Hello everyone... Okay I'm sorry, but I already explained my reasons. Studying abroad is nice, but the master is taking a lot of my time, and as you will understand when you live in a new country with new people you want to see a lot of things and get to know them better. For me it was very nice, exepct the work part, but that meant sacrificing a lot of time that I would use writing. I want to clarify though, that what I said in tat last pseudo-chapter is true. From January to May... my life has been more than hectic and 70% of it was work. I now start my final thesis so I will have a lot of things to do too, but no classes so I should be able to organize myself better.
Sorry for borying you guys, but I had to leave this out of my chest. I also want to apologise for the things I wrote in that last pseudo-chapter since I wrote it in one of the worst days I had. This said... It's TIME WITH REVIEWS.
Reiko x 3: I'm really happy you liked the chapter so much, it makes me proud. Yeah Ruby is eveolving in this fic, the same way he evolved in the R/S/E manga. it's my favourite character too and the strongest in my opinion. I hope it lives up to the expectations.
Guest nº1: No worries, not leaving this fic unfinished. Here you go the 44th chapter and hope you liked it.
Elizabeth: That is an option that I took into account, but I'm not going to do it. I have the chapters planned this way and I'm not going to change it now sorry. The reason is simple, I have a lot of differents POV in each chapter and they intertwin with each other. I'm afraid that if I make it shorter, those interjections will not be followed and that the fic will become even messier than it is. I don't know if I explained clearly enough. Thanks for the support though.
smile all of your days: The fact is that I'm still studying abroad haha. It's being very worth my time, I would reacommend every university student to do it for at least 6 months if they can. THanks for your supporting words, they meant a lot. I hope you enjoy the chapter!
Perseus Ruby Sendou: I'll tell you the same as before... Ruby is my favourite and the strongest for me (when he tries). Thanks for your kind words, I hope you enjoy the chapter.
CrystalGamer24: I know I have to take care of myself, but yeah... university haha. I'm better now so don't worry about me and read the chapter. I hope you enjoy it!
And that's all with It's TIME WITH REVIEWS and before we start, our awesome editor LC5 has something important to tell us.
LC5: YOOOOOOOOOOO, Imma be officially streaming now. If you wanna see me play various games while sucking at them, go to /LexClone5. I try to be on most days I can starting 6pm-10pm PST. SEE YOU THERE!
Before we start, the delay of this chapter is entirelly because of me, the editor edited this chapter in only 2 days.
READ and ENJOY!
Chapter 44: The destined battle
Green's POV
-Mega, use Vine Whip on those rocks and throw them back!- Crystal commanded her grass type, arguably her strongest pokemon.
-Poltaro, use Dynamic Punch on the rocks- was Gold's fighting by her side- Exploraro use Swift on them!
-Mr. Mime, Psychic!- was Emerald's turn.
Our enemies, once they noticed that their numbers had decreased that much, changed their style completely. Before they were attacking again and again, barely leaving time to prepare for the next defence. Now, and after some minutes of utter chaos, they had decided to use a more conservative strategy. They weren't attacking in short range anymore, like they had tried before.
They were now attacking with more long range attacks. They used barrages of attacks, like the actual Rock slides and after that they targeted a single pokemon or two at most to tire them out faster. Since they were the ones with more pokemon and ours were already tired, that seemed like a good plan to follow, and it was showing to be that way.
After battling Kyogre Emerald's, Red's, and Crystal's pokemon were almost exhausted. They only had 3 pokemon left, and the ones they had out were visibly tired. Our enemies' numbers were much more manageable, but their pokemon were healthy and well rested and that was our main problem. They would be able to withstand an attack if they made a mistake, but that wasn't true in our case.
-Nidory, use Poison Sting towards those rocks! Golduck use Water gun on them too- I commanded- Protect Pika and Arcanine!
-Green look at the floor!- was Red's shout.
As I looked downwards beneath my and my Pokemon's feet, a massive sand whirlpool had appeared. It was a Sand Tomb attack, and it wasn't that attack alone. Like before some massive boulders were falling from the sky, threatening us. Luckily for us, only me and Red had been caught inside the attack, Crystal having moved right just before it started and Gold fighting further away from us. Emerald was flying on his Mantine so he wasn't caught either.
-Golduck, use Psychic to deflect the rocks! Scizor, use Metal Claw on them too!- I commanded.
-You've got to get out of here!- yelled Crystal.
-It's easier said than done…- I heard Red say.
-Nidory use…- I tried to command, but then I saw that this pokemon wasn't there anymore. I looked around trying to locate it, but I couldn't- Shit!
-She went in Blue's direction Green- Emerald told me from the air.
As that happened though we had to defend from another barrage of attacks. And we kept sinking due to the Sand Tomb.
-Pika, cut all the rocks you can with Iron tail! Saur prepare a Solar Beam attack!- Red commanded- Guys take flight and attack them from the air, I have to stop this Sand Tomb!
-Sure, Charizard!- I commanded.
As Red said that, we all took flight. We all knew that at battling, he was the best of us and that if someone could find a weakness to that plan was him. That's when he surprised me a lot when he commanded Saur to enter the Sand tomb with him.
I couldn't look more at him since I had to order Charizard to cut some more rocks with Steel wings while Crystal's helped me with Mega's Razor leaf. Meanwhile Gold and Emerald attacked their front lines. Gold's Ambipom was continuously using Swift attacks to keep them busy while his Typhlosion was switching from Swift to Flamethrowers that kept some grunts defending all the time.
