaps the punishment can be changed."

"You're right." Mayor Tong said. Then turning the wheel he said, "Okay, it's on community service now." Then pointing to the small army he said, "Now, you and Thor and your other friends, please, get rid of those rhinos."

Aang, Thor, Steve, Natasha, Katara, Sokka and Bruce all smirked to the change of events and prepared for battle. Aang dashed forward before jumping up and out of Kyoshi's kimono and kicked off her boots. Then rushing towards the man with the curved spear and the man rushed forward to attack. But before the man with the curved spear could even try to swing his weapon, he yelped when Thor yanked him off his mount and threw him into the destroyed statue's pedestal.

The civilians screamed as the Hydra soldiers pointed their weapons at them, but Bruce quickly transformed into the Hulk and leapt up at them. The soldiers moved out of the way when he came down. Captain America quickly put on his helmet before engaging the man with the ball and chain weapon.

The curved spear's master's mount continued charging towards the Wheel of Punishment while the mayor continued to hide. But before he could be impaled or not, Thor was able to grab him and pull him out of the way before getting Mr. Lee out of the way as well. The Komodo rhino's horns went right through the wheel, and all three gave a sigh. Mayor Tong nodded his thanks and said, "I thank you and your fellow Avengers, mighty Thor."

"Don't thank us yet." Thor said as he charged into the battle. Natasha was able to knock a few Hydra soldiers down with a kick while Sokka and Katara ducked under the archer's flaming arrows. The leader saw how his men were losing and then ordered, "Rough Rhinos and Hydra soldiers, to the town!"

The citizens of Chin started screaming in terror as they were either shot at by Hydra soldiers, the archer or balls of fire from the leader. The fires quickly spread from either arrows or firebending. The man with the explosives rode through the town and took a few out before igniting them and tossing them to the side. They landed in a cart of hay before detonating. The man with the ball and chain was able to snag a few posts before bringing the awnings down.

He let loose a scream as he spun his weapon above his head. But he stopped when Katara ran in front of him before throwing his weapon. Katara created a barrier of ice in front of her and reflected the weapon back at him. The weapon wrapped itself around him and he struggled to get out before looking to her with a worried look. Katara then used a water whip to make the Komodo rhino rush off.

Captain America punched a Hydra soldier in the face before spinning and kicking another in the head. Seeing five ahead of him, Cap threw his shield forward and it bounced off each of them before embedding itself into a wall. The super soldier looked back to see that a few soldiers had snuck up on him from behind and pointed their weapons at him. He yelped when he felt a few hands yank him out of the way when the fired. The Hydra soldiers looked a little confused before something bashed against the back of their heads. Each one of the enemy soldiers groaned as they fell on their faces. Cap looked behind him and saw the prisoners standing behind him. Arching a brow he asked, "How did you guys get out?"

"Busted down the wooden door and came to help." The man with the snake tattoos said and Cap nodded in understanding.

Elsewhere in the town, Hulk continued to charge and swat any Hydra soldier he could find away. Some bullets hit the gamma beast from behind and he turned with a snarl at those who shot him. The Hydra soldiers realized their mistake before turning and running off screaming like girls. Hulk roared and gave chase to them.

Sokka came down one street and turned to see that he had the guy with explosives on one side and the archer on the other. A plan coming to mind, Sokka extended the monocle on his hat to reflect the setting sun at the archer. The glare caught the archer in the eye and he turned to shoot at Sokka while still blinded. Sokka gasped as he ducked but his hat got caught by the arrows. But in turn they were sent and landed against the pyrotechnics' bag of explosives. Sokka smiled from this before ducking down.

The pyrotechnic attempted to throw the burning bag away, but it landed on the roof of a building and he ended up getting caught in the blast. The blast destroyed a few buildings and sent a pack flying out. It landed at Sokka's feet and when he looked down he became happy when he saw, "Boomerang!" Picking up his beloved boomerang he said, "You do always come back!"

