AN: It's a little shorter than usual but very packed as it has two key moments for this story in it plus it was a pretty fast update so yeah...

Chapter 6

"WHY DO I KEEP FUCKING TRUSTING YOU?!"

No one understood Haley sudden shout. James and Sirius were suddenly pulling their wands on guard and seeing this Peter did as well although his was much less swift and slightly shaking.

"What?" Severus couldn't hold back. He and Thomas watched from the doorway as Haley fought her mother's grasp to be released. The girl ended up falling to floor on the opposite side of the bed taking her mother down with her.

"Haley!" Lily said when she collected herself into a sitting position on the floor while she saw Haley belly crawling under the next bed. "What's the matter, love?"

"He's here!"

"Thomas, yes, I know. I thought you said you had never met him before."

"That's because his name isn't fucking Thomas."

Haley couldn't see it but Thomas was nodding. He did speak loud enough for the entire wing to hear, "Correct. My birth name was simply Tom but when I went into politics I started having everyone call myself Thomas as it sounded more authoritative."

At this point Haley had crawled under the last bed on there side of the hall. She popped her head and wand arm up over the bed before pointing it directly at Thomas whom raised his hands in surrender.

"Haley," Lily tried to say calmly, "Do you know him as Tom?"

Haley nodded not taking her wand off them. Lily observed her daughter as she slowly approached her. The wand arm was steady but she was sweating suddenly. She was clearly nervous but like a good soldier she was ready.

"I promise you, Thomas would never hurt you."

Haley snorted non-committally.

"Was he like Peter? You seemed to be okay with him?"

"I was not 'okay' with Wormtail! But this is worse than fucking Pettigrew! By a lot!"

"What is it that this other Tom did?" Severus asked looking ready to block any spell Haley may throw at them.

Haley stood up slowly seeing that Thomas was still unarmed and skillfully, as if practiced many times she began to write his name in the air backwards so that they could all see.

"You once showed me a neat little trick with your name."

Once the air was filled with fiery letters spelling 'TOM MARVOLO RIDDLE' she swished he wand much like he had all those years ago in the Chamber of Secrets. There was a collective gasp when the letters now read 'I AM LORD VOLDEMORT'.

"Oh Merlin," Lily whispered. No wonder the girl lost any trust they had gained.

"What is it?" Thomas asked. "What does Lord Voldemort mean?"

Severus whispered, "It's the name of the Dark Lord Haley was taken to defeat."

Thomas's eyebrow flew into his thick hairline, "I was a Dark Lord?"

Severus nodded.

"And Haley... killed me?"

Another nod.

"Maybe I should leave then," he offered. "I don't want Haley to be frightened and I can't see her relaxing with me around."

Lily walked towards her daughter whose wand was back on the counterpart of the Dark Lord.

"Haley, I know it's hard to believe but I trust this Thomas with our lives."

"You also trusted Pettigrew with you life and look how that ended up. The only difference here is that that man has yet to lose his mind! That's it! Everything else was a damn result of what he did! He gathered followers and had them hurt or kill anyone he chose! He used a killing curse on a damn baby! He realized a Basilisk on a school full of students twice! All in the name of power! I don't even think he cared about blood status! That was just a way to gather pure-blood followers. They were the ones with the status and money after all. But being a half blood it was very hypocritical if you did feel that way. No, all you wanted was power. After all it was you that said 'There is no good and evil, there is only power and those too weak to seek it'."

None were more surprised then Thomas himself at what she had said, "Haley, I swear things are different here. I am the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor here-."

Haley cut him off, "You tried to be there too but Dumbledore didn't trust you because he was sure that it was you that killed Myrtle!"

Thomas continued with his attempt at proving he was different, "I focus on politics here."

"You wanted to make yourself Minister of magic."

"I don't even know where I would get a Basilisk."

Haley hissed in Parseltongue making everyone jump in surprise except Thomas whom looked thoughtful, "What? Haven't found you beloved Chamber of Secrets yet?"

