The Lost Prince

Main Theme- Squares by The Beta Band

The blue holo figures of the father and son flicker in and out of existence. One moment, they are dancing, the next they're reciting the Nabooian alphabet. The Resistance High Command watch the holovid with rapt attention, though Vice Admiral Holdo plays with a curl of her blue hair. The holovid ends with the father hugging little Armitage Hux close to his chest, and that's where Ben freezes the holo and then brings up a holo of Senator Palpatine.

"As you can see, Armitage Hux's other father looks very much like Palpatine. Note the nose, the sharp cheeks, and the slight wave to their hair. I believe that Armitage Hux through his other father is a Palpatine."

"He could almost be a clone," Admiral Ackbar comments.

"I doubt it, or else he'd be ruling the First Order. I think he could be a son," Admiral Statura says. Major Ematt shakes his head.

"There are no records of Palpatine having any immediate family member. He's the only one who survived his family. He did have a niece through a distant cousin and another cousin twice removed, but they're both dead and never had any issues."

"He could be an illegitimate son from one of his concubines," Major Brance adds with a smirk.

"Oh please, he'd sooner die than let anyone touch him," Holdo remarks. "In any case, we would need to perform a DNA test to be certain. And we don't have any of Palpatine's genetic material, but we could graverobbing on Naboo through the Palpatine family crypt."

"Is that why this Jaina Jade rescued him? To use him as a puppet Emperor?" Ackbar inquires.

"I can assure you that she has no desire for General Hux to be part of the First Order. In fact, she would prefer it if we framed him as the leak for the FO's latest superweapon, Starkiller Base," his mother adds.

"Is there still no sighting of her or her ship?"

"Not in our galaxy, but perhaps Kylo would have more luck finding her in the Unknown Regions," Ben suggests.

"I haven't heard that name in a while. I thought he disappeared," Holdo responds coyly.

"His mission kept him out of comms reach," his mother explains. "He returned yesterday."

"With Ben?"

"No, he got in later," Ben lies smoothly. "He's aware of the situation and can leave within the hour."

"He should see Luke before he leaves." Her order is presented as a suggestion, and Ben nods. He hurries out of the room as his mother turns to plans on locating and then destroying the FO's superweapon. He cannot help but wonder if she's given up on aid from the New Republic in this endeavor.

It would take too much time and that's something we might not have. That weapon could be up and running with Pryde waiting for the opportunity to use it. The New Republic will be informed after we destroy the weapon. Hopefully, then I'll have Hux back.

The surprise rescue mission left many Resistance members with minor injuries. The medbay was full and low on medics, so Finn helped out. He was shocked that the Resistance would trust an FO prisoner with the care of their members, but he believed they knew he wouldn't cause any harm. Doctor Ergo stressed that no matter the patient's affiliation that they should do everything in their power to help them. It also helped that he opted for medic scrubs over his Stormtrooper bodysuit.

Currently, he's getting another blanket for a technician with a minor concussion. This technician not too long ago tried to escape her bed, but a meddroid spotted her and returned her to the medbay. Ever since then, he's made sure to keep an eye on her.

"Rose Tico, here's your blanket." She regards the blanket with a sullen gesture and doesn't take it.

"Doctor—"

"Not one yet."

"Medic, what's your name?"

"Finn."

"And your last name?"

"Don't have one."

"Oh."

"You look disappointed."

"I just wanted to call you by your full name like you do with everyone else and make you realize how awkward it is!" she huffs.

She reminds me of Ergo when it comes to calling us troopers by our numbers when the officers were around. She says such formality reinforces the unfair hierarchy.

"Tico—"

"Rose."

"Rose, your sister wanted me to tell you that she'll visit you after her mission." She looks sadly down at her hands.

"We hardly get to hang out anymore, and then I had to bust my head!"

"You were stunned, so you couldn't really prevent yourself from hitting your head," he says dispassionately.

"Don't you have any siblings?"

"No." I don't think so because my record didn't mention siblings. If I had any, then they would've ended up in the program too.

"Oh." She gives him an apologetic nod.

"I have squadmates that are like a family."

"Are you a pilot too?"

"I'm a Stormtrooper." She stares blankly at him and then perks up like she's remembered something important.

"Oh! You're the trooper that Poe made out with!"

