First of all, Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you all have a fantastic holiday and even better new Year. Now as a present for all of you, I present you the 45th chapter of this fic.
Yeah I know it is not really a present, more like something I owe you all since... forever. I hope you can all forgive me, since I don't really have any excuse other than work and writer's block. Sorry again and I hope you love this chapter. This said it's TIME WITH REVIEWS, or review this time.
Reiko x 3: I'm glad you liked the chapter. I ope you like this one as much as I do.
And that's all for TIME WITH REVIEWS. Yeah there is only one review for this chapter. I know that this is probably my own fault since this chapter took forever to be completed, so do not worry, I know and accept why this happened. Before we start though, our editor would like to say some words.
LC5: What is up everybody, long time, no see. I don't really have any news of my own, but a friend of mine, Prototype (I believe that's the name he's going with), is going to be making character spotlight videos for the new Super Smash Bros Ultimate game on YouTube. His first video is in the works, so keep an eye out for it. See y'all hopefully before another long hiatus occurs!
READ and ENJOY!
Chapter 45: The final showdown?
Ruby's POV
-Gold is not dead, and I don't care who or what you are- she said, rage in her breaking voice- We are the Pokedex holders, AND YOU WILL PAY!
-Stop, Crys!
I knew she was going to try something reckless, so I stopped her in tracks. Don't tell me why, but I had the feeling that Gold was not dead, and even if he was… We didn't have the time to dwell on it for long. Or at least not personally.
-Zuzu!- I commanded- go help Gold. Find him and put him in a safe place, try to find Yellow in case he is seriously hurt.
I saw a small hesitation for his part, mostly about leaving me alone atop this monster, but he complied with my request.
-Crys, Sapphire… Zuzu will take care of Gold, but I need you- I said, I knew Sapphire would be able to hear me- There is no way I can win this battle alone now.
"How dare you foolish HUMAN!- was Groudon's voice- I WON'T ALLOW ANYONE TO SAY THAT I CANNOT BEAT FISHY OVER THERE! EVEN IF YOU ARE MY CONTROLLER!"
"Oh, but he is right…- was Kyogre's once again- Not only I gained full control over my body, but this human body has some exceptional powers!"
Just after saying this Alakazam appeared just next to Marchie's body. Opening his eyes, that were now shining a vivid blue, he touched all of his defeated pokemon, restoring them all back to full health. Even the Salamence Sapphire was struggling so much with, was completely healed by him. I saw Sapphire fall on her knees when she saw that.
Shit, shit, shit, shit! I couldn't concentrate. We were cornered, and, normally, surpassing situations like this was my specialty. To use quick, but planned strategies to get out of those situations. But not now… not when I only had a monster that needed all my focus to control. Not when every time I tried to move, I felt like someone just stabbed me either in my left arm, my ribs or just somewhere.
That syringe had lasted for some good 5 hours, but… no more. And now I was feeling all the pain I should've felt before, all at once. My mind was blocked… the pressure of everything that was at stake was too much it seemed. And now…
-Fire blast and Earthquake!- I commanded before another bolt of pain went through my body- cough, cough!
The earthquake created a small wave that should've stopped the Hydropump that was coming a little bit, and the Fire blast cancelled the attack completely.
-Rub? Are you okay?- just next to Crystal, Red and Green had appeared.
-Yeah, cough- I said- Red… You battled against Marchie before right?- I asked focused in Kyogre.
-Yes.
-Then I need you and Sapphire to beat them! And I need Crystal and Green to help me with Kyogre- I said.
-Where is Gold?- Green asked.
-Recovering, he'll help us in a little while- I said, beating Crystal to it.
-But what happened with Kyogre…- asked Red- weren't you evenly matched with him?
-Not anymore… now go!- I said- Crystal, come here for a moment.
I had to defend again from one of his attacks and the difference was so big now. He attacked with the Water Gun bullets, but to defend against them I had to use a fully charged Solarbeam.
-Crys, I know it's hard, not knowing what happened to Gold- I said- but Zuzu will keep him safe and take him to Yellow. What I do know is that he is alive. If we lose here though, none of us will be able to tell the tale. We are not fighting Marchie anymore… He would want to toy with us, but Kyogre won't even blink before killing us if he has the chance.
-I know… it's just that…
-I can not win Crystal, not alone- I said- Not without you helping me. And not without Sapphire. This battle is in her hands, we just need to give her time.
-Time for what?
-Time to find a way to win, she is the only one who can.
Emerald's POV
-Okay Yellow, the rest is in the officers' hands- I said- we need to go help them.
-Right- she said and started to run towards the beach.
We had complied with what Red and Green had told us to do. We captured them, ensure that all of them were put to sleep after immobilizing them. Now we were going to meet out friends, but on the way Yellow suddenly stopped.
-What's the matter Yellow?- I asked almost bumping into her.
-Blue and Silver are still battling some grunts, and they seem like high-ranked ones- she said.
Looking over at them I saw that she was right. Both grunts were wearing Golden-belts in their arms and legs. This meant that they were some of the highest ranks in the association and , of course good battlers. Looking at their side I could see that they were using a lot of pokemon even if some of them were not heir own. Rub's Milotic, Mightyena and Castform were battling with them too.
-We should go help them- I said.
-No- she answered- we should go help Red and the others. Blue and Silver will be able to beat them. There is no better team than those two.
I thought about that and it was true… They could deal with that here, but could Rub and the others do the same? It was a difficult situation, two groups needed our help, but we could only choose one.
I looked at them again, when I noticed that two grunts were approaching that battle silently. They were the same two Bronze and Silver-ranked girls that were in our battle before. How could that be possible?
-They escaped- said Yellow- They must've used something to avoid being paralyzed and get out of there after we captured everyone. And look, they are going towards the battle.
