Hey there everyone! This is the real 39th chapter of this fic.
I really have anything to add to the reasons I explained before as for why I haven't updated, the only thing is that my exmas have started too and that has left me with less time to end this chapter. I'm really glad that you understand my reasons and thank you all for the support you gave me, you're all the best!
Now let's start with the typical, TIME WITH REVIEWS (if you reviewd both "chapters" I'll fuse them in one anser)!

Now, before the chapter, it's time for a small and SHORT message from the awesome editor LC5!
YOOOOOOOOOOOO, LexClone5 here with some more updates, currently, as of this writing, it is Saturday, June 18, and my friend and I are readying our final preparations for our new YouTube series "Nintendo Gauntlet Gaming." in NGG, we will be playing nothing but Nintendo games on our channel, and we will be trying to beat every single game that we play on there. We have had practice sessions these past two weeks, and, not this weekend, (Because my TV is being fixed right now ;-;) but next weekend, we will be doing our first official game session. I encourage that you check out and subscribe to the channel, where you will get to hear my GLORIOUS VOICE (CAUTION: Voice is not actually glorious). It's like 2am here in Cali, I really should be asleep, but the call to skill hunting in Fire Emblem is too strong. Seriously, I have made the almighty "One-Shot Shiro" on here.
In other LC5 related news, between chapters (which really isn't a difficult thing to do, since these chapters have become far and few between as of late), I started watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, amazing anime, I highly recommend that you watch it, then catch up to the current spot in Part 4, then read the manga, as the community will not relent about to people.
...And it literally just occured to me that I was only 17 when I started editing this series, now I'm 19 years old, it's gonna hit the 2 year mark that I would have started working here soon, if it hasn't already. And I'm not entirely sure if anybody even actually reads these things that I put out, I know a couple people have commented every now and then, but if anybody ever gets any thoughts about what's going to happen after this series ends, because it will relatively soon, judging on the fact that we are well into the Final Act. Just know that I'm not going anywhere, wherever Rubyspe decides to go after this, you can bet your life savings that I'll be right there with him, giving you these painfully long forewords that I literally make up as I go along (really, it was supposed to end at the first announcement, I'm stalling at this point, I really just don't wanna go to bed).
I wanna play Overwatch, but my TV's being fixed ;-;. Okay, I'm done stalling.
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A NON-PROFIT, FANMADE FANFICTION, POKEMON IS OWNED BY NINTENDO, GAMEFREAK, THE POKEMON COMPANY, AND SATOSHI TAJIRI, PLEASE SUPPORT THE OFFICIAL SERIES.
P.S.: SUN AND MOON HYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE!
Read and ENJOY!
Chapter 39: A duty to be done
Red's POV
-The reason why I'm like this is because of Marchie- he said surprising the Pyramid trio- but it's not only him. The other one, that is much more frightening is Kyogre-he stopped there, letting the news sink in our minds before speaking again-Yeah, Kyogre is out.
(20 minutes earlier)
-Let's begin round two then- he said smirking.
After those words the battle continued. I was able to beat his Armaldo again using Gyara, while I had to use Poli to take out his Sharpedo. He then sent out his Aggron again and Poli and the steel type KO'd each other. His Camerupt was then against Gyara, who had a very hard time beating it.
Meanwhile I had Saur and Lax using Synthesis and Rest while Aero was protecting them from Alakazam. Poli and Gyara were quite hurt after the battle and sadly, I didn't have a way to heal them without using my remaining potions, which after Pika's and Aero's treatment before were only 5 left.
Right now the battle was between his Alakazam against Lax and it was a interesting one. If my condition had been another one, I might be even call it a fun battle. The Psychic's special attacks were really powerful, but my voluptuous pokemon had enough defense to be able to withstand the attacks and counter with one of its own.
-Fire Punch Alakazam!
-Mega Punch it!
-Teleport and then Psychic!
-Break through it with Strength!
-Now Teleport again and use Thunder Punch!
-Harden yourself!- I said and my pokemon hardened his body to endure better the incoming attack. The punch was strong, but after colliding with a hard surface like my pokemon's, the attacker was destabilized, and I took advantage of it- Mega Kick!
The kick was so strong that made me wonder what would've happened if I had been able to use the Belly drum maneuver as before. The problem with that is that Marchie was anticipating it and as soon as I tried it, he disabled it.
Splash!
Even that the power was so great that his pokemon ended up falling in the sea. It wasn't a pokemon that could breath under it so sooner or later it should resurface, but something was wrong, his smirk widened.
-Lax use …- I said, but he interrupted my speech, my pokemon still heard me, though.
-Ineffective- said Marchie when my pokemon started glowing blue and began floating in front of my eyes- now! Double Punch!
With that his Alakazam appeared on top of my pokemon with one fist crackling with electricity and the other ablaze. He smashed them both on my pokemon with a devastating power. When my pokemon collided with the steel battlefield the sound resonated everywhere and the vibrations made me go down again.
-You got a good pokemon there, but it's out- he ventured when his pokemon landed next to in front of mine looking at me confidently- send out another one.
-Are you sure of that?- I asked then when a shadow obscured all the psychic's type body. "Thanks for the idea, Norman"- Lax, finish him with Reversal!
And with just like that my pokemon delivered the strongest physical attack with both hands that I've ever seen, soon knocking the pokemon out.
-You told it to use Endure, didn't you?- he asked.
-Come here and use Rest Lax- I commanded before grabbing Aero's pokeball- you deserve it.
-My dear Red, you were always promising- he said- I have quite the eye at being able to see someone's talent and I definitely saw yours. Ruby was better, because he had a lot more experience than you back then, but right now… who knows who would be the winner between the two of you.
