Stymied by caribou
Disclaimer: Marvel owns everyone.
And so it came to pass, that after his less than successful attempt at magic, Peter Parker aka your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, found himself sitting outside of a diner where MJ used to work now, feeling decidedly morose because none of his friends remembered him at all, MJ in question included.
"What do I do now?" he mused, as he bought a newspaper from a vendor outside of the aforementioned diner. The headline there proclaimed that Tom Holland and Zendaya have reached some sort of a relationship milestone, which did not make him feel any better at all.
"Out of all times and places," he muttered crossly as he flung the newspaper away. "Out of all the people-"
"Hey, are you ok?" MJ was back, and out of the diner now. Sure, she still looked at Peter as he was a stranger, but at least they had verbal contact now, which was good.
"Mmm," Peter replied noncommittally, unsure now if he wanted to get into their usual discussion about the two celebrities now that MJ did not remember him at all.
"Anyways," MJ continued gamely, becoming aware that the young man in question, (i.e. Peter, whom she totally forgot about now), "I'm sorry if I gave you the cold shoulder back there, but-"
MJ did not finish, as a caribou-driven chariot appeared on the street; a certain enchantress named Sylvie, (but probably not THE Sylvie, though you never know), was goading the caribou onwards, while laughing maniacally.
"Enchantress!" – and lady Sif of Asgard was in hot pursuit, as Robbie Reyes the Ghost Rider was driving her after chariot, while yelling as to just what she was going to do the other woman when she caught-up to her…
"…", MJ closed her mouth and turned to Peter. Only the later was gone, leaving only your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man behind.
"I'm sorry, citizen," and he sounded authentically apologetic here because of the obvious reasons, "but while this probably isn't a job for Spider-Man, I still need to check it out," and he was gone, swinging on his webbing, (and being joined by Daredevil soon, but that was another story).
"Right," MJ told no one in particular, (as Ned was gone on his own adventures now, actually), "I think that I am really missing something important here!" – And, obviously, she was, but that was also another story.
End