-Leave them to us- A voice said behind me- I noticed those two escaping. We will prevent them from entering that battle and we'll capture them.
When I turned, I saw 4 officers pokeball in hand. They seemed confident in their words, that much I could say, but… they were beaten up. Gashes along their suits and some blood dripping from small cuts. It was clear that the grunts had not even hesitated before attacking them with their attacks.
As soon as I wanted to talk though, a massive Earthquake shook the ground to the point I that some cracks appeared in it below our feet. Just after what I assumed to be one of Groudon's strongest attacks I saw that same pokemon fall backwards, overthrowing a massive building with him. The dust cloud that enveloped the area then was massive, but when it dispersed I could already see said monster, stand up again with Ruby on top.
-Okay- I said- capture them, that's our command. And help Blue and Silver as much as you can afterwards. C'mon Yellow… Yellow!
She was still looking at the razed building at out left, at all the debris that was still rolling… But we had no time for that.
-Oh, yeah let's go!
We ran as much as we could, while looking at out left again and again to see if another building was about to fall again. The only thing we could see though, was the sound of the battle between those two monsters and see some steam floating up, probably from collisions of their attacks.
When we reached the beach we were amazed at what we could see. Ruby was no longer fighting alone, he had Crystal and Green helping him and they were still pushed back. I could also see Sapphire and Red battle behind them against… pokemon, Marchie's I assume.
-SWAMPERT!- was the shout that turned our head to the sea at our right.
-It's Ruby's Swampert, what is he…- I started- Gold?
Yellow had already started running as soon as she saw that Zuzu was carrying someone on his back. When I arrived she was checking his pulse. I could see a huge bruise just over his right eye and minor cuts here and there.
-Yellow?- I asked when I saw her opening her jacket, only to melt under her touch revealing his real jacket under it- What's that?
-It's Ditty- she said closing her eyes for a second.
-How is…
-Shhht!
She stood still touching Ditty for 20 more seconds until she opened her eyes again. She looked at me ferociously.
-Long story short…- she started- Gold tried to get the blue sphere on Marchie's hand, but Kyogre threw him out and attacked him with Ancient Power. Ditty enveloped around him to protect him as much as it could, but he was knocked out. Gold seems to be okay, lots of bruises and a concussion maybe, but he'll still be okay. Ditty won't.
-Why not?
-Because I will stay here healing Gold and I don't think that my stamina will last enough to heal Ditty- she said- but I will need help.
-Are you sure that he'll be okay?- I asked, really fearing for my friend- he seems really beaten up.
-He is, but I'll heal him- she answered- and… you should look at yourself before judging others. Now help me, I will not be able to take Ditto out and heal him at the same time. You do that while I heal him. After that we will join the others, I would like to go now, but we can not let Gold like this.
At that, I smiled… I knew that all of us were looking less than proper right now, but what can you expect what we went through? And another thing cheered me up… If Yellow was able to make a joke like that in this situation it means that Gold was out of danger… right?
Blue's POV
That must've been the worst battle I've ever fought. Before Silver came to my aid I was having one of the worst times in my life and only after he joined me I saw an opportunity to win. Those diminished when Malcolm came and made the fight "even" again, but with the arrival of Rub's Pokemon they improved a little bit more. And finally, Nidory arrived too.
We still had less pokemon than they had. They had lost Malcolm's Cradily, while Camerupt and one of the Ditto's were really hurt. Our pokemon were almost exhausted and it was difficult for them to keep the pace, but Nidory changed some of the momentum. It arrived in the nick of time, when Metagross was going to attack my Blasty, using a really effective Earthquake to stop it in tracks.
Without the Cradily, our teams, plagued with Water types, could function way better. With the coverage of Ice type moves that they had and Nidory and Rhydon protecting them from possible electric attack, the battle was even. They were trying to abuse the poor protection we had over Psychic types though, but that's when the other 3 pokemon we had became important.
Ruby's pokemon were acting alone, I didn't know their full capabilities, but after seeing them perform I was sure that they were incredibly trained. His Delcatty had performed amazingly before, knocking out a lot of enemies before falling so I could just assume that these three pokemon were as good as that one. The Mightyena had positioned itself between each Psychic attack that would go directly towards Nidory, acting as a perfect shield for it. Both Castform and Milotic were helping us with the defense for the moment.
-Blue keep track of the Jolteon on the right- said Silver- that one is really hurt!
-Nidory use Mud Shot on it!- I commanded when Zan ordered the pokemon to transform.
-Metagross, use Psychic again!- Malcolm commanded before Mightyena stepped again to cancel it-Now Hitmonlee!
-Feraligatr, use Hydropump on it!
-No!- I yelled and Feraligatr stopped the attack in tracks- you're going to heal him again.
Without the attack though, Hitmonlee had free road to attack Mightyena. It was using a massive High-Jump Kick to KO it in one shot, but what no one was expecting was the mighty wolf to use Iron Tail on his leg in one swift move in order to make him miss and collide with the floor. The recoil produced by the missed attack was pretty hard, but then the fighting type turned and slammed his foot on the wolf from the back sending it forward, hurting it with Roll Kick.
-You're starting to get it now- said Silver- and I now understand why you were struggling so much before. It's not easy.
-And it will become even more difficult!- Malcolm said- Camerupt, use Eruption! Metagross, Psychic towards the Nidoqueen!
-To Breloom and Mach Punch!- commanded Zan.
-Gyarados, use Waterfall on it!- I heard Silver yell- Nana, try to avoid it!
At that point I swear I saw the pokemon smirk, because not even a second after that command it gracefully jumped around the Mach Punch attack while receiving, afterwards the full Psychic attack protecting Nidory perfectly.
-Nidory, use a Barrage of Poison Stings!
