Naruto
The sound of distant oceans can be heard from afar, as men, tools, and my clones are constructing what can be described as a modern marvel; even to the standard of my previous world. The bridge that Tazuna-san is making is truly a large undertaking for these people, a bridge that carries hope, a bridge that will connect this island to its future. While Tazuna-san is building the physical embodiment of that future, I'm teaching the conscious mind of this country, its future leader, and my future ally.
"If there's monetary inflation. Did I say it right?"
"Yes," I answered Inari. That future leader is currently sitting on the grassy embankment next to the under-constructed bridge cross-legged with ink and paper surrounding us. His face is painted with ink, his hand dotted with ink looking at me with curious eyes.
"What should I do to curb it?" Inari asked. 'That was surprisingly another good question from him.' It's been two days since I've taught Inari the basics of how to be a good leader. It's not going to be effective because of how short of a time I have to educate him, but it can make a good foundation for Inari so he can expand on his own.
"Well, the subject of monetary inflation is a new thing the elemental nation is studying right now, because of what happened to Kirigakure when the war ended. So not many people know how to curb inflation…."
"Well, that sucks. So Wave can't be saved from inflation yet." He grits his teeth. "Can Wave even be saved from it in my generation?" He said in frustration.
"I'm not done talking yet." He just cut me off before I explained more, rude! "But I'm not most people," I say with a smirk. Inari blinked in disbelief.
"You know how to curb inflation?!" He said with astonishment and awe. "But you said it's a new subject that the elemental nation is still learning how to!" Elemental nation not earth my dear boy.
"That doesn't mean I don't already know the solution." Thank you youtube. "Want to hear about it?" Note to self make this into a book and be rich.
"Yes," Inari said excitedly.
"You remembered about supply and demand I taught you yesterday?"
"Ehhhh…" Oh, cmon I just taught him this yesterday. Well, to be fair, cramming what is essentially a lifelong education in under 5 days is almost impossible, if it weren't for Inari's determination the almost part would be removed. So much talent and potential just oozed from him, it's sad that I can only teach him so much before I left him but at least he can expand with the foundation I'm giving him.
"Open your note," I said exasperated. At least I instructed him to be more organized.
"Oh." He scratches his head in embarrassment. "Supply and demand are more goods, low demand equals low price and scarcity of goods, high demand equals high price?" That is too simplistic.
"Too simplistic, but at least you worded it in your way." That's a sign that at least he understands the basic outline of the thing I'm teaching him. "The concept of supply and demand can also be implemented with the concept of money." A moment of realization can be seen in Inari.
"Wait, so if the market was flooded with money the value of money would drop when we want to buy bread!!! Because there are too many of them!!!" He blurted. 'Wow, he sure does catch it real fast.'
"Kinda true, technically correct, but still wrong. While the circulation of money is good for the economy, too much can be bad. The opposite is also true when there is too little money circulating in the economy. By implementing the same concept of supply and demand; we can also artificially raise the value of our currency. Can you tell me what it is?" I asked him this question so he can find his own conclusion. while telling him all the basic
"Uhh, stock of gold?" Ehh maybe no definitely not. There's a reason why the U.S abandon gold as the basis of the U.S dollar.
"No, I'll give you a hint; foreign currency and exports." He looked more confused hearing my explanation. Yet he tried to find something to solve the problem. With hesitation, he finally speaks.
"If we focus our economy on export and value-adding industry by using foreign currency and use that for ring current to strengthen our currency by exchanging it?" Well, that's an improvement in the use of logic.
"A plus for you," I said with a smile. Inari celebrated by doing a fist pump.
"Yes~" childish but cute.
"Naruto!!" We both turn our heads to see Izuna-san shout at us from on top of the bridgehead. "We're done for today, dispel your clone and let's go back home." Recognizing Tazuna instruction. I dispelled all of my clones and the memory started to flood into my mind. 'Damn it, it's still hard getting used to it, I really need to contact Kyuubi when I meet Jiraiya.'
"C'mon Inari, let's go back to your house."
"But I still have so many questions!" He whined
"We can talk about it while we're walking," I said to him.
"Oh… why didn't I think about that." I ruffled his hair. He looked at me annoyed.
"Don't overthink it, let's just go back to your house." He nodded, stood up, and started to pack up the paper and pen holding them on his chest. We made our way to the bridge entrance to see Tazuna talking to one of the workers.
"I'm sorry Tazuna, but I can't take it anymore. Those thugs are pestering my family, if I continue to work on this bridge I fear Gato will… harm them." He gulped. "I don't have Shinobi protection like you, I can't take the risk." Tazuna takes a resigned sigh.