-Don't you dare talk about him!- I growled- It was you who killed him and then you made one of your grunts impersonate him to destroy our moral!
-Maybe I did it- he said- but you're still my creation, the nine of you. I was your first one to really train you.
-Our first coach was him!-I said anger flowing along my words.
-Camerupt get out there again!- and for the third time his camel like pokemon was sent out the field and I smirked.
-This will be your tenth loss- I said- while only one of mine is out.
-Are you trying to say that you're on the lead?- he laughed at me- don't make me laugh, I can heal my pokemon as many times as I desire, while your pokemon are more tired by the minute. When I take out your Snorlax and Venusaur you won't be able to heal any other pokemon in your state. It's my win.
-Let's see about that-I smirked- Wing attack Aero!
-Cover the field with Smokescreen! Then use Eruption!
-Use Screech to stop him from attacking- I commanded- now fly over me and do your thing!
The time his pokemon used to recover from the ear splitting sound was enough, just enough luckily.
-Take out the smoke!- I commanded and seconds away my the smoke scampered away.
-It was good to do teach him Whirlwind- he said.
-I didn't!- I said-Wing attack!
-Eruption!- he said smirking.
What he didn't know is that what blew the smoke away was not a Whirlwind, it was himself flying at the great speed that three Agility attacks provided, now he was way too fast for him. So fast that he was able to dodge all the burning boulders and strike twice before retreating to my side.
-So you boosted your pokemon's speed, well that was good- he said- my Camerupt will never be able to keep up with it, but it will do something else.
-Aerial ace!
I didn't even let him finish before attacking again, I had wasted enough time and I needed to accomplish my goal once and for all. What happened is while his pokemon couldn't react at mine's speed he lasted a lot more than I had anticipated. After an Ancientpower that did nearly to no effect even being a neutral type hit I understood that while mine used Agility his pokemon was using Amnesia. At the end, his pokemon fell again, but all the speed my pokemon had gained with Agility had transformed into fatigue. That was a good plan from his part, but not even he can anticipate so far away.
-Face it, you've lost- I told him, a lie, but it was necessary.
-I've lost you say?- he said returning his pokemon to his pokeball- I still have all my pokemon ready to fight, while you only have five. And I can heal them as many times as I want.
-You can say that, but it's not the truth- I said- I've been by Yellow's side long enough and I've seen her train her powers a lot so I'm quite acquainted with them. Even after all her training sessions, she is unable to heal more than 18 pokemon before resting for a long time.
-If you know how to count, this- he said signaling his pokeball- is only the tenth one you've beaten and, therefore, healed.
-I know- I said- but I've noticed that your pokemon aren't as lively at the beginning either- this wasn't a lie. It happened with Yellow too.
-Nonsense- he said- It's been years since I perfected it. All my pokemon are in perfect health right now.
-Yeah, but are you?- I asked as a yellow translucid blur attacked his right arm with his shinning tail.
-What the hell?- he asked in pain when he saw the blur come to me and fuse with the Pikachu on my shoulder- That was Substitute!
-Yeah, it's been coming below the water since the smoke cleared- I said, I didn't like causing physical damage to a person, even if it was him.
From his arm, a long red gash was clearly visible and dripping a thin line of blood that fell as droplets to the floor below him. I knew it hurt him, but I also knew that it wouldn't last. As I expected he slowly put his hand over the gash and it glowed faintly until the wound closed by itself. I could stop him, but I didn't need to. My work was almost done.
When he finished treating his wound, he was sweating a little and his breath wasn't as steady as before. He was about to speak then, but I interrupted him.
-Yeah, I knew you could heal humans and yourself- I said- I know almost everything about your powers and I know that healing a person is much more tiring than healing a pokemon.
-Then you wasted your Pikachu's surprise attack on purpose?- he asked finally calming down.
-Who said anything about wasting any attack?- I said getting up with a lot of difficulty- I made you waste energy, that's all I wanted.
-Waste my energy? I still have enough to heal the same amount of pokemon I have healed so far- he said- I've perfected this power to limits neither you nor Yellow can't still imagine.
-That's true, maybe- I answered- but then what? What about the card up your sleeve? Who's going to control it?
-What do you mean?
-C'mon even if you've got the Viridian powers you can't win against the 9 of us- I reasoned- for you to be so confident you've got to have something big in store. So yeah, I'll repeat it more clearly if you want. If you heal any more of your pokemon, who will control Kyogre?
His face was strange then, on one hand, he seemed surprised. On the other though, he seemed pleased. He just took a dark blue sphere from his right pocket. It had a faint glow, but then some red lines appeared on it. For the second time today I was scared, very scared.
-You're right- he said smirking and rolling the sphere in his hand- I don't know how you even know about this legend, but you are right. I need a lot of power to control it and while I still have a lot left, I can't waste anymore. I planned on using it anyways, but I thought that I would have to do it much later on. Not at the beginning of our battle.
-The beginning? We've been battling for almost three hours here- he was mocking us.
-Maybe for you this is the final battle, the climax, Red- he said manically- but for me… this is just the beginning of a new era. One in which I'll rule the world- he then just put his left wrist in front of his voice- Malcolm? Yeah it's time… release Kyogre!
Suddenly the surface we were standing onto started shaking. I fell down immediately again and after some seconds it stopped. The sea, that was quite calm before became full of waves. I don't know why, but something made me focus on our right where in the dark waters appeared an even darker shadow of a great creature.