After that I saw that a veil enclosed everyone in our side and soon after that, boulders engulfed in flames began to fall. Mimi had used Safeguard to protect us, at least from the possible burn of the attack, that even if not really effective was stronger due to the really hot sun that was shining in our heads.
-Bull, use Take Down on the Breloom!
The attack had worked a lot better for us than before, and that was mainly for two reasons. The first one that, finally, I was able to locate one of the Ditto's and predict somehow, one of the foe's movements. The second…
I saw Popo attack the Metagross with another Weather Ball, but this last one was able to evade it. That had been a good attack, but alone it had been too predictable. The comeback was terrible though. In a span of seconds, we lost all the advantage we had gained in that one turn.
Two Dittos defended easily from our attacks and two of our pokemon suffered from their attacks. Rhydon and Blasty received one attack each, in an aim to defend Gyarados and Bull, who would've been whipped out by either of those. A Roll kick from Hitmonlee to Bull, that Blasty intercepted using a Mega Punch that lost and A Rock Slide from Golem that was going towards the red serpent pokemon that Rhydon countered using its own Rock slide, receiving some boulders in the process.
The situation seemed to worsen again after we kept just losing rounds, and our attacks didn't do a thing. That's when another Roar from Nana returned their Golem and Hitmonlee, two Dittos to their pokeballs. Not only that, but the attack returned all of our pokemon into their pokeballs too.
-What? Why?- I asked then-How?
- She didn't use it on them… she used it everywhere!- said Silver- and all the pokemon that are now weaker than her were returned. That means that Ruby's pokemon are the strongest ones we have now.
After that she just laid down, in a sphinx-like position looking directly at us. She seemed like a little Growlithe that just wanted to play, but here eyes told us a much different story. After two barks, both Popo and Mimi positioned just next to her and looked directly at us. After that they just turned away and looked at the enemy.
-I think I understand Blue…- Silver said- she is trying to tell us just that, that they are the strongest pokemon on the field now… can they be telling us to let our pokemon rest?- he asked then- telling us that they can do it alone…
Bark!- it was an angry one.
-I don't think that's it… they just want us to use them- I said- just like before, when you told her to dodge… they're here not only to help. They are here to fight for us.
At that I saw all 3 pokemon turn their heads and all of them nodded in aprovement. Mimi, the easiest to read was smiling. Both me and Silver took out all 3 pokeballs again, while they did the same. A battle of 9 vs. 9 started then just like before, but it would be different now… I swear it!
Red's POV
I wanted to be the one to battle the Salamence, since I know the massive aversion that Sapphire has for it, but it was a lost battle. Being able to fly, the Salamence had free reign of where to go and who it could choose to battle with. I was placed in one end of Relo, while Sapphire was in the other.
I would've like to go and fight together with her, but we really couldn't do that. Not when we had to battle on Walo and therefore, protect it. Some of our pokemon might've been able to fight on the water, but not anymore so if they managed to knock it out, we would've lost our only fighting platform. And, Walo couldn't properly defend either if it didn't want to shake us off completely.
Actually, that is not true. There is a point in which Walo can defend himself, and that is the middle of his body, where he can expel a massive torrent of pressurized torrent of water, but aside from that… One of us had to protect that head and, the other the rear part, because one thing was clear… Marchie wanted to play, so he never tried to attack it, but Kyogre did not like to play at all. It wanted to destroy us as soon as it could going for the weakest points.
I was in the rear, fighting Marchie's Camerupt, Armaldo, and his annoying Sharpedo, who had free will to move around and attack quickly from each side, while the other two combined attacks quite well, giving us a run for our money. So far, I had been able to knock out the Armaldo once, but as soon as I did that Alakazam appeared and teleported to where Machie was still placed, only to bring it back full of health again.
-Saur, use Razor leaf on Sharpedo as soon as he surfaces, don't let him get close- I commanded.
Pika , Lax, and Saur were not having a good time. The Camerupt was receiving Pika's attacks every time, making them ineffective while Armaldo took Lax's and fought back, hurting it. I already used the Rest-talk combo once and it hadn't been as effective as desired.
-Toro use kick him with Sky Uppercut, PIlo use Razor Leaf to cover him!
Sapphire was behind me, fighting on her own. It wasn't that she was fighting badly, she just seemed… out of focus. She was battling two pokemon, plus some intervention of Alakazam or Sharpedo, but she was too focused on the Salamence. It's true that he is the strongest, but… even defeating him was not useful enough. We had to cooperate.
-Sapphire I know how to beat them!- I said- it's our only choice, if not this fight will go on forever.
-Our pokemon won't last forever- she said- we need to end it as soon as possible Red.
-But focusing on the Salamence won't achieve that!- I said- we have to cooperate, while protecting Walo.
-What is your idea then?
-We have to defeat one onslaught of pokemon after another- I said- Alakazam will have to repeatedly Teleport them towards Marchie since he cannot carry all of them at once. If it does, then it will tire out faster, like Rub's Gardevoir did.
-Then what?
-Then we prepare an attack for Alakazam, Mean Look would be perfect, but it's not an option- I said- maybe just try one of the ultimate attacks.
-Okay, we'll try that- she said- Pilo, use Magical Leaf on the Aggron!
Silver's POV
One Gligar on the right, the Flareon that seemed to be really hurt on the middle… shit.
-Weather Ball on the Gligar!- Blue ordered then- Bull, Crunch on the Metagross!
-Golem intercept it with Rock Tomb!- Zan commanded, trapping the pokemon inside-Hitmonlee, use Roll-Kick on it!
-Mimi use Aurora beam!
With the Hitmonlee approaching it directly, it was difficult for him to stop before receiving full impact of the beam, so he jumped.
-Now Bull Superpower and grab it! Mimi, redirect it to him!
