Chapter 1: The Letter That Changed Everything.
I tossed and turned in bed, and put my hand over to the other side of the bed. When I felt nothing, I woke up. I turned over and looked to the other side of the bed that I saw was completely empty, except for a piece of paper lying on the pillow.
"Naruto?" I asked quietly, looking for my husband. When he didn't respond I decided to grab the piece of paper. I turned it over and saw that it was addressed to my husband. I decided to read it.
Dear Uzumaki Naruto,
None of us in the village support you as being the hokage. We hate having a monster as our hokage. You're a freak and you're weak. We don't want to have one of the bad guys as our leader. We don't want you as hokage. Just quit now. You should just kill yourself and spare the rest of us a favour.
From, ???.
I turned it back around choking back tears. I dropped the piece of paper and quickly sprung out of bed to go look for Naruto. I quickly got dressed and crept past all of the children's rooms. I was 20 feet away from the front door until I heard a door open behind me. I stopped dead in my tracks and looked behind me to see my oldest son Kawaki staring back at me.
"Papa?" He asked.
"Yes?" I replied nervously.
"Where are you going?" Kawaki crossed his arms over his chest.
"Nowhere," I lied, not wanting him to worry about his Mama being missing.
"Okay sure," he sassed, cocking an eyebrow, and rolling his eyes.
"Okay fine! Yes I'm going out!" I whispered, raising my voice slightly.
"Where?" He asked.
"I-I-I," I stuttered, trying to make an excuse.
"Are you looking for Mama?" He frowned. I nodded, looking down at the ground. After a minute of silence, Kawaki spoke up. "I saw him," I looked up.
"Where?!" I asked hopefully, and snapped my neck to look at Kawaki.
"Well I heard heavy breathing in the hallway, so I decided to see what was going on," he started. "I saw Mama, and he had one hand on the wall, holding himself up, and was facing towards the front door." He choked.
"Then what happened?" I asked worriedly.
"He was breathing really heavily, and I asked him what was wrong, and he turned to face me," he paused, I saw a tear fall down his face. "I had never seen Mama like that before," he cried. I walked up to him, and pulled him into a hug. A couple of seconds went by and he continued. "He was pale, clutching his hand over his heart, he had tears in his eyes, and he was trembling really bad," Kawaki sobbed. "When I confronted him, he straightened up, but he was still breathing heavily, and trembling," he said sadly. "He gave me a smile, and then Mama just said "I'm fine I just need some air," Kawaki cried. He then looked up at me. "Papa," he paused. "What's happening to Mama," he sobbed.
"He'll be okay, Kawaki," I comforted, ignoring his question all together. I slowly let go of the sobbing 17 year old. I started walking in the direction of the front door.
"Are you going to find Mama?" Kawaki asked. I nodded.
"Go to bed Kawaki, we will talk about this in the morning okay? It will be okay," I reassured. Kawaki nodded, turned around, and walked into his bedroom, closing the door once he was inside.
When I had my hand on the door knob of the front door I heard the sound of crying, and scattered breathing coming from the bathroom near the front door. I took my hand off the door knob, and turned to face the bathroom door. I gently knocked on the door, and the crying stopped.
"Naruto?" I asked softly. Dead silence on the other side of the door. "Baby?" I whispered worriedly. Silence again. I tugged on the door and realized it was locked. "Naru, baby, please unlock the door," I demanded gently. I heard the lock click, and I slowly opened the door to reveal a very shaky Naruto sitting on the floor, back against the bathroom wall, and his head in his arms. His blonde hair was covering his face. I walked over to him and sat next to him. My eyes filled with tears, seeing him like this was just too much for me to handle. "Naru?" I asked, grabbing one of his hands and holding it tightly. He tried to pull away but I wouldn't let him. His hands were shaking so badly, it made me shake. "I saw the note," I stated, after a while.
"You did Sasuke?" He sobbed, taking his head out of his arms, and looking at me. His dimmed blue eyes, filled with tears, widened in horror. I saw a whole different Naruto. His normal cheerful smile seemed like it was never coming back. His whiskers weren't as distinctive anymore with all of the stress marks all over his face. He had bags under his eyes that looked like he hadn't slept in days. He also was extremely pale. His appearance looked so unhealthy it almost made me vomit. Nothing about him seemed to not have a problem. I wondered how he was still alive.
