A/N: When I was watching that episode where Class 1-A moved into the dorms, I really felt sad for Tsu when she broke down crying in front of her friends, and I really wanted to hug her. However, since she's a fictional character, I created this fic instead. Let this serve as a gentle reminder that it's OK to check up on your friends to see how they're doing.
Another day of classes had ended at UA, and without hesitation. Tsuyu "Tsu" Asui headed back to the dorms. Today had largely been an all right day for her, barring a couple of courses that proved to be quite tough, but nothing Germanically so, and certainly nothing that she couldn't handle. After all, she was well-known for keeping calm even when the going got tough, though she did have occasional moments where things got to be too much for her. Such had been the case last night, and though logically, things had been resolved between her and her classmates, the matter was still on her mind.
"Hey, Tsu!"
Tsu paused and turned around to see who'd addressed her: it was none other than Izuku "Deku" Midoriya.
"Good afternoon, Midoriya…wait…did you just call me 'Tsu'?"
Deku rubbed the back of his head and smiled. "Well…yeah. Isn't that what you told me to call you?"
Tsu put her index finger up to her mouth. "I did, but I just never expected you to actually call me that, ribbit. So anyways, what's up?"
"Well, I just wanted to check up on you and see how you were feeling."
"I'm feeling all right, but I'm going to be honest: last night was overwhelming. That was the first time I'd ever broken down in front of friends like that, and it's been on my mind all day."
Deku kept smiling. "I don't know exactly how you feel, but whatever you're feeling right now is understandable and valid. I just want to let you know that it was really brave of you to open up like that! Also, I think you're an awesome friend and comrade! I'm glad I met you!"
Tsu smiled, too. "Wow Midoriya, that was really sweet of you."
Immediately, Tsu pulled Deku into a big hug. He gasped and blushed, not expecting such an affectionate gesture. Nevertheless, he gladly returned the hug. In doing so, he found that she was surprisingly soft, warm and cuddly for such a petite little girl. While he thought she was quite cute when he first laid eyes upon her, he never really thought much of her until the incident at the USJ, when he truly saw how valuable an ally she could be. Even if the tone of her voice seemed rather flat, deep down inside, he could see just how much of a nice, caring person she was and how lucky anybody would be knowing that she was fighting to preserve Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Heck, he considered himself lucky to serve as a hero to her.
Similarly, Tsu couldn't help but think of how fortunate she was that Deku had come along to check in with her. For a good portion of her life, she had spent time raising her siblings due to the frequent absence of her parents, and while she loved her siblings dearly, she lamented the fact that she rarely – if ever – had people whom she could come to about her personal problems, so knowing that one of her good friends was willing to make sure she was OK, she couldn't help but want to embrace him. She just felt so secure and snuggly resting her head against his shoulder, and every second that she spent in this moment with him was another second that her heart was allowed to warm up. Feeling good about him, it was quite some time before she let go.
"Feeling better?" asked Deku.
Tsu nodded. "Much better. Thank you so much, ribbit."
"You're welcome! Also, call me 'Deku'!"
"Will do."
"Anything else I can do for you?"
Tsu put her index finger up to her mouth. "Well, why don't we hang out together? I know this bakery that makes really good jelly donuts, ribbit."
Deku gave a thumbs up. "Nice! Let's go!"
And so, Deku and Tsu walked off with each other. Deku smiled, knowing that his small act of kindness had proven to be a big help to a good friend.
Criticism is gold. Negativity and nitpicking are pyrite.