And luckily that was the end of one of the pokemon that were giving us more trouble. In the meantime, Feraligatr was battling another Ditto, that was transformed as a Typhlosion. At first, I smirked, but when it attacked using its better speed and maneuverability with Thunder Punch, my pokemon suffered. Luckily for us, we'd battled against a better version of the same attack from the same pokemon so, I still could attack afterwards.
Our enemy was prepared for a counter so the pokemon quickly transformed into a Lapras, pokemon that would easily resist a Hydropump with its Water Absorb ability. The fact is, that I expected that so… I attacked with Crunch! It was not an attack the pokemon was prepared so the damage was great.
They seemed to be losing their edge in the battle, but victory was still far from us. Any mistake would make a lot of the efforts we put on this battle be in vain, so there was no room for relaxation. And it showed.
For some minutes we were pushing hard on their pokemon, not making mistakes and lowering their health constantly, albeit slowly. That changed though, when we lost Silver's newest acquisition, Rhydon. That changed everything completely since he was the best defense we had against Electric attacks, with its Lighting-rod ability, so when he fell to a really good combo, a lot of problems arose.
Most of the Ditto's were now just transformed into electric types. Two of them were an Electabuzz and Ampharos, while the other two were still changing from one pokemon to the others. The two electric types were wreaking havoc in our lines, since our teams were plagued with water types. The Sunny weather was helping us avoid stronger attacks like Thunder or Zap Cannon, but the Water attacks were also weaker in it.
That's when Rub's pokemon were the most effective, and actually proved themselves completely. Popo was countering electric attacks with fire Weather balls while Nana and Mimi, arguably the healthiest pokemon, attacked. Mimi was using Ice type attacks, which resulted in Golem being Knocked out. Meanwhile, Nana was relentlessly attacking the Metagross with Crunch and an agility to avoid attack that I've never seen in a pokemon.
The strong steel type was trying to connect with his powerful Meteor Mash, but Nana jumped, rolled and turned in order to avoid it, completely nullifying the pokemon. That was until they tried to hit it with Camerupt's Eruption. At that point Nana used Feint, in order to evade the attack, which was going to collide with the Metagross.
That seemed massive mistake for their part, but before I happened the same Flareon received the attack Jumping in front of it. We all knew that it's next attack would be much stronger, but just before he could do it, Nana ended the Feint attack, effectively knocking it out.
So now Zan had 3 Dittos and his Dewgong and another pokemon while Malcolm had lost 3 pokemon, Cradily, Golem and Hitmonlee, and had Metagross close to fainting. And the battle, was still quite far from ending.
Ruby's POV
No way… just impossible. We could not attack. And I was not alone! Crystal and Green were supporting me, trying to stop the attacks that were coming at them, but it was so damn difficult to do that, that trying to fight back was impossible.
Kyogre's attacks were so much stronger than before, that Groudon could only defend under the sun and really close to his body. That was the only way that the impressive sun was able to evaporate enough water before both attacks collided. I, for one, had lost the only protection I had when I sent Zuzu to rescue Gold.
-Rub, any ideas?- asked Crystal- We need to do something… we have to attack.
-We can not right now- I said, trying to find a way to accomplish that without a suicidal outcome.
-We have to!- yelled Green- He is cornering us more and more. Our pokemon are not resting at all and we are only defending. If we can attack…
-We can not beat this monster now Green- I said- we have to…
-To what?- asked Green, but I almost missed it.
It was like a blade had pierced my whole body. The pain I was feeling everywhere had only intensified. The more I tried to find a good strategy, to think what would get us out of this mess, the more it hurt. And now… just after I said that we didn't stand a chance…
-We have to… cough... hold until the others come- I looked at my hand and I almost panicked.
"Do not panic Ruby… it's just blood. You knew that was going to happen. I have to concentrate!"
After that another wave, literally, came. We defended like we did with the last ones that Kyogre sent. Groudon broke it with Solar Beam while Green and Crystal concentrated all of their attacks on the second wave the would come behind the wave. The problem was that the worse was still to come since the time since Kyogre had used its strongest attack, Primal Pulse, was nearing its recharging time.
Both Primal Pulse and Precipice Blades have the same problem, they are some of the strongest attacks ever, but they have a recharging time of more than 25-30 minutes. And the worst thing was that Kyogre didn't have the limitations that Marchie had. It had healed Marchie's pokemon way past the threshold that Yellow had, so I assume that right now, Marchie would be almost unable to do it. We were just lucky enough that Marchie could not heal Kyogre with his powers.
"Think Ruby, think… you have to find a way to win this."
But there was, literally, no time to find it. We couldn't even create an opening. Kyogre's attack were coming more often. It was a stalemate, but barely. And then it occurred me, a plan that could change the flow of the battle, the ultimate attacks. There was a chance, and we had to take it.
Red's POV
Why wasn't it working? Why?
Alakazam was teleporting, attacking, teleporting again with a comrade… without stopping. How? HOW?
-Red, it's not working… and it should- Sapphire said.
-I don't know… he's teleported more than 30 times in the last 10 minutes. And in 5 of them it was carrying a pokemon to be healed- I said, I had been paying attention to it- he should be tired already.
-He should, but he is not…-said Sapphire, her voice caught between attacks- Pilo Magical leaf again!
I had to focus on my side of the battle for another while. Lax defended me from a Flamethrower from the Camerupt. Pika tried to Thunderbolt the Sharpedo while Saur exchanged blows with the Armaldo.
-I know Red… I know what is happening!- I hear she yell- It's so simple too.
-What?- I asked between orders to my pokemon- What is it?
-Alakazam is getting tired, but Marchie is healing it- she said.
-But when?
