Chapter 5

The adults were just getting settled into their seats by Haley's bed when another familiar face waltzed into the wing.

Haley pointed at him, "Hey, you old bastard! About time you showed up. You're always my first visitor in the hospital. What don't need to manipulate me as much in this world?"

Dumbledore paused and look around to make sure it was him that Haley had to be referring to. "I'm sorry, my girl. Have I done something to offend you."

Severus and Poppy were very clearly trying not to laugh while Haley's family was horrified that she spoke to such a powerful and great wizard that way.

Haley groaned, "Where to even start with your offences?!"

Severus cleared his throat and spoke, "I believe that we would all love to hear about Albus' offences."

"Alright well I mean I guess it starts with the fact that he opened the first vortex," Haley stated.

Lily gasped while James just glared at the headmaster. "Professor!"

Albus looked just as shocked as the rest of them, "Clearly I have a lot of differences to my counterpart."

Haley gave him elevator eyes, "Looks pretty close to me. Anyway, ever since that day you manipulated me into fighting a war for you. When James and Lily died you needed to give me something to fight for so you left me on the Dursley's doorstep in the middle of the night and abandoned me there knowing that they would make me miserable."

Lily gasped, "You were raised by my sister."

"In a sense. Then you 'rescued me' and took me to Hogwarts making you my 'hero'. And because of that I would have done anything for you, including but not limited to jumping into potentially bottomless pits, slaying basilisks, and duelling Dark Lords. It wasn't until I had made friends and truly had a reason to fight that you told me about being from another world."

Dumbledore looked horrified as did most of the room.

"Basilisk?" Severus asked intrigued. If Haley potentially knew where to find a basilisk there was no telling what potions he could make using the ingredients he could harvest.

Haley looked at him, "No! I see the wheels turning in you head. I am not going down to the Chamber of Secrets right now to re-slay the damn snake. Maybe later..."

Dumbledore's eyebrows rose, "The Chamber of Secrets... You know where it is?"

Haley nodded glaring at him.

"And the monster is a Basilisk?" Severus repeated.

"Was in that world anyway."

Before anyone could answer Sirius stuck his head in, "She's awake!" His gasp got there attention and quickly walked in.

Haley smiled, "Snuffles, you're alive!"

James snorted while Sirius looked offended, "It's Padfoot or Sirius here Pup. Not Snuffles."

Haley just kept smiling at him until he was followed in by the remaining two marauders. "Remus, good to see you. Pettigrew... go meet Amos in a dark alley."

Peter looked startled.

Olivia spoke up, "Okay, what is wrong with Uncle Wormtail? You keep making remarks about him."

"If Voldemort was here the sniffling little rat would have handed your parents over to him. Also he murdered Cedric! He's an ass."

The four newest members of the hospital wing were confused while the others all looked horrified.

Albus broke in, "May I ask you to clarify Ms. Potter?"

Haley sighed, "The main difference that I've seen between the two worlds is that there is no Voldemort and ergo no war here. Here she," Haley pointed at her mother unsure of what to really call her, "wasn't hit during a battle making her unable to have children because there was no battle. Wormtail wasn't asked to betray his friends location because there was no one hunting them. Everyone that died in battle is still alive, like Sirius."

"And Voldemort is...?" Remus prompted.

"An evil Dark Lord that murdered us," James answered.

"And I... handed them over?" Peter asked aghast.

Haley nodded, "And you murdered Cedric! And you cut my arm to resurrect Voldemort." Haley held up her arm to show the scar making Lily glare at Peter remembering that scar from when she was washing her.

"I... I am so sorry. I know that I never actually did it but... The fact that any Peter did that... I am so sorry, Haley. I'll do better here. I promise."

Haley was actually taken aback and Severus noted the genuine surprise on her face. That was a good sign of a sincere emotion.

"Thanks... I guess. I still don't trust you."

"Understandable."

James smiled a small sad smile at his daughter as he pet her head slowly. "I'm sorry that happened."

Haley shrugged unsure of what they wanted her to say.

"This Dark Lord, is he the reason for the other Albus taking you," Dumbledore emphasised the word other to remind her that it wasn't him.

Haley nodded, "Yep. You needed a hero. So you found yourself one."

"How?" Remus asked confused.

"A prophecy. Are you a werewolf?"

Remus looked startled, "Er- no."

Haley nodded, "You're missing your golden eyes and scars. I think that your face is missing some character. Not that you are uglier... you just look like you have less personality."

If he looked surprised before, Remus was down right flabbergasted now, "I'm a wolf animagus if it helps any."

Haley tilted her head back and fourth, "Maybe a little. What is your nickname?"

"Canine."

Haley snorted and practiced, "Canine, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs. I think I'll stick with Moony. Why are you animagi? You three had become animagi to be able to help Moony with his transformation."

Remus smiled, "Awe, that was nice of you guys."