"I understand, you can go, Haruki. I will not force you to choose between yourself and your family." Said Tazuna.
"But who will take the share of my work?" The newly named Haruki asked. He seemed reluctant to quit the job.
"I'll ask Naruto more of his clones to help and to cover your share," Tazuna answered him.
"Or maybe I can help you also with the thugs that have been threatening your family." Both of their heads turn toward me not expecting me to be involved in the conversation. "Haruki, right?"
The man nodded in information with slight confusion. "What do you mean by helping me?"
"Well, I've been trying to rid the town of some of its criminal elements, I've only destroyed a couple of them in a fight." Both of them widen their eyes comically.
"Wait, that was you!!" Haruki said in fear.
"What?" That's a weird reaction from both of them. I'm wondering what the fuss is all about. "Did I do something wrong? By fighting those bandits?" I asked both of them.
"That was not a fight, boy, what's wrong with your head?! You've crucified all of them!!" Said Tazuna. 'Just like the Romans intended.'
"Well, it left them a very strong message. That's why I was a little surprised when there were still some bandits brave enough to commit a crime when they knew I was here." People that don't feel fear when being showcased that wanton brutality is highly unusual even if those outlaws are uneducated. That can only mean two things: 1. They're a fucking dumbasses (it's just one swear I'll cover it with a donation.) 2. They're highly competent, have some wildcards, or are extremely motivated and loyal which is not a good thing. While I want to believe the former to be true, Danzo training kicks in. 'Always assume the worst.'
"You are messed up in the head, kid. Are all child soldiers like you?" Said Tazuna. 'Nope unless you were partly trained by Danzo. Just like me. Every Saturday after evening.'
"Nope, only certain kinds of child soldiers." Cough cough Root. "So do you want my help or not?" Tazuna-san whispers something to Haruki.
"Haruki, I think you shouldn't let the crazy psycho child-killing soldiers wait for you any longer, just tell him, man!" But I can hear it because I'm a ninja. 'Huh, a rare glimpse of what civilians think of us.'Haruki nodded and promptly told me everything about the bandits from their location, face, etc.
"Is that all?" I asked him.
"Yes," he answered.
"Good." I made a shadow clone, and that clone immediately made his way to the bandits' location. "You don't have to worry anymore Mr. Haruki, the problem is already dealt with." The man visibly disturbed by how easily the problem is being dealt with can only nod in discomfort. He then left the construction site with cold sweat.
"You're a scary person, niisan." I then looked at Inari.
"An unwanted side effect because of my occupation," I said solemnly. While some people and myself said that I'm an idealist. Deep down I know I'm a realist with some idealistic beliefs. That realist part of me is strengthened by Danzo. But I've always tried to look at any problem with idealism even if the realist part of me always screamed in retaliation. So I've always tried to satisfy both my opposing sides.
Inari is one of those examples: for my idealistic side it's to help a child become better so he can lead his country to prosperity, but my realist side looks at it as me cultivating future puppets. In some ways I despise my realistic side; even if I know it was crucial for me in the future.
We walked through the village market while being begged by children for food. Tazuna-san seems already used to it and mostly ignores them but I can see hints of frustration as he can't help them. While I already know what to expect from Wave. Pulled out a premade sealing scroll made by the village sealing division, unrolled it, and channel my chakra to reveal food for them. Their eyes sparkled with hope.
I've known the condition of Wave for years. What? Of course, I'll give food to the poor, it's a recurring and important theme that has been written in the holy text of God. But enough of that, I felt a tug in my right white shirt, expecting more orphans. I was surprised to find it was Inari."So, are there any more questions you want to ask me?"
"Well, I want to ask something but it isn't about what you're teaching me," Inari said
"What Is it?"
"Why did you just send one clone to the bandit camp? Isn't it better for you to be there in person?" Huh, I've taught him only about the basics of basics and here he is asking something complex with a clear suggestion.
"Scouting in case the camp was a trap, reconnaissance, overkill, and most important of all, im guarding your grandpa." I can't just leave the client alone, unprotected just because of a mere bandit camp. My clone would fare better while doing it efficiently.
"I guess that makes sense." Said Inari
When we arrived at Tazuna's house I could see from the pier that Niisan was training Satsuki on the water walking exercise. Satsuki's eyes darted to me, her face turned red and her body immediately dived into the water.
"Wagh!" Niisan, seemingly confused at Satsuki's failure, also looked at me. And motioning with his hand telling me to go inside the house so I can't distract Satsuki. I put my thumbs up acknowledging the order.