-Just after it finishes healing the other pokemon that it's carrying- she said- just like Yellow, he can only use the palm of his hands to do it. And one is occupied with the blue sphere, so that is the only possibility.
-It is simple… and probably true as well- I said- then what do we do?
She didn't respond, she just focused of the incoming attacks. The exhaustion we were feeling was evident after this "plan". We had to find a way to force Alakazam to teleport without having time to get healed. But how?
-We need to wait Sapphire… we have to hold until the others increase the pressure on Kyogre- I said- Then it will not have time to heal Alakazam anymore.
Crystal's POV
-Rub, that is insane!- I told him.
-What?- he asked then, dumbfounded.
-Your plan is not good at all- I continued- We can not try that, it's too risky…
-We have to take risks if we want to…
-We can not put the whole city in danger! And you!- said Green then.
-I DON'T CARE ABOUT IT!- was the yell that came from Ruby- WE HAVE TO WIN THIS!
I was surprised then… I had never seen Rub so mad, so angry, so out of control.
-What you are asking is nothing short of a suicide mission!- I said in a loud voice- With its actual power, you will be obliterated!
Ruby's plan was to wait for the next time that Kyogre used the Primal Pulse attack. At that moment We would use our Ultimate attacks to hold him off just enough so he could lift Kyogre out of the sea with Precipice Blades. Then we would redirect our attacks and we would gain momentum.
And there were some drawbacks in the plan… One of them was that the massive attack would then rise, and since it would be aimed at us, he would be caught in it fully. Plus…
-We don't even know if we can withstand the attack with one Blast Burn and one Frenzy Plant alone Rub- said Green- We are not doing it…
-But…- said Rub before putting his head in his hands- o-okay. Yeah, you're right. This was too crazy to work. I'll think of something else, I'm sorry.
-I like the idea of using our ultimate attacks though- I said taken back by his mood changes.
From angry to caring, to fierce and mad again… only to come to his senses after a while… What the fuck was happening in his head?
-What do you mean?- asked Green.
-I have a theory- I said- We can not use our attacks like that though, we need equilibrium.
It had happened before at the Landbirth Pyramid. When Emerald, Silver and I used our attacks together, both Frenzy Plants absorbed a little of the Hydro Cannon's power, thus lowering the total power pf the attacks. In that cases 1+1+1 was not equal to 3. On the other hand, when we used the 3 Frenzy Plants together, they had the power of more than 3 attacks of that caliber.
I couldn't continue my speech since Kyogre started throwing attacks at us again. We could not overpower him, but with precise control of the timing, we were able to fend off the attacks that were coming our way. It was more difficult every time, but it had to be frustrating for Kyogre too. He was too eager to show that he was the strongest legend, so to see his mortal enemy defending himself, had to be a blow in its self-esteem.
-What do you mean?- asked Ruby this time.
-We need the 3 types of attacks at the same time, Water, Fire and Grass- I said- this way they will be in equilibrium. They will act as a single attack that will have the power of 3 of the most powerful attacks ever discovered.
-But we don't have another one- said Green- both Blasty and Feraligatr are with Blue and Silver fighting.
-That's not the complete truth…- said Ruby, surprisingly- it's true that we can not count on Feraligatr or Blasty, but we have another one.
At that moment, we took his thumb and index finger and put them in his mouth and whistled. It was a very high pitch sound that lasted for 5 seconds. After that, nothing happened.
-What now?- I asked.
-Now we wait…- he said in a serious tone again- Zuzu will come back soon.
Ruby's POV
And wait we did. Or tried to because Kyogre kept barraging us with attacks. It had understood that using Ancient Power again was not going to be the best choice, because he was already stronger than Groudon, and that was the only attack that it was easy for us to defend against. And for us it was a relief more than anything. Each one of us would choose to have to defend another Blizzard or Hydropump, than the risk of Kyogre raising his stats even more.
If that happened we were done for…
"Having negative thoughts human?- said the deep voice inside my head, quite angry I might add- I can not belief that a weakling like you is my controller! Each and everyone of the ones I had were the proudest men! They knew my power and thought that I was the strongest being in the world. Yet you decide that fishy over there is stronger than me!"
-He is right now…- I said, bored of this conversation already- but we can win.
"You are trying to win this fight using normal beings- it said- in a battle of legends! This is a sacred battle! Little beings like normal pokemon should not be in it. It is bad enough that 2 humans are in it already!"
-I will only say it once… YOU ARE NOW WEAKER THAN KYOGRE!- I said, rage burning inside me now- You are only in the battle because of me! So shut up and do my binding.
"You're playing a dangerous game human- it chuckled- In your state… let's see how much you can hold this up."
At that point the voice disappeared and I could finally concentrate again in the battle. Some attacks went back and forth, but the only outcome was that Crystal's Parasect could not hold anymoe and was KOed by a massive Blizzard. Green's Scizor was about to get the same fate, but a blue barrier appeared in front of it, just in time, and protected it. Behind it, Zuzu appeared and quickly positioned in a fighting position.
-Okay so your Swampert is here- said Green- and you're telling me that it knows Hydrocannon?
-Yes.
-How?
After that I received another piercing pain in my whole body. It was so strong that two tears fell from my eyes.
-I taught him the attack- I said- How else would that happen?
I was about to apologize, when I saw something in Sapphire's position, I turned to see Zuzu, Charizard and Mega really close to each other, and then at Sapphire.
-Crys prepare the ultimate attacks- I said- On my count!
-What?
-3!
Silver's POV
That has to be the most difficult and slow battle I've ever fought. We were able to lower their numbers more, leaving them with only 2 Dittos and Claydol for Zan's side and Crawdaut and Camerupt for Malcom's. Our numbers though had diminished considerably too.