"Yes," I sighed, feeling my eyes begin to water. He started hyperventilating even more than he already was. I knew exactly what to do, having had to deal with this hundreds of times.
"Naruto?! 1-10?!" I asked worriedly, quickly grabbing him, and holding him in my arms. This indicated the level of the panic attack. It was something me and Naruto had come up with, one night when he was having a mild panic attack.
Naruto had a very severe panic attack condition, they happened almost every single day and there was nothing I could do to stop them, which bugged me quite a lot.
He was hyperventilating so much that he couldn't talk. He tried to tell me but he couldn't. He was gasping for air, but managed to hold up 7 fingers.
"It's going to be okay," I reassured. "Those people just don't know who you are," I comforted. He continued to breath heavily. "Those people are just stupid, they don't know how kind and gentle you really are," I told him. He continued hyperventilating, and tightened his grip on me, trying to calm himself down.
What should I do? Shoot. I thought. "Naruto, you need to breathe, baby," I cried.
"Naruto," I paused, trying to think of what to say to him, to calm him down. "You always say how much I make you happy, but," I hesitated. "Naruto you showed me the light, you are everyone's light, the thing that makes them happy," his breathing began to slow. "I love you, everyone loves you," I smiled, tears falling down my face. His breathing slowed, until it was almost normal again. He spoke.
"I love you Sasuke,"
"I love you too," I said. After a couple of minutes later. He spoke up.
"So you know about the note huh?" I tightened my hold on him. I saw his hand in a fist on the cold bathroom floor.
"It was terrible," I replied, choking back tears.
"Hey, hey, don't cry," he whispered, looking up at me.
"How many of these notes have you gotten?" I asked angrily.
"I don't know," he lied.
"How many?!" I demanded, raising my voice.
"Too many!" He yelled, tears in his eyes, pushing me away. My Sharigan eyes turned on, out of anger. But they died back down to my natural black eyes, when I heard a sob escape from Naruto.
"Hey, I'm sorry," I apologized for raising my voice. I touched him, and when he didn't pull away, I knew I could hold him again. I pulled him in close.
"Sasu, I just want it to stop!" he sobbed into my chest.
"I know," I comforted, hugging him tightly, letting him cry into my chest.
Wow. I don't ever think he's cried like this in front of me. I realized. Naruto sobbed for a long time until he finally fell asleep on the bathroom floor, with me huddling beside him, holding him. I kissed his forehead, an abundance of times until I picked him up in my arms and slowly brought him back to our bedroom. I set him down on the bed and put the blankets on top of him. I laid down beside him, and cuddled up next to him. I then fell asleep.
I woke up the next morning, to the sound of my alarm clock. I felt around to try and turn it off. Ring, ring, ring-. I had hit the alarm clock right off the table.
Aww. Dang it. Now I gotta buy a new one. I thought looking down at the remains of my alarm clock on the floor. I sat up in bed, and looked to the side to see the other side of the bed empty. Where is Naruto?! I thought worriedly. I looked down to see a note placed on the pillow.
Hey Sasu,
Don't worry about me, love, I just got called to work early this morning. I made pancakes for the kids. Kawaki, Kiyomi, Naruko, Menma, Boruto, and Sarada, all have to meet their teams at the academy, for this big team meeting of Konoha from 8:00 till 4:00. I'll be there so if you need me, you know where to find me. Minato has kunai training from 9:00 till 2:00, and you have to STAY for the ENTIRE THING. And DO NOT FORGET to drop off Hima at her friend Serca's house, at 8:30, for a playdate. Don't worry I will be picking her up.
Love you, Naru.
I smiled at the note, and got up to get changed. Once I was changed I walked into the kitchen where I saw all my children devouring pancakes.
"Hey Papa!" Himawari said happily, running up to me to give me a hug. I hugged her back.
"Oh hey Hima," I laughed. I let go of her and walked to the kitchen and started making myself a coffee.
"Hey Papa?" Kawaki asked, cocking one eyebrow.
"Yes?" I answered, turning to face him.
"Can we talk?" he asked.
"Of course," I replied, leading him into the living room. I saw the other children whispering among each other, but then I shut the living room door. We both sat down.
