Hanako Gaiden
Chapter 1: Broken Family
There was a small house in the middle of the village. Near it was a bunch of beautiful trees with cherry blossoms. The scene zoomed into one of the windows.
"Happy mother's day! I made you this!" Hanako Uchiha
showed her mom Sakura Uchiha a beautiful origami bouquet.
"Oh my goodness! This is so adorable! Thank you, dear! I love you…" Sakura knelt down and hugged her daughter. Hanako hugged back. She then thought of her father Sasuke. How he was never there for her or his wife, not even on mother's day. The girl's smile slowly turned into a frown.
Not wanting to disappoint her mother, she smiled once more the moment Sakura looked at her.
"I love you too." Hanako said to her. Sakura then put the flowers next to a family picture.
"Let's go visit Lee for some special raman! I heard he's making the one with the hand shaped carrots!" Sakura said.
"N-nice. Sounds cool…" Hanako's smile broke a bit. She had no clue how to feel about her dad, since she only met him when she was three. Their interaction wasn't very memorable. She only recalled him tapping her forehead with two fingers. This image repeated in her head like a broken video tape.
"Hana-chan?"
"Hmmm?"
"Are you okay? You seem to be staring into space." Sakura frowned.
Hana's eyebrows furrowed. She stayed silent.
"Come on, you can tell me anything. I kept the secret about your crush!" Sakura winked.
Hanako still said nothing. She picked up a picture of her father and looked at it.
"It's… it's more serious than that, isn't it?" Sakura's smile faded. Hana and Sakura stood in silence. The wind blew through the house's pipes, giving a somber feel.
Hanako's face slowly turned from emotionless, to tearful. She turned around, snot dripping down her nose. She tackled and hugged her mother's legs, her strength almost knocking her down. She tried to blink the tears away, but they wouldn't stop coming!
"I'm… not… fine mom. I feel like an anxious dork! Wondering who my dad is! And no, I shouldn't feel like this on mother's day of all days! Especially since you're such a sweet mom! I don't wanna drag you down! I wanna be your happy little Hana!" Hanako ranted.
"Aww… Hanako. You don't always have to be happy on a holiday. Sometimes days just aren't the best. And there's a reason why we don't often talk about or even visit your father. He's… he's a very complicated and scary person. I used to be blindly in love with his looks alone. But ever since his true colors have shown… I've been trying to keep you safe. I know, this is all hard to hear since you're just twelve years old, but it's for the best that he doesn't attack you over our dwindling relationship. No married couple is perfect. It's like puzzle pieces that were once whole, but now they just don't fit back together." Sakura said as she held her daughter in her arms.
"...I'm glad you've been here for me. Daddy doesn't even
seem to care. No letters… no scrolls… no cards… nothing from him. Perhaps you're right. He probably even knows how scary HE can be." Hanako sniffled.
"But a part of me still wants to see my father instead of Lee. Nothing against him, I just… I don't know Sasuke." Hanako said as she let go of her mother.
Sakura gave her a tissue and nodded understandingly.
"If you want to see Sasuke, then let's visit him first. I'm sure Rock Lee and Metal Lee can wait." Sakura said.
"Heh heh! Metal is still a funny name!" Hanako giggled, cheering up a bit.
"Yeah… funny." Sakura blushed pink.
"I'll go get dressed. Thanks for the talk, mom! It means a lot to me!" Hanako said before going into her room.
The background turned black, showing a white outlined image of Sakura as she said her inner thoughts.
' I'm glad she's talking about her feelings and she wants to know about her dad but… this family is screwed up as it is! I don't want her trying to figure out more about Metal and Rock Lee! Hanako's a smart child. Gonna have to keep an eye on her.'
The scene then panned to Hanako's room.
Hanako changed into a red sleeveless dress and black leggings. She put on purple socks and fingerless gloves along with black sandals. She wondered exactly what her dad was gonna say to her once they encountered each other, especially since Sakura called him "A very complicated and scary person."
Hanako tried to remember all the time she spent with her dad, but all she could picture was the forehead tap. She then thought of Rock Lee and Naruto, how they were better father figures teaching her skills and playing with her. They even introduced her to her friend, Himawari.
She found it bizarre that Sakura was just as good of a mother but Sasuke didn't even think of her. Hanako sighed, wishing that she actually knew Sasuke. She glanced at pictures of him. He smiled in none of them. "Guy looks like an edgelord." She sajd as she packed some water. She packed her brass knuckles, extra change of clothes, and slinged her black backpack over her shoulder.
"Welp… here's to finding a jack $$!" Hanako slightly joked.
Once she went into the living room, she saw her mother drawing a bunch of jutsu hand symbols.
"Um… excuse me, mommy, but… what's that jutsu?" Hanako politely asked.
"I was going to teach you this in case your father gets physical. It's called Hiraishin no Jutsu. Here, I'll show you."