-It has finally come, Red- he said- the time that marks the beginning of that new era. My era. The era when I'll be the ruler of the world. The ending of the project that I've been working for as long as I remember and the one you and your friends delayed 5 years ago. And in the center of it, as the kingpin of it, this marvelous monster. Let me present you Kyogre, the king of the seas!
And just like that both in the blue sphere and the silhouette in the ocean appeared some red lines. The lines drew some strange shapes on top of it, but it wasn't that what got my attention. As soon as it happened, the rain that was falling just above the monster increased a lot, not only that, but after that it started expanding covering all the area in a heavy rain. After this the creature surfaced.
It was a huge whale like pokemon that was blue on the top and had a white colored torso. The pokemon lateral fins ended in a hand shape and the dorsal and its tail fin were enormous. The pokemon mouth was covered in razor teeth and the fierce eyes it possessed told everything about its nature. The fact that the lines all over his back and lateral fins didn't stop glowing in the partial darkness gave that pokemon an almost demonic state. To say it simply, I was intimidated by it, could even feel myself shaking.
-I see you're scared- he said mocking surprise- Well, you should be, this monster is able to control the sea at its will. The same way I'm able to control it.
Regaining my cool I took out my Pokedex and pointed it to the monster in the sea. The fierceness in its eyes was still vivid in my mind, but I tried to push it away and focus on the item in my hands. To my surprise only two things appeared in the screen.
"Name: Kyogre
Type: Water"
The other spaces for the information were blank, like it couldn't measure or gather any information of it.
-Surprised? This device is useful for the normal pokemon… but not for this monster- he said- You've got no idea of the power that Kyogre possesses.
"You've got no idea of the actual size of the mess we are in right now".
Those had been the words Ruby had used to warn us. I tried to relax then and I smiled. The Pokedex had just given me one useful information, the pokemon's type. That meant that I had to find its true power for myself. I looked at my side and I saw that under the rain Saur's Synthesis wasn't working much, but I also saw that it was almost a 100% recovered from his previous fights.
-Saur, come here- I commanded- Pika, you too.
-Going for the type advantage kind of battle, huh?- he said hoping on the monster's back.
-You're getting way too cocky, human- was the voice that resonated in my head. It was fierce and angry.
-I'm your master right now, Kyogre- said Marchie when the blue sphere glowed- I'm in control now, and you'll obey me. Even if you don't want to.
-That might be the truth- conceded the monster- for now…
I didn't let him focus on the matter at hand and using the distraction to my favor I commanded Pika to start charging electric energy while Saur attacked with his Leech Seed attack. The second attack bounced on the pokemon no being able to penetrate it's skin, much to my annoyance, but I understood something from this. With this monster, or you go big, or you better go home.
-Seems that there's no reason to postpone it- I sighed- Saur prepare yourself.
-Nothing you'll try will be enough to beat us Red, not even your superattacks.
-Why don't we test it then?- I tried to sound confident- Saur use your strongest card, Frenzy Plant!
With that the enormous beam shone in the darkness that surrounded us when being directed towards the monster we had as an enemy. At first both pokemon and controller didn't even move, but with a simple command the monster shot an monstrous water stream that collided with my attack. At first the beams tried to overpower the other, but finally both attacks cancelled the other. My attack wasn't over though.
-Your turn Pika!
With that my Pikachu unleashed all the electricity that had accumulated and with all the clouds that were charged with electricity surrounding us made the Thunder attack was all the more magnificent. When the light vanished and I was able to contemplate the scene again I was amazed.
The pokemon was still like nothing had happened. Not even that, but it looked more terrifying than ever. When I looked at my Pokedex though, my fear turned into terror. Something had appeared at the bottom of the screen inside the column where the attacks that the pokemon know can be seen. The attack that it had used to cancel my most powerful attack had been nothing more than a simple… Water Gun. That was all the power that it took him to repel my supereffective attack.
-Don't you see it yet?- he said the when the pokemon rose one of his hand-shaped fins- I'll now show you the real power of this pokemon- Do your thing Kyogre.
- I don't really appreciate a mere and simple human to call me like that- was the pokemon's grumbling, but nonetheless the fins came down splashing on the water.
I then returned Pika, Saur and Lax… those were the only things I was able to do before the giant wave that the pokemon had created collided with me and sank me into the dark, cold ocean.
Present time
-It's just like Rub said Gold…- I told him looking around towards the amount of people that would fight by my side trying to form a plan- We didn't imagine the size of the mess we're in.
Norman's POV
-It's on our right now- said Erika and we turned towards said direction.
Inside the North building everything was so quiet. I knew that they had a lot of grunts guarding it, but so far, we weren't able to find anyone. This building wasn't so great as the central one, in fact is was the second smallest one, but the technology inside it could hardly be priced.
-This is really weird- I said and she nodded.
-I had assumed that they would've prepared some kind of trap, but so far nothing has happened.
-We are still quite far from the recovery area…- I said- we still are 3 levels away from it.
-We better keep descending then- she reasoned and I nodded.
Yes, it's true. The North building is small if you only take into account what can be seen in the surface. Only two levels are visible, but the other 6 are underneath the surface. This causes that the conditions and the temperature are more easily controlled and maintained, which is very beneficial to the machines operating there. Right now we only were running in the second one.
We descended to the third when we heard movement. So far we had passed the least important areas for us, only the computational section in the level -1 and the pokeball lab on the -2. This one though held more importance. In this level the object of study and development were the objects and items that boosted the pokemon characteristics. Looking at the shelves you could easily notice that it was completely empty, and I had the feeling that all these objects were being used by the majority of our enemies right now.
It was then when I saw something from the corner of my eye. I had to act quickly.
-Vigoroth use Protect!- I commanded and soon enough we were covered by a green-blue barrier.