Emerald had been using Mr. Mime from afar, but it wasn't being that effective. If he only had Dusclops ready to fight, things would be better for us.
BOOM!
I heard an explosion behind me, from the trap Red was in and I was surprised to see him at the very bottom of the tomb, just next to a hole that was in the very middle of the attack. From it I could see 2 Vibrava on the floor that weren't moving an inch. I really wanted to get my pokeGear and ask Red what was that and how we could get out of it, but I didn't have time.
-Watch out, Green!- was Crystal's shout when Charizard grunted.
Looking at his right wing, I could see that it had been frozen. When he started falling, I commanded him to use a Flamethrower on it to melt the ice. The pokemon was able to do it, but not before being struck by a boulder that made us come crashing to the ground. Or that's what SHOULD'VE happened to me, but a Vine Whip caught me in just the nick of time.
Looking around, I didn't see the pokemon that could have done that anywhere, but as Emerald passed just over the hole, another Ice beam was shot out. This time Charizard melted the Ice beam with a Flamethrower before it made contact.
-Red, be careful, there are more pokemon below the Sand Tomb!- I said.
As he commanded another Solar Beam on it, another explosion was caused, but this time no pokemon came out KO'd from it.
-Red, behind y...- was Emerald's shout when- Mantine deflect these boulders!
Chaos ensued again… As Emerald said that, we were bombarded by the most massive barrage that was aimed at us today. At the same time three Starmies that were using Camouflage appeared behind Red, while Saur was putting me down. Gold and Crystal turned to help us with the barrage, leaving themselves unguarded, and more than enough time for the grunts to attack them.
As the boulders came though, some of them just broke mid-air while we could defend from the others, surprisingly. And the most impressive one, a shining and sparkling yellow bullet fell just behind Red creating a lot of dust. When everything calmed down and the small cloud dissipated, a Pikachu with a flower on its head stood proudly on three KO'd Starmies.
-Thank Arceus I made it in time…- said Yellow's voice just above me, riding her butterfly pokemon.
-Yellow!- was Red's voice now, he seemed happy and concerned at the same time.
-What are you doing here?- asked Crystal.
-Sapphire woke up, she's fighting with Rub against Marchie- she said- I'm sorry I couldn't stop her.
-No one would've been able to…- said Red sympathetically-Don't worry about it, how are you though?
-I'm fine… I can fight. I have to fight- she said, conviction in her voice.
-And thanks for saving my ass here…
-My pl-pleasure- she said shyly before looking at our enemy and her face changed completely- We have to attack.
It may seem surprising to hear he say something like that, but we knew it would happen. She doesn't like to battle at all, and will never do it just for fun (aside from the Battle Royale)… but when she gets serious about it, she's fierce. And right now she had a lot of things to be concerned about. Sapphire, Rub, us, the world… and Red. Her Red.
-I agree with that- said Red and I nodded- Do you have anything planned?
-Why don't we think like Ruby… Rub would?- she asked.
-We all know it Yellow… does Sapphire though?- I asked and she shook her head- Good, what do you mean?
-We use this for a counter attack- she said pointing.
Pointing at the hole in the ground, the one that had created that many problems for us.
Sapphire's POV
Marchie was good, very good. That wasn't really all that surprising though because I always thought that he was invincible when I was younger. That was before I understood that there's no unbeatable enemy, but yeah… he was good. And yet there were two things that I found strange.
The first is that, even if he was that good, I was winning without losing pokemon. I mean, of course it was difficult and his pokemon's attacks were something to be feared, but… yeah… that seemed to be all. Without him commanding them I had the upper hand from the beginning, and I had already defeated his Armaldo, using Toro, and his Camerupt, using my Aggron. The defensive stance of his pokemon was good, but they never cooperated. Mine did though, and that was able to give me the momentum I needed in the battle.
Of course, some of my pokemon were tired from a hard battle since I couldn't command them all, and they had received massive damage from some attacks, but it was being unexpectedly… not so difficult. And there comes the most surprising thing… Marchie didn't even care! He was battling Rub without even stealing a glance to our fight, only focusing in his actual one. Which, by the way, was in his favour.
Rub was busy defending all the time. He could do it without receiving much damage, but he couldn't attack. Defending again and again from Kyogre's attacks and schemes left him with no time to try anything to counter. And whenever he seemed to have an opening… he wasn't really using it to gain the advantage…
-Pilo, use Magical Leaf on the Sharpedo! Now prepare another wave!- I commanded when, as I expected, Sharpedo dove into the water to evade the attack- now Relo!
With that Relo emerged from the sea using Double Edge from below, pushing the Sharpedo out of the water. As it did Relo, sank again quickly when Pilo unleashed the Magical leaf wave hurting massively the pokemon, that was KO'd on the spot. Like it had happened before though, Alakazam appeared them and Teleported himself and the fallen pokemon away from where they were battling. As I saw this I looked at the other battles that were happening at the time.
I looked at where Rono was battling to see that along Dono, they had cornered his own Aggron. It was true that it was putting a hell of a fight, but Dono's ground type attacks like Magnitude were being extra useful. Rono was in charge of the defence since he could withstand almost every attack that the enemy used. The result of this battle would be clear, but not free.
