It was a cool Friday Afternoon. I was currently in a Library returning the Navigation books I took out. I was currently on an Island called Las Camp.
I honestly had nothing to do today, well not literally, I could go hunting as usual, but I wanted to do something different today. I'm no Zoro, I can't dedicate 99% of my time to training. Then again this was a major "Dog-eat-Dog" world or rather "Sea King-eat-Sea King" world would be more appropriate. I had to get strong to survive, but I decided to stroll around Las Camp and see what the place is like.
Walking around the island, I can see that this place has a huge Marine Influence. I mean, I chose this Island because they had an outpost, but there are marines just casually patrolling the streets. Poor Bastards, I bet even Post-Ennies Lobby Koby can murk them. Then again, that's unfair to the marines because training with Garp will make you built different. Look at Ace, Sabo, and Luffy and tell me that didn't become monsters in their own right.
Anyways, I kept walking until I noticed something I forgot about. A Den Den Mushi. I needed a Den Den Mushi. I kept looking around Las Camp and eventually found what I was looking for: A Den Den Mushi Shop.
I went inside and grabbed a pamphlet. Inside of it, it described the various types of Den Den Mushi. There were the regular ones, there were black ones that listen to conversations, white ones that encrypt calls, and many more. I put the pamphlet in my bag and began to look around. While looking around an employee came up to my side.
"Hello Sir, are you looking for a Den Den Mushi?"
"Yep. I just need a regular one." I respond.
"How about…," The employee started scanning the aquarium of Den Den Mushi before settling on one. He picked up a caramel Den Den Mushi, with a white shell. "...this one?"
"Sure, it looks nice." I'm 100% serious, it's a nice-looking snail. Caramel and White look good together.
"Would you like to purchase some communication gear for your Den Den Mushi as well?"
"Yes please."
After I purchased the Den Den Mushi, I received another pamphlet about how to take care of them. I put it in my bag to read later, and placed the Den Den Mushi on my shoulder. I decided to keep exploring Las Camp.
Camp Harbor, Las Camp, West Blue
Arriving at the camp harbor, there was a ship. On its side was an emblem of a frog with a 7 going through it. Once, it docked into the harbor, Mr. 7 and Ms. Father's Day stepped off along with a bunch of Millions, lackeys for the frontier agents.
"Alright," Mr. 7 and Ms. Father's Day explained the Millions. "We're looking for this man." He held up a newspaper clipping. The person had dark skin, and short black hair covered by a durag. He was wearing a red hoodie with a white X on the front, along with black jeans, and white shoes. "Ask around about a man named 'Paprika.'"
And with that, the Millions were off. They swarmed the streets asking around civilians for Paprika, and asking local businesses if they have seen him. Meanwhile, Mr. 7 and Ms. Father's Day were just waiting on their ship, The Gamma Seven.
30 minutes later, one of the millions called in on a Den Den Mushi claiming they found him.
"What?! Do you say you found him? Where?!" Ms. Father's Day almost yelled into the Den Den Mushi.
"He's at a bench nearby a Marine Outpost!"
"We're on our way now." Ms. Father's Day hung up the Den Den Mushi and began running towards the outpost, with Mr. 7 shortly running behind her.
Marine Outpost Bench, Las Camp, West Blue
I honestly was done exploring Las Camp, so I decided to sit down for a bit and read the Den Den Mushi care pamphlet.
While reading, my Den Den Mushi, who I decided to name Cardamom, leaned in to get a better look. I pat his shell a couple of times.
"Excuse me, Sir." Someone spoke out to me. I put my pamphlet away in my bag and looked. In front of me were two people that looked somewhat familiar. The first one was some girl dressed up in some frog costume, and the other dude was some guy who looked like he was addicted to the number seven.
Wait… number seven. Oh shit! This is fucking Mr. 7. These fucks are Baroque Works Agents! Why the fuck are they after me. I quickly put my hand near my holster just in case shit goes south. Well, this interaction just confirmed that we are pre-canon, or at least Luffy is still in East Blue.
"Uh… Hello Sir… Ma'am, how can I help you?"
"Hmm, we have a proposition for you-"
'Well, the question is, should I join Baroque Works? That depends though. It would tie me closer to canon, and I don't want that shit when Luffy fucks up Crocodile, but if I join I could get access to the Grand Line without going through Reverse Mountain. Well, their boss is a Shichibukai so he probably could hire people to get their boats coated with seastone. But there is also the problem of what happens when Luffy comes around. Do I just dip once Baroque Works falls apart? I mean, if no one knows, no one knows.'
"-We would like you to join our organization. We're an organization of bounty hunters known as 'Baroque Works' and due to your exceptional skills, we sought you out for recruitment."
"Alright, that makes sense." I lie through my teeth.
"So would you like to join?"
I put my hand up to my head and drummed my fingers along my temple, pretending to think over my deal. "I'll join under two conditions."
"Alright, list them." Ms… Father's Day I think said.
"First, I want a ship. Not a big one, but something for 4 or 5 people. My boat just can't cut it anymore."
"Seems reasonable enough. We can do that."
"Two, are you two willing to train with me?"
"I mean, we're snipers, but there's nothing wrong with that." Ms. Father's Day answered.
"Alright then. I'll join your Organization. Where do you operate?"
"We operate within the Grand Line. Here, take this." Mr.7 answered, and then proceeded to hand me a log pose.
"Do you know what that is?" He asked me.
"It's a log pose, they're used to navigate the Grand Line due to the crazy weather, and the unique magnetic field of each island."
"Well damn, you're ready. Very well, come back with us to the harbor, and we'll head back to assign you a partner, codename, and acquire a ship."
"Alright then, lead the way."
And with that, I was on my way to the Grand Line.