The attack had come from two different directions, clearly being a Pin missile attack. When I tried to locate the attacked though, the only thing I saw was a shadow descending to the lower level again. I quickly retracted my still paralyzed pokemon.
-I think I spoke too early- she said.
-It was just a matter of time, but something is off- I said.
-We have to keep advancing though- Erika said- we can't waste any more time.
-Right, but the lower levels will be way more crowded- I said-The next level is where the Potions and healing items are researched, while in the fifth what is studied are the medical equipment that can be found at pokemon centers. In that one the different healing procedures are designed too.
-In other words, our final goal is to arrive and control level -5 were we'll be able to heal our allies pokemon- she reasoned.
-No, we'll control the whole building- I said- we'll heal our pokemon and we'll go out while the officers control this building. We can't forget that the real enemy is not here, is inside the main building. It's true that we might not be the first ones to go, but the higher ranks of our enemies are inside it. We have to end this as soon as possible.
-It's been a race against time since the beginning- she commented.
-It's true, but it's time to speed it up-I said- Let's go.
With that I sent out my Linoone and she sent out her Jumpluff. I didn't bother hiding the fact that we were descending since they already knew that. This building had lots of cameras that monitored every corner, the commanding area being in the lowest level. The element of surprise was something that we had already used and without it, it made sneaking in much more difficult.
The thing that made me doubt was why just one grunt attacked us before. I know that they aren't foolish enough to think that they would win with it, so that opened a lot of possibilities. Deciding to keep those thoughts at bay for the moment I told my pokemon to use Odor Sleuth to analyze the area and providing him a way to know how many opponents we were fighting.
-You know what to do Jumpluff- said my companion by my side and the pokemon nodded visibly.
After that said pokemon started to gather a rather huge amount of an orange powder. After gathering it, he stopped concentrating it and stepped into the little orange powder. With that the 3 cotton-like spores on its arms and head gained a strong orange color.
-Are you going to come out or not?-asked a voice from the room we were just out of I just asked her to remain hidden.
-So you were observing me- I said entering the room, which I suddenly found full of enemies.
-We were observing the both of you- he said, I could very well see the Silver belts signaling his rank.
-No pint hiding any longer- said Erika getting out next to me- What are you going to do?
As she said this she took out one pokeball in each hand while her Jumpluff floated in front of her. I too took two pokeballs out, being both of my Vigoroths while Linoone also positioned in front of me.
-I would suggest you to surrender, you are only two and we are way more- he said signaling around, but I also knew that the ones inside wasn't only the 8 we had in front of us.
-But you also know that we won't do it, don't you?- I asked then and I saw him grin.
-Of course not-he said sending two pokemon outside, a Forretress along with a Machamp.
The other seven grunts also took our two of his pokemon. Aside from their leader their choices were mostly little pokemon that packed a lot of power such as Heracross, Swallots, a Marowak, two Starmies and even a Raichu… To sum up, we were easily surrounded by them. It was good that this was just what we were expecting.
-Jumpluff, use Take Down on Heracross-commanded Erika- Then use Synthesis non-stop!
-Vigoroth, use your Fury Swipes, Linoone use Mud Slap on Raichu-I commanded then.
It was soon, maybe foolish to try to fight so many people in such a small space, but it worked well as a surprise attack. They expected us to go on the defensive while looking for an opening with our teamwork, but we didn't do that. What was more surprising for them was to see our pokemon directly attacking their front lines.
Their counterattack was quite brutal too, since they trapped our pokemon inside and delivered powerful attacks on them hurting some of them really badly. It was Jumpluff the one that received the most damage, but the use of Synthesis helped keeping his consciousness before falling in the 10 attacks that it received. And even though that, Erika was smirking.
Why? The reason is simple, with every hit her pokemon received orange spores flew around surrounding our enemies and, of course effectively paralyzing them. That made things equal because even if they were more, we could keep up with them. My Pokemon had been paralyzed too while fighting, but thanks to their Façade attack they had the advantage on their side. Or… that's what we had expected to happen, but it didn't.
Nope it didn't end that way since all of their pokemon had been given a Full Heal that cured and prevented any status damage that would occur in a short period of time. That prevented them from being Paralyzed and, therefore, the advantage was clearly in their side. Even though that our remaining pokemon gave one hell of a fight defeating almost every pokemon that those 8 people threw at us. It wasn't until 8 other grunts entered the fight that both Erika and me, were finally captured by the Organization.
Ruby's POV
-Can you keep going Ditty?- I asked the transformed pokemon below me.
The pokemon didn't nod or make a sound, it just sped up for a moment demonstrating that it could still go faster. I looked at it intently and even its efforts, I could see that it was getting tired by the moment.
First with the rain it was difficult for it to fly and while now we were in an area where the rain had stopped, the temperature was rising rapidly also helping my pokemon at getting more and more tired.
-Stop using Extremespeed and use the inertia to keep yourself in the air- I commanded and even if he made a sound of disappointment, the proud pokemon complied- I know you still can go on, but we still have a lot of things to do. And we better be ready when it happens.
This time the sound didn't seem as disappointed as before, but not quite happy either. We had been flying for more than 20 minutes and we hadn't seen anything to rare. Below us a huge amount of cars was leaving the city as far as it could and the vehicles that were going in the opposite direction were directed backwards using the parallel driveways and secondary roads in order to protect them from entering a dangerous area. An area where a war was happening.
Gliding for some more minutes while the Ditto recovered some of its strength helped me see that we were approaching our destination, and fast. The clouds in the sky were soon left behind and we entered in an area that was almost on fire. The sun was shining brightly and the temperature was rising more and more. It was then that a strange sensation travelled through my body.