Aggron had managed to hurt Dono pretty badly and that's why it needed protection. Rono himself had received a lot of attacks aimed for the elephant pokemon, and by the time it was KO'd my pokemon were quite tired and Dono wouldn't be able to withstand another super effective attack like the previous Surf.
Just as before though, Alakazam teleported the monster pokemon and himself away before I was even able to move towards it. It surprised me a lot, but I could do nothing about it. Suddenly I realized that I had no more pokemon as my rivals right now, so I could finally help Rub directly. Although it had been way too easy…
-Pilo. Let's go…
-Don't even think about it Sapphire- was Marchie's voice in my head- your battle is still far from over.
-What do you mean?- and as I just said that the same five pokemon that I had battled previously appeared in front of me again- How?
-Yellow is not the only one with the Viridian powers- his voice said in my head- And I have to say that you've improved a lot, you're no longer that scared puppy that entered my base five years ago.
-You can keep sending them at me- I spat- the result will be the same!
-Oh, will it?- he said with a small laugh- Are you that sure?
Marchie's POV
As I expected, she was able to win against all of my pokemon, but I really wasn't counting on it to be that easy. I knew she was fierce and that she had improved a lot, but she met my expectations and then some. I had underestimated her, and that meant that I couldn't recover more before I had to restore my pokemon to full health again.
Even then, what I had said had been totally true… it wouldn't be that easy. Why? There are two reasons for that. First of all, my pokemon were ready to go while her pokemon had already battled. I would be using five pokemon this time against her six, until I had to unleash the final blow. Finally, my pokemon are going to cooperate and, since they've seen Sapphire's ones fight at full potential, this gives them a really good advantage.
A sharp tingle in my arm made me lose focus for a moment. When I realized that my eyes had been closed for even half a second I opened them immediately, half expecting Ruby's attack to be coming, but it didn't. As it had happened 3 times already, I gave an opening and he didn't made use of it. Coming from this genius, that could be called a miracle.
-You seem a little out of it, you Mud Lizard!- I yelled.
-Mud Lizard?- asked Ruby in an incredulous voice- Ancient Power!
-Water Gu…
As I started calling the attack, Kyogre unleashed a massive Hydropump attack that cancelled all the incoming boulders, while Ruby defended himself with another well-timed Fire Blast. Just after this I commanded some Water Gun bullets and Kyogre did exactly as I commanded.
We were fighting back and forth for some time, and it was amazing, everything I imagined in a battle between those gods. I had the upper hand, that was for sure, but Ruby was amazing too. He was commanding Groudon like he knew all of its characteristics, timing very well all of his defending manoeuvres to avoid even minimal damage. This said, he couldn't attack, and the 3 times I'd made a little mistake he hadn't made use of it. One happened just before Sapphire interfered, but after that 2 opportunities were missed.
But as I was thinking about that, it happened again.
-Kyogre, use Hydropump!- I commanded.
-Groudon, use Solar Beam!
-Tsunami, to counter it!
As we did that to effectively counter the grass type attack, we found ourselves pushed up and out of the water by the same attack as before, Precipice Blades.
-Kyogre, use Hydropump in fro…
But as I said that, Kyogre was already forming the massive water sphere before launching the Primal Pulse to counteract the Solar beam that was already coming our way. Both attacks collided and even if our was stronger the attack was deflected just enough to miss Ruby and break a massive building just behind them.
The attack was deflected because we were not on the water and the sheer amount of power propelled us backwards, decreasing the precision of the attack.
"You're lucky human… if I lost because of you…" said a voice in my head "there's nothing in this world that would prevent me from killing you, and for how long do you want that little girl to keep being a nuisance?"
I've never heard such hate in the monster's voice. And what was even rarer, part of me was agreeing with him. I had everything under my control, controlling both battles, keeping my back up plans still unused… so why was I agreeing that the nuisance should be stopped? I love playing with my enemies, making them have a sliver of hope and then taking it away, leaving the target morally destroyed. That was what I was planning to do with her, and that would affect Ruby too… so why? Why was I agreeing?
-Water bullets! Rapid fire!
What Ruby did this time surprised me a lot. I just saw Groudon raise his left foot and stomp it to the ground, where a visible crack appeared. His Swampert protected him of the bullets while Groundon resisted the bullets using his ruby coloured arms. The damage was not a lot, and steam was created when the water came in contact with the hot skin.
The result of that was that a small tsunami was headed towards us this time. I was about to repel the attack with a Hydropump when a Solar beam broke through it. The Hydropump in the making was unleashed, but it could not rival a fully charged Solar Beam and lost in a matter of seconds. The hit was not that effective since it collided with Kyogre's stronger skin.
-Shit! Go right!- I commanded and in a swift movement, Kyogre evaded another Precipice blades. Just when I was expecting Kyogre to stop and stabilize, it suddenly went left, avoiding another Precipice blades attack. I panicked a little when I looked around.
We were surrounded, with Groudon's lines shining brightly, the sharp blades stayed in place leaving us with no room for movement. I knew what was coming, but I only could think of something. We could try, but it was almost over…
-Kyogre use Hydropump- I commanded and Kyogre obliged…
I could see the attack coming. The sea was literally splitting, with lava erupting from within. There's only one attack that can have that effect even underwater. The unmistakable attack, Fissure. The counterpart of Kyogre's Sheer Cold, a 1HKO attack. I didn't close my eyes, part of me wanted to see that attack unleash. It was a few meters away though, when it stopped.
