...

Eva was on the verge of pulling her hair out. One of her youngest daughters, Molly, has been pulling pranks all over the house, driving her sisters and her mother crazy. Eva knows that Molly means no harm with her pranking and usually she wouldn't mind it but lately her daughter has been taking her pranking a bit too far.

Her new TV that she just bought got broken because Molly was throwing water balloons at her sisters and what really got the mother mad was when she was shooting a paint gun at them and accidentally hit her 1-year-old sister, Vicky in the face. Poor thing was crying her eyes out as her mother was watching the blue paint off her face.

As she pulled Vicky out of the sink and put her to bed, Eva thought that it might be time for Molly to have a real punishment. Molly is only 3 years old, so she has never been seriously punished before yet. Timeouts sure but never has she experience real consequences, like being grounded or doing chores. It broke the mother's heart every time she had to punish her daughters but nothing else was getting Molly's attention. Eva has tried talking with her in the past and put her on countless timeouts, but those things don't seem to work on her anymore.

"Molly!" Eva's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her daughter's displeased yell. She quickly went to the living room to see her other daughters Rocky, and Nicki covered in paint while Molly was laughing at them.

Rocky glared at her. "Dammit, Molly! I just got this sweater!" She whined and Eva was taken back by the word her daughter used.

Mikey and Eva never curse so where her 6-year-old daughter learned that was a mystery to her. But she couldn't focus on that right now, she had to focus on Molly who continued to laugh, failing to realize that everyone else didn't find it funny.

"It will wash out!" Molly said with a smile. Nicki had no emotion on her face, but you could tell by the way she was staring at her paint covered gray frog that she was not happy. "You got paint on Gray."

Molly only laughed in response and Eve scowled at her. "Margaret!" Her mother scolded and Molly immediately stopped laughing to look at her. "Molly, I told you no more shooting paint guns in the house!"

"I know but I got bored and I wanted to make everyone laugh." Molly explained with an innocent smile and Eva sighed. "Sweety, do you see anyone laughing?"

Molly looked at her sisters to see annoyed looks on their face then she looked at her mother to see disappointment. Molly sank down and shook her head. "...No."

Eva sighed and took her hand. "Come with me. You are going to sit in the kitchen with me while I make dinner until Papa comes home." She looked at her other daughters. "You girls go wash up. Nicki, I will help you clean off Gray in a moment and Rocky no TV for three days."

Rocky looked shocked. "Why?!" Eva frowned at her. "We don't use bad words in this house, young lady." She said before going into the kitchen with Molly.

Rocky pouted.

"You can play with Gray." Nicki offered and Rocky smiled a little at her.

...

Couple hours later,

Mikey came home, exhausted from a hard day at the toy store. He walked in and smiled when he saw his wife and daughters sitting at the kitchen table. "Hey, guys!" He greeted.

"Hey, Papa!" His daughters greeted in return and went back to their plates. Eva stood up and kissed him on the cheek. "How was your day?" She asked and Mikey smiled. "Kids, were fighting over a toy and their parents were fighting with each other but I manage to handle it by offering them a free candy bar instead."

Eva chuckled but then frowned. "Listen." She started with a whisper so her daughters wouldn't hear. "I have to talk to you, it's about Molly."

Mikey looked confused. "What about Molly?"

Eva grabbed her husband's hand and took him to the living room. His eyes went wide at the sight. The whole room was covered in water and paint from ceiling to floor. Their brand-new TV was broken in pieces and wet on the floor. "Whoa...what happened?"

"Molly was overdoing her pranking again." Eva answered, then hesitated. "Mikey...I know you're not going to like this, but I think it's time we teach Molly about consequences."

Mikey looked unsure. "But she's only three and she's only trying to have fun." Eva sighed. "Mikey, today she was shooting a paint gun at her sisters, and she shot Vicky in the face. She could have shot her eyes out! You need to do something before someone gets seriously hurt."

Mikey was dumbfounded. "Why me?!" Eva scowled at him. "Mikey, you never punish the kids, I always have to do it and Molly might listen to you more than me. I'm done being the bad guy, it's your turn."