I didn't know what it was, but for a single moment everything around me was blood red, only to be the same as before after I blinked. I was still thinking about what the hell had this been when I noticed the floor below me shake. As we were flying we didn't feel it, but I could see the trees below me shaking furiously under the blinding sun. Looking just in front of me, I was finally able to the most probable cause of the sensation, the shaking of the earth and the burning sunlight... Groudon.
I had never seen it in real life, of course, but it was easy to realize who was the beast that was creating the tremors with each step and making the sunlight be so powerful. The monster was huge, red and powerful. I could notice that as soon as I saw that he send an enormous fireball out of his mouth and directed to a small lake that was just between the two of us. The water evaporated as soon as the attack collided and the crater it created was one to be impressed at.
Just below me the empty cars extended for hundreds, their owners escaping from the monster and probably saving their lives rather than trying to save their belongings. Crystal had been right, looking at it I got the feeling that I was looking at a superior creature, one that I held no comparison too. But that wasn't the reality, as ironic as it was. I, the one that was currently intimidated by the creature, was the same that had the power to control it. As Sapphire said back when I told her the story, this seemed more of a fairy tale than anything else.
-Ditty, don't use Extremspeed, but raise your altitude again- I commanded.
We were flying high, but I first wanted to approach him from above in order to study him a little before. I didn't have the time to do so, since just then he stomped and a small stream of lava appeared at my left. It was small at first, but the terrain that surrounded was being covered in cracks that would allow the stream to be much larger and dangerous. I wouldn't really be affected by it, but the terrain made a slope towards where the people were escaping too.
- Ditty use Ancient Power just in the middle of the stream- I commanded before sending my mermaid pokemon into the air- Now Mimi use Blizzard to cool off the area!
The first attack was able to obstruct the stream completely while the Blizzard touched the area. The ice melted soon, but the amount of it caused that the time it took to melt was long enough to cool the almost incandescent rocks. I returned Mimi before she even got close to the ground, then a Water type could dehydrate in such a hot weather, even more if the one that caused it was the earth titan.
After that the sensation became stronger, like a constant pressure in my head. I tried to look around, but for a single moment all I saw was red. When I blinked again had to grab Ditty with more force since I was starting to lose my balance on top of the flying pokemon.
-Ditty, descend to the ground…- I said opening my bag and getting that out of it.
As I landed, just a hundred meters from the advancing monster, I positioned the device in front of me and I turned it on. The device was one of the most precious items in the world, one that people would battle with and without pokemon to have in their possession. The PokeDex.
Directing the device towards the monster in front of me I some information appeared.
"Name: Groudon
Description: -
Attacks:- "
So that was the only thing that the PokeDex got about it, well good enough for a start. I smirked.
-Seems like I finally meet you… Groudon- I said for myself.
When I said that though, something strange happened. The monster that was advancing without any care, not even noticing me, stopped their steps and looked around frantically. It was when it laid eyes on me that he advanced again, towards myself this time. I just stopped there, for a moment returning the borrowed pokemon in order to let it rest for a little while.
As I looked at the magnificent beast approaching me I could really feel the tremors on the earth that the monster occasioned. Even that, something was off because these tremors were significantly weaker than before. The sun was still shining brightly making it very difficult not to take off my jacket. I was sure I was sweating inside it, but even if that was a horrible thing to happen, I paid almost no mind to it.
A torrent of emotions was swirling through my head at the moment. The most of them were contradictory like the scary and intimidating feelings I got from being so near to a legend. Another feeling was some kind of pride, of powerfulness inside me. I, and only I, had the capacity of controlling this monster. That left a feeling of overwhelming responsibility on me as well since right now… the destiny of this world depended on my capacity of really controlling it.
-Dare you repeat that?- asked a deep and powerful voice inside my head.
-I said that seems like I finally meet you Groudon- I answered with a surprising calm and composed voice- I don't know why, but I really feel that I wanted to meet you.
It was the truth. It's been five years since I changed from that adventurous kid to one that never wanted to stand out, never wanted to bother anyone. Even that, since I learned that I was the controller something in me stirred and wanted to prove if I would really be able to do it. Would I have looked for it if we weren't in this situation where controlling it was capital? The answer is a clear no. Things is, right now I'm a little bit glad that it's come to this.
-So it's finally happened again- Groudon's voice resonated inside my head- The almighty Arceus-it sounded a lot like sarcasm- chose another human to control me.
-Seems like it- I answered- it really does, doesn't it?
-And it's a cocky one- it said stopping in front of me.
He looked at me for a while, his bright-red eyes looking directly at me. It was difficult for me to look at him, though with all the light that the sun was creating and the reflections on the monster's skin. To do that I used the brim of my had to protect myself from the light a little. We stayed like that looking at one another until I saw him smirk. After that he spoke again.
-Don't feel so important, it's been too long since I was out, and there's no way that I'll be controlled. Not by a kid like you.
-You're underestimating me- I said then- I wouldn't…
-Hah, now you're even warning me, like you could do something the way you are- he said- you have guts, but it's not enough with them. It won't be enough.
-You talk like you know me.
-You also talk like you know me- it answered- you only come here in order to try to control me, to use me. I'm sorry kid, but it's been a lot of years since someone was able to do that. And you won't be the next to do it.
-Do not even try- I said when I felt a single amount of pressure in my mind.
-Try what?
-Do not even try to control me- I said then looking at him directly.
-Oh? Now I'm surprised- said the monster- You really know some things about me.
-I've already seen it- I answered- I won't allow it to happen to me.
-Why don't we test I then?- the monster said and the pressure increased tenfold.
