Life is filled with ups, downs, scares, and mysteries. In the town named Magnolia, you have a chance to find a good mystery there. It just takes one person to find the answers to all the mysteries out there. It usually takes someone cool, calm, and collected.

"Wait! Wait! Wait!" Someone called out to his school bus as it was getting ready to leave, but he ran straight into the door.

"Late again, Natsu? I can't keep waiting for you." The driver said with annoyance.

"Sorry." Natsu said as he climbed on the bus and tried finding a spot for him to sit in. He just walked down the seats until someone tripped his leg and caused him to fall with everyone laughing. The only one that didn't laugh was the guy sitting next to the jock.

"Come on, Gray. Laugh."

"Tripping someone like that? Grow up." Gray said with annoyance. Natsu just picked himself off the ground and just found a place to sit. He was so not looking forward to today, or really any day.

...

The School

The bus arrived at school and all the teenagers just went on and acted like everything was normal. For Natsu, his normal day usually involves something going wrong. As he made his way to his locker, he could only imagine what is coming his way. He arrived at his locker, but he did spot one bright thing about his day. He looked down the lockers and spotted a beautiful blond. Whenever she was around, he couldn't stop smiling. However, the happiness was short when he saw his locker wouldn't open.

"Not again." Natsu complained as he tried getting it open. His struggle didn't go unnoticed by the blonde he was starring at earlier.

"Hey. Do you need some help?" She asked as she came over.

"The dang thing always gets stuck, but I got it." Natsu said.

"Natsu, right?" The girl asked.

"Yeah, and your name is Lucy." Natsu said. He tried speaking with her, but his locker flung open with him being blown back from it. He ended up bumping into the janitor and the trash he was carrying spilled everywhere with people laughing at Natsu even more.

"Hey!" The janitor complained as he didn't look happy at all.

"Sorry." Natsu said. Natsu turned back to Lucy, but the bell rang and she was already leaving. Natsu groaned with his unfortunate luck and just walked away with the janitor left cleaning.

"I hate this school, hate teenagers." The janitor complained. Natsu hurried as fast as he could to his class, but he was in too much of a hurry and ended up crashing into a girl with red hair and caused papers to go everywhere.

"Hey!" She complained.

"Sorry." Natsu said as he did help her get it all together, and spotted her name on the paperwork. "Sorry...Erza, but I've got to go." He handed Erza her papers and just took off. Things just don't seem to go his way.

A Classroom

"Over a hundred years ago, the founder of our hometown, Fiona Magnolia, founded the town. She planted beautiful flowers and was always cheerful and fun." History class was going on for Natsu, but the problem was that he and other students had the most boring teacher at their school. It was hard for any student to stay awake in. He even looked boring with simple grey hair, glasses, and simple clothes for a teacher. "She even enjoyed hiding objects and playing games with people where they had to find them."

"Yawn." Natsu whispered.

"Now, class, you can work alone or with a partner for your next project about the founder. I'll give you a moment to choose who you want to work with." The teacher said. Everyone scattered through the class and found someone to work with, but Natsu was the only one who didn't have anyone to work with. The bell rang to mark the end of class and the students couldn't get out of there fast enough. "Mr. Dragneel, a minute of your time."

"Yes, Mr. Nelswood?" Natsu asked as he came over.

"I see that whenever I say you can work with someone, you usually work alone." Mr. Nelswood said. "Don't you have colleagues, your homeboys to do the hang with?"

"What?" Natsu questioned as he didn't really understand.

"Friends, Mr. Dragneel. Do you really have any?" Mr. Nelswood asked.

"Oh! Yeah! I've got plenty." Natsu said as he tried his best to sound sincere, but he was doing a lousy job at that.

"It might help if you try to find someone who has the same interests or hobbies of you." Mr. Nelswood said. "I actually have a hobby of collecting pottery. I collected pottery that dates back to nearly a hundred years ago." That alone sounded boring to Natsu.

"Is it that late? I've got to go. Thanks for the concern, but I'm doing fine." Natsu said as he tried his best to get out of there, but Mr. Nelswood was right to be concerned about Natsu.