James was the one to actually answer, "I expressed interest in becoming one to Minerva I our sixth year. She said I was talented but doubted I would actually manage it. I took it as a challenge. Boy, was she surprised to learn that I had managed and also taught these three how to as well."

"Are you registered here?"

James was a little surprised by the seemingly randomness of the question, "Of course. It's the law and Sirius and I are Aurors. Why would you ask that?"

"You weren't there. It was how Sirius escaped Azkaban."

Sirius broke in, "What the bloody hell did I do to end up in Azkaban?"

"Nothing."

Sirius was very confused, "You don't go to prison for nothing."/p
p class="Normal""You did. Kinda. They thought you were the one to betray us to Voldemort instead of Wormtail. You also went after him after learning about the attack. He yelled that it was you that betrayed everyone, making sure there were witnesses and causing a scene. He then blew up a street killing twelve muggles and then cut off his finger to make everyone believe that you had killed all the muggles and himself. He proceeded to transform into his rat and run off into the sewers."

Sirius was stunned for a second before he smacked Peter over the back of the head.

"I didn't do it! And you've spent no time in Azkaban, Padfoot!"

Yeah well I feel bad for other me. When was I declared innocent?"

"Never."

"Shit."

"You escaped July of 1993. You saw a picture of Peter pretending to be Ron Weasley's pet rat and knew that he was at Hogwarts. You came to protect me."

Sirius smiled, "Uncle Padfoot to the rescue!"

"Oh please, don't get a big head. I almost killed you, Pettigrew escaped, and you almost had your soul sucked out. I had to fight hundreds of dementors and freaking time travel to save your neck."

"Er- thanks I guess," he said sheepishly rubbing his neck.

Haley shook her head, "Don't thank me. It didn't help you very much. You were killed only two years later. Just before I came back in fact."

"Can I ask how?" Sirius said before being smacked by Remus. "What? I'm curious!"

"These probably aren't great memories to be thinking about while recovering," he said sharply.

Haley shrugged, "There was a big final battle at the Ministry. There were a lot of casualties. You were one of them."

"Was I at least killed taking down the big baddie?"

Haley snorted, "No that was my job. You got taken down by your cousin."

"Which one?"

"Bellatrix."

"Figures. That bitch got the Black insanity. Did you at least avenge me?" Remus hit Sirius again. "Ow!" he whined.

Haley shrugged again, "Tried but Mrs. Weasley took that tramp down first with a beautiful killing curse. 'Avada Kedavra, bitch'," Haley mimicked Molly's iconic voice.

Sirius seemed impressed, "Sweet little Molly Weasley, using unforgivables in battle?"

Haley nodded, "War makes people do things that they never thought they could do. I mean just look at what I did to Lucius Malfoy. Squashed him like a bug when he tried to attack one of the people I loved most in the world."

Haley looked very... sad all of a sudden and while it pained Severus he tried to latch onto that raw emotion.

"And whom was that?"

Haley blinked at him, "Doesn't matter. They are gone... or I am... I think."

"They may have a counterpart here you can try to befriend," James offered not liking her so shrugged and for once stayed silent.

Lily rubbed her daughters' back. She knew that it must be hard leaving the only world you've ever really known.

The bells chime echo through the school excusing the second period. Severus sent his husband a patronis asking him to meet him outside the hospital wing in twenty minutes not wanting to leave Haley for to long while she was having emotions that he could observe.

"So if James and Lily were dead, I was in prison, and Peter was an asshole-,"

"Hey!"

"-then was is Canine, or should I say, Moony that raised you?" Sirius asked just wanting the girl to speak again. She seemed to feel fairly safe with them because of her past with the other one and we was honestly loving it. His Pups all trusted him.

"No. He was a werewolf. They wouldn't let him."

"Frank and Alice."

"Tortured into insanity."

Sirius was taken aback before continuing, "Frank's mother then? Augusta?"

"No, but she raised Neville. I met her."

"Marlene?"

"Who?"

"Marlene McKinnon. Well, Marlene Black now as she is my wife."

"You're married!"

"Yes."

"To a woman!"

"Yes."

"Named Marlene!"

Severus muttered, "Deja vu."

"What?" Sirius quizzed him.

Snape groaned, "She said the same thing when I mentioned Thomas."

Sirius nodded, "I can understand that. You being married weirds me out too... And I was at the wedding."

Snape rolled his eyes, "Still don't know why we invited you."

"So Thomas and Marlene didn't exist in you world?" Xavier quizzed.

Haley seemed to be thinking. "What did you say her maiden name was?"

"McKinnon. Marlene McKinnon," Sirius said immediately.

Haley reached into her neck sack surprising only a few when here entire arm disappeared. The original four to the group had known that Haley had to have gotten the change of clothes from somewhere and Albus had done a small test on the necklace when Haley had first arrived before trying to rid it of the blood that it had been coated in.

She pulled out a small book. It looked like a photo album. She flipped it to the end and pulled out a photo closing the book immediately after she had it.

