Every individual in the universe, no matter who they were, had a soulmate. A special person who was supposed to be perfect for them, a person who the universe had always intended for them to spend the rest of their life with.
An individual's soulmate would get revealed to a person by the things they lost, it was inconvenient but at any age after both soulmates had reached adulthood they would start to lose things they owned. The possessions would then end up in their soulmate's possession.
This would continue to happen for the rest of their lives to the soulmates until both the soulmates met each other in person.
The wizard Harry Potter ever since the age of eighteen years old occasionally lost things he owned, things that he still hadn't found again, even when he reached his middle twenties.
For a while he hadn't noticed it happening, as when it started happening to him it didn't happen very often and it was never often anything that he would miss.
When he was twenty-eight it started happening more often than before.
For a while he had simply thought that he had become careless or maybe that one of his friends or one of the Weasleys had borrowed something when they visited him and forgot to tell him.
It hadn't really mattered to him yet though and he didn't think much of it. He wasn't a materialistic type of man and besides so far it had never been anything really important to him.
The Marauder's Map, his old letters from his Godfather, his invisibility cloak, his Firebolt and his photo album hadn't disappeared so he could handle losing some unimportant items occasionally.
One day the opposite started to happen and he started to receive belongings that he knew for certain that he had never bought or have it been given to him as a gift. Things that seemed to him almost like things that should be in a museum rather than showing up mysteriously in his home.
A Norse helmet for example.
As he had started to lose things more often than before and had started to receive things that didn't belong to him he decided to find out why it would be happening. This couldn't be normal, even for a wizard, he was sure of it.
He asked his best friend Hermione and to his surprise she smiled at him.
"Harry, I think I know what's been happening!" she exclaimed.
"What?" Harry asked.
Hermione stared at him, her smile bright. "I think you've awakened to your soulmate and by the sound of it your soulmate's awakened to you as well! Oh, I'm so happy for you! Do you have any idea who they might be? What kind of lost items did you receive from them?"
Harry didn't answer his friend's excited questions at first, instead he stared across his table at her feeling confused still.
"I..I have a soulmate Hermione?"
Hermione nodded "Yes, everyone does Harry. It hasn't happened for me yet though. I've got some books about it, I can lend you them if you want"
Harry couldn't help but smile fondly at his friend. Of course, she had books about soulmates, she probably had books about every kind of topic of information there was.
"That sounds great" he said.
"So, tell me what belongings you've received then Harry!" Hermione said, repeating her words from before in an excited tone of voice.
Harry gave a sigh as he told her of the helmet and some other lost items he had received from his soulmate.
"Ooh! How did your soulmate get their hands on a Norse helmet?"
Harry gave a shrug of his shoulders, "Don't know, maybe they work at a museum or something and they're allowed to take stuff home" he guessed.
Hermione stared at Harry thoughtfully, "Well, anyway I'll bring over the books and you can read it for yourself. If I remember correctly there's a spell that can sort of turn one of the lost items into a portkey and take you to your soulmate"
"Would…Would that be safe?" Harry asked, his voice suddenly uncertain.
Hermione nodded, she gave him a reassuring look knowing exactly why he would be mistrustful of portkeys.
"Don't worry, it should be perfectly safe."
"Okay…"
Hermione put her drink down, got up out of her seat and hugged Harry before leaving shortly after, probably to get the books that she promised him.
The next day Hermione sent him by owl the books that he needed and he spent most of the rest of the day researching about soulmates, learning about them.
When Harry learnt all the information about soulmates that he felt he needed to he packed some things, not knowing where the soulmate transportation spell would take him or what kind of person his soulmate was and cast a spell upon the horned Norse helmet.
Shortly afterwards Harry disappeared from his home and to wherever his soulmate was.

Loki, the Trickster God had always wanted to one day meet his soulmate, the special person who the universe itself had chosen for him to spend his life with. The special person who he could love and be loved by, the special person who could accept him, despite all of his faults that others saw in him.
He didn't know who his soulmate was, though he had always wanted to know ever since his mother had first told him about the existence of soulmates. He had always thought that the way people awakened to their soulmates seemed quite inconvenient but at the same time he knew that losing any of his possessions no matter what it was would all be worth it when he could finally meet his soulmate.
He didn't awaken to his soulmate for a very long time until one day he started to receive items that he had never received as gifts or had purchased for him.
The lost items from his soulmate would stay and he would keep them in his room. He was in a way glad for the fact that the items wouldn't return back to it's owner as until the day he could meet his soulmate he liked having his soulmate's possessions.