Natsu's House

"I'm home!" Natsu called. After school, Natsu went straight home after another rough day.

"Hi, Natsu! How was your day?!" His mother called.

"The same." Natsu said without going anymore detail. He just went to his room and crashed on his bed. What happened today was everyday for him. He would like to have some friends to hang with, but the sad truth is that he has little to none. He did have one small one to help him out and he felt him when something landed on his bed. "Hey, Happy." Natsu might not have many friends, but he's got his freaky blue cat. "Yeah. I had another rough day. Even the most boring teacher at our school thinks I should start making friends, but not a lot of people understand me. At least I got you, little buddy. You're usually there to help me out." Happy did his best to cheer up Natsu as he purred against him. "I doubt a lot of people would get me, and I'm talking to a blue cat." Happy felt bad for Natsu and does wish he could help out.

...

The Next Day

"Where are those dumb books?" Natsu said. Another day came rolling around for him, but he had trouble getting all his stuff together. While he was searching around, his sneaky kitty had an idea to try and cheer Natsu up. When Natsu wasn't looking, Happy jumped right into his bad. He figured he could go with Natsu and try to cheer him up when he needs it at school. Not even bothering to look, Natsu found his books and just shoved them in with him taking his bag and heading for school.

...

School

Natsu arrived at school and readied himself for whatever the school has to offer. He figured things were going to go the same they were going to go as they have before. It was just going to be miserable for him.

"Hey." Natsu turned around and was surprised to see Lucy there. "I just wanted to make sure you okay after yesterday. That looked like it was an embarrassing situation you were in."

"Yeah. You don't need to worry about me. I'm doing fine." Natsu said as he opened up his bag, but he was surprised to see Happy was in there. "Happy?! What are you doing here?!"

"You brought your cat?" Lucy said.

"No! He must have snuck in when I wasn't looking!" Natsu said. "Why are you here, Happy?" Happy can't actually speak, but he did do a bunch of body movements and sounds. "Did you follow me?"

"You understand him?" Lucy asked.

"No, but sometimes I do get an idea." Natsu said.

"Take a look. Loser Dragneel is actually talking to a hottie like Heartfilia. Not a chance." The jock said as he went over.

"Dude, come on." Gray said as he didn't want to get involved, but his friend didn't listen as he walked over to them.

"I need to get you out of here before you get us both in trouble." Natsu said as he was ready to leave, but the jock pushed him out of the way and focused on Heartfilia.

"Hey, babe. Sorry you had to talk to his loser." The jock said with Lucy getting already annoyed. Natsu got annoyed himself, but Happy wasn't going to take it as he was getting sneaky. He jumped out of Natsu's bag and actually scratched the jock's leg. "Ow!"

"Happy!" Natsu called.

"Is this your cat?!" The jock said as he roughly grabbed Happy and lifted him off the ground.

"Hands off!" Natsu said as he tried to save Happy, but the jock just pushed him aside.

"Lay off!" Gray said as he pushed the jock and tried to stop him. He jumped on the back of the guy and tried wrestling him. Natsu joined him to rescue his cat with Lucy trying to break them apart. It was starting to gather a crowd. Erza was among the crowd and saw what was happening with Happy and saw he was in trouble.

"Hey! Knock it off before you hurt that little guy!" Erza called as she tried joining in. She grabbed the jock's arm and gave it a good turn to force him to drop Happy. However, Happy joined in the rumble as he jumped up on the jock's head and tried to give him a good scratch. All of them liked that did draw a crowd, but there was someone they didn't want there.

"What is going on?!" An old man called, but Natsu accidentally hit him in the face. That caused everyone to stop what they were doing because that old man Natsu hit was Principle Precht.

...

The Library

"Detention for two weeks?!" Lucy complained as she, Natsu, Gray, and Erza were taken to the library with Happy on a leash. "Principle Precht, I was merely a victim of circumstances and just trying to break it up."

"So was I." Erza said.

"I was trying to stop the guy myself." Gray said. "Why should we be punished when he brought his cat here in the first place?"

