Soulmates on Opposing Sides
Polyshipping Week 2022
Luke had plans, he had his loyal people who were going to leave camp with him. And then he came stumbling into camp, half unconscious, being carried by a distressed Grover.
Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, the one who should have taken the fall for Luke.
The mark on Luke's upper arm started glowing the moment the two locked eyes. The boy's chest glowed. And then he passed out. Luke hurried over to Grover to give him a hand, taking Percy's other side and half carrying him over toward the infirmary, where he then helped the on-duty child of Apollo to peel Percy out of his clothes and check his injuries.
There it was, right above Percy's heart. A blue trident with wings growing out of the shaft, a golden sun-like halo around the forked part of the trident. It was identical to Luke's mark. This was his soulmate. He was supposed to be the fall-guy. The child of one of the Big Three, who could be used to stir things up. Luke's soulmate was a child of the Big Three.
"Mine," whispered Luke softly as he touched the mark on the other boy's chest.
He was younger than Luke, by quite some years. Sixteen, wasn't he? So pretty though. Luke wanted to run his fingers through the dark, messy hair. Even in his unconscious state, Percy leaned into Luke, into his soulmate. After all these years, Luke finally had his soulmate. What now...?

Everything was kind of confusing for Percy when he woke up. Suddenly, he was a demigod – demigods were real – and he had a soulmate. A really hot, older soulmate with blonde hair and mischievous blue eyes and a really, really hot body. Grover and Mister Brunner had been lying to him for months, about who they were, about who he was. Everything felt fake, including his friendship to Grover. Had the satyr – satyr! His best friend was a satyr – only befriended him because he was a demigod? Had everything been fake? All of that was just too much, even more so when he learned his mother was trapped in the underworld. He was in over his head.
"Hey there," Luke's voice was warm as he sat down next to Percy.
Percy had taken to sitting on top of the Hermes Cabin. That was where he was currently staying, because unclaimed demigods stayed with the Hermes Cabin. To the point of being overcrowded. Kids were sleeping on the floor in this place. Meanwhile, there were entirely empty cabins and honestly, this whole place made absolutely no sense to Percy at all. He just knew that despite already being overcrowded, the kids in the Hermes Cabin had welcomed him warmly. Luke had welcomed him warmly. Because Luke was the head of the cabin, the oldest child of Hermes. Early twenties, if Percy had to guess, but he didn't want to ask, because he felt as though asking would make Luke realize the age-gap between them and start seeing Percy as some little kid. Percy was sixteen, not a small child. He just had to prove himself to his soulmate, somehow.
"I needed some fresh air," whispered Percy. "The Stolls snore. Both of them."
Luke laughed as he shed his jacket and put it over Percy's shoulders. "Here. You're freezing."
Percy blushed and happily snuggled into the jacket. "Thank you. For, you know, everything."
"If the floor is too uncomfortable, you can sleep with me," offered Luke, causing Percy to blush even darker. "In my bed, Percy. I'm not coming onto you. We've only known each other for two days. I'd like to get to know you better, you're my soulmate, I'm not going to rush it. But I do want you comfortable. So, if you're comfortable with it, you can share my bed."
Percy licked his lips slowly, looking at Luke sideways. "Thank you, again. That's..."
"You're my soulmate," replied Luke with a shrug, like that answered everything.
"I'm so lost," whispered Percy frustrated and turned to stare out over the camp. "It's so much. My mom is... gone. And Grover and Mister Bru—Chiron, lied to me, all this time. And I don't know what to do, Luke. Please. Tell me what to do."
He turned to look at Luke with pleading, large eyes. Now it was Luke's turn to lick his lips slowly, regarding him as though he was trying to figure out what to do next, what to say next. Percy waited.
"I can't tell you what to do. But I can tell you the truth. The whole truth. And then, with all the facts, you can make your own decisions," stated Luke softly, taking Percy's hand.

