Chapter 28
About a month later…
News of the children returning home to their families spread far and wide in both the human world and Rood Bridge Park. However, memories of the terrible events of the children were erased thanks to the power of the Sandmen. The only memories they couldn't erase were those of the Eternal Winter curse, which spread far and wide. It was impossible to wipe the memories of so many people. For years to come, the snow curse will remain part of urban myth and legend.
Back home, Destiny was now living with the Oaks in their little home. A special room was built for her outside with her personal bathroom and everything in the backyard. The Groke and Morso had to use portals to arrive in time for Destiny's lessons which were pretty much weight lifting, running and pushups. The sword lessons were to come much later in the years.
Sam and Natalie were also trained, as consultants and ambassadors for Rood Bridge Park. The Mothman would come and help them learn new things about the hidden world, and about laws and the like. Sam and Natalie were determined to work hard and protect their family. Their time in Rood Bridge Park served them well. Matt wondered if he and Tyrone would ever go and visit someday and get to know the world that was causing so much trouble.
Unbeknownst to everyone, there was one person who was not happy with what was going on. Viscount Brion observed the events unfold from his fortress, in the outskirts of Rood Bridge Park. It was a fortress that was located in a volcanic region. He cursed under his breath as the curse was lifted and destroyed, all thanks to three humans. Humans. And only three of them.
Viscount Brion was infuriated. However, this was just a setback to a major operation. Yes, it was a BIG loss that the curse was lifted, since he was relying so much on it to continue his plan. But he had other things in mind. He knew that eventually, the day will come when Rood Bridge Park will fall on its knees and he would take over the realm forever.
Back home, Tyrone and Matt were in the attic of their home, putting aways some things that Tyrone didn't need anymore. Eventually, Tyrone found a notebook that belonged to his father and he sat down to look at it while Matt was looking through an old picture book that belonged to Tyrone long ago.
As the boys sat down, looking at their things, Tyrone looked outside the circular window of the attic, overlooking the backyard where Destiny was doing jumping jacks.
"Hey Matt?" he asked.
"Yeah?" asked Matt.
"Do you think we'll always be together like this?" asked Tyrone.
"What are you talking about?" asked Matt.
"I mean. It's so much fun being with you. We play, we do stupid stuff, we go on adventures. But will it last forever? I mean, I want it to last forever. I love this life and I don't want it to end." said Tyrone.
Matt was thinking and he looked at his brother with worry. "You're thinking a lot."
"I know. It's just that I'm afraid." said Tyrone.
Matt nodded in agreement. "I know. I'm afraid too. But don't be. We got powerful friends by our side, and we aren't alone anymore. We've got Sam and Natalie, who are our parents, Gannon and Garret, Bubbles, the Mothman, Morso, the Groke and Destiny! We are not alone Tyrone. We've got people who love us. And they support us. And I got you and you got me. You saved me back in Hillsboro remember? We always got eachother's back. Marcos protected me so I can protect others. I will protect you." said Matt.
"Hey Matt?" asked Tyrone.
"What?" asked Matt.
"Chicken butt." said Tyrone.
"You moron!" cried Matt with laughter.
Tyrone and Matt gave each other a hug. "I love you Matt." said Tyrone.
"And I love you too Tyrone."
