"I have a plan," Luisa said, closing the door to Dolores's room.
"What's the plan?" Mirabel asked. "We can't do anything. Even if we can get the approval of Abuela, those mountains are impossible to scale. I tried to climb up, and I fell."
"I found an area that's safe to scale," Luisa explained. "I made it to the top, then I made it down carrying a donkey. I can guide you up, and I can carry Antonio."
"Wait, Lulu," Mirabel said. "I'm all for leaving the Encanto to search for Isa, Dolores, and Camilo. However, I don't think Antonio should come. It's not safe for a six-year-old."
"I don't think our plan would work without Antonio," Luisa explained. "Besides, his ability to talk to animals might come in handy."
"What's the plan?" Mirabel asked.
"Abuela isn't going to send a search party beyond the mountains for three missing Madrigals," Luisa said. "However, if all Madrigal grandkids go missing."
"So what?" Mirabel asked. "We're just going to hold a sign over our heads saying 'Hey! We're looking to get kidnapped! Please comply!' ¿Luisa te has vuelto loca?"
"Of course not," Luisa said. "We're just gonna disappear into the woods. They'll have no choice but to search. I hate going to such extreme measures, but this might be our only chance to get them back."
"I'll agree if Antonio agrees," Mirabel said.
"I want my brother, sister, and prima back," Antonio said. "If this will do that, then I'm on board."
"Okay," Luisa said. "We leave tonight when everyone else is asleep."
When it was close to one in the morning, the remaining Madrigal children snuck out of their rooms. "What if this doesn't work?" Mirabel asked. "What if we run into them before backup arrives?"
"Then we'll fight whoever took them," Luisa whispered. "Antonio can send a jaguar on them, and I can take most people in combat."
"What if we're outnumbered?" Mirabel whispered.
"Then you and Antonio run," Luisa whispered. "I'll fight until the end."
"We're not gonna leave you," Mirabel responded.
"Thai is a worst-case scenario," Luisa whispered. "It's unlikely to happen."
The trio of cousins left the casita. They started making their way towards the casita. "Wait," a familiar voice called. "I'm coming."
They turned around and spotted Mariano. "Oh no," Mirabel whispered. "Mariano, what are you doing here?"
"I haven't been able to sleep much," he confessed. "I saw you guys outside. I was wondering, 'why would they be out at this hour?' Then I realized that you guys had a super-secret rescue mission planned."
"Mariano, you can't-" Mirabel began.
"I'm going with you," Mariano said.
"Mariano," Luisa said. "This is a super-risky mission. It's not safe."
"I'm more equipped than Antonio," Mariano said. "Before my padre passed, he made my brother and I go camping every summer. I know how to survive in the woods. I'm not letting you save my girlfriend alone. You three have never gone beyond the lake. If I can't join you, then I'll be forced to tell Abuela to protect you."
"Fine," Luisa sighed. The cousins, plus Mariano, then made their way towards the mountains.
¿Luisa te has vuelto loca?; Luisa, have you gone mad?
