I don't own anything. This story is kind of the Dared- from TheBackedUpT-rex. Enjoy!
"Keefe?"
"Bangs boy?"
Tam rolled his eyes. "Grady told me to give you a message." "Why not just use his imp- I mean, okay! what is it?"
Tam studied Keefe. "He told me to tell you, Sophie just got kidnapped by the Neverseen. He'd like you to rescue her.'
"Really? Without a team?"
"Grady won't be happy if I said you said no. So either do that and maybe make Sokeefe come alive, or I'll snip all your fancy hair off."
"Fine. I'll do it. But don't snip The Hair off..." Tam winked his silver-flecked eyes and said, "I'll try not to" which was not what Keefe wanted, but it'll have to do.
"Where is she?"
"In the Green Death mountains. ("Green Death"? I know.) The Neverseen is going to finish her off in a week..."
"Okay! I'll go!" He held a pathfinder and glittered away before Tam could say anything else.
Keefe wasn't sure how his pathfinder even had a side with Green Death Mountains on it- but he didn't know many things. Keefe looked at the towering mountain. He was glad he'd brought a cape because it was hard to body temperature in this weather.
He was also glad that he'd brought Foster a cape.
He tried levitating, but that was impossible. So he began to climb.
After three days, he could see a cave at the top of the mountain. "Find!" He tried commanding, but nothing happened. Huh. Was I supposed to put "Foster in that?"
"Find Sophie!"
Nothing.
Keefe shivered, and it wasn't because of the cold. Not really. What if his powers couldn't find her because the Neverseen did something? What if they killed her? What if they were sedating her? What if-
A scream pierced his eardrums.
"FOSTER?" He shouted.
Someone else- maybe Sophie- shouted something else. "I'm coming!" He climbed furiously, and he was just at the gate. Suddenly, Someone shouted, "DON'T LET HER GET AWAY!" and then there was crashing and nothing.
Suddenly, the door flew open.
"Sophie?"
"Keefe!"
'How did you get out?"
"They had a zapper machine and planned to make me tell them where Wylie is- but I refused. And so they zapped me." That explained why her clothes were a little burned.
"And then they asked me a second time, and I pretended to think, but I was focusing on inflicting, and I focused on Ruy and then they got distracted about him and I tried to zap them, but I couldn't find the panel and I made a run for it. and well, yeah."
He hugged her. "I'm glad you're back."
"I'm glad to be out of there."
"We should run, get a camp. Oh, and here's your cloak."
"You have one?"
"Two."
They camped at one of the caves at Cave Cove, which was near the Green Death Mountains. Keefe handed her a cloak, but she was still shivering so he gave her this cloak.
She shook her head. "What about you?" "I'm fine. Pro at body temperature, remember?" "That would be convincing if you weren't shivering," Sophie pointed out.
"Okay, fine. But you need it more than I do." "How about we share it?" She scooted closer to Keefe, enough to make him feel a slight mood shift. "You okay? Your mood just shifted," he said as they settled near a cave wall.
She nodded. "I think we should do some trust exercises." "But I'm not a telepath."
"If we want to get off this mountain without the Neverseen finding us, we should learn to work together."
"Okay, smart. But maybe tomorrow? I'm tired."
"Sure."
Soon after, he could hear the adorable way she breathed.
He didn't tell her the real reason.
If she didn't get over his crush soon, Foster would find out herself and it would be much, much more awkward.
And then she might hate him.
"Good morning!" a voice said. A beautiful voice.
"What?"
Good morning-"
Keefe yawned and sat up.
"Now we could do the trust exercises!"
"What even is the point of these?"
"So if the Neverseen spots us, we could be more sync, so we could do something without telling the other one of us to do," She said as she helped Keefe up.
"Um. maybe after breakfast?"
"Why?"
"I don't know," he said. "Just hungry?"
She sighed. "Fine. But have you noticed that we don't have food?"
"No, I know that. But someone brought us a stove and refrigerator. It's just in the other cave. Follow that tunnel."
Foster whipped around. She ran into the tunnel.
"How did you know?"
Keefe shrugged.
"I was bored at night, and then I saw something dark that was not a wall, and it went on and on before, you know, I saw. I was pretty kind of a little bit shocked."
Foster came back."Huh," was all she had to say.
"Look!" Keefe pointed to something scraped on the wall. It said, "Help will be with whoever needs it." (Oh! A harry potter reference.)
"Weird. Well... THANK YOU, MYSTERY PERSON!" Keefe shouted to darkness.
"I'll cook."
"You can cook?"
Sophie blushed a pretty shade of pink. "No, But I can try," she offered. "Aww, look at our little Foster, being ever so kind to her Hunkyhair!" Foster looked away. Hmm... Keefe thought
After breakfast on the cold stone floor, the room felt strangely warm. Keefe and Foster could put their capes (Cloaks? Idk) on the floor to sit on. "Is it just me, or does the place feel strangely warm?"
"it's just you," Keefe replied with a wink.
Foster sighed.
"Oh, wait- time for some exercises!" she said.
"Oh, um... okay, but you have to promise me that you won't hate me," Keefe said.
"Keefe. When will you stop the "Don't hate me"? I'm never going to, okay?
"First: That was so not my voice. But thanks for trying! Second: that's good. For now..." "What's that supposed to be meaning?" "Nothing. Remember, you promised- So no takebacks!"
Foster rolled her pretty brown-gold eyes.
Keefe? "Aah!"
I keep forgetting that you can do that.
Foster grinned. Yeah. Fitz still needs to get used to it, too.
Of course, you'd bring Wonderboy into this. But at least, your emotions didn't get crazy.
You first. Tell me a secret.
Oh no...
Why? Foster wondered.
Um, nothing. But can you go first? I can't think of a good enough secret...
Sure. Um, I know who my biological mother is.
And nobody knows? Keefe confirmed.
Well... Nobody except Fitz and Oralie.
Of course, Wonderboy knows.
Actually, that's what we broke up about.
Broke up?
Yeah.
Sorry- But inside he was secretly celebrating. Woo-hoo! No more Fitzphie!
He's going to a dance with Chan.
Chan?
Chan Dalle Eere.
Chandaleir- As in Chandalitz?
Pff- C-h-a-n space D-a-l-l-e space E-e-r-e.
Ha- Still Chandelier. wait- and Oralie? So... she's your biological mom?
Yeah. Your turn!
I hid my dad's wallet on the thirty-ninth floor. There are millions of traps. Also Gulons. So beware.
Really? This? I'll go in your mind myself.
No, you wouldn't. Would she? He tried to make his thoughts, not about her. But that just made it about her even more.
Sophie's POV
Keefe obviously had a secret. A pretty big one. Sophie could tell. But what was it?
She concentrated for a second. Then she focused on one thought that has the name Foster in it.