But he gasped when he turned and saw the archer about to take another shot. Acting fast, Sokka whipped out his dragon pipe and threw it at the archer. The pipe landed mouth first on the burning flame and doused it, surprising the archer. Suddenly, a rock hit him in the head from behind and knocked him out. With him knocked out, Katara ran up and cut through the straps of the saddle. The archer's unconscious form fell to the ground, but his foot was caught in the saddle. Another water whip made the mount run off and drag the unconscious archer along.

Thor leapt from roof to roof when he came across a small battalion of Hydra soldiers. Jumping down from the roof, Thor landed behind the group of soldiers before flinging Mjolnir forward and it knocked into a few Hydra soldiers and made them all turn to the Asgardian. But when Thor moved a little to his left, he stuck his hand out and Mjolnir came flying back. All the soldiers cried out when the hammer knocked them down and turned to Thor's hand. One Hydra soldier had snuck up behind Thor and whacked him in the back of the head with a wooden board. Though it stung him a little, the board broke in two and Thor looked back at the soldier with a glare. But before he could fight the soldier, they both heard some townsfolk cry out, "He tried to hurt Thor!"

They all cried out before rushing up to the Hydra soldier and pulled him to the ground. Thor watched as the townsfolk beat on the soldier with punches and kicks. The Hydra soldier screamed when the all picked him up and carried him away. Thor then said, "Thank you, my friends."

Elsewhere, Aang ran down another street and came face to face with the leader of the Rough Rhinos and a few leftover Hydra soldiers. They raised their weapons and waited for their leader's signal. Aang opened the fans and put them behind his back. The Rough Rhino leader made a circular motion with his arms and brought a flame over his fingers. He then ordered, "Charge!"

He and the Hydra soldier charged forward with weapons and flames raised. Aang charged forward as well. The Rough Rhino leader maneuvered to where the flames on his hands were behind him and he prepared to strike. The Hydra soldiers were quick to stop and open fire on the Avatar while keeping their shots off of their leader. Aang jumped over the shots and onto a wall before rebounding towards them. The leader raised both fists into the air while Aang used a blast of air from the fans to shield himself from the fire. The Airbender landed behind the Hydra soldiers as the fans and headdress fell to the ground. The Hydra soldiers and the Rough Rhino rider turned to him. One Hydra soldier tried to rush and hit Aang with the butt of his gun, but the Airbender was able to duck under the swing before using a blast of air from his foot to send the soldier flying. Aang then twisted his body before forming an Air Scooter underneath him and charging forward. The Hydra soldiers and the Firebender fired a few shots at him. Aang was able to dodge most of the shots, but a Hydra soldier was able to get a wire around the Airbender. Aang yelped as he was pulled to the ground and looked up with a gasp as the Hydra soldiers pointed their weapons at him.

But he didn't have to worry as a roar caused everyone to look up. They saw the Hulk charging down the street. The Hydra soldiers all opened fire on the Hulk when he stopped before bringing his hands together and unleashed a blast from his clap. The clap knocked the soldiers down while the Rough Rhino's rider's mount was able to stand strong. Hulk was about to engage, but Aang stood up and held up a hand, telling the Hulk that this was Aang's fight. The Hulk seemed to understand and stayed back. Aang and the rider looked to each other before making one last charge at each other. The Firebender sent a huge blast of fire at him, but Aang jumped up and used his airbending as a shield to go right through the fire. He landed a kick that knocked the Rough Rhino rider off his mount. It knocked the man into a few crates.

The Hulk walked up to Aang and the Airbender turned to the gamma beast. Aang then said, "You okay?"

"Hm." Hulk nodded before he took a deep breath and was able to calm himself. The Hulk groaned as he started to transform back into Bruce and the scientist took his place again. Bruce wobbled a bit but Aang was quick to help him stay steady. Aang then asked, "Man, you look like I do when I come out of the Avatar State."

"Sometimes I really feel like it too." Bruce said with a chuckle.

It was a little while when they rounded up the enemy soldiers. When all was said and done, Mayor Tong invited the group to a new festival. The group now stood before a much more grateful town as Tong said, "From now on, we will celebrate a new holiday. And it shall be called Avenging Avatar Day." He then said with a smile, "And it is in honor of the day that these heroes saved our town from the Rough Rhino invasion.