Having awakened to his soulmate he felt happy and felt such immense relief, he would no longer have to endure the sympathy and teasing of the other Gods, nor bear the disappointed glares of Odin about not yet having a soulmate.
Thor already had a soulmate and had met her, a young mortal woman by the name of Jane Foster. This had been something that Loki had been jealous of his brother for a long time.
Loki was a God who had the ability to shape-shift and could use magic. He often had the appearance of a young slender but fit man in his late twenties, he had short neat black hair and blue eyes.
One evening Loki was in the privacy of his bedroom at Asgard when he saw as if out of magic a man appear out of thin air in his room wearing Midgardian garments and holding an Asgardian helmet that looked quite familiar.
The God stared at his new 'visitor' and gave a sigh, "And who might you be?" he asked, while at the same time thinking to himself that there seemed to be something very special about this man. He also couldn't help admiring this man for a moment, the man was quite attractive after-all.
Loki approached the man, he felt surprised when he recognized what the man was holding. He was certain that he had lost it.
The man looked to Loki and he blushed a little when he was staring right at him.
"Um….I'm Harry , Harry Potter. Um…I think I'm your soulmate. I've been losing stuff for a while now and been receiving things that I think belong to you. I performed a magical spell to take me straight to my soulmate and you're the only one here, so…"
For a few moments Loki felt speechless and emotional, his soulmate was here, he was right here in front of him and his soulmate was beautiful or at least in Loki's opinion he was.
The man was thin but fit with average height. He had short, black messy hair, glasses that were black and round and behind the glasses were a pair of emerald green eyes that were quite stunning. He also had a scar which was shaped like a bolt of lightning of his forehead.
"I'm Loki" Loki said before soon adding, "You have…You have very beautiful eyes Harry"
Harry blushed again, "Thank you, I like yours as well"
Loki smiled at the compliment; he placed a hand over one of his soulmate's hands. "Come, as we are soulmates we have much to discuss. I am happy to meet you Harry"
Harry smiled at Loki, "Me too" he said.
Loki led his soulmate over to his bed and they sat down on it.
For a while they sat on the bed talking and getting to know each other. They talked for hours and learnt much about each other, after a while Loki kissed Harry on the lips, a kiss that was eagerly returned.
The kiss felt perfect to the both of them, both feeling a sort of want and need for the other male unlike what they had felt for anyone else before. It wasn't long before they deepened the kiss and they pulled each other closer, holding onto each other as they kissed.
They kissed for a while and when they separated Loki stared at his soulmate, a smile on his face.
"I'll return you to your home and I will visit you in your realm one day soon for our first date. Is that alright with you Harry?"
Harry nodded, "I'm looking forward to it already"
"I am as well" said Loki with a smile.
Loki soon returned Harry to his home on Midgard and after giving Harry a gentle kiss on the cheek returned back home to Asgard.
The following week Harry and Loki had their first date together at a muggle restaurant on Midgard where they had dinner, shared some wine, got to know more about each other and later when they went back to Harry's home showed off a little to each other with magic. Showing off, of course led to them making out.
When the end of the date eventually arrived Harry was staring at Loki, they were laying together on the bed.
"So, all of the stuff I got from you as part of being your soulmate, do you want it back?" Harry asked.
Loki gave a soft chuckle, "No, it's fine. You can have it all, consider them courting gifts. Though, I think I might add to your collection with some more. I lost some things to you that aren't very romantic"
Harry smiled, he was blushing, "You can keep my stuff too" he said. Harry then gave a pause before continuing to speak, "So, you want to continue this and have a relationship with me then? It's fine if you don't want to, I mean you're a literal God and..."
Harry gave a sigh.
Loki stared at his soulmate, "Yes, of course I do. You're my soulmate Harry, I cannot simply meet you and not want to attempt a relationship with you." Loki pressed a gentle kiss upon Harry's forehead before adding "And would you like to, as you Midgardians often say, 'date me'?"
"Yes Loki" replied Harry.
Loki smiled, "Excellent then" he said happily before then kissing his soulmate upon the lips.
Loki that night stayed over at Harry's home and when he left around noon the next day they made arrangements for the next date.
Months later Loki and Harry had become even closer and got to know more and more about each other, they visited each other often and talked often. It wasn't long before Loki met Harry's family and friends, and in turn Loki took Harry to Asgard to meet his own family as well. Both Harry and Loki were happy to finally have met their soulmates and to finally be together.
