Usagi pov

"Usagi you should really take one of us with you. When Mamoru-san leaves, you will be on your own and vulnerable at an airport." The odangoed blond looked at her short sandy haired blonde friend, who had said it. She looked worried. The others looked the same.

"Ruka, it's the last time I am going to see Mamo-chan in maybe months. His schedule is so busy that he has already said we won't have many phone calls, but he will try and write. Besides, we haven't had an enemy in weeks, not since Nehelenia when we rescued Small Lady's Senshi."

A hand went on her knee then. "Usa, the fire has said there is something big coming. We shouldn't leave you on your own." Rei, her fiery friend, spoke softly.

"I promise, I will be fine, girls. Now I really need my bed. I don't need to be emotional and exhausted when I go to the airport. Goodnight girls," she said with tired formality.

"So, who else didn't buy the 'I will be fine ruse'?" the leader said when the silver-blonde odango haired girl left the room. Eight hands, including both leaders', went up. The long-haired leader had smiled.

"We cannot all go. The school is already suspicious on why an 8th grader from the junior school, 10th, 11th graders and a school nurse with all completely different backgrounds hang around together. Especially as it is frowned upon, considering our society, for us to mix with upperclassmen on campus," Ami, the short blue-haired genius said.

"We know that Ami-chan, but Usagi cannot be left alone ever, especially as Rei-chan has said that there is something big coming," Michiru, an elegant turquoise-haired girl had said.

"Well, I cannot really leave my post as school nurse. Grazed knees and skinned hands need lots of TLC" Setsuna said with a blush.

"Yet you make it work on lunch break Setsu-mama," the youngest of the eight had said.

"Hai, I do, but being gone for a whole morning it would only raise their suspicions more.

"I am going to suggest myself, Minako, Haruka and Hotaru," the Amazon girl of the group suggested. "We are all in different classes, one of us, two, maybe three, grades below," she said looking at the older two Senshi then at the youngest.

They all nodded their agreement.

"Then it's settled. The four of you will stay within earshot of Mamoru-san and Usagi-chan, and only make an appearance once Mamoru has boarded that plane, and then bring Usagi home she will not be able to concentrate at school tomorrow," the female cat spoke.

They all nodded and said good night to each other and went to their respective rooms. All dreaming of the biggest challenge that was yet to come.

Mamoru pov

As Usagi slept in his embrace that night, he had heard the conversation that the girls had had. There was another enemy on the horizon. Was he really making the right decision going to America? Yes, he was sure his Usako would overcome the challenge even if he wasn't there.

The next morning

"Are you ready, Usa?" he said as he hugged the blonde from behind.

"I don't think I will ever be ready Mamo-chan. We haven't been apart in so long that it is going to be strange for a little while, but I have my girls, and you have a full-ride scholarship to one of the most prestigious medical schools in the world. You deserve it Mamo-chan, and I am so very proud of you." She turned around and hugged him. Hiding her tears.

The weight in his pocket suddenly felt heavier. He knew he had to propose today somehow, but would she understand the meaning of the ring without him actually saying the words? The sound of a horn beeping brought them out of their little moment. "The cabs here, Usa," he said into her hair. She made the final adjustments to her uniform and nodded.

"I'm as ready as I will ever be, Mamo-chan" she replied.

A short cab ride later they had arrived. The couple were so in their own world they were completely oblivious that they were being trailed by four Senshi.

With the Senshi

"Do you think he will propose to her today?" Makoto whispered.

Minako nodded. "He sought Kenji-papa's permission while Usagi was in the pool with Michiru and Ami before dinner, and I believe he said yes. Mamoru had a goofy grin when he came out of the meeting room. I asked what was up and he told me, so yes, I think he will propose today. But if he bumbles it up, she is just going to think it's a promise ring," she replied.

The other three nodded, all knowing he was so in love with Usagi, his nervousness combined with the emotion of his soul bonded. it was likely that she would not know it was an engagement ring unless they told her.

Back with Mamoru and Usagi

When Mamoru got his ticket, Usagi wrapped her arms around his free arm and they walked together. Usagi brushed past someone and only spared them a single glance. The other party, however, stopped and stared and put his sunglasses down. "She's like her," he whispered, but he was snapped out of it by someone pulling him. "Seiya come on, I can't hold this form much longer," another person said.

"Hai," he replied, and the three superstars left the screaming fans.

They arrived at the airport balcony viewing area. With Usagi not having a ticket, they could not go into the lounge together. Usagi had tears forming in her eyes already "Mamo-chan, I promised myself I would see you off with a smile," she explained, her voice breaking.