At this point, there's no denying that Satsuki liked me. I've always thought that Satsuki isn't that kind of girl and I expect her to brush off the incidents yesterday and move on. Except she didn't. She stole glances to look at me, she sometimes failed to form cohesive sentences when talking with me, and those eyes. I've never thought that much about her eyes. But when she unlocked her Sharingan, I started to think about the gaze she was giving me. She always looked at me endearingly. I've always thought it was because I'm the only one inside the village that understands her.
'She liked me.' I don't know how to feel about that. She's a child. I don't care about the technicality of me also being a child, I'm a full-grown adult damn it.
Putting that thought aside, I entered the house to find Tsunami-san making some food. 'Where's sakura?'
"Tsunami-san, where's Sakura?" She turned her attention to me for a moment.
"Oh, she's guarding Haku again today." And back to the food.
'They seem close. I've wondered what happened to them.' It's weird that Sakura seems to talk more with Haku lately.
Inari enters his room while Tazuna goes to the bathroom to clean himself. Sitting on the floorboard I ate some snacks on top of the table while tapping on it. Tsunamis-san gave me water to drink.
"So how's Inari?" She asked
"He's progressing really well." Tsunami smiled and nodded in approval.
"Good to hear," she left me to prepare the dish she was making. I just continue to eat the snacks.
Waiting
doing nothing
'I've just realized how uneventful my day is besides teaching Inari.' Well, that sucks.
" I Hate You!!"
'What' I heard Satsuki scream from outside and immediately stood up to investigate.
Pop
I widened my eyes when the influx of new memories came to my mind.
'Well, that's interesting.'
Kakashi
"Wagh!" A raven-haired girl sunk to the water below her feet.
Splash
'Yeah, she's definitely not focused right now.' I think to myself. 'I wonder why she's been making good progress lat- ah that's why. Goddamnit Naruto.' I shooed him with my hand and Naruto just thumbed up and entered the house.
A splash of water hit my mask. A hand is holding the edge of the pier. Satsuki appeared from the water, panting while half her body was hugging the pier with dear life.
"You're out of focus again." She didn't respond, instead choosing to fill her lungs with air. 'Smart girl.'
Her breathing calmed, she then pulled out the rest of her body to make it lay on the pier.
"So what's the reason this time?" Her face turned red and looked away from me.
"I was distracted," she said in typical tsundere fashion.
"Ehm, yeah sure," I said with a straight face. "And why are you distracted? Wait let me guess is it because of a certain incident, involving a certain blond boy? Hmm."
"I hate you Kakashi." She said with a glare.
"I love you too, emo girl." Her glare sharpened when I said the word emo. "You have to be focused. Zabuza is going to attack tomorrow."
"You don't have the right! To lecture me it's your fault!" She stands up while pointing at me.
"I'll admit maybe my suggestion to you is too fast, but at least I made you understand your feelings?"
"Did I tell you that I hate you, Kakashi?" Said Satsuki.
"Multiple times, but I'm starting to forget," I said with a one-eye smile.
"Good. I HATE YOU!!!" Well, that was loud.
"Thanks for the reminder." Satsuki gave up and relaxed her hand.
"Nissan! Is there a problem!! I've heard Satsuki screaming." How romantic it seems Naruto does like her. I looked back at Satsuki to tease both of them only to see Satsuki pointing at me again.
"Ahh. I thought it was something related to Zabuza." He said with relief. I gave Naruto the look of hohoh.
"What?" He asked
"Nothing," I said with a chuckle.
"Whatever Doesn't Matter, I think Zabuza is on the island."
What
"Did something wrong happen!?" Now Sakura is showing up.
"Zabuza is on the island," Naruto repeated the same information to Sakura
"What?"
"You heard me I sai-"
"I heard what you said, why the hell is Zabuza here so fast?! You said we had until tomorrow!" Said Sakura.
"Naruto, can you tell me what happened step by step?" I asked him.
"Well…."
Flashback
Naruto clone
Hoping from rooftop to rooftop I made my way to the location Haruki has given me, to an abandoned house. Not trying to complicate the matter of just trying to take out bandits, I kicked the front door only to see Zabuza polishing his sword. He seemed to be still wounded but mostly healed from the fight. The room is dark with only one light source behind my back.
We just stare at each other.
Clang
"Well, this is awkward." He immediately swung his overly sized sword at me. I managed to parry it when I materialized Excalibur to block it. 'He's pushing me.'
"Where's Haku!?" He asked me aggressively. We disengaged and made our stances. Zabuza is strong but that's nothing compared to the strike he used when he attacked us the first time. That doesn't mean I have a chance of winning.
"I can't tell you that." I widened my eyes as Zabuza tried to slash me this time with more force. 'There's no way I can parry that, the kinetic force of that swing plus the size of that sword is too much.'
