Hello! So sorry for not uploading this long, but life got in the way! I found a new residency and I had to re-evaluate my routine. I am constantly tired now but I'm happy because I'm finally moving forward with my studies!

So, I was running to my college city to take care of the paperwork for that and the days fell in between Orthodox Easter, which was also busy two weeks. Then it was the 1st of May which is a national holiday. Still, because it was falling on Sunday the holiday was moved to Monday which put extra stress on me because the following day I was starting my residency and I hadn't finished the paperwork or I was insured.

Furthermore, on Sunday 15th it was my birthday and I turned 23 years old! And today, it's my mum's birthday and the 6 years anniversary since my maternal grandma's passing.

Lastly, this is my present to you! Thank you for the support you've shown on this fanfiction!

I suggest listening to Allman Brown - Sons And Daughters with this chapter.

Enjoy!

Chapter 05: Honorary Children And Biological Children

The next morning Gibbs woke up feeling as if yesterday was just a fever dream but seeing Shannon quietly trying to climb down the stairs to the kitchen confirmed for him that it was all a reality.

Woke up and saw Kelly making breakfast confused he checked his watch and realized he had overslept for ten minutes. What? That never happened!

"Voight and Kevin just landed they will get some shut-eye and be by NCIS around noon with the suspect." Kelly informed Gibbs who nodded still sleepy as he poured some coffee.

He then sat and watched the scene of a family breakfast play out in front of him. It was so odd!

At 8 am they were all ready to go and piled up in their cars.

Shannon was once again seated at Gibbs' desk listening in to the team brainstorming while she sketched trying to keep herself busy.

It was around early noon when Shannon's feet started getting numb and she had finished her drawing of creating a sort of 3D calligraphic version of Jimmy Palmer's name as a thank you for patching up her wounds, she would have painted with colors but she had none so pencil would have to suffice. She stood up and said to her dad she got a cramp and she would walk it off around NCIS HQ. Connor nodded and let her go as she started heading towards Jimmy Palmer's autopsy.

"Doctor Palmer?" She called out a little crept out by the darkness and the sound of the fridges.

Confused she didn't find the good doctor in she decided to head back upstairs only when she waited for the elevator it opened and she came face to face with Palmer and an older man who looked at her surprised.

"Doctor Palmer, I found you!" Shannon said smiling happily and Jimmy quickly checked with his eyes her injured areas praying she didn't pull any of her stitches and seeing no sign of blood was gladly wrong.

"Yep! Shannon I would like you to meet Doctor Mallard, he was the one who taught me everything I know and he's one of your grandpa's, Gibbs', oldest friends. He's visiting. Doctor Mallard I would like you to meet…"

"Shannon Elizabeth Severide Rhodes, pleasure to meet you Doctor Mallard. You taught him beautifully, he saved my life I'm told." Shannon she said smiling kindly as she offered her hand for a handshake. Ducky was surprised by how talkative the girl was for being Gibbs' granddaughter.

"The pleasure is all mine, Miss Severide-Rhodes. Call me Ducky." Ducky said kindly and Shannon nodded as she followed the adults back inside the autopsy feeling less creepped out than before.

"What brings you down here, Shannon?" Jimmy asked intrigued and Shannon nervously handed him her drawing.

"This is for you, as a thank you for saving me. If I had my phone I would have ordered you a homemade candle my best friend Annabelle's cousin makes, as a thank you but it's in evidence so I made this instead. Also, I didn't know if you were allergic to any scents or candles themselves…" Shannon said nervously and Jimmy had a huge smile on his face and said a tearful thank you as he tried to hide his tears. Ducky smiled and was surprised by Shannon's drawing skills.

"Nice calligraphic depiction, Miss Severide-Rhodes." Ducky praised and Shannon blushed a bit and nodded thanks.

"You can call me Shannon, Doctor Ducky." Shannon said kindly trying to fight the blushing she wasn't used to being the center of attention even during those rich parties. Ducky laughed at the mention of Doctor Ducky and said he would call her Shannon from now but it's just Ducky, not Doctor Ducky.

"Okay…so um…my dad and mum might be looking for me…so um…okay…bye!" Shannon said awkwardly and then started walking away.

She got upstairs and was about to go grab some snacks from the vending machine when she found herself not knowing what to choose or what she was in mood for. She huffed as she sat on a chair that was nearby and kept studying the vending machine's options. Lost in her musings she wasn't listening to her surroundings and jumped when she saw a toddler had fallen near her feet and was using her shoes as a way to grab and puller herself back up.

"Hi!" Shannon said smiling at the cute child and the toddler just giggled and waved too before she walked away.

