Knock. Knock.
Draco sighed, "Go away, Hermione!"
The door to the Coach House clicked open, and Theo stepped in, "Hermione, really? You think she could break through the three layers of warding you put on this place? It's like bloody Nurmengard."
He shook his head, "And don't even get me started on the encryption. I mean, even I had to rack my memory to remember what the fuck your first pet was called."
Draco smiled slightly, and Theo shut the door behind him. There were three additional buildings on the grounds of the castle (not counting the stables). The Coach House was a large family house in its own right, and it only really got used when the Potters came for Christmas.
The Gate Cottage and the Garden Cottage both had three bedrooms, and Almina and Charlus had been told that they could stay in them if they wanted a little privacy. Charlus had jumped at the chance and nabbed the Garden Cottage next to the sheds where he kept his motorbike. But Almina had said she was happy staying in the castle, so the Gate Cottage had remained empty until Addison Weasley came to stay.
"Nice hide-out, by the way," Theo said, looking around the lounge of the house. It was rustic but cosy. The room was lit by a roaring fire and equipped with minimal furniture.
Draco shrugged, "I just needed some distance."
"From her or all of us?"
"From them," Draco said, meeting Theo's eyes, "You didn't do anything wrong."
Theo sighed and sat down next to him, "I didn't stop them."
"You weren't really in a state to do that, Theo," Draco said, looking back at the fire.
"When you see someone you love die, your brain shuts down. All you feel is pain and then…" he sighed and looked down at his half-full glass of whiskey, "Then you start realising how different your life is going to be without them in it."
Theo looked at Draco perceptively, "Is that how you felt when I 'died'?"
Draco nodded, still unable to meet Theo's eyes, "Someone said something to me when we thought you were dead, and it stuck with me for a long time."
He looked down at his hands and sighed, "The day you lose someone isn't the worst day of your life; it's all the days that they stay dead and…you were 'dead' for a long time."
Theo sighed and shifted slightly so he could look at Draco properly, "I know you weren't dead for as long as you all thought I was, but… I still had all these thoughts racing through my head. I kept thinking about how I would have to walk your girls down the aisle because you wouldn't be able to do it. I thought about going home without you, about how hard it would be to put you in the ground. I thought about it all, Draco."
Draco looked over at him and saw tears shining in Theo's eyes.
"So when Sadie said there was a way to bring you back, I couldn't argue," Theo said, his voice breaking, "But if it had been my call, I couldn't have authorised it, and that would have…."
He wiped his eyes hastily, "It would have destroyed me."
Draco sighed and leaned across the sofa to kiss Theo. It was a messy kiss because they were both crying now, but rather like the kiss in the whiskey store that morning, it said more than words could.
Theo deepened the kiss, moving his hands into Draco's hair. Draco instinctively pulled Theo closer to him as he ran his tongue along the other man's bottom lip. Theo opened his mouth to grant Draco access. The fact there was barely a fight for control said everything about how Theo was feeling.
Draco knew it was wrong to sleep with Theo when things were so bad with him and Hermione. But in the 15 years that had passed since they confessed how they really felt about each other, things had changed. The mentality had changed – there were four of them, and there was a unique relationship between each person and another.
And it had never felt like cheating. Until that night, when so much was up in the air between himself and Hermione but when Theo was there, being his open, loving self.
It was almost enough to make Draco stop, but when Theo kissed him like that, he was pretty helpless to stop it. Maybe it was because of all that time he had spent denying himself.
He shifted and pressed Theo against the sofa, then Theo vanished their clothes and threw his wand onto the floor. Draco let out an involuntary gasp of pleasure as his hard cock rubbed up against Theo's, then he captured Theo's lips again.
Theo was more wriggly than Draco, impatient, basically. He always had been, so while Draco could kiss Theo for ages without demanding it become anything more, Theo couldn't help himself. He kept involuntarily shifting his hips upwards, desperate for more friction, so Draco chuckled against Theo's lips and gave him what he wanted. As he kissed him, he rocked his hips, just enough for his cock to rub against Theo's.
From the moan that came from Theo's lips, Draco knew that had been what he was after.
"Draco," Theo complained breathily, "Come on, don't."
Draco smiled and kissed Theo lightly, then he pushed his legs apart and muttered a couple of charms under his breath to speed things up. They didn't always use them, but sometimes Draco was feeling lazy and more often than not, Theo wanted to skip the foreplay because he was too desperate for the sex.
It meant Draco could position himself and slide into Theo with relative ease. Theo threw his head back and groaned, bringing his legs up to pull Draco in closer.
Draco groaned as Theo pulled him closer. He ducked his head and kissed his best friend again, rocking his hips slowly and eliciting quiet moans from the other man.
It was all a little out of the ordinary. Usually, when they had sex, it was a hurried, passionate affair. Born out of pent up lust and denying the way they felt for so long. But this time was different. It harked back to the first time, actually.
Draco reached for Theo's hand, and when he grasped it, Theo intertwined his fingers through Draco's, clasping his hand shut on his best friends.
They both knew they wouldn't last long; both of them were moaning. Theo gripped Draco's hand tightly as Draco set a more punishing pace, meaning he was close.
"Theo," He moaned, thrusting into the other man hard as he fell over the edge.
Feeling the heat and the spasm of Draco's cock inside him would have been enough to tip Theo over the edge, but Draco grabbing his cock and pumping it a few times did the trick anyway.
"Fuck," Theo groaned, throwing his head back to catch his breath.
Draco let out a contented sigh and rested his forehead against Theo's.
They were both silent for a moment until they caught their breath. Then Theo ran his hand over Draco's, "You're not wearing your wedding ring."
"Hm," Draco agreed non-committedly.
"Draco," Theo said softly, "In the 20 odd years you have been married to Hermione, you've never taken it off. Is it really this bad?"
Draco looked at Theo, "I'm this person. The person who does what he can to save his family, whatever the cost. But she – she was always pure, golden, and this…I just don't know who she is anymore, Theo."
Those words and the broken, strained tone they were delivered in broke Theo's heart.