Sakura marked the wall with a glowing blue symbol. She then ran outside.
"Huh?! Hey, what gives?!" Hanako's eyes goofily widened.
Suddenly there was a blue flash of light, and Sakura teleported back, leaning on the wall.
Hanako took off her glasses, wiped them, then put them back on, making sure she wasn't going crazy.
"You're not seeing things. This jutsu allows you to teleport through space time."
"MEDICAL NINJAS CAN BREAK TIME?! THAT'S SO COOL! I WANNA TRY—"
"But hold up, there's a catch." She put a finger on Hanako's lips.
"You have to mark the target with the "technique formula" The formula is applied after the merest touch and cannot be removed; it will remain in place even after the user has died. You can mark people too, including yourself. I didn't mark myself for this, but I have left it in certain safe areas I remember." Sakura explained. She then lifted her finger.
"Soooo… how will this help me against my angsty dad?" Hanako curled her hair.
"If your dad ever acts up, you can always return to an area you mark and escape him quickly. Just don't abuse the Jutsu. You'll be in too many places at once. I'll teach you the hand symbols, and you can choose a safe area to place the formula!" Sakura said, nearly putting her daughter to sleep.
"Pretty boring, but if it takes that to become a great medical ninja, I'll try it!" Hanaka said.
"Least you're being honest…Now, let us begin!" Sakura said.
The two practiced the hand symbols as they walked, looking for Sasuke. Some people looked at them like they were crazy and young ninjas mocked their hand symbols.
Naruto greeted them with a friendly wave as his daughter Himawari played with his cape.
"Hana-chan! Sakura-chan!" Naruto smiled.
"Lord Seventh!" Sakura waved back while Hanako stayed silent. Hanako almost broke her fingers practicing. She was way into the zone to say hi back.
"Say hello, Hima!" Naruto said.
"Hello Hima!" Himawari cutely waved.
"Such a silly girl. Have you two seen Sasuke anywhere?" Sakura asked.
Naruto's smile faded. He looked into the distance and sighed. Hanako stopped practicing.
"He went into the abandoned village of Konoha… And never came back. I visit him, slipping letters into the door along with my daughter. But he NEVER comes out of his house." Naruto lowered his hokage hat.
"Yeah! I call him Mister Mystery Man!" Himawari added.
"He… he still talks to you, right?" Sakura said anxiously.
Hanako swung Himawari's tiny hands. Himawari giggled, holding her friend's hands as well. This cheered Hanako up a bit.
"Oh yeah definitely. He's gotten more mature. He just doesn't have the balls to show his face!" Naruto laughed.
"Course you're still his rival…" Sakura rolled his eyes.
"Least YOU don't hit me anymore. Don't you think I'd forget that!" Naruto gave her a goofy glare.
"Don't make me change my mind, Naruto!" Sakura laughed as the daughters danced in the background.
"You sure you wanna visit Sasuke? He's been pretty bitter about you two." Naruto's eyes darkened a bit.
"Of course I wanna! Hanako doesn't know him, after all!"
"Are you positive? I don't want you two getting hurt. It's my responsibility as Hokage-"
"To protect your village's people… I know, I know." Sakura said over Naruto.
Naruto went silent once more. He glanced over at the two little girls, dancing with each other to imaginary music.
"Listen, Lord Naruto… I'm teaching her Hiraishin no Jutsu. She'll be able to teleport to safety if he gets frisky. Okay?" Sakura held his bandaged hands.
Naruto kept his blue eyes on the girls.
He then glanced at Sakura's green eyes.
"Trust me. She'll be alright. She's a fast learner" Sakura said as she looked into his eyes.
"... I trust you." Naruto gave his signature smile.
"Good. Glad we're on the same page. I'll see you later, okay? Come on, Hanako!"
"Fine, mom… Later, cutie pie!" Hanako let go of Himawari's hands.
"Wait! Can I come with you guys?!"
"No." Naruto and Sakura said.
"It's far too dangerous and you're way too young to go out in that forest. Even when you won't be alone." Naruto said.
"Daaaaaddddy!" Himawari whined, causing Hanako to cover her ears.
"No." Naruto pulled her by the hand as she cried, throwing a tantrum.
"She'll be better if you give her mochi." Hanako said.
"Or just give it time." Sakura shrugged.
The two then continued to practice, walking away from the Hokage and his daughter.
The scene then faded to black, then zoomed out of Sasuke's cloak. "Hmmm…" He mumbled to himself as he walked through the forest. He used his sharingan to scan the area.
"A strange presence…. But nothing goes unnoticed by this eye." Sasuke whispered. His eyes turned their normal color. He glanced back at the Konoha village. He had a flashback of himself slapping his wife.
"You met up with Lee, AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?!"
"It wasn't a date I swear!"
"He had his eyes on you ever since we got married! Don't lie to me, slut!"
"Sasuke, stop yelling! You're gonna wake up the baby!"