Yes, it stopped because Hydropump had been quick enough to strike and stop Groudon from completing the attack. But how? He had all the time in the world to attack me, and it's Ruby we're talking about… there was simply no way that this was improvisation, he had planned that, from the small tsunami he sent towards me. And he knew the timing perfectly. Just… How?
"That's enough, Boy!- was Groudon's enraged cry- That was it! It was over, I had won! I told you that I would win this battle, and if you came in my way I would…"
-Just shut up!- was Ruby's voice, anger evident in it- I fucking -cough- know okay?
"That's it, human- said Kyogre's voice at the same time- I'm not taking any more chances. You can not win both battles. You only have 3 pokemon left and we're fucking losing against mud-lizard over there. I AM THE STRONGEST! And I will never lose against a weaker type, and even less against him!"
And with that and without me being able to control it. I grabbed my last pokeball and sent it flying backwards. When I heard Salamence's cry, I knew that one of my aces was out and that the damage was done. So, even if it went out earlier than expected, why not make use of it?
-Salamence… go! You know what to do!- I said before adding- Make her remember what hell feels like.
Red's POV
I'd never seen Yellow battle as hard as she was doing now. I don't know what made her go as hard as she, it could be the fact that they had targeted Red, the fact that Sapphire was battling and she wanted to help her, or the realization that the friend that we'd just made this year had been that lost friend from when we escaped those years ago. My assumption? All three of them in equal doses.
She was the only one that had all 6 pokemon healthy, so she had a great advantage among us, but even among our enemies. And then she had her powers. Right now… she was a train with no breaks. She alone, with us as coverage, had defeated 5 pokemon in 10 minutes, while 4 of us where unable to do that in even more time. It is true that she lost Omny and Dodri doing that, but… she just healed them back to health.
And the time had come when Yellow, the pacifist, said that this had been enough. You can mess with her and she'll have a gentle side for you, but you mess with the world and she won't. And if you mess with her friends… be prepared for the worst.
-Yellow! We need a plan!- I yelled, but Green interjected.
-She has a plan- he explained.
-But…
When another massive wave of attacks I saw that they were more dispersed than ever before. Looking around I saw that two group of 3 grunts had moved to the right and left respectively. With that they were more open to attacks, but we wouldn't be able to corner like Emerald did before.
-Dodri, use Sky attack!- Yellow commanded, as soon as the pokemon was high in the air, it started descending at a very high speed, so much that it was shining- Now Tri attack, rapid fire!
Yellow had been able to teach Dodrio to command attacks while performing this attack. With the high speed that it granted, any attack became much more difficult to dodge and more powerful at contact. But that was not all.
A head on attack like that one, normally leaves the pokemon exposed if battle against more than one enemy. Since she was attacking the group that was on the far right, there were 6 pokemon that would surround the pokemon even if one was knocked out because of the attack, but that wasn't going to happen.
-Change into Drill Peck- that was it, one of her deadliest combinations.
With the new attack, the rotation the pokemon did to perform the attack directed the attack in a horizontal position, while having the power to pierce through their defences due to the rotation. That made the three grunts and pokemon to scatter around to avoid that attack.
-Porygon 2 use Zap Cannon!- with all the grunts concentrated on Yellow, they forgot to cover from any other kind of attack, and Zap Cannon is one hell of an attack.
That happened while Emerald and me attacked the ones on the far left, but with less luck. We only achieved to make them retire to their first position, with the group. In the right… Green was able to KO one pokemon, while Dodri's attack KO'd another one. Both Omny and Gravy hurt some of them quite a bit after giving them a taste of their medicine with Rock Slide.
With that we accomplished a very important thing, they were in the same place, but that also came with a price. Their comeback was fierce. They tried hard to take some of our pokemon out. First with another barrage of attacks and two combined Hyperbeams, then attacking from different positions with well timed combinations. And they accomplished their objective.
Yellow lost her Raticate and Graveler when they performed an all-out attack that was able to KO another pokemon. Of course, she immediately healed them to full health, but Green and Gold didn't have that option. His Ambipom had battled a lot today and fell under the combination of attacks, while Golduck fell after deflecting a lot of incoming attacks. He didn't receive one, he was just too exhausted.
- Yellow we need to call the plan of- I said looking at her panting- You can not keep going on like this.
-I can do it Red… don't worry about it.
-But…
-It is a good plan- interjected Green- and you know it. I know it's dangerous, but it's the best way to do it.
-But she doesn't have that much stamina- I said- she healed Sapphire, and she's healed 4 of her pokemon in a moment.
-I'm okay Red- Yellow answered back- you've been battling for hours, you all are tired.
-Red, I know what you say it's true, but we really need to go help them- Gold explained- and the officers have been doing a good job, but right now only 4 of them can fight.
-Right, okay… let's go with the plan then- I conceded- Gold leave your Typhlosion here with me, he'll be part of the defence for the moment.
-I'll leave Charizard too, you'll be the one to call it- explained Green and I nodded-You know how much longer will it be Yellow?
-5 more minutes.
-Okay, let's follow the plan then! Crys… you know what to do- said Gold-Triple S-boom!
-Mega, Venusaur, Sceptile… charge a Solar beam!- was her command.
It's true that under Sunny day, Solar beam does only take seconds to charge, but what happens if you charge it anyway? Exactly, the attack is more powerful than normal, even if it uses much more energy than the normal one. Just imagine 3 of them, not an attack that can be ignored.
-Fire!