"Usako," the words he'd memorized just left his head, seeing her so devastated. He pulled the small box out of his pocket and passed it to her.

"Mamo-chan, for me?" Inside the box was a solid white-gold ring. At its forefront was a pink heart diamond with little diamonds surrounding the heart.

"When I get back," he whispered, he took the ring out of the box and placed it on her ring finger.

The two kissed and held each other for a while "Last call for Chiba-san. Flight 152 to Boston is leaving." The voice broke the two out of their reverie.

"I suppose that's me," he said. He picked up his bags, and with one last chaste kiss, left Usagi alone.

"I will write every day," she called at Mamoru's retreating form. She hugged herself at the loss of his warmth and strength.

The feeling was short-lived, as four pairs of strong arms wrapped around her. She had the right to feel annoyed, even should feel annoyed, but having four of her girls hold her softened the grief she had welling up inside her.

"Let's go home, Usa," Haruka said. Usagi looked down. Hotaru was already holding her hand, Makoto was behind her looking for threats, Haruka was at the front of her with a comforting hand on her shoulder and Minako holding her other hand with a soft smile. Usagi noticed then that none of the girls had their uniforms on.

"Hai. Arigatou, minna" she replied, thankful they were not making her go to school, and the five left the airport.

Mamoru Pov

He caught a glimpse of the four Senshi wrapping his bonded in their embrace as he passed his ticket to the officer. He smiled. They had the sense to make sure at least half the team were there to soften the grief, as he felt when the girls hugged her.

"Which one's yours?" the officer whispered, catching him staring.

"The little blonde in the middle" he replied, finally looking at the officer

"Lucky woman." the officer replied, Mamoru really looked at the officer. He looked young and he was familiar, too familiar.

"Do I know you?" he said. The man shook his head, but his eyes told a different story.

"Not me, sir," but he kept glancing at Mamoru's passport book. "It's time to leave sir," the officer said, ushering him through the tunnel.

On the plane

Mamoru felt annoyed and wanted to know who that official was. He looked inside the book and a note fell out, scribbled in rushed calligraphy "Help will come my prince. We are alive. Z, J, N, K"

He breathed a sigh of relief. His knights and friends were alive. How, he didn't know, but he did wish they could have reunited before this trip. The girls would be okay, Usako would be okay and…..

A bright light entered his peripheral vision. Other passengers began to scream and looking horrified through the windows. He looked out and saw a woman there, in a full gold armor, fuku, and skirt, on the wing. It was like the Senshi costumes his Senshi sisters and bonded wore, but he sensed evil. He pushed past the horrified passenger next to him and into the cramped bathroom. He transformed without a sound, and teleported on to the wing of the aircraft.

"Who are you?" Tuxedo Mask shouted. The woman laughed darkly.

"I am Sailor Galaxia, the protector of the universe," she replied.

"No, who are you really?" he was not convinced. "This planet is protected by warriors," he added.

"You were the easiest to find. Without you, the earth will die little by little," and before he knew how to reply, sharp discs were flying at him. They pierced his chest and Tuxedo Mask, Mamoru Chiba, was no more; just a golden crystal that fell into the hand of the evil one who laughed and teleported away.

Usagi pov

Usagi was in her room having a nap after her emotional morning. She woke up screaming at the pain in her chest. The four Senshi who were home, and her parents, all rushed upstairs at the sixteen- year-old's cry. Her father broke her door down, since she kept it locked when she wanted to be alone or spend time with her love.

"Usagi, what's wrong?" her mother said, holding her daughter.

"Mamo-chan," she whispered, and fell into a trance-like state. All the occupants could do was stand sentinel as Usagi fell into the crystal's mind

"Usako," his voice.

"Mamo-chan, why was I in so much pain just now?" she asked.

"A woman stole my golden crystal, I won't make it to Boston, I am dead but my mind is safe in my crystal, I can be restored Usa, but only by your love when you face her," he said. Usagi began to cry, her soul-bonded was gone. "Usako, you have to be strong. You have to face her. I will come back to you, but until then, help will come," he tried to soothe the distraught princess.

"I will bring you back, Mamo-chan," she said, tears still rolling down her cheeks.

"I know you will. Goodbye, my love, until soon," his own voice wavering as his consciousness settled back into its resting place.

"Until soon," she whispered and pulled herself back into consciousness. She just let them hold her while she cried, cry for the loss of her love they had seen and cry for the battle to come.
