A/N: I'm gonna be honest, TodoMina isn't my favorite pairing involving Ashido. That would be BakuMina. Nevertheless, I like the idea of such a cheerful person as her being with a stone-cold dude as Todoroki that I couldn't help but write this quick little one-shot. Enjoy!
Another round of classes had ended at UA, and Mina Ashido headed back to her dorm, having no particular plans for that evening. She loved doing stuff, but today, her classes were extra-hard, and considering she wasn't the #1 smartest student in UA, she was feeling rather wiped. Nevertheless, she felt that a good bit of rest would do her well and get her energized for a round of fun the next day. She knew her friends would understand, so she wasn't too worried about them.
"Ashido!"
Speaking of friends, she paused when she heard a familiar voice address her, so she turned around and saw Shoto Todoroki behind her.
"What's up, Todoroki?"
"You dropped this."
Todoroki held out a pink iPhone, which Ashido took.
"Oh, thank you so much!" said Ashido. "I didn't even notice that it fell!"
Todoroki nodded. "You're welcome. Actually, now that I caught up to you, there was something I wanted to talk to you about…"
"Oh?"
"I know we haven't interacted much, but I wanted to thank you for being such a positive, cheerful individual. Really, I don't think you realize just how important you are to Class 1-A. Whenever I see you smiling, I'm reminded of everything that is good and right in this world. Whenever I hear your voice, I get chills up and down my spine. I really like your Quirk, too. You deserve far more credit than what you've been getting."
Ashido's reaction was immediate: without letting a sound, she dropped her jaw, smiling.
"Todoroki, did you really mean that?"
"I wouldn't have said it if I didn't."
Ashido let out a happy gasp. "Oh my GOSH, you're so SWEET! Come here!"
Ashido gave Todoroki a big hug. Gasping and blushing, he found himself unable to comprehend the action at first. Rarely – if ever – had women given him such a sweet, affectionate gesture. Nevertheless, his body and mind were telling him that this was a good thing, so he couldn't help but wrap his arms around her in return. In doing so, he found himself being treated to the softest, warmest, most cuddly sensation he'd ever experienced in his life, and he just wanted to cry thinking about how he'd been deprived of such a comfort for so long. On the other hand, having ached for such affection, he felt immensely happy and tingly knowing that one of his friends cared enough about him to offer this to him. All he could think about was how wonderfully lucky he was to have friends like this.
Ashido considered herself lucky to have met Todoroki as well. Though not entirely sure what to think of him when she first got formally acquainted with him, after witnessing events such as his awakening at the Sports Festival, she began to see the good deep within him. When she heard more about his tragic past, all she could think about what a poor, unloved soul he was, and having been a beacon of hope for her friends prior to entering UA, she wanted to extend her love and caring to him, too. Now that she got the opportunity, it really warmed her heart like nothing else could. Besides, she also thought he was stunningly handsome and that any girl would be lucky to have him. Finally, after what seemed like ages, Ashido let go of Todoroki, but he kept his arms wrapped around her.
"Hey, you can let go now, silly!" said Ashido.
Todoroki let go. "M-my pardons. I…that just felt really good."
Ashido giggled. "That's how it's supposed to feel!"
"Anyways, thank you very much."
"No, thank you! I feel much better about myself because of you!"
"So do I."
Ashido put a hand on Todoroki's shoulder. "Come on, let's head back! You're free to hang out with me if you want!"
Todoroki smiled. "I'd like that."
"Great!"
Ashido held hands with Todoroki as they headed back to the dorms.
"You know, that's a great smile you have!" said Ashido.
"Thank you. Yours is very radiant, too."
Ashido giggled. "Shut up!"
Todoroki frowned. "What?"
"You know what, silly!"
Even if Todoroki wasn't used to Ashido joking around with him, at least he could rest more easily knowing that he helped uplift her and that she did the same for him.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