The pain I felt in my head made me fall on my knees and my right hand jolt towards my head in an attempt to stop the pain. It didn't. I was struggling to keep my eyes from closing, but then they did. When I opened them again I found myself in a realm where everything was blood red. Well everything except those two holes that let me see what was happening outside my head. I remembered the place to be almost the same as when I entered that strange place where I found Sapphire.
This time though, everything was red and, unlike her, I was able to stand up quite easily. To move inside was a bit more difficult, but I could hear my voice too. Seeing that I was able to move freely I moved towards those two holes. Instead of a strong glass like the one Sapphire had encountered, for me there was a veil like substance separating me from the outside. Without thinking twice on it I passed the veil and I opened my eyes again.
I felt relieved when I saw that I wasn't inside that substance anymore, but it lasted for a short time when a painful sensation made me fall down. Again I tried to hold back from closing my eyes from the pain. I clenched my fists, I bit my lip and I looked up directly at the monster.
-You won't control me!- I said- I can't allow it! Not when the life of my friends depend on it!
As I said those words at the back of my right fingers appeared a faint red sign that consisted on 3 lines. When that happened the pressure in my head almost vanished. Looking at Groudon he seemed surprised at first, but then started moving.
-Wait, stop!- I tried to command the pokemon when the faint lines appeared again- Stop moving damnit!
-I'm done here!- the monster said-I have a fight to end.
-I know, it's the same place I'm planning to take you- I said and the monster stopped, he looked at me- You're seeking revenge, you want to battle your mortal enemy Kyogre. I'm planning on helping you.
-Every time you speak, you surprise me more- it almost chuckled- But don't worry, I won't need any help to beat him.
-You're going to leave the result of the battle to fate?- I asked- You're not stronger than Kyogre.
At that the pokemon turned to me again with such a speed that seemed impossible for such a monster. The fierceness in its eyes set ablaze. I had struck a sensible chord.
-Are you, mere human, implying that I'm weaker than that fish?- it roared.
-No, in fact quite the opposite-I said- That result was a tie, and if the types are taken into account, this is something incredible. Everyone will say that the surface of the earth is 70% water so Kyogre was the winner, but what about the inside of the planet? It's magma ready to create more land. Right now, it's a draw for the simple fact that with the advantage type Kyogre was unable to completely win.
-That is correct, that's why I'll beat that fish this time-he answered.
-You don't understand. I'm not leaving the result of your fight to fate- I said seriously- too much is at stake in here. You must be the winner.
-I don't care- the earth titan spoke then, pride filling his words- it's my battle.
-I didn't really come here, risking my health to leave with you doing as you please- I said- Not before and definitely not after your fight.
-And what will you do? I can't control you, but you can't control me either way- it said turning to leave again- I can do what I want without controlling you, but if you can't I won't do as you please. Face it, you've risked your life for nothing.
-Wait! I haven't finished with you!- I yelled looking at it get away from me in the city's direction when stopped for a moment.
"Three" I counted.
After that moment I turned my running shoes on and tried to overtake him, but they were low on fuel so I turned them down. If I needed the strongest last burst it could come in handy. Trying to keep its pace running on my own was difficult though.
-RUBY!- was the yell that changed everything.
Looking just in front of me I was able to make two figures that were running directly towards the monster and, therefore, towards me. The high temperature made the image be difficult to be clear. That was until another shout clarified everything.
-Come back Caroline!-was a man's voice.
That yell was from someone I knew very well, and that name confirmed my fears. None other than my mom was the one that was coming towards me. My mom was coming towards the monster.
-Go away!- I yelled back, but my voice only seemed to motive her to run faster.
It was with the next step Groudon did that it took the turn for the worst. The stomp created one of the strongest tremors causing a small stream of lava to erupt from not so far where my mom was running.
-Lookout!-was the man's voice.
She and the man behind her jumped out the way to avoid the torrent, but they were directly in Groudon's path.
-Stop Groudon!- I tried to command, but to no avail. It never even flinched-Get away from her!
-Ruby!- was my mom's shout then when she tried to stand up.
The next step made my heart freeze. It's tremors never allowed her to stand up and with the next one they were all shadowed by its right foot. I didn't even felt myself moving.
"Click!"
That sound and I speeded as much as I could before positioning myself in front of them. Something in my right hand burned when I shouted then.
-I told you to STOP!- was then, when I shouted, did all the pokemon's black lines shone blue for a mere second.
I looked at him directly stop the leg and getting it back to an standing position. Looking up I could only see a surprised titan and when I looked at my right hand those three red lines were shining brightly. Not only that, but under the glove a faint red circle had appeared to in my skin. I was admiring this, when I was tackled into the ground by a crying woman.
-What the fuck are you doing?- she asked between sobs. Funny, it was the first time I ever heard her swear.
-Just what I have to- I said.
-What you have to? You don't have to do anything! You have to say in the hospital- she asked scanning my body. When she saw my empty sleeve she almost panicked- your arm…
-It's strapped to my body with good bandages- I told her- and it doesn't hurt at all.
-But…
-But nothing-I said helping her stand up.
-Don't talk like this to me- she scolded angry- You have no reason to be here, not at all. And what were you thinking going directly towards this monster?
-As I said, I'm doing what has to be done mom…-I answered- and I need this monster's power to do it.
-To do what?- asked the man's voice from my right.
I was surprised at who was talking to me. It was a man with brown hair wearing a lab coat. I knew this man since it was quite a lot of times on Tv and also Sapphire's father.
-To save your daughter and her friends- I said not looking at him- my friends.