At that sound the 3 separate beams were launched. They were separated, but they would eventually collide. When that happened the attacks would fuse generating a massive explosion on the spot, or that was the initial intention of the attack. They really had clever grunts amongst them though, because they saw it coming. Three grunts stopped each stopped the beams with their pokemon attacks, like we were expecting too.
Of course, after that, the others attacked us, making us defend with everything we had, but as soon as we could another round of the same came, and the result was the same too. And that was okay. It was okay because they couldn't just ignore it, and that kept 9 grunts focused only in defence.
-Gold, make use of Lax- I told him- and focus on the defence for a while. We only need to defend now.
-I don't like this style, but you're right.
It was only a matter of time… 5 minutes and counting. If the plan was successful in that time, this eternal battle would be over.
Ruby's POV
25…
-Huf… cough, cough, cough…
26 now. Tic… Tac… Tic… FUCK!
The battle was amazing, too amazing. Any mistake could be the end of it and it showed. 2 times I had been unable to take the opportunity to deliver a huge blow, but that last one had been too much. Everything went according to plan, I had them at a check mate position, but… I screw it. 1 second, that was the time that changed everything. 1 FUCKING second.
"That's enough boy!- was Groudon's enraged cry- That was it! It was over, I had won! I told you that I would win this battle, and if you came in my way I would…"
-Just shut up!- I said- I fucking -cough- know okay?
I looked at the pokeball in my hand and made a decision.
-You know were to go, wait for instructions- I told the gum like pokemon.
"That's it human- said Kyogre's voice at the same time- I'm not taking any more chances. You can not win both battles. You only got 3 pokemon left and we're fucking loosing against mud-lizard over there. I AM THE STRONGEST! And I will never lose against a weaker type, and even less against him!"
And that's when everything went downhill. Opening his hand, and in one swift movement he unleashed one of his last resources, his Salamence.
-Salamence… go! You know what to do!- I said before adding- Make her remember what hell feels like.
And it did. Sapphire was so concentrated on the battle that never saw it coming, but when the mighty dragon appeared in front of her, the battle turned 180º. With only Alakazam and Sharpedo left to be beaten, the battle was so in her favour. She had only lost Dono so far and even if her Tropius and Aggron seemed to be seriously tired, she would win that battle.
But not anymore. As soon as the mighty dragon appeared, her performance decreased. Between the confusion that was formed in that battle he pokemon receiver much more attacks than they should've while the Salamence ran wild between them, sweeping between strong attacks and defences.
-Water bullets!
-Mud shot!
As for me, my battle was far from over. I couldn't look at Sapphire, while I was trying to win against a legendary that had the type advantage against me.
"Focus human!"- was Groudon's voice.
-I am! Use Fire Blast!- I commanded.
No matter the attacks, Marchie defended perfectly before replying with some of his own. As he said, timing the defensive attacks was probably the only way I had to defend myself. Another mistake could very well mean a difference in damage that I wouldn't be able to get back.
But Sapphire was losing. Not by numbers, her pokemon were defending as well as they could on their own, but… If she lost, then I was done for, and after me all the Pokedex holders would inevitably fall too.
The attacks came back and forth… I wasn't receiving damage at all, but he wasn't either… and he was much more confident. My mind, normally so focused in the matter at hand, couldn't do that. It was the pressure, the immense pressure that the Dexholders have to withstand the 24 hours of the 365 days that each year has. The pressure of knowing that if you fail… it could be over.
That's when Groudon shot a Fire blast, even before I told him to. I know that it was something that I was still going to do, but that was the first time it happened and I didn't like it one bit. That's when I noticed that the mark that was on my hands, changed. The lines were there, but the circle wasn't. It had risen along my arm until my elbow. It couldn't be a coincidence, that… the first time I wasn't in full control of the beast, this had happened.
-Cough… cough, cough- I coughed and goose bumps travelled from my toes to my head- Er- cough-Eruption!
Luckily I was in time to protect from another of his attacks, but I was even more worried than before. A tingling senstation was present in my left side of the body, the coughing was intensified and more continuous. I looked at Sapphire then and what I saw frightened me.
-SAPPHIRE!
Sapphire's POV
-Dodge right Pilo!- I commanded- No-now left. Deflect that with… Magical leaf.
Why? No! Why would you protect from a Flamethrower with that? That pokemon's flamethrower nonetheless. That Sa… Salamence! Pilo's cry of pain was audible even under that heavy rain.
-Watchout! Keep going Pilo!
That is that Salamence… Marchie's Salamence… The same one that killed Ruby all those years ago. The same one Rub battled two days ago too. And neither of them could win.
-Pilo!- I yelled when the grass and flying type received a Double-edge that almost made him fall into the cold water.
I had to do something or I would lose. Some command, something…. There must be something I could do. Yeah, I could try to focus on the others and try to take them out. Yeah that would be a good idea.
-Walo use Water Sprout on that Alakazam!- I commanded.
It didn't really do any effect, since Alakazam Teleported again and again dodging all of the attacks, while trying to hurt Toro. I was about to aske Dono to attack him when the Salamence appeared in front of us and attacked with a massive Dragon Claw, the right one… the same that started all this nightmare.
I fell on top on Walo and the pokemon missed me for mere inches. The next time that it tried to do the same, Dono positioned between the monster and me, receiving the full impact of the attack. When it did that it was glowing with and orange colour, and when it ended unleashed a massive Flail attack towards the blue dragon.
