Okay, so the MC4A definitely helps me branch out into older fandoms because I have not written for Cyberchase in months but it was so much fun. Before any fans get mad at me, I know Marbles/Motherboard isn't canon but as a kid, I always thought they loved each other and didn't get why Lovelace was even a character. So I wrote it like that. The Earthlies are all adults in this so nothing creepy with the implied Matt/Jackie. I hope you enjoy!
They had waited months – years, even for this moment to come. Motherboard still could not believe it was finally here – that they had finally achieved this. She had always known that Dr Marbles would be able to make it happen but with everything that happened, it had kept getting delayed. As she heard the cheers from the Cybersquad and all the party members who had been invited in honour of this celebration, her eyes were only fixated on one person – the scientist, the man, her best friend who had always been there for her even at her lowest points and the reason she still existed.
Dr Marbles seemed to notice her gaze and turned to look at her. "Motherboard, is everything alright?"
A soft smile radiated across Motherboard's blue face. "Thanks to you, the answer to that question will never be a no. Thank you, Marbles. I don't know where I would be today if it weren't for you."
Dr Marbles's face dusted a light pink colour at her words, and it took him a few minutes to speak again. "I'm just glad to see you back to normal. I wish I were able to do this sooner. It was…hard seeing you in so much pain and only being able to watch. I know the Cybersquad helped out with problems here in Cyberspace, but I feel they would not have had to had I been better."
Motherboard peered at him. She knew he worried about her, but she didn't want him to get down on himself especially as this was a moment of happiness and celebration. They had gotten in one major victory over Hacker after all and that was her health.
"You did help," Motherboard said gently. "As long as you're with me, I know no harm can ever befall me for long."
Dr Marbles smiled at that. "I'll always be by your side. No matter what."
"And we will be too," Digit's voice cut in the middle of their moment causing both Motherboard and Dr Marbles to blush a bit, but Digit did not seem to have noticed a thing. Inez sighed, however, having seemed to notice this.
"Dige, I think they were having a private moment," Inez explained to her friend gently.
Digit looked confused. "A private moment? What do you mean?"
"Yeah, Nezzie, I don't get it either, what do you mean?" Matt asked, looking just as lost as Digit was. Jackie sighed as well, taking her boyfriend's hand.
"Matt, they were being romantic," Jackie explained to him gently. "Kind of like we are on dates and all."
"What Jackie said," Inez explained simply before her expression formed a scowl. "But don't call me Nezzie!"
"No, no, it's nothing like that," Motherboard said, a little too quickly although the blush on her face spoke on another story. She loved Dr Marbles, but she felt like the love she felt for him extended to the highest level of romance to the point that she felt calling it a romance was simplifying it.
"Absolutely nothing like it," Dr Marbles agreed, voice slightly high-pitched.
"Oh, I see," Matt said grinning now. "Well then, I guess, Cybersquad, we should give these two some privacy huh? Have fun, you two!"
Matt and Digit started laughing and even Inez and Jackie were smiling, amused as they turned away from the obvious couple's protests and went back to partying. Motherboard watched them for a moment before sighing.
"Somehow, I do not feel as if we convinced them at all," Motherboard said, the blush still prevalent on her face.
Dr Marbles chuckled. "I agree but maybe it's not such a bad thing. I mean, we did get to spend some time alone."
Motherboard smiled at that – that was true and somehow, that was enough at this moment.