"Furthermore," Mayor Tong said as he looked to the prisoners who had helped in the fight, "for your brave assistance in helping protect our town, I grant you all pardons. You are all members of the town of Chin."

The newly freed prisoners bowed their heads in gratitude. Everyone on the team had grins on their faces in joy of them being able to bring the Avatar back into the town's good graces. Sokka looked down at the bowl in his hands and asked, "What is this?"

"It's our new festival food." Mayor Tong happily said. He sounded proud when he said, "Un-fried dough." Then turning to the citizens he said, "May we eat it and be reminded of how, on this day, that the Avatar was not boiled in oil."

Another round of cheering came from the crowd while the team had looked into their bowls. They all looked uncertain as they looked to each other. They took one out and watched as a little dough doll with eyes and a blue arrow on it started to stretch. But Thor, Steve and Bruce started eating theirs. Katara then put on a smile and said, "Happy Avatar Day, everyone."

"Yeah, hurray." Natasha said as they all started eating. Though they had mixed feelings about the dough, they continued to eat it. Natasha slightly cringed from the taste of the raw dough while Aang put one in his mouth and it stretched a little when he didn't eat it. But he then put it in his mouth and continued to eat. Sokka looked at his before looking to his friends and said, "This is by far the strangest town that we've ever been to."

But he ate his any way as the rest of the group continued to eat.

Elsewhere at a Fire Nation fortress, an Imperial Firebender walked through the halls before coming up on the central chamber. Opening the doors he walked up to the throne where Princess Azula sat. Her entourage of friends and Hydra agents stood by her side as she ordered, "Report."

"We've lost touch with the Rough Rhinos, your majesty." The Imperial Firebender reported. Azula motioned to Rumlow and he asked, "And the Hydra soldiers?"

"More than likely dead either by the enemy's hands or by the implants." He told them. Azula narrowed her eyes and said, "I'm sure they knew which choice to make.

"Leave us." Azula ordered the Firebender. He nodded before walking out of the room. Azula leaned forward and said, "The Rough Rhinos being captured is a blow to the Fire Nation, but they won't stay prisoner long if they're still alive."

"And in the meantime, we have no idea where Blonsky went." Ty-Lee said. Everyone in the room found it odd that he had disappeared. Scarlet Widow then questioned, "Where did he say he went?"

"All he told me was that he was going to find some entertainment." Azula said with a shrug. With a chuckle she said, "But even he knows that he won't get far with a face like that."

"True enough." Rumlow said.

The next morning at the town of Chin, the group got ready to leave. The citizens were more than willing to give Bruce some new clothes. The mayor and Mr. Lee met with them as they loaded a few supplies onto Appa. Aang walked over and said, "Thank you for your help."

"And to you as well." Mayor Tong said. Mr. Lee then said to Bruce, "You can keep that book. It'll probably come in handy for ya."

"Thanks." Bruce said as he put it with their stuff. Mayor Tong then said, "Avatar Aang. While the town may have its reservations about Avatar Kyoshi, perhaps we should not have put so much heat against you or Roku. After all, we cannot condone the actions of all Avatars for the actions of one."

"I guess that's fair." Aang nodded. The mayor then turned to Thor and said, "Farewell, Sir Thor. May you come and visit again. You are welcome anytime."

"Thank you, Mayor Tong." Thor said before they all climbed into the saddle. The group waved goodbye before Sokka flicked the reins and said, "Yip-yip."

Appa groaned as he took off into the air. From his spot, Steve then said, "Well, this little adventure turned out pretty well."

"Yeah." Katara agreed. Gesturing to the town she said, "Chin got to see their hero again."

"They also got to see the different side of the Avatar." Thor put in. Sokka then said from Appa's head, "I got my boomerang back."

"And who knows, maybe we'll find another one of your friends soon." Aang said with a positive attitude. Bruce shrugged and said, "Here's to hoping."

The group continued to fly on to their next adventure.

Author's Note: Hope there were enough funny parts and awesome plot twists for you. And yes, I did give you another Avenger. And I'll be giving you the last one much sooner than you think. I wanted to make this the place where Thor had landed after I thought about it, and since Thor had a good relation with the town, I thought to make the mayor less of a jerk than in the show. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