"I have kept my Parseltongue abilities a secret here."

Haley spared a glance at her godfathers stunned face. It seemed that not even Tom's husband knew of his ability.

"How did you get it though?" Thomas questioned. "The Potter's in this world have no connection to Slytherin."

"Got it from you of course."

Thomas was surprised, "If we were enemies why would I transfer you powers?"

"It wasn't intentional."

"How then?"

"The killing curse."

"What?"

Haley rolled her eyes, "You hit me with the killing curse after murdering my parents. It rebounded and I got some abilities from you."

"You... survived a killing curse?"

Albus broke into the argument shaking his head, "Ms. Potter, that's not possible."

James however understood, "That scar. On your forehead... Oh, sweetheart."

Haley lifted the fringe of bangs.

Albus and Thomas paled along with a few others that recognized the shape.

"Its the shape of the killing curses wand movements," Severus supplied for those that didn't know.

"How?" Lily gasped horse refraining from touching her daughter.

"My mum... the other one. She was told to stand aside but she refused. She died for me. It gave me a love protection. He couldn't touch me... that is until he stole my blood."

Peter squeaked remembering that it had been him that stole her blood for the Dark Lord.

"I am not him," Thomas stated.

Lily nodded and gently added, "Remember, sweetheart. You said it yourself. You were stolen from a world that didn't need you. A world that had no villain. You don't need to fight anyone here." She tried to gently push her daughters wand arm down but it stayed strong.

"Do you know why my hair is like this?" Haley offered Tom.

He seemed confused by the apparent randomness of the question. "You really like Christmas?" he offered cocking his head arms slightly lowering from the surrender pose.

Haley took her free hand and touched her red hair, "My go to spell is the Expelliarmus."

She then touched the green, "I'm sure you can guess what yours was."

Thomas swallowed thickly.

"I killed you. I finally killed you. I had to if I'm back here. You were so arrogant. I destroyed your first body as a damn baby! And yet you were so cocky! 'I'm going to kill you, Potter. After tonight, no one will ever again question my powers. After tonight, if they speak of your name, they'll speak only of how you begged for death, and I, being a merciful lord... obliged.' Merlin, you suck. But I still killed you! I was more powerful and I still am! I didn't only survive one killing curse! I absorbed another!"

Haley let her power thicken the air rolling off her in waves making Lily being the one closest to her get weak in the knees.

She ended it when she saw that her... mother... She really had a mother. This was real right. If it was her imagination it never would have brought a 'nice' Tom here. Riddle was a painful thought. You can't have painful thoughts when insane, right?

Lily quickly regained herself but when then she saw her daughter had tears tracing down her face she didn't know what to do.

Lily looked at Poppy and Severus but the two just looked horrified and sad. They didn't seem to know why she was crying either. She had just been angry why was she crying now? Were they angry tears? Lily then noticed that Haley's eye were no longer locked on Thomas but were flickering between herself, James, Sirius, and the twins.

"Mummy?" she said in a broken voice before falling to her knees with a heart wrenching wail of anguish.

Poppy then decided it was time to step in, "Everyone out!" There were protests coming from everyone. "You can wait outside if necessary but the girl is clearly overwhelmed. Everyone not named James and Lily are to leave," she said with finality. "NOW!" she commanded when people only moved slowly.

Poppy closed her door behind them and watched from afar while James bent down and lifted his sobbing daughter into his arms.

"You're okay, sweetheart. I got ya."

Lily pulled the messed up bed sheets back and crawled into the bed having her husband pass her the teen and pulling the girl in her lap. James enlarged the bed a bit before sliding in himself. Together they held and attempted to calm the crying girl. Nothing seemed to help however and the girl eventually passed out from exhaustion.

When Haley next woke she seemed much calmer but she was shaking like a rabbit. Poppy tried giving her another dose of Liquid Tormentum Sanitatem but that didn't even seem to help.

