Maria and Thomas are supposed to be having a sleep over with some of their classmates, but the two leave their respective sleep overs, and just so happen to run into each other at their favorite bridge. Hijinks evolving the lovely little lake below ensue.
Sleepover Fiasco: Taking a Dip(Pt.1)
Maria let out a mild huff at Thomas' complaint about her lack of forethought, and placed her arms behind her on the bridge as she prepared to retaliate.
"Well, it's not my fault your life is so boring without me." She retorted, pushing back against the concrete bridge to lean forward and invade Thomas' personal space. Thomas instinctively released his back from it's arch position to reach his full height; No longer making an effort to compensate for the over six inch difference between them-which was only amplified by her sitting. On any other night, in any other setting, Thomas might have brushed off Maria's egoistical, though correct remark with a simple roll of the eyes. But tonight was not just any other night nor any other setting, no, tonight gave way to a very rare opportunity that Thomas would no doubt be a fool for ignoring. After all, the two of them were here on Danville Bridge during a beautifully starry night. Not a car or other person to disrupt their casual chatting. The only sounds being the chirping of the birds far up in the trees. The only light bearing down from the crescent moon up above that shined down past their forms and onto the lake below. The moon's shape outlined by the reflection it's light had created in the water just beyond Maria's seated figure. Oh, yes, he'd certainly be a fool to forgo this hauntingly intriguing opportunity that the night had handed him. Smirking down at the fiery red-head still oh so confident of the truth behind her little claim; Thomas wrapped a large palm around the girl's left shoulder. Maria raised an eyebrow at what Thomas was trying to say with his small motion, but she had barely any time to read his face before she felt herself being reclined.
"Hold your breath." Whispered Thomas as eyes swirling with confusion met eyes filled with mischief, and Maria felt the pull of gravity as her hands left the bridge. Maria's face was frozen with an expression of blank shock as she fell from Danville Bridge into the water below, but as she fell her mind was overrun with one simple thought;
"Ese Reynard astuto!" Maria held her breath just as she was instructed before she completely hit the water, and broke apart the inspiring image of the moon that had danced upon it. A loud sound of waves crashing as she met the water interpreted the timid song of the nature around them, and Thomas watched her be consumed by the waves that followed before she was swiftly poking her head up from the surface. Maria released a sharp intake of breath when it was safe to do so, coughing lightly after. "¡tramposo! ¡Haciendo un movimiento tan pésimo! ¡Oh, cuando te ponga las manos encima, yo-yo, ugh!" She barked up at the boy who had taken her seat on the edge of the bridge; Snickering behind his hand at the wet locks of hair clinging to her forehead.
"Listen to that-'' He regained himself enough to say. "-I think I hear the crackling of embers." Noted Thomas as he tilted his head a little higher on one side to insinuate he was hearing just that before he returned to smirking down at Maria. "Here I thought water was meant to dose a firecrackers flame." Maria glared daggers into Thomas as she heard his snickers filling the air once more. Her mouth opened, ready to spit even more laughable insults in the brunet's direction, only for her to snap it shut the moment she saw his bootless feet hanging over the bridge's edge. She watched with wide eyes as he threw his unzipped jacket over his shoulders, pressed his bare feet flat to the concrete, and pushed off into an elegant dive. His landing into the lake sent a wave of water over her head.
When Thomas' head came up over the surface, Maria was still marveling at his refined diving form, truly impressed with how taken with water he was. His eyes remained closed a moment longer to bask in the feeling of the water then his hands were moving the wet bangs from his face to behind his ear. Realization soon dawned on Maria just what exactly she could do now that Thomas was next to her. She felt her mouth forming into a cheeky grin as her eyes gleamed with enthusiasm. Thomas barely had time to recover from his dip into the water before Maria was on him.
