Conan grimaced, rubbing his head where Mouri Kogoro had hit him a few minutes ago. The old man was annoying to deal with, the constant hits to the head weren't really helping his situation either. It'd been three weeks since he'd gotten shrunk by those men in black, yet following the stupid detective around had led him to no clues about them so far.
The shrunken teen left the office, not wanting to listen to his childhood friend scold her father for hitting him, again. Ran would never be able to get through to the guy, he'd just get another hit the next time he was forced to intervene in one of Kogoro's cases. Conan didn't remember the guy being that quick to hit him the first time he was a child, so that was good.
Deciding to stay with Ran and her father had been a quick decision that'd been prompted by his crazy inventor of a neighbour Hiroshi Agasa, more commonly called Agasa-Hakase or just Hakase. Being close to cases was by no doubt a boon, but Conan was seriously starting to wonder if it was worth the trouble. He already became involved with cases enough of the time without Kogoro's influence.
Deep in thought, Conan hadn't even realized that he'd walked all the way to Beika park until he was already sitting on a bench. The boy blinked, surprised before glowering at the ground. He wasn't in a good mood. Being stuck as a kid sucked.
"Does that bump on your head have anything to do with why you're looking so scary kid?" An old man asked, having sat down beside the tiny sleuth without said sleuth noticing.
Conan shook his head, plastering a cheery childish smile onto his face "No, I'm just dreading doing my homework mister" The man looked to be around his seventies, skin wrinkled a fair amount and his hair was completely grey, looking thin in a few parts. He was dressed in casual grey slacks and a slightly baggy black long sleeved shirt with a pale green backpack slung over his shoulders.
The man hummed in thought, brown eyes gleaming with something that Conan couldn't seem to read "Understandable, your brain must be leaking out your ears" The tone was teasing "I would absolutely hate being forced to go through kiddy school again... Not that I've even gone a first time that is" The man laughed a deep laugh as the boy seemed to stiffen beside him "Am I right Kudo-kun?" His voice was low, just barely audible.
Azure widened as Conan took in a sharp breath, heart thrumming fiercely as fear began to ice it's way through his veins "My name is Conan!" He chirped, hand inching towards his wristwatch. How had he been found out? It hasn't even been a month since he'd shrunk! Hopefully he'd be able to get this guy with the tranquillizer dart that his watch could shoot.
Chuckling, the man just smiled "There's a lot of bushes around this bench, unless you want everyone you know about to die, you should play nice" His tone was deceptively friendly "There's no point in trying to arrest me, I've already informed the higher ups" The boy's eyes were wide with fear "You're the only one we want, our reach is very far" Brown eyes narrowed sharply "Fingerprints aren't something that can always be hidden" He shrugged "And I have nothing incriminating on my person"
Fingerprints... Conan's face soured with tension, the man was right, they had undeniable proof of his identity. He should have called his parents for help, his dad's connections could have switched things up in the system. Mouth dry, Conan spoke "How will I know that you won't just kill everyone anyways?" There was a red dot on his own chest, a sniper?
"It's hard to keep a large group hidden, unnecessary deaths would just draw unneeded attention" The man paused "Unless you've told someone?"
Conan quickly shook his head "I haven't!" Hakase... "That's why old man Mouri keep hitting me! He thinks I'm a kid!" He was suddenly grateful for the lump that Kogoro had given him that day.
"What about that neighbour of yours?"
Fearful, Conan forced himself to not give anything away "I'd be easier to live with him than the Mouri's, but he doesn't know anything either"
"Very true"
Before Conan could react, a sharp needle was suddenly jabbed into his arm. There wasn't enough time for him to even panic before he slouched against the man, unconscious.
"Well, that was a lot easier than I expected it to be" The man's voice lightened to one belonging to a seventeen year old male as said male picked the boy up, zip tied his hands and feet, applied tape over Conan's mouth, then gently stuffed the boy into his backpack, leaving it a bit open for air flow. He then tore off his mask and arm latex covers to reveal his actual skin.
Kaito huffed, it really shouldn't have been that easy to do. Hacking the cameras and using tiny drones to point a laser at the other's chest really shouldn't have worked. People were so complacent, kidnapping tiny children shouldn't be easy... It was worrying. Well, Kaito checked his phone, he had around an hour or two before the tiny detective was due to wake up. That should be plenty enough time to return back home with his newly acquired package.
He rolled up his sleeves before pressing a button on the bands that he wore around each wrist. His crutches extended from a small device he wore around his arms. They were less durable than normal crutches, but the convenience his hide away ones gave him had been necessary in fooling the tiny detective.
The backpack was secured onto his back with ease before Kaito made his way away from the park. Any glances he got were ones of quick curiosity before people quickly averted their eyes in an attempt to not seem rude. Nobody suspected that he'd just kidnapped a child from a park. It wasn't until he was halfway home that he unscrambled the video feeds of Beika park and the ones surrounding within a few hundred meters.