"How's Mama?" Kawaki asked worriedly.
"Oh, he's completely fine," I reassured. He raised an eyebrow, not completely believing what I was telling him. "He just wasn't feeling the best yesterday, that's all," I sighed.
"Oh so he's fine now?" he wondered.
"Yes, yes he is," I stated. We sat in silence for a few seconds until he broke the silence.
"What happened to Mama anyway?" he asked quietly.
"Umm, he, uhhh," I started, but then I managed to take a glance at the clock on the wall. "Oh my god!" I gasped, standing up quickly. Kawaki looked confused.
"What?" He asked.
"It's 7:45!" I yelled, running out of the living room, and back into the kitchen. "Okay everyone!" I yelled. "Get your shoes on now! We are gonna be late! Hurry up!" I yelled even louder. Everyone scrambled to the door, pushing each other, trying to get their shoes on.
"Papa? Can you help me put my shoes on?" Minato asked.
"Yes of course!" I agreed. I bent down to put his shoes on, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Menma and Boruto punching each other. "Boys!" I yelled. "Stop punching each other! You can fight to the death in the chunin exams, just not in my house! I don't want blood on my furniture," I yelled, smirking at my joke. I heard the other kids laugh. I moved my hand over to Minato's next shoe. I heard all of the kids yelling at each other. Once I finished putting Minato's shoes on I turned to face them. My Sharagain activated, and I yelled. "Everyone! Shut up! We are running late so shut your traps!" I smiled when they all went completely silent. "Okay Uchiha-maki's roll out!" I laughed, leading the way to the academy.
By the time we got there it was exactly 8:00, and I was carrying Himawari and Minato.
"Okay guys, go find your teams!" I was relieved that we got there on time. I watched Kawaki walk over to his teammates at table 3. Kiyomi walked over to table 1, and Naruko walked over to her best friend and her other teammate at table 5. And Menma walked over to a girl waving like crazy at the table with the number 4 on it. I saw Sarada and Boruto, arguing, and walking over to table 7.
I sighed. Remembering the good old times when I was a part of team 7. Me, Sakura, and Naruto, getting into mischief, and going on insanely dangerous missions. I smiled.
I saw someone up on the stage waving like crazy. I smiled when I realized it was my husband being the crazy goofball he is. I waved back and then gestured to Himawari and Minato that it was time to go. They followed me to Himawari's friend's house. I knocked on the door and a black haired woman opened the door.
"Oh hi!" she said happily, but then frowned. "Where are Hima's parents?" she asked.
"I'm one of her parents," I replied, crossing my arms.
"But," she paused, thinking hard about something. "I've only met her-" she paused again. "Oh my god!" she laughed, and bent down to come face to face with Himawari. "Are both your parents guys?" she asked, laughing.
"Yes. Is that bad?" Himawari asked. The black haired woman was laughing hysterically.
"I noticed that the other guy was weird, but that makes him even worse," she remarked. "Him as the hokage!" she laughed.
"Hey honey, go inside and play with your friend, okay?" I said gently, bending down to nudge her cheek.
"Okay Papa!" She said happily, running in the house. I straightened to my full height, and activated my Sharagian. I cornered her in the corner of her porch.
"If you ever insult my husband ever again," I smiled. "You'll never get to insult anyone ever again," I said angrily. "Am I clear?!" I yelled.
"Y-y-yes," she stuttered, shaking in fear. My Sharagian turned off, and I walked into the house calling for my daughter. She ran downstairs.
"Okay, bye love you Hima!" I said happily, giving her a hug. "Mama, will be picking you up," I told her.
"Okay! Bye love you Papa!" She said excitedly, giving me a bear hug. She let go and ran into the house to play with her friend Serca. I gave Serca's Mom a dirty look and then turned around to look at Minato, chasing a butterfly in her front yard.
"Let's go Minato," I said, picking him up, and running him all the way to kunai training.
When we got there, I hugged Minato and told him "good luck". I sat down next to the Moms of all the other kids. I watched as all the kids lined up, holding an equal amount of kunai. They took turns throwing them at the training dummy. When it was Minato's turn I stood up. He looked nervous but threw one.
I watched in horror as a kunai flew in my direction.
