Greetings, everyone! I'm back again with another SVTFOE fanfic, called "Yada Yada Tales." It's a series of short stories connected by an overarching narrative that will explore the world of Earth-Ni through the eyes of four major characters. So, pretty much a Star Vs. version of "Tales of Ba Sing Se." That being said, I hope you enjoy it, and remember; Please leave a review!'

ADDITIONAL NOTE: While this story contains some references to my flagship fanfic "Maroon and the Earth-Ni Protectors," it is by no means required reading. [MATEP SPOILERS AHEAD]

Here's the TLDR if you don't wish to read it: After the Cleaving, Star and friends form a superhero team called the Earth-Ni Protectors, to defend their newly merged world from the forces of evil. Eventually, magic returns in a new form that's better for everyone. Also, Janna has magic now. That's all you need to know.

PROLOGUE

What's the most important meal of the day? Breakfast! Yes indeed, it's crucial to start your day off right with a good meal, and that was exactly what Star Butterfly was here to do. She had come to a quaint local bakery named Butterfly Pies, which just so happened to be a family-owned business; After the monarchy's dissolution, her mother Moon used her magnificent culinary skills to open up her own pie shoppe, and feed droves of eager customers.

However, Star certainly wasn't here to eat alone. With her were three of her closest friends; Her bestie-turned-boyfriend Marco Diaz, her amicable demon ex Tom Lucitor, and his new girlfriend, the occult-loving prankster Janna Ordonia.

"Thanks for coming along, you guys. I got a busy day ahead of me, so what better way to start it than with my Pie Pals?"

"No problem, Star. I do love me some pie." Tom remarked. Just then, a young waiter with cream-colored skin, short brown hair, and a bright smile approached the teens' table.

"Hi, welcome to Butterfly Pies! Can I get you started with something to drink?" The waiter asked, causing both Star and Marco to jolt up in surprise. They both recognized the young man standing at their table from Star's time as a simple exchange student. In fact, he, too, happened to be a guest of the Diazes.

"Gustav?" Marco couldn't believe his eyes; It had been so long since he'd seen old Gustav, and so much had changed since then! One thing was for sure; He was hardly the "safe kid" anymore.

"Marco? Is that you? Ho ho, it is good to see you, my American friend! It has been so long!" Gustav jollily exclaimed, now speaking in his simulated Scandinavian accent. Now, Star didn't know much about the so-called "exchange student," but she certainly knew one thing; He wasn't Scandinavian.

"Drop the act, dude." The blond-haired girl nonchalantly ordered.

"What act?" Marco wondered. Gustav let out a sigh, and prepared to break the truth to his hoodie-clad friend.

"I'm not actually Scandinavian. My name's Charlie Booth, and I'm from boring, bland old Bakersfieldville...until now! I moved here 'cause of all the exotic Mewnian ingredients. They'll make my cooking FANTASTIC!"

"That's awesome! I'm glad you like it here, Charlie." Marco warmly replied, relieving him.

"Hey, why don't you make us something yummy?" Star offered.

"Well, I haven't actually cooked anything here yet. I just wait tables and clean the dishes. Besides, I don't think Mrs. Butterfly wants me cooking without her supervision."

"It'll be fine! Besides, if she comes back, I'll cover for you."

"Really? You'd do that for me?"

"Mm-hm. Go nuts, dude."

"Thanks so much, Star!" As Charlie excitedly rushed into the kitchen, Star smiled ardently; No matter what the circumstances, she was always happy to make someone's day. After three minutes of labor-intensive hash-slinging, the aspiring chef came back out, and set down his plat-du-jour; Four sandwiches sliced diagonally, with the crusts cut off.

"Here you go! Bon appetit, my good friends."

"These are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." Janna noted, unimpressed by the seemingly mundane meal.

"Oh, they're not ordinary sandwiches. The jelly's made from authentic yada yada berries." Charlie boasted, causing the Pie Pals to gasp.

"Yada yada berries? That stuff turns you to stone!" Star cried. She spoke from experience; The very same berries almost killed Queen Eclipsa during her second reign.

"Oh, I know. But if you boil them, the poison gets dissolved! They're perfectly edible."

