I don't own Ace of Diamond. I only own my OC, Manami Kataoka.

Chapter 2 - Are You Like Me

~ Manami's P.O.V. ~

I was helping the managers, when the first-year manager, Yoshikawa Haruno, tripped and dropped the bucket that held baseballs.

"Not again," one of the managers said.

"I'm sorry," Haruno said.

"Your still training. Don't make more work for us," Third-year manager, Fujiwara Takako said.

"We got this. You should start making the drinks," Second-year manager, Umemoto Sachiko said.

"Your such a handful," Second-year manager, Natsukawa Yui said.

I frowned at the three girls before walking up to Haruno who was still on the ground. I knelt down and placed a hand on her shoulder. When she looked up at me, I smiled at her.

"Don't mind them, Sweetheart. Why don't you and I make those drinks? After that, you can help me with other managerial work. How does that sound?" I said giving her my hand.

Haruno was hesitant for a moment before she nodded and grabbed my hand. My smile grew as I helped her up. I then turned to the three older girls and frowned at them, making them flinch from my disappointed face. I shook my head sighing.

"I expected more kindness out of you three. Mostly, you, Takako. I am disappointed," I said making them look down, "Now, finish cleaning these balls up and continue your work. We have a game after school."

"Yes, Ma'am," the three girls said.

~ AT THE GAME ~

~ Third Person P.O.V. ~

At the Seidou baseball game against Ichidai Third High. Manami was passing out snacks and water bottles to the managers and team members who were sitting at the bleachers. The game overall was a bit disappointing since Seidou's Ace was losing his nerve. Luckily, the batters did their job in winning the game with a four-run lead. She laughed when Jun politely greeted the catcher and umpire before yelling at the pitcher. When it was time to go back to school, she had all the kids finish their water and snacks had them throw their trash away, and place the recyclables in the bag she brought. She then guided them back to the bus before heading to sit next to her husband. She rested her head on his shoulder and dozed off since she hasn't been feeling that well that day, not noticing the many smiles/smirks from the baseball team.

When they made it back to the school, Manami helped make dinner as the boys showered and changed. Her husband had told her that he revoked Tanba's Ace title and bumped him back to the second string. It was sad, but Manami knew Tanba will get through it. He's just stuck at the moment. When dinner was over, the cafeteria ladies made Manami leave, so she can be with her husband. Their reason made Manami blush. Because they knew Manami and Tesshin were trying for a child. They have been for months, with no luck. They got checked by a doctor who told them that there wasn't anything wrong with their bodies. That it was probably stress that is the factor (I don't have kids so I wouldn't know). Manami found her husband and the two went home.

~ (TIME SKIP) AT THE KATAOKA HOUSE ~

Tesshin looked at his wife as she slept in his arms. Their naked bodies tangled with the sheets. He can honestly say that he has never been happier than he is with Manami. Ever since they met in high school, he always thought about how blessed and lucky he was to have her love. They have been trying for a child of their own for a while, and it has been disappointing for the both of them to not have any luck. He knows that Manami puts on a brave face with each disappointment, but he can see that she is hurting. Tesshin understands that Manami sees the baseball team as their children, and treats them as such. The team fills lifts her mood every time she sees them. Sighing, he kissed her head before falling asleep. Tomorrow was going to be a new day.

~ THE NEXT DAY ~

Manami has been feeling nauseous ever since she woke up that morning. She pushed through the day, helping the managers when a wave of dizziness hit her. She had to hold the nearby fence to stay up. As she held her head, Haruno ran up to her.

"Kataoka-san, are you okay?!" Haruno said gaining the attention of the other managers and the few players who were close by.

"I'm fine. Just a bit tired," Manami replied.

"Maybe you should take a break for a while," Haruno said. Her face was full of worry.

"She's right, Manami-san. You should relax for a bit. It is getting hot," Takako said as she placed a hand on Manami's back.

