Quatre blinked as he stared at Kagome. He had not expected to be accosted by Souta and drug forcibly to the back of the shrine. An anniversary party was set up to celebrate him being there for a year. Each member of the Family gave him gifts.
Kagome had taken him to the side and asked if he truly wanted to go home. Hence his current state of shock and staring blankly down at her. Yet he could not detect anything but her usual genuine need to help. But he did not think it was possible to return.
"Of course, Kagome, but that will be very difficult," He finally said while giving Kagome a sad smile.
"Quatre, I know you don't come from my world or time," Kagome said. Her voice is soft, and her words are blunt. "And I know you've already guessed I am abnormal."
Unable to say anything, Quatre nodded his head. There was no way to refute what Kagome had said.
"Well, I am from here. This world is my time and my Family. But I am a real priestess, and almost two years ago, my life changed drastically," Kagome explained. "I was pulled down the well by a demon and almost five hundred years into Japan's past. Those stories I tell are real. My Family has met InuYasha."
Quatre couldn't help but be shocked. And it must have shown because Kagome laughed as a silver bubble appeared around them. She was giving him visual proof of what she had claimed.
"Now seeing is believing," Kagome said, still chuckling. "But back to the matter at hand. I can return you, Quatre Raberba-Winner, to where you belong. Along with everything you wish to take."
Swallowing a few times, Quatre collected his thoughts. Deciding on how to say what he wanted and felt.
"Kagome, that'd be great. But how?"
The slight smile he got as Kagome lifted a hand and pointed at the old well house.
"I've been doing my research," Kagome said. "The well is connected to the past. But with the correct ritual linking it to you, I can send you home."
"Really, Kagome? That is amazing. What is the cost of doing this?" Quatre asked.
"Exhaustion, a bit of blood, and a lot of sleep," Kagome quipped jokingly. "And the loss of a friend."
Quatre was stunned. He hadn't thought Kagome was that fond of him to claim he was a friend she didn't want to lose. Without thinking, Quatre reached out and pulled Kagome into a hug.
"Me to Kagome. But I don't belong here," he said. "I have friends I need to help. And I can say I'll never forget you. You're a once in lifetime kind of friend."
When Kagome's arms wrapped around him, returning his hug, Quatre smiled.
"Then follow me so I can show you what I've done already," Kagome said. Her arms dropped, letting him go and walking briskly towards the well house. But Quatre didn't miss how the tips of her ears were red.
