A/N: Wow, this silly little one-shot got a lot more attention than I thought it would, but thank you! By popular demand, I'll be continuing it. I'm not sure how long it will be or how complex it'll get, but the fun things in life are spontaneous.

Chapter 2: Caution to the Wind

Rosalie Hale was grateful that the human girl had kept her distance from the Cullen family.

She knew this wouldn't be a permanent solution, but she was grateful all the same. Eventually, the blonde-haired vampire would have to take the time to uncover her feelings, but she was never one for sitting down and wallowing in her emotions.

If someone were to ask her about who she had romantic feelings for, she would give an all-too-complicated answer.

She loves Emmett more than herself, which is saying a lot, as she unashamedly loved herself. If Rosalie didn't feel a sense of attraction towards him all those decades ago, she wouldn't have brought him to Carlisle and begged for him to save his life. Ever since, she knew Emmett was her mate. They had spent all their days and nights together, vowed to each other for the rest of existence.

If there was any God above them, they had crafted him just for Rosalie.

Could she throw away her marriage vows and disrupt the family dynamic for a human she kissed once? She wasn't sure how the rest of her family would react. If she could attempt to predict it, perhaps Esme and Alice would understand her decision the most. Alice would have already seen it ahead of time, if she hadn't already seen the turn of events already. Esme is known as the most romantic of them all. Surely, she would desire Rosalie to follow her heart if that was where it led her.

The reactions she would fear the most were Emmett and Edward for being the partners pulled into this twisted scenario. Rosalie knew she could withstand the wrath from Edward. The two of them seemed to have a heated argument at least once a week for over six decades now. But the fury or disappointment from her beloved Emmett was something she could not even fathom to process, let alone attempt to predict.

It was a rare thing indeed to see Emmett Cullen anything but joyful. It was as if he was an enormous teddy bear that any of them could lean on, no questions asked, no matter the time or day. To cause Emmett intentional harm was if you were hurting yourself; it caused you deep sorrow and pain.

Even if she discovered she loved Bella Swan just as much as her husband, how could she tell a soul under these circumstances? If she were to tell Esme or Alice, how can she be so certain that Edward will not simply read their thoughts and become enraged, therefore ruining everything? The questions pounding her mind caused her exhaustion. That was not possible for their kind.

It had been a week now since the kiss had occurred in the sunflower field. Despite all the internal chaos it had caused her, she would not take it back. Rosalie's intention was true when she kissed the human. She meant no harm or chaos to either of them.

These questions were swarming her head, but she knew one thing to be true. When her lips met Bella's, a fire had been ignited, and it has spread now throughout her whole body. Everywhere she goes, no matter the change of scenery, she remembers how it felt to kiss the lips of another woman. She remembers how it felt to touch a human body that radiates warmth, how it felt to hear a moan filled with pleasure escape from the woman's lips.

Perhaps that was the problem. Rosalie's dilemma followed her everywhere she went. In every room she entered, the ghost of what occurred in that field was there, beckoning her to relieve it. To give into the emotions, kiss the life she had always known goodbye with a grin, and spend the rest of it with her.

Bella Swan had not visited the Cullen household for over a week now. Edward had made this known to Rosalie, groaning about how much he missed her. She was thankful that she had mastered the art of blocking her thoughts from her dear brother. If her thoughts were left open to be read like one of Bella's many novels she owned, she would have feared for the outcome.

When Rosalie arrived at yet another school day at Forks High, she expected for Bella to not be present again. For the entire week, she had missed all classes, claiming she caught the cold that had been spreading throughout the school like the fire that had been spreading within Rosalie.

But yet, when the vampire walked into her English class, there she was. She sat next to Edward, eyes cast low to avoid any eye contact. She could hear the words Edward whispered into her ear, asking if she was alright and if she needed anything.

It was sick, really. Did Edward feel the way she did when he kissed Bella? Did he realize he was lucky to be seen with her without all the mocking she for sure would have received if their places were switched? Never the mind with her family's reactions, but the public's reactions in this town as well.

Let's just say the town of Forks was not exactly the most liberating. There was no room for women who were confused and wanted to explore all of their options. There was no room for people who may be like her. If it came to be true that she would choose Bella, it would also be true that the people of Forks would berate them relentlessly.

Similar to her brother's wrath, she could withstand all the mocking and jokes that would be made about them. But could Bella? The human girl was a sensitive soul.

Perhaps Rosalie had feelings for her, or at the bare minimum, she was at least confused and would be for a while. She wasn't known for being the most kindhearted of the family (that was Esme), but can she withstand the rest of this existence fully knowing that she dragged a living human being down the pit with her? Can Rosalie take Bella on this journey of her own self-discovery, knowing she may decide Emmett in the end and toss away her heart as if it meant nothing to her?

Worst of all would be if she chose her. Similar to her and Edward's relationship, would she be forced to one day transform her into her kind?

Her mind had been made. She could not even entertain the thought of being with her in a romantic sense, even just a simple kiss. The thought was too painful.

"Rosalie?" She was pulled out of her trance by a voice. She blinked a few times out of a human habit she still hadn't kicked yet. Looking up at the voice, her heart seemed to flutter as she realized it was Bella Swan who had called her name.

She looked around, noticing there was not another person who was in the English classroom. Even the teacher had left by now. How long had she been so deep in her own thoughts that she failed to notice everybody leaving the room?

"You've been out of it for a minute." A chuckle left the mouth of the human as she took the seat that was available next to the woman, as if she had the gift of Edward.

"Oh." That was all Rosalie Hale could mutter out. She was overjoyed to be talking with Bella once again, but she didn't want to if it was going to cause her perfectly comfortable life to turn into turmoil.

Bella took a deep breath. "I know this is awkward for both of us, but I haven't been able to stop thinking about a few nights ago." The human bit her lip, looking over at the blonde-haired goddess that sat next to her. She was nervous about what this discussion would reveal.

"Okay." Rosalie nodded, straightening her back. It was truly exhausting to pretend to slouch around the humans all the time. Her mother always condemned her back posture, it stuck with her even in this vampire life.

"Well," Bella said as she cleared her throat, trying to find any confidence that must be buried deep down somewhere. "You mentioned right before we left you didn't know what that meant, but you wanted to find out. Did you mean it?"

"Bella," she sighed. Speaking her name might let this be easier for the human to hear. "I don't know, but I thought I did. I meant our kiss."

Miss Swan smiled softly at the mention of their shared, intimate moment. The past few days, that was all she could withstand to think about. She feared her grades were falling because of it.

"But," the vampire continued. "What if we're making a mistake? You know firsthand that a relationship between a human and a vampire is chaotic, even more so now that we are both betrothed to another. What if it ends badly?"

"Rose, stop." Bella shook her head, refusing to hear anymore of it. "From my time with Edward, I've learned that it's worth it to take risks. No matter what we choose in the end, it won't be easy. But Rose, please, I need to try. I think we should at least try."

Rosalie didn't speak for the next minute, weighing the options in her mind all over again. Finally, all she could muster was a simple nod. "Alright. But we need to avoid telling anyone else. We need some time to think this through without interruption."

The human was an introverted individual, but she could almost run down the hallways and sing for joy. Without thinking about the fact that they were in public, she leaned forward and sealed Rosalie's lips with her own. Logic would not be a close friend to either of them.