"Not my fault! Happy snuck in!" Natsu said with Happy giving an innocent smile. "Besides, what about the meat head that threatened my cat?!"

"Quiet!" Precht shouted. "No excuses! You four initiated what happened back there, and were the assaulters. That is why you all will remain here and not join in today's pep rally. Mr. Dragneel, I will talk to you about a separate punishment for bringing your pet to school." There really didn't seem to be anyway out of this for any of them. Precht left the library with the lady librarian stepping in.

"The rules for detention are the same as they are for the library. That means no texting, no talking, and no eating." The librarian said. "Now, all of you keep it down. I'll be back in a few minutes because I have to drop a few papers off." She just left the four of them in that room and it was just them. "Bad enough they cut my budget, now I'm stuck with troubling teens." The librarian left the library and left all of them in the room. They all just sat there and tried avoid getting in more trouble, but Natsu figured this would be a good opportunity to try and connect with somebody.

"Uh... Erza, right? Why did you jump in? You had nothing to do with this." Natsu said.

"I just didn't want to see a cute, little, and innocent creature like your cat get hurt." Erza said. "Besides, school is no place for fighting. You should have at least took it outside."

"But if it wasn't for your freaky blue cat, none of us would be here." Gray said.

"It's not my fault! I didn't know Happy was in my bag! He snuck in and followed me!" Natsu said.

"A cat did that? That be more believable if it was a dog." Gray said with Happy a little offended.

"Stop it before we get into more trouble." Lucy said. "If we are assigning blame, what about you, Gray? Your friend was the one who actually started it by pushing him."

"Not my fault either. He's always been cocky." Gray said.

"Sounds like some friend." Erza complained.

"We play basketball together... We're not friends, but..." Gray tried to explain, but was not coming up with anything. "You know what, forget it. I don't get why I would explain anything to you guys." This didn't exactly go well. Seeing as how none of them really know each other, it's hard to find something to actually connect with. They all just sat there and minded their own business. However, Happy looked to the side and thought he spotted something through the book shelves. When he tried getting a closer look, he thought he saw a pair of evil eyes through there. It freaked Happy out and tried telling Natsu in a frantic manner, like he was some sort of cartoon.

"What is it, Happy?" Natsu asked as they all noticed he was acting weird.

"Don't tell me that thing has rabies." Gray complained.

"What's going on, little buddy?" Natsu said as he didn't know what Happy was saying. Suddenly, they noticed that the lights were flickering. "What's with the lights?"

"Did the school forget to pay the electric bill?" Erza questioned. It wasn't just the lights. They all felt some sort of breeze and it was getting stronger. It became so strong that some of the books were flying off the shelves. None of them understood what was going on as it was getting weird. Suddenly, an explosion of smoke went off with the lights shutting off. Inside the smoke was some sort of specter in a black robe and had a white face. All of them were a little nervous and didn't know what this was. Their hearts beat against their chest like drums with adrenaline pumping through them.

"Boo!" A simple word that caused all of them to freak and ran out of there with the mysterious specter laughing at their fright.

...

The Pep Rally

While those five were being terrorized in detention, the rest of the school gathered in the gymnasium for their pep rally. All of them were getting excited, but none of them were aware of what was about to happen.

"Now, here comes those star athletes you're all proud to share a school with. Here comes the Magnolia Dragons!" Precht announced as they all expected their athletes, but Natsu and the others were the ones that smashed through the banner instead as they were running for their lives.

"Uh... Go, Dragons..." Natsu said as he tried to lighten the mood, but Precht wasn't happy.

"Principle Precht, there's a problem!" Gray said as he tried to explain, but that was when the lights suddenly went off and everyone started to panic from the sudden darkness. Just then, green lights came on with another explosion of smoke appearing right in the middle of the gym and the specter showed himself once more.

"Students of Magnolia High, leave this place now or suffer the consequences!" The Specter called. "Anyone who remains will be doomed!" That was all he said before he vanished again. Only one thing can describe what was happening: the school is haunted.