"Hey hey! Wait! Where are your parents? Can you even understand me? Jesus! You're fast!" Shannon run after the wobbling legged toddler and grabbed it seconds before it tripped on her own legs again. The toddler shrieked in her ear and Shannon bit her tongue not to curse in front of the child.

"You're welcome! You'd have fallen down!" Shannon said annoyed as she let the child down carefully and checked if the girl's shoe laces were all in order, they were then she raised her head to see an unknown woman and man looking at her in awe.

"I didn't push her, she was about to fall!" Shannon said defensively as she raised her hands in surrender.

"It's unbelievable! She has his eyes! It's…." The man gushed in disbelieving wonder.

"It's creepy yet sweet…oh she got his glare, yep definitely related to Gibbs!" The woman said in the same tone as they inspected her and Shannon felt like they were judging her entire being so she folded her hands to her chest and in defense glared at them.

"She has ears and you're too close not hear you! Who the…hell…I'm sorry…are you two?" Shannon said glaring sarcastically and then gently covering the toddler's ears when she said what the hell but the toddler whined in displeasure at the action forced Shannon to apologize.

The toddler ran towards the woman and the woman kneel to pick her up Shannon waited for them to answer when she heard Tim McGee's voice.

"Tony! Ziva! There you all are! Hey, little Tali! Wow how much you've grown!" Tim McGee grabbed their attention sounding happy but then he froze seeing Shannon looking at him questionably.

"Shannon!" Tim exclaimed meeting the teen girl's questionable gaze and remembering why he was walking around in the office building.

"Shannon! Like the wife number uno!" The Tony man exclaimed amused Shannon rolled her eyes and Tim glared at her.

"Shannon, your mum is looking for you. You guys are going out for lunch." Tim said seriously trying to deescalate whatever Shannon was about to retort back and Shannon, herself, nodded as she started walking away forgetting all about the snack and suppressing the mean comeback she had in store for the unknown couple before her.

During Shannon's venture in the autopsy and Team Gibbs tied up the loose end of their primary case, the one they worked on before Shannon appeared here. Then Tim tried to dig up more information on Cornelius while they waited for the CPD detectives and the suspect to arrive. Kelly had left briefly to meet Erin and check on her injured teammates, Agent Choi and Agent Simmons. Connor stayed in the building and talked with Sloane about hers and Shannon's talk with her the previous day. Kelly's visit wasn't that long so she came back just as the lunch break started for NCIS employees.

Kelly, Shannon, and Connor went for lunch while Gibbs wanted to join them but Sloane said they needed some family time after everything but Vance stopped them midway telling them that he couldn't risk any of them getting out of here and shot at. They might have survived twice leaving here and not getting shot but Shannon was still in danger and there was still a killer at large. They could order their food and eat at Kasey's lab where was the more spacious place.

Understandably they obeyed and ordered burgers and went to Kasey's lab once their order was delivered. Only in her lab, there was a surprise waiting for Gibbs.

Abby, Ziva, Tony, little Tali, and Ducky were all there waiting for them with takeout ordered already.

"SURPRISE!" Abby exclaimed as she rushed to hug Gibbs tightly as she beamed.

Gibbs was stunned and Kelly felt a little uncomfortable as she clutched her daughter's shoulders careful not to injure them more her husband noticed that so he circled his arm around Kelly's shoulder bringing her closer to him and his free hand grasped his daughter's shoulder softly.

Shannon was suspiciously glaring at Tony and Ziva not liking their primary introduction that Agent McGee had interrupted. Abby then as quickly as she had hugged Gibbs she had let him go and turned her eager eyes to Shannon who instantly glued herself to her parents and winced as her shoulders hurt.

The wincing was noticed by everyone and froze Abby from engulfing the granddaughter in a hug, and that got Jimmy concerned;

"Shannon, are your shoulders alright? Did you take your painkillers?" Jimmy asked concerned.

"What happened to her shoulders?" Tony asked concerned too. McGee hadn't told them much about the case he told them about how Kelly was alive and had a kid aka a grandchild.

"Need to know, I'm afraid." Shannon answered with a lot of edge in her voice and instinctively got closer to her parents.

"I'm afraid she's right, because you're not NCIS agents anymore, DiNozzo." Gibbs said in a kinder tone than Shannon's.

"I know that Boss, but if we can help or be a secret weapon or something, don't hesitate to ask us, you can trust us!" Tony said seriously and didn't hide that Shannon's comment and tone was hurtful.

"Okay, we need to eat now!" Abby tried to light up the mood and discharge the negative energy that had charged the room breaking the staring contest between Shannon and Ziva in the process.

At that Kelly was like she was shaken out of her stupor and realized how rude her daughter was which resulted in Kelly grasping Shannon's arm and carefully pulling her aside to lecture her on etiquette and kindness!

