Together : Chapter 1
Ingo and Emmet was 16 when their parents died from car accident, while their little sister was 9 years old.
Ingo and Emmet wore their usual frown. They had cried their share of tears in their room last night. Now in cemetery, they can't cry. They won't. Not in front of Ayla.
Ayla, their baby sister, was so confused. Tear tracks were still visible on her cheeks. Her young mind was so confused and can't comprehend that something had happened to their parents. Their parents won't be back home with them ever again.
Thinking of it stung Ingo's eyes again, but he hold it in. Now, their young sister was more important.
The three of them were standing in front of their parents' graves. Ingo and Emmet on one side while Ayla stays in the middle, clutching one of their sleeves in both of her hands tightly. As if to make sure that they were still there with her.
Ingo and Emmet squeezed Ayla tightly between them. They were the same as her, as an assurance making sure their younger sister was still there with them.
After hours of silence, Ayla spoke up, her voice hoarse and dry from all the tears she had cried,
"Are you going to leave as well?.."
Ingo and Emmet looked down at her while Ayla didn't dare to meet their eyes in her downcast look. Both twins kneeled down and lowered their heads to meet her eyes and gazed at the silver grey orbs they all have with assurance and certainty.
"We don't know the way of lives, so we can't promise that we won't ever leave." Ingo started.
"But that doesn't mean we want to leave you. You are our younger sister. Our baby sister. We both love you so much." Emmet said with his trademark grin, even if they are a notch down from their usual grin, Ingo and Ayla still appreciate it.
"So whatever happens, just remember that if life tried to derail us, know that we will fight tooth and nails to get back to you. We won't give up."
"Because we won't give up, we want you to not give up as well. Okay Ayla?" Emmet asked the most important question. Ingo won't lie, even if she was just 9, Ayla looked so defeated they were afraid she would do something drastic.
Ayla slowly looked up at them, meeting the similar silver grey eyes just like hers that gaze at her own with so much love since the day she can open hers. She nodded slowly,
"I- I won't.. but you won't give up too, right?" she asked, still scared which was understandable. Ingo and Emmet won't ever tire to remind her that yes, they're going to always be there for her until all the fights left them.
"No, I won't give up." Ingo assured her.
"Right! None of us are going to give up. I'm sure Mother and Father will be very proud and happy to hear that in the sky." Emmet said, softly at the end gently squeezing Ayla's shoulder.
Ayla looked up to the sky and gave a slowly nod.
They still have a long way to go. They may won't ever fully recover. But they still have each other. The three of them.
They will try, no matter how hard, the three of them are going to stay together and strong together.
That's why Ingo and Emmet fought tooth and nails with the Children Social Worker who tried to take Ayla away from them. The Social Worker reasons that they were still young 16 year old while Ayla needs a stable home. Ingo and Emmet had argued that they have stable home since Ingo and Emmet have started working as Subway Masters Trainee since the age of 13 and have fully become the new Subway Masters at 15.
Their payments were enough to cover all of their needs including Ayla's. The Social Worker argued that they won't have time for her with all of their works involved. Emmet had worn his wide challenging grin and said, "There are two of us and she's our baby sister. We won't ever let her go and we'll make sure to stay together and provide for her needs mentally and physically. We promise you that."
There are still some arguings and protests involved, but when their mentor, the old former Subway Master has vouched for them and assure the Social Worker that the twins could handle it and it won't matter anyway because they will never let their sister go, the Social Worker finally relented and let Ingo and Emmet keep their young sister and become her official guardians.
Ayla never really knew about the fights and arguments they endure to keep her with them when she was young, but she was really happy that she gets to stay with them.
Because whatever happens the three of them always stay together.
Because they are family and the only ones left from theirs.
They won't let go that easily. Not anymore.
A.N : As to wait for me to finish future chapters of 'Silver Grey Eyes are Family Hereditary', I will explore more about Ingo, Emmet, and Ayla (my oc as their little sister) familal relationship. Hope you enjoy this first short one :)