She didn't want any visitors. Frank and Alice had been patiently waiting to finally meet the girl but anytime the others were mentioned she would begin to rock and cry.

Haley had been like this for nearly 48 hours and it was becoming worrying. All talk of the past ended and all she did was cry and stare off into space.

If Haley had been like this since the beginning Poppy was sure she would have believed her to be insane but they knew that Haley was still there.

They needed to find a way for her to come out though. James and Lily would ramble on about anything that may get a smile out of their baby. At this moment they were talking about when they would take her home they could decorate her room however she wanted.

They were discussing colours hoping to get any kind of input from Haley when Madam Pomfrey interrupted, "I have a patient outside. I believe she will be staying the night. She usually does. I am sorry, Ms. Potter. But I will close the curtains around you all to give you as much privacy as possible.

She quickly did just that before rushing to the door to let her patient in.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Lovegood but I'm going to have to ask you to be as silent as possible this evening. I have another patient that needs quiet."

Even with the hushed tones Haley's excellent hearing picked up the sentence and Haley quickly tuned out her parents whispering about favourite colours.

Luna must have simply nodded because there was no response before Madam Pomfrey cast a couple of spells. "How does that feel now?"

"Better. Thank you, Madam Pomfrey," Haley heard the sad whisper.

"Should I even bother asking whom hexed you this time?"

There was no response.

"How about where your shoes are this time?"

No response.

Poppy sighed, "You are healed but you can sleep here tonight if you want."

"Thank you, Madam. I'll stay out of the way."

Haley had enough. She jostled her parents in an attempt to stand up.

This was the most she moved in days and so they allowed her to do as she pleased. Haley stumbled over her mother lap. Bare feet hit the cold floor and she slipped on the blood stained trainers she had worn to the ministry that fateful day before grabbing the shiny ones. Haley opened the curtains around her bed. She was wearing the black tank top and the pajama bottoms that were in her bag.

Luna jumped when the curtains of a bed a few away from her own burst open.

Standing from the bed he saw two acquaintances of her father. Luna didn't think the Potter's really liked her father or approved of the things they wrote about in the Quibbler but they were polite to them unlike most.

The one that had opened the curtain however was not one of their twins. However she did look...

Oh Merlin! She came back! This had to be their other daughter! The famous one that went to another dimension. But why was she approaching her.

Haley saw Luna's scared and nervous looks she was giving her so stopped short of the bed giving the girl some space. Luna... she was the first person to look exactly the same in both worlds. Her hair... Her eyes... It was all Luna.

"Y-yes?" Luna asked weakly. Haley could feel the eyes of her parents and Poppy as she handed over the shiny silver shoes.

"These should be yours."

Luna was surprised. She starred at the shoes, "I had a pair just like these... They got ruined..."

Haley pushed them forwards making the blonde take them.

"I can't take these from you Haley."

If Haley was surprised that she knew her name she didn't let it show. However the other three didn't even try to hide there shock.

"Sure you can. They were yours to begin with."

"We were close?"

Haley pointed at the pouch around her neck. She hadn't taken it off since she had first woken.

"May-Er- Can I see it?"

Haley nodded taking off the pouch and handing it over so Luna could examine the ruins. She didn't seem disturbed by the stains aside from the fact that it made a couple of the ruins harder for her to read. When she was done Luna handed it back with a small smile on her face.

"Is it wrong of me to say I'm glad you're back?"

Haley smiled a genuine smile, "From you that is the highest of compliments, Luna." She then bent over and touched the blondes cheek, "Who?"

Luna didn't need to ask her to specify but she just reddened and looked at her lap.

"You might as well tell me. This has happened before. I'm just going to go after the same people as last time if you don't. I'd rather be positive it's the same."

Luna had her lean in and whispered something in her ear that no one else could hear.

Haley nodded and stood erect. "I'll handle it." Haley then waltzed to the lavatory to prepare to leave the hospital wing.