-My, my daughter? Sapphire?- he was more surprised than what I expected- Crystal and the others told me she was captured. H-how is she?
-She's safe, for now- I answered and I could see some tears forming- but without this monster here, she, you and everyone in the world is as good as dead.
-But why had to be you the one to do it, Ruby?- asked Caroline crying uncontrollably- You're hurt… They called me from the hospital telling me you've been brought almost dead on Saturday night and not two days after that you start running into danger again… I don't want to lose you again, this time it would be for real!
-I don't understand anything- said Prof. Birch- You're my daughter's new friend? Everything matches, but your name is different…
-Rub and Ruby are the same person- I said then, I didn't want to lie anymore… a lot of bad things had happened due to my lies-me. I haven't been entirely truthful with your daughter and her friends.
-But why?
-Because there's a Ruby in their pasts- I said- and this person is also me.
-Then that means…
-That's why mom says that this time she would lose me for real- I said and she nodded- Look I'm sorry, but I've got to go.
-No you don't! You're staying mister- was my mom's cracked voice- there's no way you can go there hurt like you are now…
I then took a pokeball out. I held it in my right hand behind my mother. When it opened Ruru came out of it. She was tired to the point of exhaustion, but I needed her again. One last time before fainting. With her evolved form, I didn't even had to speak the command for her to understand it. Her worried face spoke volumes though.
-I'm sorry mom, but there's no choice- I said- I'll try my best to come out alive… No, I'll come out of this alive, I still have to tell who I really am to Sapphire and the others and see if they'll accept me or not. I'm sorry, I have to do this… This is my duty, and I'm the only one who can get it done.
She tried to say something, but Ruru finished her Hypnosis attack and fainted along with my mom. Returning her to her pokeball, I left my mom on the floor next to the Professor.
-I leave her to you now, Professor- I said- I'll keep your daughter and her friends safe and in exchange, you keep her safe. It's a good deal.
-You better fulfill your promise of surviving-he said, his face stern- I want to see you apologize to my daughter and the others for what you've done to them.
-I want to do it too- I said standing up.
-After you earn their forgiveness- he added- I'll thank you for keeping them safe back then. And for keeping Sapphire safe.
-It's too soon to think about that. In advance, I'll say I'm sorry for everything.
-Is your reunion over," master"?-asked the ruby colored monster, a lot of sarcasm in that last word.
-Yeah, it is- I said- I didn't really wanted to control you. I wanted to try to persuade you to help me, but at the end I had to do it.
-Savor it while you can, human- it answered- it won't last forever.
-We better get going then!
Erika's POV
-I'm going to be promoted for sure- said one grunt who happily laughed looking in mine and Norman's direction.
With our pokeballs taken from us and the fact that we were tied to our chairs made it impossible for us to try to escape. Norman had tried to, but when he stumbled, he just fell and they left him there to be laughed at.
-How does it feel Norman? To lose I mean.
-I don't really know… you tell me- he boldly answered- after this.
SMACK!
The grunts didn't like to be mocked at, that punch on his torso had confirmed it enough. If that wasn't enough he kicked him in various places then before finally stepping back. The one that punched him towered over us with a vicious face.
-Lose? We are winning! We captured two of you and we still have the control over this building- he reasoned- Also our leader is on the top floor of the main building. In Mr. Goodshow's office right now. The victory is ours!
-Keep thinking that- I said then-You've got two of us… so what? There's still a lot more.
With that the grunt that had just punched him came over to where I was. He was smirking, but when he saw mine, it turned into a scowl.
-With two of you it's more than enough… we can use you as baits- he started- or we can show you in order to demoralize them. With the two of you… it's a lot more than enough.
-I wasn't talking about that- I said and with that he pulled me from the hair with his right hand.
-And what would that be?- he asked, fury in his dark brown eyes.
I wasn't going to answer that, but I didn't need to. Some steps could be heard and another grunts entered the room. The leader had left 4 groups to wait in case of reinforcements while three more were downstairs monitoring everything and scanning every inch of the building. Said grunts went directly towards the leader with the bronze belts and spoke clearly.
-We have two more intruders- she spoke.
-How? The grunts in the monitoring room haven't seen anything!- he asked- Who are they?
-One is Wattson and the other is Janine and they are in the level -2- she spoke- the second is the daughter of Koga, you know the Team Rocket elite.
-The one who was a ninja… it makes sense that she's passed through the cameras. You!- I heard him say directly towards the closest group of 11 grunts- Come with me. And you too.
-I'm sorry, but we were all beaten- the grunt said signaling her 6 pokeball- I was the only one who wasn't captured.
-Then heal your pokemon and keep an eye to those two- he signaled to us this time- Now we're going. Seems like it's our lucky day.
-HAI sir!
With that twelve grunts disappeared from the room leaving us two with only 6 grunts to take care of us. The grunt that had warned him went to the quick healing equipment and put her 6 pokeballs in it. Seeing that the machine allowed up to 24 pokemon to be healed at the same time, she put 12 pokeballs more on it.
-Why are you healing their pokemon?- asked a random male grunt.
-These pokemon are well trained- she said- they are so strong, if we could do something to make them obey us… they would be powerful weapons.
Hearing her say this make want to puke. Pokemon are not weapons, in fact they are like my children since I've risen them all since they hatched from their eggs. We've lived through a lot together.
-Maybe Lord Sird will be able to… he has the ability of making everyone and everything do as he pleases-he commented.
It took only one minute for the procedure to be completed. After she grabbed her pokeballs and strapped them all to their belt, she directed herself towards the stairs that would let her to the monitoring room.
-I'm going to check out the battle- she announced, those two really make a good team- thpse two are really good. We might have to aid them.