The only pokemon I still had available were Feraligatr and Ruby's Milotic, while the only ones in Blue's were her Blastoise, the Castform, and Mightyena. So, right now, it was 5 against 5. And still a stalemate. There was no way we could finish this battle soon enough without usong our ultimate attacks, but even if we did… they could transform he Ditto's and Absorb the attack. If that happened, it meant an instantaneous loss of the battle.
The problem was that we couldn't really do much more than that, and with the variety of pokemon we had available, our attacks were very limited. We were locked into Water, Normal, Dark, Ice and some Fire attacks, while they had all the pokemon types and abilities to choose from. In fact, only transforming into and Electric or a Grass pokemon did the trick for them since we had no easy way to hurt them.
And so they did. After doing the instantaneous transformation trick for a while, they had decided to transform their pokemon into a Cacturne and an Electabuzz and they bombarded us with their electric and cover attacks. The Milotic had already been Paralized by Electabuzz, which activated its Marvel Scale ability, but was a problem nonetheless. Blasty was almost exhausted, the same as Feraligatr. Luckily the Castform had been able to injure the electric types using its Weather ball and the Mightyena was keeping the Crawdaunt occupied.
-Silver!- was Blue's shout.
I had spaced out and I was about to pay for it when I noticed a Thunderbolt come my way. At that moment the Castform placed in between me and the attack and cancelled it with a Weather ball. The problem came when, from below, the Crawdaunt used Guillotine on it, effectively KO'ing it. That didn't last long though, since he engulfed by an orange beam.
Nana had used Hyperbeam, effectively knocking it out, just before using Sucker Punch on the Camerupt that was about to attack it. Since all the pokemon on the field were incredibly tired, this was all it took to KO another pokemon. But it seemed that all the action that had not happened in the last hour was happening in a matter of seconds since a Thunder Punch on its back was the cause of Nana knocked unconscious too.
So now with a 3 vs 3, things were not looking good at all, even more if we take into account that our only pokemon remaining were water types. We had no other choice, but to do it now. The pokemons position was the best possible.
-Milotic, Haze!- I commanded- it's now or never Blue!
-I know! Blasty, Feral!- she always put weird names to the pokemon- position!
After the Haze covered the entire field, both Blasty and Feraligatr positioned themselves in the field like we've practiced over and over. We would normally use Explotaro's Smokescreen so using only fog to do it, would only make it easier.
-Hydrocannon!- we shouted at the same time.
From the start of the Haze to the attack only 10 seconds had passed, but we were only hoping that we had been fast enough so they didn't have time to react. If they did… it was over.
The positions of our pokemon created a pincer attack around their enemies. When the smoke cleared we looked inside and the only thing I saw was that the Cacturne laid unconscious. Suddenly though, Blasty began to glow in a purple light and fainted immediately after that. I knew what had happened, they had used Destiny Bond on it just before the attack came, and they had told the others to evade the attacks. And the worst part is that… they had been able to do it.
-It's over!- said Zan then, when I felt a hand, Malcom's, around my neck- it's 2 vs 2, but you lost the only chance you had.
-It is, but for you!- said another voice before I heard a metal sound and the hand on my neck loosened its grip.
Both Blue and I turned around to see 3 officers with 2 pokemon each stand behind us. One had handcuffed Malcom and was holding him, while the other 2 positioned in our sides. I breathed with relief… it was really over. There was no way that 8 pokemon in our side were going to lose against the only two that Zan had.
-It really is over- said Blue- now let's finish this!
Sapphire's POV
I've never wanted to finish a battle so hard in my life. Not only because of all the things that were at stake in this moment, the battle, the war and probably the fate of the whole world… It didn't care about that. I cared way more about my friends, fighting a monster so strong that they couldn't win even if they were 3 people plus their pokemon against it. I cared about Rub, that boy that was fighting it while he should've been in a hospital room, resting or getting treatment.
And yeah, I was tired. So much. Tired of battling the same pokemon over and over again, while my pokemon became more tired and the battles were becoming longer and longer. But most of all, just tired. I didn't have my usual energy, the one that allows me to move really fast or be active all day. I could hardly think, and when battling that pokemon, the Sa… that Salamence, the one who killed Ruby… I needed all the energy I had to fight it. Ruby died to this pokemon, Rub almost did after battling it… and I was almost able to do beat it before Kyogre healed it.
-Red, how much more?- I asked.
-I don't know…- he said- watch out!
-Toro, dodge and Brick break! Pilo, use Magical leaf on the Salamence!
Wait… only wait. This battle was a stalemate, it had been one for minutes, and the ones that were losing were us. We couldn't continue like that. But what to do in that case? What could I do? What do I have to do? Think Sapphire, think! But that was the problem, my tiredness didn't allow me to do it while battling as well as I could. So, I decided to think what would the others do.
Crystal, Green and Red would do the same, wait for an opening. Silver would tell Red to try something crazy while he took charge of the defense. Gold would do something unexpected for everyone, Emerald would do something similar and Blue would have a back-up plan for this. And Ruby… he would have had a back up plan all along, having seen this as a possibility. And not only the plan would be unexpected, it would involve only him and it would work. They all did, without fail. At least for us…
After that I saw Red Knock out Armaldo again and the Alakazam came and took him to Marchie again. To Marchie, to the sphere… wait, that's it! Unexpected, secret and simple… almost a perfect mixture of a plan made by Ruby and my simple-mind.
-Toro, Blaze Kick on the Aggron!- I commanded.
Having Rono as one of my partners, I know every characteristic there is to know about them and I used that to my advantage. They are strong, but with the speed Toro has, it will be very difficult for him to land a hit. Of course, the Aggron was not our only concern, but Pilo was battling amazingly against the blue dragon, probably taking this battle as a revenge one from that terrible night.
