elexis knocked on the door hesitantly and fidgeted with the zip as she waited for the door to slide open. The door opened and revealed a shy Derek, who motioned for her to come in.

She stepped in and looked around her. The loft was what she had expected and she was glad to see the maps she had requested spread out on a table in the room. Cora and Peter were standing next to it. They looked at her apprehensively and Elexis simply smiled. She took off her jacket and knotted the sleeves around her neck. She moved to the maps and started examining them.

Derek came next to her and observed her. He crossed his arms over his chest and asked, "So, what did you need the maps for?"

Cora and Peter also looked at her with questioning glances, she sighed and launched into a monologue, "So the experts I mentioned before, those who are coming in tomorrow, most of them are witches. They'll be performing spells which will help us protect the city better and a town wide alarm system, which will alert us as soon as Esther and Mikael breach it."

"Isn't Esther also a witch? Won't she detect that?", asked Cora.

"No, she won't. She has amassed great strength over the last centuries, but she will find her match in my friends."

Cora nodded hesitantly as Peter implored Elexis to continue. "So the telluric currents will provide us with the best places to set up the magic alarm system. I will match them with the borders and pick out the best spots. Also, we need to step up traps across the preserve. Not the ones hunters use, but magical ones. Lastly, a protection spell needs to be placed on the Nemeton as well."

Peter nodded and bade his farewell as he went away to terrorize innocents elsewhere. Cora received a call from Aiden and decided to

meet him for a milkshake. Derek stayed with Elexis and helped her mark the spots on the city map, tallying them with the hotspots of the telluric currents.

Once they were done, Derek offered her a beer. Elexis accepted graciously.

He asked her about New Orleans, careful to stay away from her personal life. She told him about the wonderful city she had spent most of her life in.

They spoke about shared experiences and how it felt like to live in the cities in the States.

Once Elexis was on her second beer, she slyly asked, "So, when are you planning to ask Stiles out?"

Derek literally threw out the beer in his mouth and looked at Elexis with wide eyes before regaining his composure, "wha- what do you mean?"

"Oh come on! Don't play coy with me. I don't have to be a wolf to sense the adoration rolling off you when you look at Stiles. I have eyes."

"I have no idea what you're talking about."Derek grumbled.

"I've seen the way you look at him, Derek. Admit it, the skinny kid has gotten under your skin and grown on you."

"I will do no such thing. And even if I did, there is nothing I can do about it. You said it yourself, he has this ridiculous 10-year plan of wooing Lydia."

"Oh my god, are you insane? I mean how do you even function? I have been here one day and I can see he is over that strawberry blonde. How do you not notice him ogling at you every chance he gets? He isn't as discreet as he thinks he is."

Derek paled. "M-me? He looks at me? Why?"

"If it isn't obvious yet, he likes you. A lot. Just jump his bones already!"

"Aaaaand we're done here", Derek sighed.

"Alright, sourwolf. I'll leave of my own accord, you don't have to push me. ", said Elexis. She rolled her eyes and Derek walked her to the door.

"He's legal now. Make a move before it is too late, Derek.", she said.

"You really are his sister. Never know when to drop it, do you?", sighed Derek, fondly.

"Nope sir, not when it comes to those I love. You and your pack are dangerously close to joining that list." informed Elexis.

As they bade their goodbyes, Elexis made her way to her rented house. She parked her car and opened the door. She put the charms back in place and changed into her tank top and shorts. She shot off a quick text to her friends back in New Orleans, those who were coming and those who weren't, that she had their work cut out for tomorrow. She switched off the lights and turned in for the night.