"... Fine. Just don't even think about seeing him. Or else you won't even see me again. Get some ice for that cheek of yours."
It cut back to reality. Sasuke sighed, when suddenly, a shadowy figure fell from a tree and attacked him with a chained sickle. Sasuke dodged the swinging weapon with no emotion on his face. He then grabbed one of the ends of the weapon, causing his hand to bleed. He wrapped the chain around a tree, yanking the figure and kicking them in the balls. He then let go of the chain and let it drop along with the figure. It screamed in pain and its pale hands shook. Sasuke went slowly close to it. It was a man with white hair and white skin. He turned around and glared angrily at Sasuke, his eyes both sharingans.
"You… who are you?" Sasuke asked.
"... Why duh hell would an assassin give away his name? I ain't sayin' #$&*!" The man yelled. There was a puff of smoke and there was a tornado of leaves left behind.
"Dammit…" Sasuke mumbled.
'He killed Itchi. I will never forgive him. He was his own brother and he just out right murdered him. Next time… I'll get Sasuke when he sleeps.' The man thought as he hid further away from Sasuke. He hid his real persona from whoever he first met. He only shows his true colors to people close to him.
Sasuke tried to look for the man who ambushed him. He picked up the weapon and held it by the handle. He wrapped his bleeding hand in linen from his outfit.
He hissed in pain, scanning the forest. "I can't feel his presence anymore. He must've escaped. Still, I gotta keep my guard up."
The white haired man jumped through trees. He suddenly came to a halt once he smelled a familiar scent.
'Could it be…?' He looked down and saw Sakura and Hanako.
"When we find my dad, I'm gonna make him tell me everything!" Hanako said as she practiced.
"He's way too vague to just tell you everything, Hana-Chan… I think it's best to ask one question at a time." Sakura said.
'I've never met them, but something tells me they're both from the Uchiha family… have I not been up to date since then? They both bear the Uchiha family crest!' The man thought.
"Wait… I think I got the "technique formula" down!" Hanako said, excitedly.
"Show me." Sakura smiled.
She showed her the hand movements. Her gloved hands briefly glowed blue at the end before it faded away.
"Good job, dear! Now for the hard part, looking for a place to put the formula!"
A bunch of leaves appeared in front of the two. They took the shape of a human figure, and the pale man rose out of them.
Sakura went in front of her daughter as she stared in confusion.
"Who are you?" Sakura asked seriously.
"Duh bigger question is, do you know who Sasuke is?" The man asked creepily.
"Well of course I do, I married him and this is my daughter! Are you here to get nasty?!" Sakura glared.
"I only want to find him." He whispered.
'Those eyes… they look so familiar…' Hanako thought.
"What are you going to do to Sasuke? And tell the truth!"
"Lady lady… no need to be so hostile! You're not setting a good example for yer kid!" He smirked.
"What are you going to do to Sasuke?" Sakura repeated.
"You won't like it, lady. I want him dead."
The two froze in fear. He chuckled and sprouted a giant chained shuriken out of his hand. He then swung it at Sakura.
Sakura dodged the chain and grabbed her daughter. Hanako held onto her. Sakura tossed several mini shuriken at him with her free hand. He deflected them with the chain and chuckled. Hanako stared in amazement as her mom dodged the giant shuriken several times. She then stepped on the chain, forcing him to flip upwards. He tried to detach the shuriken, only to get body slammed into a tree.
"You okay?" Sakura asked her daughter.
"Yeah, that was bad $$!" Hanako said.
The pale man then got up from the tree, not a scratch on him.
"You're really starting to push your luck, you useless pieces of #$*&." The man glared. His red eyes shifted into the Mangekyo Sharingan. His shuriken fell apart and turned into four spikes, shooting at the two from behind.
The two jumped, only for their legs and arms to be scrapped. They screamed in pain as blood spattered onto the dirt and grass. He then wrapped their legs in his chains and slammed them several times into the ground.
'Come on… come oooonnnn… What would Lady Tsunade do in this situation?!' Hanako thought. She tried to pick herself up, but her legs felt like they were scourching hot!
Sakura gripped the ground.
"You forgot to chain up the arms, smartie." Sakura panted. She got up and did a few peculiar hand symbols.
"Sexy harem jutsu!" A puff of white smoke appeared. Once it faded there was a bunch of pink haired women in bikinis.
The pale man stopped his Sharingan. His face turned bright red and he screamed in confusion, covering his eyes. The chains fell, giving Sakura and Habuko a chance to escape.
They both ran as fast as their scratched up legs could carry them, their arms behind their bodies.
The bikini women faded out of existence causing the man to grunt in embarrassment and anger. He scanned the area, only to see that the mother and daughter duo were heading west.
'The mother… she knows exactly what she's doing. It's fustraighting. I should just kill Sasuke in his sleep. Messing with the rest of his family would just be a waste of time. Itachi wouldn't like it after all.' The pale man thought.