The Aggron defended himself, not bothering with such an attack, but when I asked Toro to attack him with a super effective Sky Uppercut, it did defend using Iron Tail. Using its agility as a weapon, Toro kept running around him, putting pressure on the highly defensive pokemon and landing some hits. As for the other part, the Salamence was the only pokemon that had not been defeated so it was the one that was more tired.
That aerial battle was a sight to be seen. The Salamence had landed some attacks on Pilo, but the same could be said about Pilo and I still had that little surprise for him. As the battle continued my anxiousness kept rising alongside my confidence. Now I knew how they felt and how they could be confident even with the riskiest plans. As you see them progressing as you want, your confidence grows, making it easier for the next part to continue well. The problem though, was that I had very little time to do it.
-Rono, another Sky Uppercut!- I yelled and then, what I was expecting happened.
Their speed difference was so high that the Aggron was receiving damage without landing a hit, and Toro was damaging all the parts of his body. That is why it felt like he was receiving hits from every part of his body for the metallic pokemon. That's why, in order to defend and get a break to change the momentum of the battle it used one of the hardest Metal Sound attacks I've ever heard.
I could do nothing, but cover my ears, but it still hurt. But that was the damage I was looking for… Having one I had trained all my pokemon to be able to fight under that sound for a short period of time, while it was clear that the other pokemon in the area had not done the same. The Salamece stopped attacking and Pilo got an advantage for a second. Using its Aerial Ace attack, it slammed on the Salamence positioning him just above Walo.
-Water Spout!- I yelled hoping for the pokemon to hear me.
The pokemon did hear me, and attacked. Being a dragon type I was so sure that this pokemon was not going to be defeated by it, but that was not a problem. Pilo is special, my dad said it when he gave it to me and he was right. It took us months, almost a year to accomplish it, but I did it. We did it. Pilo was one of the very few Triopius that knew that move!
-PIlo now! Use Outrage!
After the Salamence was caught in the Water Spout and was still regaining its balance midair, he was slammed by my PIlo engulfed in dark blue flames. Not only he was hit once, but Pilo came back for a second hit before falling to the sea. And even there Pilo came down crashing on it for the third and last time before KO'ing our mighty foe. Seeing Pilo's eyes turn red I returned him to the pokeball before running towards the edge of Walo and towards the blue dragon.
-That was amazing Sapphire! Wait, what are you…
I couldn't hear anything else before I jumped into the Water. I saw the Salamence floating before a white light appeared and Alakazam was by his side. As they both glowed white for a second, I reached out for them, trying to reach that pokemon. And then everything was in slow motion.
I suddenly appeared on top of Kyogre and after slamming down on him I noticed that I was just a couple meters away from Marchie and the sphere. Only two meters away, but as I tried to get close to it, I was suddenly found myself unable to move engulfed in a purple light. Alakazam had used Psychic on me, not allowing any movement.
"And I thought that I had gotten rid of you!- said a voice I knew too well- that is not a mistake I will be doing again!"
-Solar Beam!- I hear Rub's voice command from the shore.
As I saw that massive green beam approach I cowered in fear for a moment, before realizing that it was not aimed for us. Kyogre was already collecting water for another Hydropump, but when the beam collided with the water just a few meters away from it, an enormous wave was created. The wave made Alakazam loose its focus for a second and I was free, once a massive multicolored and rotating beam was launched towards us. Using a speed I thought it was uncapable of, Kyogre created a massive sphere of water in front of it and launched another massive torrent of water.
The shock wave that was created by that collision almost threw me out of the giant whale monster and even destroyed some buildings at the other side of the battle. With both the Salamence still defeated, and Alakazam struggling not to fly away, I used the last bit of my strength to run towards the immobile body of Marchie and get the sphere out of him. I was so close when I jumped towards it, and my hand was only a few centimeters away, when I was stopped midair again by Alakazam.
I tried moving, I was close I could even feel the weird heat that was emanating form it, that couldn't end like that. And surprisingly, it didn't. It started slowly at first, when I thought that I was imagining Marchie inch his body closer to me. And then, suddenly, I was touching the sphere with two fingers and then it happened. I was engulfed in a blue light that destroyed the Psychic attack that was keeping me floating.
As I came in contact with it, I felt a massive heat and comfort rise from my right hand through every inch of my body. All the tiredness I felt before seemed to vanish in a mater of seconds and some unusual comfort ran through me, like I was reuniting with something I was missing. When I opened my eyes all I could see was the same color blue I had seen before, and I was scared for a second, but in just a second that sight disappeared, only to see myself atop Kyogre in the same situation as before.
"That changed nothing human!- said Kyogre's voice- You couldn't control me before and you won't do it now!
I don't know where all my confidence came then, but I smiled. I had no reason to, but I did it… I remembered those words Rub told Kyogre just some hours ago: "Sapphire's willpower is unlimited and you can not win!"
-Stop!- I yelled, and as soon as I did, some lines glowed in my arms and they tingled for a split second.
The same split second that passed before Kyogre stopped the attack with a halt. As soon as it did, the massive combined attack collided with us, sending both Kyogre and everything that stood on top of it backwards and into the sea.
As it can be expected, all that was on top of Kyogre was thrown into the sea. Alakazam Teleported quickly with Salamence, and after the first shock I was able to swim upwards again without much difficulty. As I resurfaced I noticed that Walo was just some feet away, with Red sitting on top of it. When I approached them he offered his hand and helped me climb, which I did without much effort.
-That was amazing!- he said with a smile- reckless, but amazing!
I smiled, but quickly looked around me in order to look at what Kyogre was up to. I felt nervous for a second when I didn't see the monster so I did what came to my mind.
-Surface!- I commanded.