With that she disappeared for 2 more minutes and she then came back.
-How's everything?- asked another grunt.
-They're coming back already- she announced- with twelve grunts, there's no way that only two people would be able to win. Not even if they were caught by surprise like us.
-Well this just means that with these two here, we now have 4 gym leaders kidnapped- said one.
-That's not correct- I said.
-No, in fact it's not- said the female grunt coming towards me before turning to look at the others- because one it's right here. Astonish!
As soon as she had said that 4 pokemon appeared from the stairs going to the lower level and attacked the unprepared grunts. She then cut the ropes that bound be with a small kunai that she kept in her sleeve before she did the same with Norman's. Finally she gave us the box containing our six pokeballs before he Ariados had bound all the grunts in her Spider web.
I only had time to unleash all of my pokemon before that group of grunts appeared from the door. What they saw when they entered was only a room with 3 people fully prepared to fight and 5 grunts hanging upside down in one corner. It was then that Janine removed her blue and red costume revealing her ninja attire.
-I'm sorry if the only thing you found were those 4 grunts hanging like these ones here, but you know… Ninjas are known for tricking people in all the ways imaginable.
-I told you that we haven't lost yet- said Norman stepping at the front- you'll know full well what I meant! Let's start!
-Sure- I said cracking my knuckles. I'm always seen as a proper lady and I am one… if you don't anger me.
10 minutes later
-They still gave us one hell of a battle- said Janine- Even when we got them by surprise and they almost had no time to release their pokemon.
-It was to be expected- commented Norman- they were trained here and know this place way better than us. They used all their resources, or the ones they hadn't distributed, and it was difficult.
-Let's heal your pokemon again- I suggested- the fight outside this building is still raging.
-O- cough- ok- was Norman's voice.
-I believe that now would be the right time to check out those injures- suggested Janine.
-We have to be quick though- added our team leader.
After a brief exploration in his arms and legs I didn't find any deep wounds, only scratches and superficial bruises that the icy spears had caused. When we looked at his torso though, things changed a little. He had a long one that was bleeding a little, plus the rib below it it was probably damaged by the kicks of that grunt earlier.
-Vileplume, you know what to do… Janine, tell you Ariados to create some bandages.
-Ok!
With that and in a matter of minutes the man's torso was bandages with a mix of spider web and string shot with a natural ointment that my pokemon had created. When he moved again the pain seemed to vanish a little so he smirked.
-Thanks for this…. If feel much better- he said- Now we must go outside.
-Sure.
With that we hurried towards the outside of the building, running way faster than how we entered. We still had our fastest pokemon out though, since we could be ambushed any time. When we arrived to our destination, the situation was nothing I had anticipated.
Just as we got out 15 officers came to us and asked how the situation was. As soon as we answered they entered in order to regain the full control of this building. I then noticed Wattson, Juan and Wallace talking where we had left them. They signaled them to come as Winona came to us and quickly took Janine away.
-What's the situation?- I asked as I arrived to where they were.
-We have the full control of the four buildings- said Juan- but the hard part comes now.
-We are the only group that still can fight completely- said Wattson rising five fingers- since Brock, Chuck, Falkner received several injuries in the first failed attempt. Tate fell while trying to save her sister from a fatal attack and is quite hurt now. The other three who are out are Blaine, that acted as a shield for his team to end their mission and right now is unconscious.
-That being said… both me and Wattson here- added Juan- plus Price won't be able to go inside to battle. We decided that we'll stay here in order to keep them from exiting the main building.
-What do you mean?
-When they saw that they had lost those four buildings, they retreated and brought the battle towards the inside of the main building-explained Wallace- Right now all of the other Gym leaders are there fighting.
-We have another problem… their leader and the higher ranked grunts all are on the top floor of it- I said- They'll be dealing with the chairman right now.
-He'll buy of some time- said Juan- Old man Goodshow is not as weak as everyone thinks. Even though we must hurry… if they are able to announce that the Association has fallen, the whole world will suffer this. Even if they lose at the end, it won't be ever the same.
-That's why I think that we should follow this plan- said Wallace- A group of five people will enter the building in the level 5, where Winona couldn't see any grunt last time she supervised the area. These 6 people will be Clair, myself, Norman, Winona, and Flannery.
-But those we'll be the ones that leaded our groups, aren't we?- I asked- Who'll command the other younger ones?
-We'll do it- said Juan- being outside we'll have more time to think and even if they're young they're very capable of making something on the spot.
-I know they'll be the strongest grunts, but if we lose the battle in the lowest floors, the numeric advantage they'll gain might be too much for us to handle- I reasoned, there had to be an ulterior motive.
-There is Norman- said an insecure and feminine voice from behind me, Janine's- I can feel it, him. My father.
-Janine's right- said another more mature, even if feminine as well voice, Winona's- Those grunts have gathered reinforcements, maybe the best they could ever find...
-What do you mean?- I asked then, fearing that I already knew the answer.
-The level we'll use to enter is the fifth because in the sixth one four people were guarding it- she explained- the very four people that turned the whole world into chaos not so long ago. Yes, those four people.
-Sabrina…-was Juan's voice.
-Lieutenant Surge…- continued Wallace.
-My father… Koga- was Janine's voice then. I spoke without thinking.
-And Giovanni- I said- The elites of Team Rocket!
And that's all for today's chapter. I hope you all liked it as much as I did when I wrote it, when I could do it.
Thank you all for your understanding in that matter, I assure you that the next one will be out way sooner than this one. Plus the next chapter will be a clear milestone for this fic since we'll arrive to the 40th chapter! thnaks to all of you for encouraging me and supporting this story!