"Shannon, I get that you had a rough couple of days but the way you addressed Gibbs…dad's friends was unacceptable! He's is risking his team and job by helping us solve this mess, show some class and respect! Go apologize to them right now, young lady!" Kelly scolded Shannon with a motherly tone causing Shannon to shamefully lower her head in retaliation and obedience.

The young mother and daughter duo returned to Kasey's lab and saw how Abby had prepared the portions for everyone. At that lunch was served and Gibbs introduced Kelly to his former employees and honorary son and daughters and now a grandchild.

Kelly smiled happily seeing that her dad hadn't replaced her but hadn't also stopped himself from acquiring more honorary kids and essentially creating a new type of family. She liked Ziva although Tony reminded her a lot of the earlier years of her cousin Kelly and a younger version of Detective Adam Ruzek before he and Detective Kim Burgess settled into a relationship. She even might dare say some of Tony's antics told to her by Jimmy Palmer's stories reminded her of Justin Voight, Sergeant Hank Voight's late son before he had gone to prison on drug charges and then joined the Army. From the time when they were kids hanging out in similar circles.

"So, where have you been hiding all these years?" Tony DiNozzo finally gathered the courage to ask Kelly directly.

"Oh! I was in Chicago." Kelly answered smiling softly as she instinctively looked at her husband and they united their hangs under the makeshift table Abby had set up.

"Ah! The Windy City!" Tony mused and everyone chuckled.

"And you never thought to reach out to Gibbs?" Ziva was next to ask not bothering to hide her intrigue.

"I was afraid that the very same cartel that tried to kill me in '91 would try again because they might have had eyes on the house or on dad himself. Plus, I wasn't sure how to approach the situation so I kept putting it off." Kelly said smiling guilty and glancing at Gibbs for a moment before her gaze returned to Ziva.

Ziva nodded understandably and kept feeding Tali. The rest of the conversation flew with polite and careful conversation until lunch was over.

"So, Gibbs, how does it feel to have Kelly back?" Ducky asked as Gibbs and Ducky found some privacy in the elevator while Ducky was going downstairs to hang out with Jimmy for a bit after lunch and Gibbs needed an excuse to get out of the lab. It all felt like some odd dream.

"I still can't accept it, Duck, I expect something to happen and me waking up in my couch and all of this to be a dream. I never expected this to happen…I don't know what or how I feel if I'm being honest." Gibbs spoke honestly and Ducky was surprised by his wordy answer and clear show of vulnerability on his part.

Ducky was about to say something comforting when Gibbs' phone rang, it was Vance letting him know that Detective Kevin Atwater and Sergeant Hank Voight had arrived with the prisoner and to come upstairs. Gibbs bid his goodbye to Ducky and rushed upstairs only to be struck by the scene of Sergeant Voight hugging Kelly warmly while Detective Atwater was hugging Shannon.

It looked like a family reunion. Then he saw how Hank approached Shannon who jumped on him causing the man to backtrack a few steps by the sheer force of Shannon's hug causing the people around them to chuckle in amusement. Gibbs had to accept that scene caused him an amount of jealousy he was too proud to measure. He tried to push it down and walk over to them greeting them diplomatically.

They put Daniel Rodriguez in the interrogation room and Gibbs with Hank got ready to interrogate him once more while McGee run Daniel's prints and photo ID against all databases he could. Kelly, Atwater and Connor with Ellie and Nick were behind the two-way mirror anxiously waiting to see how the two bosses would do.

Gibbs couldn't read Voight at all, he tried but he couldn't! And Hank had so far agreed with Gibbs' interrogation methods leaving Rodriguez alone in the interrogation before joining him. Rodriguez still had a cast on and some of his prior injuries hadn't healed but Connor, if he was being honest, he enjoyed that fact, some of those ugly bruises were made by his daughter and he couldn't be prouder!

Shannon was prohibited from being present for the interrogation and was back at Jack's office reading a book on the couch while Jack read Rodriguez's file the Chicago team had brought.

Tony, Ziva, and Tali had left and gone to their hotel to rest for a bit and so had Abby and Ducky leaving the NCIS' finest to work in peace. Vance also was looking more into the Saints and Black Scorpions including Connor's dad in the safety of his office using some favors he had been owed.

Kasey and Jimmy worked on other NCIS cases, other teams had requested results in evidence while waiting for any new leads.

Just then McGee's computer beeped with information that was changing the game! He knew that he mustn't under no circumstances interrupt Gibbs' interrogation time but this couldn't wait!

So, what do you think is the information McGee has found? Will he dare to pull Gibbs and Voight out of the interrogation room?

How do you like the meet-up between Gibbs' daughter and his honorary kids? What do you think of little Shannon meeting little Tali, Ziva, and Tony?