Octavian was very much done with the current praetors and their uselessness. He wanted to be more active. Demigods had been turning on New Rome, joining a rebel army – an army led by Greeks. Because Greeks were still alive. Because the gods had lied to them. The augur knew he was a valuable asset and he was done being dismissed. So he arranged for a meeting with the rebel army's leaders. He was taken off shore in a small nutshell of a boat that left him doubtful, but then they arrived at a giant, luxurious cruise ship, the writing on its side claiming it as Princess Andromeda.
"So—o the Romans have a sooth-seer, huh? Can't tell you how curious I am about you."
As soon as Octavian stepped on board of the ship, he found himself faced with a young boy, a teenager at least half a decade younger than him. Oh no, he was not going to answer to another brat. Especially not a Greek brat. But then he looked into the boy's eyes and froze. He could feel the heat radiating off his soul-mark on his hip and he could see the glow shining through the boy's shirt.
"Holy shit," whispered the Greek, before raising his voice. "Luke! Luke, Luke, Lu—uke!"
Within seconds, a taller, leaner and older demigod came running, weapon drawn, most likely assuming that this one's screams were a sign of attack. But as soon as their eyes met did the other blonde drop his weapon. More glowing, this one's upper arm glowed. Octavian had two soulmates. And both of them were Greek. That was just the Fates spitting in his face, wasn't it?
"You're the..." the blonde Greek trailed off for a moment. "The augur we're expecting."
"Octavian Simmons, legacy of Apollo and augur of New Rome."
"Luke Castellan, son of Hermes and leader of the rebellion," replied the other, offering his hand. "And this is my soulmate... well, our soulmate, I suppose... Percy Jackson. The son of Poseidon."
"You always say that with so much pride, Luke," Percy grinned softly, kissing the other's cheek before turning toward Octavian. "Heh. Nice. The Fates gave me a type. Taller, older blondes."
"He's cheeky and feisty, but very lovable," assured Luke while ruffling Percy's hair. "And don't be fooled by his youth, you know. He's seen and done things most can't imagine."
"Went to Hades and dragged my mom out of there. Fought actual gods," offered Percy casually.
Impressive, Octavian had to admit. That was the least he deserved, wasn't it? For his soulmates to be impressive. The leader of the rebellion and the greatest hero of the rebellion. Despite being Greek, Octavian found himself pleased by that and offered his hand to Percy next. Only that the hero simply pulled him into a tight hug. A hugger. Octavian made a bit of a face.
"Also very physically affectionate. I'm sure you'll get used to it," Luke chuckled. "Welcome to the rebel army. Why don't we all go inside and talk? There's a lot to be caught up on."
"I... suppose there is," agreed Octavian slowly as he started following his soulmates.

The soulmate triad of Luke, Octavian and Percy became the new Big Three after the war. Not a one to one translation, but they were the three most powerful gods in charge. Octavian, the god of prophecies and oracles. Luke, king of the gods and ruler of Olympus. And Percy, king of the sea.
When Percy had arrived at Camp Half-Blood, he had been lost, lonely and confused. And then Luke had explained everything to him. The way the gods mistreated them. The way throughout history, how the children took over from their fathers – Kronos taking over from Aether, just to be dethroned by Zeus. It was time for another change of ruler. After everything Percy saw, he couldn't say he disagreed. The way demigods were treated at Camp Half-Blood, like cannon-fodder, child-soldiers but they didn't even get proper housing. How Poseidon had left Percy and Sally with Gabe. And after the way Chiron and Grover had lied to him, and they were, aside from his soulmate, the only people at Camp Half-Blood that he knew, it was easy enough to choose his soulmate. More than half of the Hermes Cabin came with them. They were family, friends.
Together, they uncovered more of the gods' lies. Roman demigods existed – and they had an entire city. Even if Percy would have had any doubt about their cause, that would have squashed it. Romans got a city, while demigods slept on the ground in summer-camp cabins. Demigods deserved more, deserved better. They should not have to answer to these uncaring gods. But learning about the Romans introduced their third to them. Octavian Simmons. Tall, grumpy, stuck-up blonde who was so easily annoyed and could glare most into submission. Teasing him was fun. Curling up on Octavian's lap was also fun. Despite his outside attitude, Octavian could be very gentle with his soulmates. All he wanted was to be loved too; Percy and Luke learned about Octavian's family, who always put so much pressure on him to live up to the family's legacy.
"Where are my blondes? I'm ba—ack," called Percy out as he teleported onto Olympus.
He'd chosen to be the king of the ocean, even though he could just be the cute arm-candy of the king of Olympus. The ocean was his, he had a deep connection to its creatures through his blood and he did not think anyone else was fit to take over this realm, because he was the only child of Poseidon/Neptune. The underworld was ruled by the di Angelo siblings, two kids Percy and Luke had rescued from the Lotus Hotel and taken in years ago. Thalia Grace, brought back from being a tree by Luke after Percy went to get him the Golden Fleece, had taken over the realm of Zeus, while gladly leaving the ruling duties to Luke. Honestly, Percy thought they were doing great.
"Finally," Octavian grunted displeased. "You were gone too long, Perseus."
Octavian always got cranky when Percy left for a couple days. "Aw. You missed me, Tavy."
With a pleased grin did Percy climb onto Octavian's lap and steal a kiss. Luke opposite Octavian cleared his throat to get Percy's attention too. Percy pouted, unwilling to get off his new seat (also Octavian quickly wrapped his arms around Percy's waist to hold him in place). With a roll of his eyes did Luke get up to walk around the table and tilt Percy's head back so he could kiss him.
"Welcome home, babe," whispered Luke with a smile. "And we both missed you."
Pleased did Percy lean against Octavian, with Luke caressing his hair. Yes, he was back home.