-No, Dono!- I yelled then.
The elephant pokemon could do nothing else, when the dragon withstood the attack perfectly, before sending him crashing towards me with another Dragon Claw, effectively knocking him out…
"Pathetic…"- was that voice again. Kyogre's voice.
-…pphire…
"You're useless controller- was Kyogre's voice again- If that's all you can do against this pokemon… How did you expect to control me? "
Pathetic… that feeling of usefulness… That fear… Why? How? If those two couldn't… If Ruby died against it… If Rub almost died against it… how can I expect to win this?
"Like a weakling like you could ever dream of controlling me- was the legendary's mocking tone- Pathetic."
-Toro, try hitting Sharpedo with Sky Uppercut- I commanded.
As I looked at him I saw my fiery fire type try to follow my commands without a doubt, but, of course, he was unable to do it. How could I think that Sky Uppercut would be effective against a pokemon that hided in the sea beneath him?
- Sa…ire…
Nothing I tried was effective, but that wasn't the worst part… almost no commands made sense. It was because of the panic that I couldn't think straight?
"Roaaar!- I heard and as soon as I turned, the mighty dragon was behind me, trying to attack with another Dragon Claw.
-SAPPHIRE!
Just then a grey blur crossed between myself and the pokemon, deflecting the attack with its head. Said pokemon was none other than Relo, my Relicanth.
-No Relo, this pokemon it's too strong for you!- I warned.
The pokemon though ignored me and launched himself head on with a Take down attack combined with a Rock Slide. The Salamence though, withstood the rock type attack and blocked the attack before retaliating with a Dragon Claw that send it flying to the water again.
-Relo!- I tried to go look at him, but I was interrupted by the Salamence again.
I saw such malice in his eyes, that I could do nothing, but crawl backwards due to pure fear and that's when he tried to attack me again. This time though the attack was none other than a Flamethrower. I closed my eyes, but then my stone fish pokemon jumped out of the water again and received the full attack.
As soon as the attack stopped the fish pokemon fainted just in front of me. As soon as that happened two massive pokemon positioned in front of me, these being Rono and Toro.
-Why Relo? I told you that… it was too strong- I said catching his unconscious body and hugging it- Too strong to be be...
-SAPPHIRE!- was the shout that interrupted- What the fuck are you doing?
Again Rub's voice sounded so angry… And so… how to say it, disappointed? Well, he should be. I had one job, and I couldn't do it. I can not beat this monster. Not if Ruby…
-Answer me for Arceus sake! SAPPHIRE!- He really is angry at me. I'm so useless.
After that he didn't shout anymore… like he had given up on me. Maybe he did no… of course he did. Why would he still…
-Sapph- I heard his voice again then, much calmer this time. He was speaking in a low voice, but I could still hear him clearly. Why?- listen to me. I know that this pokemon brings you bad memories and that it is the same that killed Ruby, but you've got to do something.
-I can't do anything against it! It's so strong!- I yelled, clearly expecting him not to hear a thing.
-Yes, it's strong. But no pokemon is unbeatable- he said- Look at your pokedex. Does it say that it is? HE IS NOT!
For a moment I heard the angry voice again, but he speech was much more like the Rub I know.
-Ruby died against it… and you nearly did.
There was a long pause before the answer then, and I could hear the battle between the two titans while I looked at Toro, Pilo, and Rono trying to attack the Salamence, Alakazam, and Sharpedo that where trying to get past them.
-So what? You're not even going to try?- were his next words- not even after your newest pokemon sacrificed himself so you were unharmed? Is that not enough prove that they have faith in you?
-But I failed… I made so many mistakes… I am a mess right now! I'm a failure, a disappointment to everyone.
A long pause happened then and if it wasn't for the fact that I could hear the battle unleash I its full power, maybe I could've thought that that was everything that he had to tell me. But
-The only way you will disappoint your pokemon is if you don't even fight- he said in his angry yet determined voice- the only way you will disappoint me is if you stay down crouching in fear. And the only way you will disappoint Ruby is by giving up now.
-But…
-But nothing!- he yelled, power in his voice- no one can blame you if you lose. Everyone's lost a battle in their lives. What's unacceptable and disappointing is not trying your hardest like you always do. And I know, because I know you, that you won't be a disappointment.
-How?
-Because you never have- he said.
As I heard his last words I noticed that I had, unconsciously, gotten up. I know that what he said was true, but could I really do it? As I looked at my pokemon I noticed them defending against the attackers. I saw the Sharpedo attacking with a Waterfall attack while Alakazam was using Fire Punch on Pilo.
-Pilo, use Magical Leaf on Sharpedo!- I commanded- Toro meet the Fire Punch with Blaze kick!
As I did that the Salamence attacked again. The massive monster approached me at with great speed with Wing Attack, but Rono positioned in front of him.
-Protect, Rono!
My mistake was to think that the pokemon was going against Rono. It wasn't. I was the aim from the very beginning. When I noticed it, it was too late. Or not. I couldn't command anything, so my body acted instinctively… I jumped, landing on the pokemon.
When I noticed where I was though, the Salamence had already shaken me of it, throwing me down, where I collided with my Steel type. It hurt, but he had tried to accommodate my fall as much as he could.
-Rono use Rock Slide on it!- I commanded- Toro use Flamethower on it too!
