In the Death Room, Eda looked around.
"Huh, haven't been in here since I got in trouble for sneaking a glitter bomb in the principals desk... it's bigger than I remember." Eda said.
"Thank you. Now onto WHY you're substituting for Lilith exactly." Belos said to her, "There is a dangerous Kishin, something that I can only trust Lilith and Camila to do. Speaking of, I have received word that she is heading to California."
"What? A kishin?! Why didn't you ask us for this mission?!" Eda asked, getting to her weapon.
"Yeah!" King agreed.
"Because it requires stealth for information gathering and precision for no property damage in residential areas." Belos said to them, causing Eda to flinch.
"God damnit." Eda mumbled, being a powerhouse but no proper targeting.
"That being said, I want you to take over Lilith's position temporarily, because I fear the students may have to learn about other methods to deal with this if it gets to that point."
"What Kishin is it?" Eda asked.
"It's... her."
Eda paled. Why couldn't it be anyone other than her?
"I'll make sure they'll be ready." Eda said.
"Good." Belos said with a nod as he looked out one of the windows in his Death Room. "Because from this point on, everyone will need to "level up" for what's coming. Now go."
Eda and King nodded to him before leaving the Death Room.
'I'll do my best with these kids. I'll try to make you proud, Lily.' Eda thought as she and King looked around the DWMA.
Lilith and Camila on the other hand, got into a car.
"It's going to be a long drive."
"And I may sleep halfway." Lilith said as she laid back in the passenger seat. "As always, Edalyn is physically and emotionally draining to deal with."
"I'll wake you up when it's time for you to drive." Camila said as she started the car and began driving.
Later that day, Amity and the twins were walking around Death City.
"It's... pretty quiet." Luz said.
"Well, most Kishins come out at night, you know that." Amity said.
"And only people like us come out. We're patrolling the city just in case." Vee said with her hands in her pockets.
"It's boring, I want to do something fun like kill Kishins."
"Luz, you are becoming a battle maniac." Amity said to her.
"Hey, if loving my future career is wrong, I don't want to be right." Luz said with a hand wave.
"You still need to relax. Before you know it, you'll just be battling ANYONE to satisfy your itch." Vee said to her sister.
"Relax, that's not going to happen."
Amity and Vee stared at her as they stopped walking, making Luz stop as well.
"It's not! I swear it's not!" Luz said to them, "You both know I wouldn't go down that path."
"We know but we'll still make sure you relax once in a while and not go all battle crazy." Amity said before they continued patrolling.
"I don't even want to imagine you becoming one of them." Vee said before Luz pulled them close by their shoulders.
"I know and I promise I won't." Luz said before hearing something in an alleyway, looking down and seeing a small white cat digging through the trash.
"Aw, look, it's a cute little kitty." Luz said.
Without thinking, Luz moved to the cat as it looked at her with a curious tilt before she scratched under its chin.
"Are you hungry little guy?" Luz asked before looking underneath. "Oh, little girl, hehehe."
The cat purred.
"You're just a little snowflake, aren't you?" Luz asked as she picked up the cat.
"Luz, put her down, she could have an owner." Vee said as she and Amity walked up to them.
"She doesn't have a collar, she must be a stray." Luz said before gasping. "We should take her home!"
"Luz we can't-"
Luz and the cat gave Amity the biggest sad eyes they could.
"Vee?" Amity asked, begging a bit.
"Don't look at me. You're our meister and team leader, it's up to you." Vee said with her hands up. "Plus, she is pretty cute."
"But we can't just- We have- It-" Amity stuttered out before seeing Luz and the cat's sad eyes away, this time with a quivering lip from Luz. "Ugh! Fine! We….will keep her."
"Yay!" Luz said.
"But you have to take care of her. Food, bedding, shots; all of it. That cat is YOUR responsibility." Amity said as she pointed to Luz.
"Yes ma'am on all accounts!" Luz said as she held the cat to her face. "You here that, girl? You've got a new home with us!"
The cat licked her nose.
"Oh! You are so cute, without a doubt the most adorable thing I have ever seen before!" Luz said to the cat as she put it on her shoulder and walked out of the alley.
'Oh boy.' Vee thought as she gazed towards Amity.
'…I hate that cat now.' Amity thought, lightly glaring at the cat, who looked back at her.
The cat suddenly gave a Cheshire grin and winked at Amity with her tongue out.
"Did... did you see that?" Amity asked Vee.
"You glaring at a cat for being loved by Luz? No." Vee said as she walked after her sister.
"No, not that. I could've sworn that cat just winked at me with a grin and her tongue out." Amity said, catching up to Vee. "And don't say I'm crazy because you know what we do."
"Fine I won't say you're crazy." Vee said, "But you said nothing about thinking it."
Amity glared at Vee before gazing back at the cat, who was still being showered with affection from Luz.
"I'm just saying we should keep an eye on that cat. There might be more her than meets the eye." Amity said as they walked home.
When they got home, Luz immediately brought the cat to her room and put her on the bed.
"Stay right here, cutie. I'll be right back with some food and for you. We should still have some of the fish fillet leftover from when Vee made dinner a few days ago." Luz said as she walked out of the room. "Oh, and I have the perfect name for you when I get back!"
Luz left the room. After she did, the cat grinned widely as she got up and stretched her back.
"What a nice girl, took me in after seeing me digging in my favorite ally." The cat said, actually speaking before she gave off a glow and began to change shape.
What replaced her was a girl with white hair, blue eyes, and sharp teeth. She appeared to be a year or two older than the girls with tanned skin and wore a skintight gray tank top, white sleeveless hoodie with matching opera gloves, and gray cargo pants with foot sleeves instead of shoes.
"I have to say, she is really cute as well."
Back in kitchen, Luz was preparing the food for the "cat" while Vee was working on dinner for tonight.
"Hey, Vee?" Luz asked as her sister turned to her. "What do you think is a good name for our new pet?"
"Hmmm, I don't know. Something like snowball or flake? Something to go based off her appearance?" Vee said as she turned back to the stove. "It's rare to see a white cat with blue eyes around these parts, like a ghost."
"Perfect!"
Vee and Amity, in the den, jolted from this scream and turned to Luz as she smiled widely!
"Geez, what?!" Amity asked as she looked into the kitchen.
"Thats what we'll name her! Ghost!" Luz shouted with glee. "It's unique, it matches her white coat, and it sounds cute like this. Our sweet little Ghost!"
Amity facepalmed. She understands why Luz was never allowed to have a pet. From in the room, "Ghost" was using a little magic to listen in and was chuckling in amusement but found the name rather nice.
"Hehehe, Ghost, huh? I like it. I think that name will fit me just fine." She said before she heard Luz making her way back up. "Better switch back to cat, at least for now."
Ghost glowed and transformed back into her cat form, pretending to sleep on Luz's bed as Luz came back into the room with the fish fillet and a bowl of water.
"Aww, little baby." Luz said.
Luz set the food and water down before walking to pick up Ghost, scratching her ears to wake her up.
"Oh, you're so cute!"
'I know I am.' Ghost thought as Luz put her down in front of the food and water. 'Oooh, and it's warm too. This is definitely going to be a good home.'