At first, nothing happened, but after some seconds Kyogre's shadow came into view before the monster was in plain view. I noticed that Marchie was floating just between the monster and myself. Seeing him there, just floating, unable to do anything… arose one of my lowest instincts. This person had done us so much damage… Kidnapped, killed Ruby… tortured us mentally and threatened the whole world. And I could just let him drown, or maybe even…
But it all changed when I noticed Kyogre charging another attack, this time aimed at our enemy, Marchie. For a second I did nothing, almost thinking that it was unavoidable, but before I even knew I was doing it, my mouth was moving.
-Don't! Stop the attack!- I commanded and the giant whale pokemon stopped the attack in its tracks immediately.
"This lowly human controlled ME!-resonated Kyogre's voice- There is no way I'm going to let this pass up!"
-You will not kill him or anyone else, not while I am your controller- I said when I saw Red place himself by my side.
"Isn't this the guy that caused you so much pain?- was Kyogre's voice now- you must want revenge! He is the one that has caused all the nightmares you've got. All the restless nights, all the fears… this man broke you!"
-He did, I was broken- I said- but not anymore. I healed, thanks to my friends, family, and myself… and now I am stronger than ever! And as the controller of the seas, I won't let you hurt anyone in my presence.
"You are just too weak to dirty your hands- it said- just ask me to do it. it's the only thing I will willingly do for you, controller!"
-I told you to shut up!- I said- I am not like you! I hate this man, but it's not me who will decide what to do with him. Justice will. Now stop all this!
"That has to be the lamest speech I have ever heard…"
-It would be lame if she didn't believe those words with all her soul- Rub's voice was resonating inside my head- As I said before, there is no way you could control her forever. You've never had a controller like her.
I smiled at that point. I looked at Red, who told Saur to get Marchie with its vines. I soon realized that the rain had stopped and the hottest sun I've ever been under was quickly drying our clothes.
-It's over Sapphire- he said sitting down on Walo.
-It finally is…- I said sitting down next to him- I'm sorry you had to do all this for me.
-Don't even mention it- he said- there was no way we were going to leave you with Marchie. I had never anticipated I would be involved in this kind of battle though…
-It really seems like too much…- I told him- Marchie, Kyogre and Groudon… seems like a story written from a mad man. And it all happened in such a short time.
-That's tr…- he said before taking his PokeGear out- shit!
-What?- I asked surprised by his outburst.
-You were taken around 10 o'clock right?- he asked and I nodded- It must be the sun that Groudon created that we didn't notice it. But yeah… we've been fighting non-stop pretty much all day...
-What?- I said and when I looked at mine I saw that it was almost 11.30 pm.
-I really need to rest… and now I actually know why- he said with a laugh before touching and examining his right leg.
We were quickly approaching the shore, anticipation visible in Red's features. Due to my developed sight I was able to distinguish the shapes of Green and Crystal on the shore, while some others approached them from the left. I quickly determined that they were Blue and Silver, and that they were helping two other figures. Yellow's golden hair was on Blue's back, while Silver and Emerald were helping Gold stand.
As we arrived to the shore Red jumped fast and ran towards them, towards Yellow, and Crystal was already with Gold, who was sitting around. It was really over. As I approached them slowly, I looked upwards to the giant monster and the boy atop it before taking out Pilo's pokeball.
-So Sapphire was the MVP this time, huh?- said Gold with a tired grin with Crystal still hugging him from the side and her head on his shoulder- you really shouldn't be that reckless.
-Look who is talking!- was Crystal's comment before whacking his head upside down. A much needed laugh was heard then.
- I was the cause you all had to do this and I am really sorry. I was not the MVP nor the most reckless of us- I said- the real MVP is the one standing atop Groudon, Rub.
This said I sent Pilo out and I climbed on top of him.
-And since it will be difficult for him to descend all alone, I'm going to bring him down- I said- be back in a sec.
-Just be sure to tell him everything- said Blue winking, before Red approached her.
As I climbed on top of my Tropius I looked at my friends. Gold and Crystal were sitting together, Blue and Green were looking at me, Red took Yellow from Blue who looked at me with Green by his side and Emerald and Silver looking upwards. I smiled before taking flight.
I know Pilo knew my thoughts because the speed in which I was able to reach him was amazing. Not that I was complaining. As I arrived behind where Rub was and I was about to descend on top of Groudon's head when the massive monster shifted.
-No!- said Rub's voice.
-Rub?- I said tentatively- It's over, we won!
When I got no response though I was surprised. He was still sitting in the same position as before, looking towards the sea. When I commanded Pilo to circle around it and came face to face with him I saw that he was looking down, his own shadow blocking the view of his face.
-Rub? Are you okay?- I asked when I noticed that smell. A smell I knew so well, from that night when I had to clean his wounds when going towards the hospital. The smell of blood.
When I was about to jump to Groudon's head to check on him, Rub stood up in one motion.
-Get away from me!- he shouted in a fierce and angry voice.
I was left speechless by his outburst when he rose his face to look at me… and I panicked. Aside from his tried and painful expression, red lines covered it almost completely and his eyes. His left eye was completely red, but not his usual red. It was shining, just like mine had just a few hours ago. And his right eye… was slowly being covered by the same color.
-I'm sorry- he managed to say reaching his right hand towards me.
And with those words, his right eye became completely red as a powerful earthquake beneath us.
- I wanted to do it… bu-but… I'm sorry…- he said before smiling evilly- The boy lost.
And there you have it. I hope you loved the chapter and don't be confused by all the different chage in POV. I loved writing this, when I actually did do it.
We are nearing the end of the fic, in chapters anyway... for all you know this may not be finished this time next year, but I will make my best effort to try and not make it that long.
Before I finish let me say Merr Christmas again and I hope you all have an amazing year. Thanks to all of you and my editor LC5 for correcting the mistakes I do, he knows they are a lot.