"Is this her?"

She pointed at the photo. Sirius went to take the picture from her but she quickly pulled it to her chest. "It's mine! Mad-Eye gave it to me last summer!"

Sirius backed off for a second, "I just want to see it child. I won't wreck it and I'll give it back once I've searched for any sign of my wife. Okay?"

Haley looked unsure and whispered, "Pinky promise, Padfoot."

Sirius looked sadly at her but held out his pinky for her to take. She did so and as if that made it iron clad she handed over the photo.

"Whoa... that's bloody weird."

"What is it?" James asked.

"It's a whole bunch of us. Obviously not us us but whoa... There is Frank and Alice. Hell even Aberforth is there. And whoa, whoa, whoa," he held the photo in front of Haley and pointed, "Is that supposed to be Alastor Moody?"

Haley nodded.

"What happened to his face?"

"Before I was brought into there world they had been fighting the war for years. He had got hit by death eaters, that's what Voldemort called his marked followers-."

"Marked?" Albus cut her off.

"Yeah, the Dark Mark. He put tattoo's on there arms that he could use to summon them or cause them pain. Snape and Pettigrew each had one." Severus was surprised but Haley ignored it and went back to her story as if never interrupted. "He lost his eye but got this really useful magical one that can see through stuff. Even my invisibility cloak. We call him Mad-Eye."

"You had the cloak," James smirked remembering the mischief they got up to with that.

Haley nodded while Sirius went back to looking at the picture, "There's my beautiful wife!" He pointed her out to Haley.

Haley nodded, "Thought the name sounded right. McKinnon. Mad-Eye said that that lady's entire family was wiped out. A lot of families were." Pointing at Marlene she continued, "She died two weeks after this photo was taken."

Sirius began to feel a little ill at the thought.

"Is Thomas there?" Snape asked.

Sirius double checked before handing the photo back as promised, "No. Perhaps he was killed before it was taken. Although you are the only person here not in it either."

Severus nodded. After hearing about Marlene and the Longbottoms he figured to might be best not to know what happened to the man he loved.

On that thought process he looked at the clock and noted that said man was likely waiting patently outside.

"Well, he should be here now. I'll be only one moment, Haley and then I'll introduce you to your other godfather."

Haley nodded slightly intrigued as watched his retreating form.

Waiting for his husband outside the hospital wing Thomas began pacing. He knew that something had to have happened with his godchild for Severus to ask him to wait outside.

When he finally joined him he immediately looked around the hall for any lingering student before giving his clearly stressed lover a passionate kiss. He would never dare do that in front of anyone. He knew Severus had to much pride to let a student that wasn't their neice or nephew swoon like a school girl. The man liked to give off an air of mystery and power but as soon as he was in Thomas' arms he was a puddle of infatuated goo.

"What is wrong, love?" Thomas asked taking one step back but keeping his hands on Severus' shoulders.

"She woke up," he replied.

Thomas nodded, "I assumed when the twins weren't in my class first period. Has it gone badly?"

Severus grimaced, "I suppose it could have been worse. A lot of it we could guess from her wounds. The Cruciatus really did a number on her. She was in the numbing stage."

Thomas was stunned. It was a very fine line between numbness and complete insanity.

"Merlin!"

"She seems to be coming out of it slowly. She was very clearly sad at the thought of never seeing someone from the other world again. Her life has been one disaster after another. We've only got a little out of her so far but basically everyone is dead or insane. Pettigrew is a traitor and I might be as well. I don't know but she said I was marked!"

Thomas shook Severus lightly gaining his attention again before taking a deep breath and signalling for his husband to do that same.

Severus followed his lead before continuing, "We should get back in there."

"Will you be alright if we do?" Thomas questioned.

Severus bounced his shoulders moving Thomas arms as well, "I'll have to be. She needs me and from the sounds of it I was in the other world but she couldn't rely on me there. I can't abandon her here too."

"I love Haley, but you are my number one priority, Sev. If you need a break, you will take one," Thomas commanded making Severus shiver. That man loved when Thomas took charge and even more so when he protected him. Severus was a strong man and could take care of himself but sometimes it felt good to not have to.

"I'll be fine. I have classes this afternoon anyway so I'll leave soon enough."

Thomas rolled his eyes, "And you'll likely return as soon as you have the chance."

Severus didn't reply not wanting to give his husband the satisfaction knowing that he was completely correct.

"Just so you know it sounds like you may have been dead in her world. She was astounded to learn that I was married let alone to a man," Severus said.

Thomas shrugged, "Perhaps that can be used to our advantage. It means I get a fresh slate while others may have to work more to gain back any trust there counterparts may have lost."

Severus nodded taking his husbands hand in his own and walking in pace to the open door.

The reaction they got was nothing they could have possibly anticipated.

AN: Is this a cliff hanger? It kinda feels like a cliff hanger?
