This was it. This is what she'd been waiting for. She was about to tell her parents they were going to be grandparents. She had wanted to tell first and yet she and Daniel were actually telling them last.
"You ready?" Daniel asked as they pulled up in front of the house.
"No," she laughed, "I mean, yeah, but, no…"
Daniel laughed too and squeezed her hand.
"They're going to be so excited," he assured her, "Come on."
They went to the house. The door opened before they could even knock, and Coulson grabbed Daisy in a hug that lifted her off her feet.
She laughed, feeling tears gather in her eyes. God, she had missed them.
"Hey kiddo," Coulson murmured in her ear.
"Hey dad," she smiled.
He put her down and pulled back slightly, looking worried when he saw the tears.
"Hey, you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, yeah," she shook off his concern, "I just… I really missed you both."
"We missed you too," May said, coming up next to Coulson.
Daisy hugged her tightly while Daniel shook Coulson's hand.
"Come on, we want to hear all about space," May wrapped her arm around Daisy and led them inside. They sat down and Coulson brought tea over.
"So," he said, sitting opposite the couple, "Tell us everything. How was space? Meet any aliens?"
Daisy and Daniel laughed before they started regaling her parents with stories from their adventures until finally, it was time.
"We actually have something we wanted to show you guys," Daisy said. She looked at Daniel and he pulled two small boxed out of their bag, handing one to May and one to Coulson.
Daisy bit her lip as they opened them.
May looked up at Daisy, eyes wide and Daisy nodded, smiling through her tears.
"You like it?" she asked the older woman.
"Like it?" May laughed, holding up the onesie that said 'My Grandma is a Ninja' on it. "I love it. You guys are sure?"
"Jemma ran the tests herself, several times," Daisy nodded. She looked at Coulson who was still staring at the contents of his box and hadn't said anything.
"Hey AC, you good?" Daisy asked, trying to sound teasing, but feeling very nervous about his lack of reaction.
He looked up and her breath caught at the tears shining in his eyes.
"You're pregnant?" he asked, voice barely more thana a whisper.
"Yeah," she smiled, her own tears falling freely.
He leaned forward and wrapped her in a hug again, the box falling off his lap.
"I love you kiddo," he whispered to her, "You deserve this. You deserve the whole world."
Daisy buried her face in his shoulder, and she felt Daniel's hand on her back.
"I love you dad," she said pulling back, "And it's true you know." She pointed ta the onesie they had given him which May was now holding.
"'My Grandpa is Cooler Than Captain America'." May read aloud with a smirk, "And there's even a little picture of Lola."
"This kid is gonna have the best grandparents," Daisy said, leaning into Daniel's side.
"And the best parents," May leaned forward and gripped her daughter's hand. "You've got this kiddo, and we'll be with you every step."
Daisy smiled. She couldn't believe she'd been so stressed out about telling them when each member of her family had been more excited than the last. This baby was the luckiest kid in the world.
That's the end! Thanks so much for reading!