Mikey looked panicked. "But I don't want to be the bad guy! I don't know how!" Eva cupped his face. "It's part of parenting Mikey, you can't always be the good guy. Sometimes you have to be the bad guy for your children's own good."

Eva left, not giving Mikey a chance to argue. Mikey panicked a little, not knowing what to do. He went to his room and laid on his bed to think. "What if Molly hates me! What if I make her cry!"

He hated this, Mikey wasn't used to being the bad guy, he never wanted to be. Mikey understands why Molly is overdoing her pranks, he used to have the same problem. When he was younger, he would pull pranks all the time and when he saw how much fun it was, he just didn't want to stop. He failed to realize the trouble it was causing everyone until Splinter finally had enough and punished him.

That got him thinking...how did Splinter punish him? He immediately sat up and called a number. "Hello?"

"Hey, Pa! You got a minute? I'm kind of having trouble with something." Mikey asked, nervously. "Of course, Michelangelo, what seems to be the problem?"

Mikey hesitated a little. "Um...well...d-do you remember when I was little, and I would go overboard with my pranks, and I didn't stop until you punished me?"

"Yes...I recall. Why do you ask?" Mikey sighed. "Molly is doing the same. She destroyed the living room with water balloons and paint, and she almost shot Vicky's eye out with a paint gun! Eva told me that she wants me to punish her, but I don't know how!"

"I understand, Michelangelo, it's not easy being the bad guy. I had a hard time punishing you boys when you were young."

Mikey raised a brow. "Really? I always thought you liked being the bad guy." Splinter chuckled on the other line. "No one likes being the bad guy, Michelangelo but it's something you have to do even if you don't want to. Children need to learn that there are consequences to their actions, so they know not to do it again. Sometimes telling them isn't enough."

Mikey sighed. "Well...how did you punish me?"

"Well, I grounded you in your room for a week with no TV and sweets."

Mikey looked down sadly. "Wow. That seems...harsh." Splinter chuckled. "Yes, but you left me no other choice, you wouldn't listen."

"Did I...hate you for it? Did I cry?" Mikey asked. "You did cry for a few minutes, but you eventually calmed yourself down. As for you hating me...no, I wouldn't say you hated me. You were upset with me for a bit but when your punishment was over, you still clung to me like you always did." Splinter laughed a little. "You were Papa's little boy back then."

Mikey smiled, feeling much better after talking with his father. "Always will be. Thanks, Pa."

"Anytime, Michelangelo."

With that Mikey hung up the phone and took a deep breath before going downstairs. He went to the kitchen and cleared his throat. "Molly."

"Yeah?" She said, turning to him and Mikey sighed. "Come with me."

Molly got out of her seat and followed her father up the stairs. He took her to her room and told her to sit on her bed. Molly looked a bit worried. "What is it, Papa?"

He knelt down to her level and sighed. "Molly...Mama has told me about you going overboard with your pranks-

"I was just having fun!" She whined and Mikey scowled. "I know but Molly...sometimes there's such a thing as having too much fun. You might be having fun but you're causing everyone else to have not so much fun. I know you don't mean it, but you have to learn when to stop. When Mama tells you to stop and your sisters are unhappy then you should stop."

Molly looked down.

Mikey paused for a moment. "Molly...I'm sorry but I have to punish you. You can't leave your room for a week, and you can't have any TV or sweets and you have to go to bed early every night."

Molly looked at him sadly. "Because I was bad?" She asked. Mikey hesitated but nodded. Her eyes turned glassy, and Mikey cringed slightly. "I'm sorry Papa...do you still love me?"

Mikey's heart cracked and he gave her a big smile. "Well, duh! Of course, I still love you!" He exclaimed while giving her one of his famous bear hugs. Molly laughed a little as Mikey tucked her in.

She glanced to the side. "I have to go to bed early every night?" Mikey sighed. "Only for a week."

"Do I still get a story?" She asked and Mikey smiled. "Well, how else are you going to go to sleep! Hand me a book, girl!"

Molly handed Mikey one of her favorite books and he started reading it to her. Molly was sure not going to like the rest of her week but once the week was finally over, she was more considerate with her pranks and Mikey still didn't like being the bad guy, but he would do it every now and then, so his wife didn't have too.