"WHAT!? IS THAT WHAT HE'S TELLING PEOPLE!?" Finn looks around and notices the looks of alarms and then whispers, "I would never let him! He kidnapped me!"

"It's just a rumor floating around since he's the one who pleaded your case to General Organa," she mumbles.

"Oh, I thought it would be the Jedi girl."

"Rey? I think she's got other things on her mind. She's always had that faraway look on her face."

I hope she isn't trying to convince her Jedi Master in training me. Personally, I'd rather have some more time to think about joining the Jedi. It might be my only option since I doubt the FO would try and rescue me, a mere trooper.

"In any case, you just need to rest for a few more days and then you can do some light activities."

"Fine, Doctor Finn."

The sun struggles against the clouds with not even a slither of light getting through. Rey has her back against the rough bark of the galek tree, while her head is protected by its silver limbs. She should be enjoying the pleasant overcast, but her mind is elsewhere.

What do I do now? Most of my life was spent on Jakku, waiting for my parents' return. Then, I tried looking for them when I became a Jedi. In the end, my waiting was futile.

"Rey? Ah, so that's where you went!" She focuses on the voice and sees Lor San Tekka. The old man with his snow-white hair pads over softly. He's always worn a kind smile on his careworn face.

"Lor? I thought you were on Gatalenta."

"I was, and Holdo kindly gave me a lift. I brought back some of the world's famous tea."

"I guess I should try it since Master Skywalker loves it so much."

"Speaking of whom, I noticed he and Kylo were in a heated conversation as I passed by. Apparently, Kylo is departing for the Unknown Regions to retrieve Hux."

"I'm not surprised." He's his boyfriend, though I'm not sure if Kylo quite understands that.

"Luke seems concerned that the retrieval will turn into a hunt."

"You think he's going to hurt Hux?"

"I believe he'll hurt himself." Concern weighs heavily in those blue eyes. Rey remembers that very same look when they first met on Jakku.

"Maybe someone should go along with him, keep him from falling to the Dark Side."

"He's leaving within the hour."

"Save me a cup when I get back."

The Rogue Shadow escapes into hyperspace. Kylo leaves the cockpit and stalks towards the storage hold. He finds Rey there with bones strewn about her.

"Rey," She jumps at the sound of his vocoder and whips around to face him, "you better know how to put those bones back."

"Why do you have a suitcase full of bones!?"

"It's a gift for Hux."

"I know he's a weirdo, but I didn't think to this extent," she mutters.

"I just entered hyperspace and dropping out would be foolish. You better not get in my way."

"I can handle myself."

"A bo staff isn't immune to blasterfire," he reminds her.

"I can dodge. Besides, you know how to stop bolts and you would protect me, right?"

"Reluctantly."

"I hope you'll treat your boyfriend better than me."

"Hux isn't…it's complicated."

"Everything is with you. You're like Ben, but at least Ben likes airing his drama."

"Just return the bones to the suitcase." Kylo stalks off, not even sure if Rey will listen to him.

Force, I hope I'm not making a mistake in letting her tag along.

Here is an image of Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo. Unlike the previous three, I actually do have thoughts on her. I don't like her, and it boils down to the fact that I don't think she had to sacrifice herself, and her sacrifice was a cheap emotional ploy. I also hate when an interesting-looking character gets killed shortly after being introduced as in within the same movie: a href=" . "Link/a

Here is an image of Lor San Tekka. I didn't have the same problem with his character that I did with Holdo because he wasn't marked out to be anything special like her. He was just there to deliver a piece of a McGuffin and then be killed. However, his character is expanded beyond the movie to show that he's Force-sensitive and part of the Church of the Force, which that strikes me as the Light version of the Church of the Dark Side in Legends/EU: a href=" . Here is an image of the Rogue Shadow which is an upgraded form of Darth Maul's Scimitar and used by Starkiller from The Forces Unleashed videogame and then by General Eclipse in the sequel. I feel like this ship would be suited for the Resistance's Shadow, and it would have enough room to hide a stowaway: a href=" . /starwars/images/a/a5/Rogue_ "Link/a

Finally, I'm bringing Kylo the Resistance's Shadow back! Also, I get to write Rey and Kylo together, but not in the next part. I plan for the next part to be Jaina's quest in curing Hux's Force-inflicted blindness. Thanks for reading for those who stuck around!
