Maria and Thomas start heading back to their homes together, and have a small conversation on the way, that reveals just what kind of mischief the two are missing. They decide they would like to avoid that mischief, and get some rest, just the two of them.

Sleepover Fiasco: Taking a Dip(Pt.2)

The air of early-spring was chilly against Maria's dripping wet clothes, causing her to let out an audible gasp as she shivered, and tugged the dry jacket tighter over her shoulders. She heard a light huff of breath follow the wind; Shooting a glare in the direction of the boy walking next to her. Thomas met her gaze with a raised eyebrow that seemed to ask her what her problem was. Maria's mouth formed into a pout in response, and Thomas let a smirk dress his lips. For a few minutes the two pre-teens did nothing, but silently watched the droplets of water fall down each other's faces. Their wet hair matted to their foreheads, cheeks and necks. The beautiful chirps of birds had returned to the night; Now accompanied by the noises of drenched fabrics moving against itself. Thomas held their shoes in his arms as they strolled down the slightly bumpy sidewalk that led them to their homes not ten minutes away; Maria having stolen his jacket-the one dry piece of clothing between them-the second they had returned to their spot on the bridge. Thomas had merely rolled his eyes when he reached for it, and she backed away and stuck her tongue out at him. Both more than aware that he would have offered it to her eventually-she got colder much easier than him.

"So...Should we head back to your place?" Questioned Maria as the quietness began to eat at her talkative nature.

'Don't you have your own sleepover to be getting back to?' Read Thomas' face when his eyebrows rose once more.

"Oh, all the guys are actually at your place right now." Maria responded, Thomas' eyes widened in reply and he pinched the bridge of his nose. Maria's gaze, which had wandered off in thought upon remembering events from earlier that night, returned to Thomas' face. She could tell the boy was clearly annoyed by the idea of his house being overrun with more of their classmates.

"Is my house a playground to you?" Thomas pondered, Maria placed a poignant(wrong word)finger to her bottom lip in thought, and Thomas added; "Don't answer that." Her signature large grin came over Maria's face at that, and Thomas let out a huff of defeat. Maria hummed in victory as her large grin remained on her face; Exasperation and the lulling nature of Maria's humming causing Thomas' eyes to fall shut. The two walked a few more minutes in this serene state before their homes came into view. Maria noticed the top of the tree in her backyard, causing her humming to cease, and a lightbulb to soon pop up over her head. Her gaze flickered to Thomas, and his eyelids flinched making it clear he had felt the girls gaze on him.

"Hey, Tommy?" Maria cooed, the boy lifting the lid of a single eye in curiosity. "Wanna hang out in the tree house?"