At this point the Shapedo tried to attack Toro from behind, but I commanded Pilo again to cover him with Magical Leaf after Alakazam wasted a good opportunity to attack. The problem was that the Salamence was able to avoid all the rocks flying his way and countering the Flamethrower with one of his own.
The next rounds were hectic. I was losing even more terrain, while I still couldn't land a hit on Salamence. The other pokemon were receiving a fair amount of damage. That's when everything changed. Alakazam had been a nuisance for a while and while we were in the middle of an attack, all my pokemon were enveloped in a purple energy that crushed them to the top of Walo's back. That was when the Salmence took the opportunity to finish of my trusty Aggron with Flamethrower.
-Hyperbeam!- I yelled in the last second, when I saw that it was over for my first pokemon.
I was really expecting it to miss, but the Salamence was so close to Rono, that it was unable to dodge it, getting the massive attack directly in his right wing. Even if that was a good thing, Rono fell down with swirls in his eyes immediately after that. And that meant that I had 3 pokemon to beat that monster and 2 strong pokemon.
As I was trying to find a way to attack effectively, my enemies dashed forward first. Alakazam attacked with Fire Punch after Teleporting behind Pilo. I told him to receive it with a Stomp attack that cancelled the incoming attack. The Sharpedo, meanwhilewith a series of Waterfall attacks that my trusty pokemon evaded before attacking the Salamence with a Sky Uppercut.
I was totally expecting it to dodge the attack easily, but I was surprised when he couldn't. The attack didn't do much damage, but the Salamence couldn't evade it, even if it tried to do so. When he flapped his wings, the pokemon let out a cry of pain before the attack made contact. This only made it lose balance for some seconds, but something was clear. I don't know why or how, but I had been able to critically injure his right wing, thus affecting its manoeuvrability. If the massive pokemon couldn't dodge… I had a chance.
Red's POV
-The 5 minutes passed 5 minutes ago Crys!- was Gold's cry- how much longer?
-Not much- said Crystal- Razor leaf Mega! Not much.
- Eruption, Explotaro!- he shouted- we need to end this guys!
-We know Gold- I said then- we just need to defend a little bit longer!
Their strategy kept changing and evolving. It was true that they had the better numbers, but they also had a remarkably good strategist among them. Or two. They couldn't compare to the one that was fighting by our side though.
-Saur deflect those with Razor leaf!
-Charizard break those rocks with Steel wing!
-Omny use Hydropump again!
The battle was hectic, and I was feeling it. My leg, even if it was much better than before, was hurting a little, due to all the stress and fatigue I was feeling. My pokemon were really tired too and the same could be said for my friends. Even Yellow seemed quite tired, and her pokemon too.
They were attacking with doubles now. Since getting physically close, they were using the same strategy that I can use with Pike, the Substitute to attack. It's true that this lowers the health of the pokemon, but with enough training Pika accomplished to create 7 substitutes before being too tired. It was a good plan because we still had to defend ourselves, thus increasing the fatigue of our pokemon. We only had to hold, just that. And hope that the strategy would work.
-Dodri, use Drill Peck on those rocks!- yelled Yellow- Kitty, use string shot!
That was bad. They had finally realised that Yellow was one of the major threats, since she had all her pokemon available. They knew of her powers, so it would be impossible that Marchie hadn't informed them of this factor. And while I know that she was perfectly able to defend herself…
-Saur, use Razor Leaf!- I yelled.
Those attacks were meant to stop the incoming Ice beams that were coming their way, or at least lower their power enough for her to easily defend.
-Thanks Red- she told me- but I'm okay, I can manage.
It was so weird, and at the same time so pleasant to see her so confident and focused… That's why she is one of the most important Dexholders. One of the best for sure.
-One more minute guys, this time for sure!- Crystal told us.
That was the warning I was expecting, but it seemed that our enemies had had enough of this battle. It seemed like they knew that something was coming because as soon as the words escaped our mouths, three massive beams were launched towards us. Inside the beams you could easily see a kaleidoscope of colours, signalling that there was a massive amount of different attacks in it.
I couldn't help it and as soon as I saw them coming I knew that the Ultimate moves were our only choice to repel those attacks. Crystal and Emerald saw it too, quickly following my command on her pokemon when I decided to use Frenzy Plant. It was easy to see that, with that amount of power, even those attacks would be useless, so Gold, Green, and Yellow supported creating barriers and defensive layers to, at least, lower the power of the incoming attacks.
There were 3 collisions of massive powers, both of them seeming exactly even. And when it seemed that our 3 pokemon were running out of energy, a Wish attack came down on them, thus giving them enough power to cancel the attacks.
-Now!- was Crystal's signal.
-Blast Burn!-was my voice.
The last attack would've been easier to win after using both Ultimate attacks to counter it, but our strategy was better than that. We would use a fusion of two fire types Ultimate attacks to finish it. Being under the sun, that was the best attack that could be used, so when those attacks fused, a massive beam, the size of two of the last ones combined was launched.
And of course they used Protect to stop it. Or rather… tried to.
-Now Pika, Chuchu!- yelled Yellow- Volt Tackle!
The two mouse pokemon appeared in a lightning dash from each side of our enemie's defensive line. Pika came from the left, while Chuchu came from the right. Using their best and strongest attack, they went through it hitting, hurting and paralyzing most of the foe's pokemon. That caused that the pokemon performing the Protect attack would stop it, or lower its focus and that became the key, when the massive beam collided with the barrier creating a massive explosion in the middle of our enemies defensive line.
