NEXT UPDATE is on October 17 2022

Kaito was filled with nervous energy throughout the day, drinking very little and taking multi-vitamins for his meals instead of eating proper food. He didn't have to, but Kaito preferred to have an empty system whenever he undertook a procedure for his spine. Hearing about him vomiting one too many times from the pain had eased Ginzo into allowing him to not eat. Nobody liked to vomit, especially when they were already suffering enough. To keep his stamina up, Kaito injected himself with an energy boosting serum that he'd created a few years ago.

"I'll come pick you up when calls" Ginzo breathed as Kaito's wheelchair left the van. He used to stay, but sometimes it was just too much to see Kaito suffer when the teen's reaction was too strong. It hurt him emotionally, and then Kaito would become even more hurt by feeling guilty about worrying him. Now he was to be in Kusama's care until Kaito was ready to come home. Kaito truly trusted the doctor, so in turn Ginzo trusted him to take care of Kaito.

"Kaito will be in good hands" Kusama replied softly, patting Kaito's shoulder. Hopefully this would be the last time they'd ever have to do this.

"Don't let Aoko eat my cupcakes" Kaito grinned "Just because I haven't eaten them yet, it doesn't mean that I won't eat them" Ginzo looked sad and worried, that needed to change.

Ginzo snorted "We'll see, maybe I'll have a few myself" The inspector joked before starting the van and driving off. Staying would just make it drag on and he knew Kaito didn't like that.

Once the van was out of sight, both Kaito and Kusama shared a tired look "You ready?" Kusama asked.

Kaito nodded "Yeah" With that, he allowed Kusama to lead him towards the room that was specifically made for him, it was like a normal medical room, except way out of the way and soundproof. The examination table had a soft plastic covered mattress on it, covered enough for easy cleaning, but thin enough for some of the plushness to still be felt. Kaito easily transferred himself into it, then removed both his shirt and pants before laying down on his stomach.

Kusama was busying himself with rewashing his hands and putting on a mask, gloves, and an overcoat that was clean but held a fair amount of old blood stains on it. The teen was fine with him wearing it because scrubs were expensive. He then turned towards Kaito, a new and clean scalpel in hand "One cut, like always" he stated as he approached the table, pressing a foot pedal to raise it to the right height.

"Right" Kaito closed his eyes, forcing his body to relax.

The doctor's eyes narrowed in concentration, then he quickly sliced deep into the bundle of scar tissue with practiced precision. Kaito jolted, indigos flashing open before clenching shut as his breathing picked up. Kusama took a step back, wiping the bloody scalpel as he watched the familiar arks of what looked like red lightning start sparking at the incision site.

Skin knit itself back together, at a pace that could only be explained by magic. Kusama hurriedly wiped away the blood, finishing just in time for a scream to fill the room. Navy blue softened, so it was a bad reaction this time "Bear with me for a second and open your mouth" Kaito complied, tears streaming down his face, allowing him to put in the dreaded mouth guard that he hated. Kaito was writhing now, his whole body shaking, legs jerking and spasming, reflexively. Sweat soaked his skin, skin that had paled a few shades from the pain.

Kusama sighed a sad sigh, lowering the table to allow him to crouch next to Kaito "You're doing great" There was nothing left for him to do except make sure Kaito was as comfortable as possible. Restraining Kaito always freaked the teen out, so he needed to keep watch and not let Kaito fall off of the table. Kusama removed his gloves and began to pet Kaito's hair, Kaito liked the sensation and had once admitted that it calmed him. Kaito's unruly hair was gross, already sweat soaked.

An hour's time passed before Kusama noted that Kaito's breathing had started to calm down "You good?" He asked, voice soft. Sometimes Kaito's senses were extra sensitive for a bit.

"I want to die" Kaito croaked, voice hoarse and weak from screaming too much. Everything hurt, he felt like he was on fire, except worse since he's actually caught himself on fire a few times before.

"Want me to tend to you?" Kaito's eyes were red and puffy, he was also only twitching occasionally. He looked horrible, and like he was going to pass out.

"I can't move" Moving hurt, his nerves felt so raw "I'm gross though"

Kusama nodded even though the teen couldn't see it "Right" He carefully lifted Kaito up, ignoring the pained whines unwilling escaping from Kaito "You don't have to do anything, I'll take care of you" He gently carried Kaito over towards the adjoined bathroom, depositing him so that he was upright in the tub. He grabbed the scissors and gently cut off the fancy diaper, the kind he'd given the other. Said diaper was disposed of in a plastic bag, soiled.

He started the shower, gently washing the teen of all his sweat and filth. He'd done this many times before. Sometimes, Kaito just didn't have the energy nor ability to clean himself up afterwards. Involuntary muscle spasms often meant a soiled diaper, because sphincters were muscles.

Once Kaito was clean, Kusama put a plug in and refilled the tub with nice warm water and some bubble bath for Kaito's modesty. A nice warm soak often helped Kaito recover. Kusama pulled out a book, checking the water temperature off and on, only removing Kaito from the bath once the water had cooled. The teen had passed out at this point. Kaito was dried, then dressed in a new diaper and the fuzziest and comfiest clothes that Kusama had managed to find.

Now that Kaito was clean and dressed, he was placed back on the table, with new plastic covering the bottom half, the top half was left uncovered. Kusama then draped a soft blanket over the teen and proceeded to update Ginzo. The doctor really hoped that today had been a success.