Sighing, Manami replied, "Okay. Just for a bit."

Takako turned to the other managers and told them to continue their work as she guided Manami to the dugout to rest for a bit. She made sure to give Manami a cup of water and made sure that the woman, who was like a second mom to her, was alright before leaving to continue her work.

Manami sighed again, closing her eyes as she leaned back on the bench. She hoped that the feeling would go away soon...

~ TIME SKIP ~

It didn't go away. Instead, Manami missed dinner because she was in the restroom throwing up. Worried yet thinking she might know the problem, she texted Rei to head to a store to get some pregnancy tests and to not let her husband know. When Rei replied that she will get the tests for her, Manami rinsed her mouth as she decided to wait in the restroom for her. She really wanted to believe it was finally time. That she and her husband are finally going to have a child.

An hour or so later, Rei and Manami were looking at the four pregnancy tests. All were positive. Manami began to cry happily. Rei hugged her best friend with a big smile.

"What are you going to do now? Are you going to tell Tesshin?" Rei asked.

Manami thought for a moment before shaking her head.

"I want to make a doctor appointment to confirm the pregnancy first," Manami said already messaging her doctor. "My doctor says I can come in tomorrow. I should be back before the game with the first years vs the upperclassmen."

"Sounds good. Let me know what the doctor says," Rei said, "Make sure to eat something. The team should be in the middle of dinner right now."

Manami nodded. The two washed their hands before leaving the restroom.

~ WITH THE BOYS ~

The second and third-year players were worried when they didn't see Manami in the kitchen as usual. The players who noticed her strange behavior made it known to the others, which increased their worries. What was wrong? Why hasn't she been feeling well? Where is she now? These were just some questions the baseball team had. As time went by they began to worry more. That is until they all saw Manami walking in the cafeteria. She gave them all a huge smile as she made her way to get some food. Manami apologized to the ladies for not helping out with dinner, but the ladies waved it off. They were just glad that she was feeling better.

When Manami sat down with the third years, she reassured all of them that she was fine and not to worry. Happy to see her looking better, they all ate their food. Since the worry washed away from the players, the intra-squad match tomorrow filled the room with tension. There was a brief moment when Sawamura was yelling while lifting up Miyuki by the shirt, and Manami went over to him to make him release him. She scolded Sawamura for being disrespectful and disruptive, which made the boy pout and sulk.

'Damn. She's like my mom," Sawamura thought.

After that, Manami went back to her table to finish her food. She had just finished when Furuya Satoru made a declaration of 'letting no one hit his pitches' and if "Miyuki would catch for him when he accomplishes that.' Some of the upperclassmen surrounded Furuya, and just before Manami was going to put a stop to it Tanba did it for her. He made sure to remind them to they only fight on the field. They all sat back down and the night continued without any more excitement. Dinner was now over, and Manami texted her husband that she will be going home.

~ THE NEXT DAY ~

Manami had gotten back from her appointment and was walking to the announcers' box (don't know if that's the right term) where Rei and club president, Ota were at. When she entered, Rei turned to her with expected eyes. A smile was on her lips.

"So?" She asked.

"It's confirmed," Manami said with a huge smile.

Rei's smile grew and she brought Manami in for a big hug.

"I'm so happy for you. You must tell Tesshin," Rei said.

"I will. After the match. I want to see who stands out," Manami said.

"What's confirmed? What's happening?' Ota asked.

"I'm expecting," Manami said.

"Expecting?" Ota said confused before seeing Manami place a hand on her stomach. The lightbulb in his head shined with realization. "You're pregnant?!"

Manami nodded. Ota laughed, joyfully, congratulating her as he hugged her. Manami thanked him, and the three of them sat down to watch the game. She was excited to see the new talent that they were working with. She was also excited to see her husband's reaction to their long-awaited pregnancy.

A/N: Let's say Coach Kataoka and Manami have a house of their own, but they also have their own place near the dorms that they stay at also.