-Did it work?- asked Green by my side.
-I think it did…- said Crystal- Parapeon!
At the sound of that the cloud of smoke gained a greenish colour. That lasted for a minute until it started to dissipate revealing the entirety of our enemies, either Knocked Out or asleep.
-Pika!- was the sound that made us turn our heads.
And it was Pika's and Chuchu's cry when they came out of the same hole that our enemies had used to attack us, before Parapeon appeared behind them.
-How did it go buddy?- I asked the yellow rodent as it positioned in my shoulder, while Chuchu positioned atop Yellow's head.
-Pika!- it said with a thumbs up.
-Nice!- I said turning back- Emerald you command the officers. I want all of these grunts tied down, asleep and without their pokemon. You have 10 minutes.
-It will be done.
-Gold, you help him too- said Green, but there was no response- Gold?
As we noticed him he was atop his Typhlosion marching quickly towards the place where Ruby was battling Marchie in the battle of legendaries.
-Gold! Damn it!- I said- Crystal, you do it…
-Yellow cover for me!- she said before jumping onto Mega and doing the same.
-Sure…- said Yellow.
-Be safe and quick Yellow- I said- we will need you there.
-You too Red- she said- Be safe please.
-No worries- I said with a smile- c'mon Green. Let's go!
Ruby's POV
Shit… not now. The battle between Marchie and me didn't give any option to rest, and boy did I need one. Attacking back and forth was becoming tiring and my condition was not going to allow the battle to go for much longer.
On the other hand though, Sapphire was holding her own now. With only two pokemon, since Walo was their only support above the cold waters, she was defending quite nicely from the Salamence, Alakazam and Sharpedo. It had to be a matter of time until a Dexholder or some of them came to help us.
-Ancient Power! -I commanded to counter the same incoming attack.
That was something important. This only attack could be the key to the victory, for either side. It is not a super effective move against any of the monsters, but it could boost all of their stats, thus multiplying their strength immensely.
I kept attacking and defending when I received an incoming call.
-Rub?-Gold's voice-I'm coming. Give me an opening.
-Got it- I said- Blue sphere, right hand.
-Received and out- he said, I smiled.
-Fire Blast!- I commanded.
The answer was a massive Hydropump, that started to push my attack back.
-Eruption!
From the underwater a magma torrent was shot upwards, which stopped the attack and cancelled it. This created some steam. After that last failed attack he was way more on guard to everything I did and I would use that against him.
After another Fire Blast I tried using Precipice Blades again, but he saw the attack coming and shot a series of Hydropump bullets around itself to break them.
-You won't get me with the same trick boy- he said confident.
-And here I was, cough, hoping you would- I said when.
"Something is com…-was Kyogre's voice."
-Solar Beam!
At that point I attacked with an attack that would hurt a lot, so they had to defend. And they did.
-Hydropump!
The action Kyogre did though, was not that attack. In fact, it only turned at a massive speed creating a protective Tsunami. When the attacks collided I saw an small explosion, and they had cancelled each other. That's when a torrent of water appeared from under the sea and Gold, atop his Politoed landed on top of Kyogre.
Gold launched towards Marchie, but this one evaded quickly. That happened until Poltaro used Dynamic punch towards his leg making him stumble a little. That was the opportunity Gold was looking for and launched himself towards the sphere. Kyogre shook violently, trying to throw everyone off it, but both Marchie and Gold could stay on top while Poltaro fell off it.
Gold got hold onto the sphere and pulled, but when it seemed like he was going to take it from him, he couldn't. And that's when Marchie grabbed him by the neck with massive strength.
-It's… attached… to his arm!- Gold yelled trying to escape from his grasp.
Luckily I still had an ace to use up my sleeve.
-Now Ditty!
When I yelled that a pink, gum-like, creature shot out of the water and enveloped around Marchie's head, obstructing all breathing orifices. Marchie left Gold alone while trying to take the Ditto out, but after trying for a while, both arms went limp at his sides when it lost consciousness.
Seeing Marchie out, Ditto slipped off so as not to kill him, but when Gold went to finally recover the sphere, the sphere shone with a blue colour. Blue lines rose up his arms, elbows and to his head when they fused in a blue circle.
Suddenly Marchie rose against with the sphere still attached to his right hand and a blue glow in his eyes. I trembled… I remembered those eyes, they were the same as Sapphire when Kyogre was controlling her.
-GET AWAY, GOLD!
But it was too late. Marchie grabbed him and threw him to the air with immense power.
"You all made a mistake- Kyogre's voice said- no one can win against me."
That's when the monster unleashed a massive Ancient Power attack, directly towards the falling human. I was about to shout, but someone beat me to it.
-Gooold!- Crystal yelled from behind when our friend disappeared underwater in the middle of the barrage of boulders.
My mouth was agape, when I also saw Kyogre shining for a moment after the attack. The attack had worked… and Gold was…
-Gold! No…-was Crystal then- you will pay. You hear me Marchie..
"Marchie is no more- said Kyogre's voice- I've got full control of him. And don't worry about your dead friend. You'll all join him soon enough".
-Zuzu search for him- I commanded.
-Gold is not dead and I don't care who or what you are- she said rage in her breaking voice- We are the Pokedex holders AND YOU WILL PAY!
Aaaand close! Yeah a cliffhanger, another one... Some people will be so mad at me, not writing anything for almost 6 months to leave this cliffhanger, but yeah sorry XD.