"Are you sure?" Marco apprehensively asked; He didn't want his brightest star to get turned to stone.

"Absolutely! You can't mess up a PB&J." Charlie explained, although his customers weren't entirely convinced. "It's on the house."

"Alright, I trust you. Besides, it does look pretty tasty." Star hesitantly picked up the sandwich, while her friends worriedly watched. She closed her eyes, slowly pulled the morsel towards her mouth, and took a bite. To her relief, the taste was sublime; The rich, earthy peanut butter and sourly sweet jelly meshed together in perfect harmony, creating an exquisite explosion of flavor in the mewman's mouth.

"Wow, this is delicious!" The ex-princess praised peppily through a mouthful of bread and spreads, making Charlie beam with pride. "I give it two thumbs up!" Unfortunately, she wasn't able to do what she said, for a truly terrible reason.

"I..I can't feel my arms!" Star quickly rose from her seat, and tried to move them around; They merely flailed around like wet noodles. Things went from bad to worse when Star's legs went limp as well, and she fell to the floor with a thud.

"STAR!" Tom and Marco cried in unison, whilst Janna gasped. Marco quickly rushed to his girlfriend's side and cradled her in his arms, while Charlie started to panic. Just then, Moon entered her shoppe with a bag of ingredients, which she promptly dropped once she saw her daughter lying on the ground, her lips stained with telltale jelly.

"My baby!" As Moon hurried towards her downed daughter, Charlie tensed up even further; His first dish with Mewnian ingredients had poisoned an old friend, not to mention his boss's daughter.

"I am so fired..."

Poor Star was then rushed to the hospital, in order to treat her as soon as possible. The intoxicated teen laid still as stone on a hospital bed, an IV hooked to her wrist. Luckily, she wasn't alone; Her mother, boyfriend and buddies were all by her side, along with a doctor.

"Is she going to be okay?" Marco inquired, his voice trembling with palpable anxiety.

"Well, she's a bit roughed up from the fall, and she ingested undercooked yada yada berries."

"They're only edible if boiled twice." Moon added, revealing the crucial flaw in Charlie's cooking.

"The bad news is you're immobilized from the neck down, Miss Butterfly."

"What's the good news?" Janna refuted.

"The effect is temporary; It will only last twelve hours." The doctor informed, relieving Star's loved ones. The rebel princess, on the other hand, looked absolutely horrified.

"TWELVE HOURS?" Star cried, causing the poor doctor to wince. Her breaths got rather erratic, and she started to sweat. "Oh no no no, I can't be stuck like this! I've got stuff to do, I got places to go! Everyone's counting on me!" As she continued to panic, Marco and Moon placated her by placing their hands on her shoulders.

"What do you mean, darling?" The former queen queried.

"I have to meet with the Unity Council, I'm playing as a guest on the cornball team, and I'm supposed to be on the Pony Head Show!" She huffed. "But now I'm gonna let everyone down..."

"What can we do to help?" Marco asked, as he stroked Star's soft, heart-marked cheek. His immobilized lover let out a quiet, confused squeak in response.

"I can see the council for you. As Prince of the Underworld, politics are my area of expertise." Tom offered.

"And I know a good bit about Cornball; I can fill your spot!" Marco added. Both boys looked towards Janna, who glared back at them.

"Uh-uh, not happening. There's no way I'm going on Pony Head's stupid show." The teen delinquent scoffed and crossed her arms, souring the mood. "What's the big deal, anyways? You two barely hang out anymore!"

Star tried to convince Janna, by giving her an adorably sad look; However, using pathos to change Janna's ways is quite the Gordian task. Marco and Tom followed Star's lead, and made puppy-eyed faces at Janna as well. The macabre teen was still unfazed...but not for long.

"Ugh, fine, I'll do it! But you owe me big time."

"I knew you had a heart! Thank you all so much, you guys are the best." Star gushed. Marco and Tom both hugged her in return, warming her heart and making her smile. Even Janna apprehensively joined the affection train, and lightly patted her friend's soft, auric hair. Star was truly lucky to have friends as good as them; Friends who would help her in her time of need, even through the challenges that lie ahead...