I dodge to the left, the sword hits the floor destroying the floorboard chunks and splinters of wood flying into the air with his face glaring at me. 'The place is too tight for a sword duel for me. I have no experience using it in a CQB situation.' Exiting from the door with a chakra-powered leap while mid-air a kunai flew from the door aimed at my face. I block it with Excalibur. But my landing suffered and I rolled from the ground roughly with civilians watching me stunned.
"You're inexperienced, your blade is too short for a realistic duel, and that thing is too flashy." Zabuza emerged from the dark walking menacingly with his sword. Hearing his advice I turned the Excalibur from a broadsword to a long sword. Zabuza chuckled seeing my act.
"Good, you're listening to someone more experienced than you. Unfortunately, you're not going to live using said advice to another opponent." He kept walking. Amusement can clearly be heard from his voice.
"I'm a clone." He stopped, and his face morphed into annoyance. "Before you pop me, did you take this mission to fund a new rebellion?"
"That is not one of your concerns, boy." He said angrily.
"You're outnumbered and still wounded. We have Haku as a hostage. I think you should surrender. Besides, we can make you as rich as Gato." Zabuza was confused by my statement.
"Don't make me laugh, you make me as rich as Gato. Keep dreaming boy." He said.
"One word, tea country." At first, he was confused but then his face widened in realization.
"You're joking right, that kind of favor needs someone from the highest level of leadership in Konoha. I don't think a mere genin has that much influence." He snorted.
"You'd be surprised. Maybe I should state my name first. Uzumaki Naruto, nice to meet you. I am the preferred heir of the third Hokage." I said with a grin.
"So you're the kid that the Hokage takes to meet the Fire country daimyo. Your talent makes sense now. But still What's in it for you?" He asked.
"We can discuss this further if you want to negotiate." He seemed interested.
"How do I know if you're not lying?"
"You can meet Haku while we're negotiating," I said with a grin.
"Meeting?"
"Tomorrow, Just ask the locals about Tazuna's house."
"We have a deal, boy." The last thing I see is a giant sword decapitating me.
Kakashi
"Naruto, I think I find a big flaw in your plan." Said Satsuki. "How can we make Zabuza as rich as Gato?" That is a good point. He only says something about tea.
"I'll make it simple. Tea country, a puppet of Konoha, Gato's companies are based there, ownership, and loopholes." He said with a smile
"That doesn't even make sen-"
"You're a genius Naruto. A fucking genius; if your plan works we can have another ally in Kiri." I cut off Sakura.
"So we're following Naruto's plan?" Asked Satsuki.
"Yes. It's too good to pass on."
Next day
Naruto
"I don't think this is a good idea." Said Tazuna," he's going to kill me."
"No, he's not, maybe." Said naruto.
"That doesn't inspire confidence," Tazuna said with a blank face
The five of us are sitting at the table with one spot missing someone. Kakashi and I are next to the spot flanking it while Sakura sits next to me, Satsuki is next to Kakashi and Tazuna is in front of the spot. While Haku he's being tied up with one of my chains.
A knock on the front door can be heard. Tsunami opened it to reveal Zabuza. "Oh, my," Tsunami said while holding her mouth. "Can I help you?"
"I'm here to negotiate." Zabuza's eyes darted to the table. "It seems you keep your promise boy." He looks at Haku for a moment and then sits down on the floor.
"Let me make this fast. I want Haku to be free right now." Niisan looked at me and I nodded. I use one-hand signs and the chains that entangled Haku dissipate. "That is an extremely overpowered Kekkei Genkai." Sakura agrees with Zabuza, why?
Haku stands up and moves his way behind Zabuza. 'It's getting cramped here.'
"So do you agree with this alliance?" Niisan asked.
"Yes, I'll agree with this, the rebellion can finally have enough money to siege Kirigakure proper." Said Zabuza.
"Siege? Does the rebellion not care about fighting the main force and the 4th Mizukage?" Said niisan.
"The Mizukage is dead, killed by Itachi Uchiha." He looked at Satsuki. "Your brother isn't he?"
"He's no one to me," Satsuki said With spite.
"So how are we going to do this?" Asked Zabuza.
"You will first help us kill Gato, accompany us back to Konoha then the Hokage will negotiate with you," I said.
"That reminded me, does your Kage know about this deal?"
"I've already sent the Hokage a letter yesterday via summons, he responded with haste, and he seemed to agree with our negotiation. There was some change in the original impromptu proposal." Said Kakashi.
"And that is?"
"We will split the companies in half for one village," Niisan said. Logical. There's no way Konoha would not try to find something to profit from this deal.
"I can agree with that condition. Is that it?"
"Yes," said Kakashi.
"Good, I think this will lead to a lasting partnership."
